Oracle Terminal NLS keys mappings.
Dear Oracle Developer Community & Support Team!
Is it possible in Oracle Developer 2.0 to define my national
language keys mappings (for non-English keyboard layout) without
causing GPF (On Ms Windows NT platform)?
NLS_LANG is RUSSIAN_CIS.CL8MSWIN1251.
Sincerely yours,
Elias.

Problem changing default key bindings using Oracle Terminal
Hello,
I'm facing a problem changing default key bindings using Oracle Terminal. I changed
some bindings, saved them in forms60/fmrusw.res, started the generation and saved again.
I thought that's it but it wasn't. It took no effect at all in Forms (even after recompilation) although reopening the file in Terminal showed the changes. I'm using Forms in German, which means that even the key bindings displayed in Forms are translated i.e. STRG+F1 instead if CTRL+F1,
but I can't find a german version of this resource file, so i think it's the same resource file for all supported languages. But what is needed for the changes to take effect ?
Thanks in advance
STD
nullHi,
is it client/server you are working?
if so you should not be using the fmrusw.res file because I guess your NLS_LANG is German_Germany.WE8ISO8859P1 or something like that. This means the terminal that is being opened is fmrdw.res instead of fmrusw.res and this file should be edited using Oracle Terminal.
if you are working via the web implementation than you can open the file fmrweb.res in a text editor and change the keybindings in there. If you need to have the PC like key bindings on the web just open the fmrpcweb.res and see if it contains the German texts. If so you can either copy this file over the frmweb.res file or you can specify term=fmrpcweb.res in the serverargs parameter.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,

Oracle Terminal, key mapping
Hi everyone,
This is my problem, I would like to use KEY-Fn triggers. I used Oracle Terminal to change my Fmruws.res file but I think that It is not enough because they don't work at all. I know that F10 fire KEY-COMMIT but what can I do with the rest of them?
Thanks by advance,
EVA
EVA.You can write Key-Others trigger at Form level. This will suppress all other Function triggers except for F10 for which it will fire Key-Commit trigger which you have already written.
The other use of Key-Others trigger is that, say for example, if you want to show LOV by pressing F3 key instead of its default F9 key, you can write the code on Key-Dupitem trigger at Form level. That way if you press F9 key it won't show you the LOV.
Thanks.

Oracle Terminal, how can i simulate this setting into all client places
Hi friends,
i did setting at ORacle Terminal for ESC button to exit_form. it is ok working fine. i have his application installed into several client places, so, in all this places do i ahve to install Oracle terminal and change the key mappings or is any common registry setting i can add into the registry key, by copying FMRUSW.res file into my application folder,
i do have all my icons in my aplication folder and i add a registry key UI_ICON = 'myfloder', is there any possibility like this.
Thanks in advanceThat is one of the big problems with client/server forms. You have to install your FMRUSW.res on every machine running your application, or at least on a file server where the runforms software gets the fmx files.
Changing the resource file is not something you want to do on a regular basis. -
I have a problem running Oracle Terminal in command-line mode on Linux. I am very familiar with Oracle Terminal on Windows, but not with Linux. Unfortunately, I need to support Oracle Forms6i on Linux in character mode for the hand-held, wireless, bar-code scanners we use in our warehouse. They have a very limited keypad and we want to change a couple of the default key mappings for Oracle Forms6i on Linux.
I opened a TAR on this issue (3595315.999) a couple weeks ago, but so far it has not been resolved.
Does anyone know where to find documentation for running Oracle Terminal for Forms6i on Linux in character mode?
Or, does anyone know if the conversion utilities exist for Windows to convert the Oracle Terminal resource files from binary to text and vice versa. I have these utilities for Linux, but not for Windows. If I could get those for Windows, I could transfer the Linux resource file to Windows, edit it there and transfer it back. It's look like a joke. When I change NLS_LANG from POLISH_POLAND to AMERICA_AMERICAN in Developer Home everything start fine with English menu but... work heeehhhh........
Thx For Right Direction :))) -
Installing Oracle Terminal on a NT 4.0 station
We need to install oracle terminal, in order to map the page up and page down keys. The product isn't available on the install list. Has anyone else install oracle terminal in a windows environment or is there another way to map the up/down keys?
I did this but when I run the ot60.exe it says "ot: cannot find the application startup file.". Could you please tell me how to install this Oracle Terminal properly? Thanks.
Mandy

