Oracle technology stack

Hi. A question of terminology here:
What, exactly,is meant by Oracle technology stack? Is it a generic term to describe Oracle architecture?
This page http://awads.net/wp/2006/05/05/oracle-e-business-suite-technology-stack-and-products-cheat-sheet/ desribes E business suite and its 'technology stack' and it just looks like a reference to the way that Oracle architecture interacts with itself.
But when we choose, during cloning, the techstack option, this suggests something more specific.
Yet again, for example here http://blogs.oracle.com/stevenChan/2008/12/top_2008_techstack_articles_for_ebs_11i_and_12.html there seems to be a more general reference to the way EBS works with the 'techstack'?
What is the techstack??
Thanks,
DA

Dan,
techstack (Technology Stack) components are database technology stack and application technology stack. In 11i, it is (8i/9i/10g) RDBMS and (8.0.6, iAS), and in R12 it is (10g/11g) RDBMS and (10.1.2.x AS + 10.1.3.x AS). Please refer to the installation manual (Installing Technology Stack Components) for details.

  • 11.5.10.2 Technology Stack Validation Patch - Database validation report

    Hi all,
I am trying to upgrade Oracle EBS 11.5.10 to 11.5.10.2. As per the Oracle instruction i am running 11.5.10.2 Technology Stack Validation utility. For Node Type admin, Conc, Web, Forms its working fine. But when i run this for Database, its giving me same report as for both the Node Type. So i am not able to know whether database is compatible or not. Even though i have done all the steps as mentioned in the README for 4318672.
    Please advice.
    Regards,

What about the report header? Does it show same info (node type, node name, context file, ..etc).
Did you source the Database Oracle Home environment file on database server node as the owner of database server oracle home file system before running the technology validation utility?

  • OAF vs Fusion Technology Stack

    Hi all,
We have developed custom business processes (similar to SSHR actions like Termination, Salary Change, etc...) where you enter data through an OAF page or pages, optionally go through approvals and then update Apps or some other application through appropriate APIs.
We are in the process of reworking the actions and adding numerous more and are going through the decision process on whether to develop using OAF or the Fusion Technology Stack.
Has anyone come across white papers or other discussions on which to use going forward? Will OAF be around in 2008 when Fusion comes out, does a current 11.5.10.2 architecture support developing with the Fusion Tech Stack (like does the latest approved AS work with JDev 10.1.3?).
Looking for some type of decision checklist on which should be used.
    Thanks, Rob

Rob, OAF will be supported in all pre Fusion releases. Fusion is going to be based on ADF techstack and there might be a lot of architecture change both in technology and product lines. So if you are planning to migrate to Fusion sometime when it gets released you need to analyse if the customizations are even relevant with that product line at that point of time(It is difficult to comment without understanding the extent of change in product lines).
You should be able to use 10.1.3 techstack with OAF in the future releases. You should wait for the actual release milestones to get documentation on that, I can only provide pointers on that now(I work with Oracle development).
It is your decision to customize applications using OAF or ADF at this point. We can recommend the best approach of doing customizations with the current ebusiness suite. If you use OAF you get a lot of advantages of using extension hooks and deploying customizations in a upgrade safe manner. You get the underlying AOL/J security infrastructure for free when developing new pages and integrating them. If you choose to develop your applications using ADF then you need to take care of all these things as well as you will be running applications in two different technologies OAF(ebusiness suite) and ADF(your custom development). You should then try and integrate these two pieces.

You can download the different products in the Oracle identity management stack here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/htdocs/devlic.html?url=/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101401.html
The identity stack consists of various products and figuring out how to integrate the service offering with your in house solution is not an easy task. I would recommend talking to your Oracle account rep about using a systems integrator if your are seriously considering this option.

  • Oracle CRS stack is already configured while running root.sh

    Hi,
I am trying to install cluster ware in for 10g (10.2.0.1)RAC in RHEL5 node 1 and node 2 servers. Already i tried install clusterware but my installation failed in last step. So i uninstalled and tried my installation again from node 1. But when i execute the ./root.sh as root user in node 1 or node 2 i get the below error
WARNING: directory '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0' is not owned by root
WARNING: directory '/u01/app/oracle/product' is not owned by root

Checking to see if Oracle CRS stack is already configured
Oracle CRS stack is already configured and will be running under init(1M)
How to remove or deconfig this CRS and CSS service properly and proceed the installation.????
    Regards,
    007

    cd <GRID_HOME>/crs/install
    run as root:
    # rootcrs.pl -deconfig -force
    then run under oracle user:
    <GRID_HOME>/deinstall/deinstall
    This should do.
If you still see this warnings, check if you have any oracle-owned files under /etc, for example /etc/oracle dir with local ocr/olr location files.
Consider renaming/removing them and try again.

  • ODI Reverse engineering for Oracle technology Custom views

We are using ODI (10.1.3.6) version and database oracle 11g.
Here we are trying to do reversing tables and views from oracle EBS database (11g).we used apps schema for database details. for oracle technology in the physical arch.
But views or tables are not visible to do reverse for oracle technology.
We have crated model and select the technology as oracle and corresponding logical schema , in the Reverse Tab we selected Standard ,selected views ,tables options and moved to select reverse Tab, and selected the 3 options of new datastore , existing.
But views or tables are not visible at all.
Please Anybody help me on this.
    Thanks,
    SRI

    Hi,
Instead of Standard reverse go for Custom reverse and use RKM E-Business Suite for this purpose.