You may still need terminal if you are talking about Client Server key mappings.
In certain versions of the Developer CD Terminal was not available on the product list when you did a custom install.
To work around this simply copy the files manually from the CD:
OT60.EXE to your \bin directory
and
OTUSW.RES & OT.HLP to your TOOLS\COMMON60\ directory<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Oracle*Terminal configuration problem for Web deployment
Hello everyone!
I am a novice in using Oracle Forms 6i. I installed a Forms 6i Developer and Server at Windows 2000, the same machine where 8.1.6 Server is running (of cource I installed DB server and Developer in different Oracle_Home's).
Everything seems to be going well while trying "Client-Server" model. But I can not suceed in deploying forms to the Web. For example when I try "Run a form on the Web" standard option, after I try to run a standard test form (test.fmx), I get another Browser (IE5) window opened, then an applet loads and after that I get a Java-form inside of IE5 window with red bell picture and an error message: "Error while opening Oracle*Terminal file fmrweb."
Can anyone help me with an advise what to do in such situation?
Thank you in advance
Alexander IlinI can't answer the specific problem about the test, but the resource file is set up as follows:
The html file that invokes the Forms applet has a server argument showing where the terminal key-mapping file is stored on your forms server. In your case it appears to be looking for fmrweb.res and can't find it.
Take a look at the html and find the path it is using to look for it (I think you'll find this in the ServerArgs parameter). Then make sure the file is there on your Windows 2000 server.
If it isn't there, do a search for it in the server's Oracle_home directory, and then copy it to the directory where it is expecting it. Along with fmrweb.res, you can also use fmrpcweb.res - just replace fmrweb.res in your html file.
Hope that helps. -
Reading Forms Key Mappings from java bean - how ?
I want to be able to invoke key trigger code in a Forms 10g run-time from a java bean (extends BeanWrapper) either by:
a) using inherited method calls passing the KeyEvent retrieved from my listener, or
b) dispatching a custom event from the bean with a parameter value which identifies the key trigger to process (not the key code & modifier string).
On a), I've not been able to identify any method in the BeanWrapper hierarchy tree that might help me do this, and samples like (http://forms.pjc.bean.over-blog.com/categorie-465294.html) seem to imply that no such method exists.
In terms of b), the oracle.forms.engine.KeyMapTable class seems to be what I want (seems to translate the KeyEvent into a FormAction/string using server settings), but getting a hold of this object through (oracle.forms.engine.Main)getHandler().getApplet() doesn't seem possible.
How are others invoking eg: key-crerec from a Forms 10g bean component in a way which is sensitive to server key mappings ?
Thanks in advance for your help.I have no experience with KeyEvents in Forms, but if the KeyMapTable class really is the solution, can't you just instantiate one yourself.
Looking at the constructor it only needs a single argument, the oracle.forms.engine.Runform class. You should be able to get a handle on it with:
IHandler hander = getHandler();
if (handler instanceof UICommon) {
UICommon u = (UICommon)handler;
// u.getDispatcher() should get oracle.forms.engine.Runform
}Not sure if it will work, but you can give it a try.
I love pushing the PJC and Oracle Forms applet to its limits. Not really sure if Oracle intended the PJC framework to do stuff like this, but it sure would have helped if they have JavaDoc about the oracle.forms.* classes -
Hi,
In D2K, F7 Function key is performing particular task of setting the current form in enter_query mode. I want to overide this function, how can I do that?
I read on net that using oracle Terminal we can do this but where to Oracle Terminal.
Thanks in Advance
Praveen Kr. AroraOracle Terminal is to deep.
You can change this in your forms. Create a trigger KEY-ENTQRY. All F7 's are going through this trigger and can be handled. Create it on form-level, so each trigger in each block is redirected in this trigger through your new functionality.
try it