  • Clusterware Install:root.sh- Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack. 10

    Hello All,
    Image: !http://systemwars.com/rac/cluster_back.jpg!
I was attempting to perform the steps in:
    Link: http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR1RACInstallationOnLinuxUsingNFS.php
The only difference is that I decided to use fedora core 12 instead. I did this because I added a second NIC card (USB) and only FC12 would recognize it. I tried to get it to work on Cent 5 but it just wouldn't. The second nic on each machine eth1 are connected via crossover cable, and the interfaces can ping each other just fine, rac1-priv and rac2-priv.
    So here is my setup:
    # Public
    192.168.2.11 rac1.localdomain rac1
    192.168.2.12 rac2.localdomain rac2
    #Private
    192.168.0.11 rac1-priv.localdomain rac1-priv
    192.168.0.12 rac2-priv.localdomain rac2-priv

    192.168.2.112 rac2-vip.localdomain rac2-vip
    #NAS
    192.168.2.10 mini.localdomain mini
Mini refers to my Mac mini which I decided to use as the 3rd "server" in the group. I was able to mount/read & write to the file systems just fine. As you can see.

To recover from a status 10, one must check:
check firewall / routing / iptables issues
Now I have turned iptables off completely it doesnt even start up at boot time, so I know it can't be that.

Both rac1 and rac2 get the same output above with the -vip getting !H => !H, !N, or !P (host, network or protocol unreachable), I am assuming this is normal as CRS install did not complete successfully and the virtual IP is not bound yet.
Im pretty sure I have some kind of networking issue here, but I cant put my finger on it. I have tried absolutely everything that is suggested on the internet that I could find. Even deleting the /tmp/.oracle and /var/tmp/.oracle but nothing works. Ssh keys for root and oracle users exist and Ive connected using every possible combination to avoid that first time ssh prompt so users oracle on each node goes directly into rac1/rac2 rac1-priv/rac2-priv & actual IPs as well. Any ideas?

    Hello
Note 370605.1 (Clusterware Intermittently Hangs And Commands Fail With CRS-184) is telling this.
"This is caused by a cron job that cleans up the /tmp directory which also removes the Oracle socket files in /tmp/.oracle
Do not remove /tmp/.oracle or /var/tmp/.oracle or its files while Oracle Clusterware is up."

  • Create new Master Repository - oracle technology exist in logical topology

I have created a new master repository using the 'Create Master Repository' function in to an ORacle database user. This was all successful and I can sign in to topology manager as SUPERVISOR.
However I notice that the physical topology includes the 'oracle' technology in the list but this is NOT present in the logical topology.
When I import our models and projects that were developed elsewhere they fail becasue they are based on the oracle technology and this does not exist in the logical topology.
If I try to create the oracle technology or import it I get an error index violation on AK_TECHNO which is the index on the SNP_TECHNO table.
In the physical topology the oracle technology is shown as being both 'physical' and 'logical' (both check boxes are checked).
    Any ideas ?

how can I find a way of admitting that this was indeed the case......................
Turned off the hide unused technologoes and there they all are - including Oracle.................
So that explains why it appeared at some point before - once some data servers had been defined etc...........
I have my dataservers and schemas loaded now in the physical topology - but they are still not shoinwg in the logical topology - I think this is due to the data server in physical not being in the correct context. When I click the physical dataserver and go in to the contexts tab and choose global I get the error message (logical topology not configured for this context).

  • ODI 12c No Oracle Technology Under Logical Architecture

I have installed ODI 12c (Enterprise and Standalone) on XE 11g database. I have create a master repository and successfully logged in.
However under: Topology\Logical Architecture\Technologies there is no Oracle option only File and In-Memory Engine.
I have tried importing the Oracle technology XML file from: C:\oracle\middleware\ODI_Standalone_Home\odi\sdk\xml-reference twice and according to the import log it is being imported (and duplicated).
Have I missed a step? According to the ODE tutorial the Oracle technology (and many others) should exist under Topology\Logical Architecture\Technologies.

What about Physical Architecture?. Do you have Oracle under Physical Architecture?
You can view/hide unused technologies, may be you selected that option.

  • CRS installation: Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10

    Hello,
I am trying to install Oracle RAC in 10GR2 to simulate a migration from 1024 to 11GR2. I am using VMWARE with two Linux CentOS 64b 6.2 and shared disks as raw devices. I got "Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10" when running root.sh, on both nodes. The ocrcheck is fine, but I have two different IDs... which is not good and I do not understand why:
    - I have shared raw devices
    - the devices are the same, I checked this twice
    Can anyoane help?
I thank you all in advance.

    Hello,
The exact error message is the one in my subject description: Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10
This occurs when runing root.sh after the installation is successfull and there is no way to continue, the assistants are failing, which is logic, as the root.sh attempt to configure and run the CRS agents are not done successfully. The OCR ar ok with the same ID on both nodes, the minor in major values for the raw devices are and the firewall is disabled on both nodes. I checked the rights, they are also ok. The exact and complete return of the root.sh script is the following:
Checking to see if Oracle CRS stack is already configured
Setting the permissions on OCR backup directory
    Setting up NS directories
Oracle Cluster Registry configuration upgraded successfully
    Successfully accumulated necessary OCR keys.