Update multilingual tables.
Applied Patch using adcrptop.sh from NLS Media(Arabic)
Logging in wih English works fine but
while logging in with Arabic language, html pages are working fine but for any java applet it gives the error
.Oracle*Terminal frmweb <some arabic words>.
Let m know what could be the reason?
Regards,
DBHi,
Regenerate the Arabic menus/forms via adadmin and check then.
What does this query return?
SQL> select NLS_LANGUAGE
from fnd_languages

Jheadstart oes not generate NLS key in resource bundle for Static domains
Hello
according to jhsdevguide1013 on section 6.5.2 about "Translation of static domains" when I check "Generate NLS-enabled prompts and tabs" and run application generator , Jheadstart oes not generate NLS key in resource bundle for Static domains.
Does anybody can help us for this problem?Thank you for reporting this, I have logged it as a bug.
As a workaround, you can customize the Generator Template default/item/staticDomainOptions.vm
See http://blogs.oracle.com/jheadstart/2006/11/30#a108 for an example how to let a template generate extra resource bundle keys.
Hope this helps,

Windows code for Ctrl+Q in Oracle Terminal
Hello!
We use Forms6i and Windows 95 OS and
in our forms people usually use CapsLock
to type info in upper case and some times
they can't use Exit button (Ctrl+q) because of this. That is why we would like to create
another one Key Binding Definition in Oracle Terminal with Action "Exit" and Binding
"Contol+Q". Did anybody try to define repeated Actions? Is it possible? And,
actually, the main quesion is - where can we
find windows codes for different combinations of keys?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance,
Andrew.Andrew,
You don't need any window codes to do this.
Just do the following:
a) run Oracle Terminal (you'll have to do a Custom Install if you don't have it installed.
b) open %ORACLE_HOME%\forms60\fmrusw.res
c) Choose Functions->Edit Keys.
d) Doubleclick the "Runform" circle.
e) Click in the "Exit" line.
f) Click the "Duplicate Row" button.
g) Change Control+q to Control+Q.
h) Ok, OK, Functions->Generate.
i) File->Save, File->Exit.
And if you were running Forms6i on the Web, it would be much simpler (the res file for Web is an ascii file).
Hope this helps,

hi....
I HAVE NEVER TRIED ORACLE TERMINAL MAPPING
I WANT TO USE HOT KEYS LIKE CONTROL+S FOR SAVING THE RECORDS
GIVE ME AN EXAMPLE
REGARDS
SANTOSH RANE
[email protected]In client server you use Oracle Terminal - do a google search and there are loads of hits and examples.
For web deployed its even easier - the frmweb.res file is a text file which does the key mapping.

Oracle Terminal. Adding new Function. Forms6i
Hi all, in Oracle Terminal I would like to map the key F2 with the trigger KEY-F2. The question is, what should I enter as 'action' in the key binding definition window?
Thanx.Frank, if he is using Client/Server Forms 6i, then Oracle Terminal is the only way to do it.
I think you can create an action with any text you want. You just have to use exactly the same (case-sensitive) action in both places: Key Bindings and Edit Actions.
My Key-F2 is defined this way:
Under 'windows-sqlforms', runform, normal, Edit Key Bindings:
Action: KEY-F2 Trigger
Binding: F2
Under 'windows-sqlforms', runform, normal, Product Actions:
click the sqlforms, runform, normal circle, then Edit Actions:
Action: KEY-F2 Trigger
Code: 84
Description: F2 Key for special uses

Oracle Terminal settings form Magic menu items
Dear Oracle Developer Community!
Is there any possibility to define any 'Hot Keys' for Magic
menu items via Oracle Terminal such as 'Cut', 'Paste' or 'Copy'?
Sincerely yours,
Elias
nullI think I have stumbled on the cause, and while i don;t exactly have a solution, if i am right then it is not a forms or browser issue.
I develop on Win primary with dual monitors - I just discovered when my browser is in my primary window, the menu items work fine - but if the browser is on my other monitor, then the menu items don't work.
Perhaps the forms blackend engine is only monitoring the primary monitor for key clicks at least on the menu bar...
...still weird behavior, but I no longer thing this is a issue.
