Oracle Text with Oracle TimesTen

Hi!
I'm trying to use Oracle Text with Oracle TimesTen In-Memory. In this customer, we are using Oracle Text to index the names of the company clients. There are about 13 million names to index. We're trying to speed up even more the search using Oracle TimesTen.
Does anybody as any experience using simultanely this two technologies?
Thanks in advance
Tiago Soares

TimesTen doesn't support the CONTEXT indextype or CONTAINS clause (or other domain indexes/operators), so you can't create Oracle Text indexes in it.

    I would like to be able to perform text searches in my OLITE 10g R2 database. Is is possible to install Oracle Text for use with OLITE? If so, how to I install it -- do I use the manual procedure described elsewhere, by taking the script files from an Oracle Enterprise or Standard Edition installation, and running those scripts against my OLITE db? Thanks.

    Marty,
    Did you ever resolve this issue? We would also like to run Oracle Text with OLite, but I cannot find any information on doing this.

  • Installation of Oracle Text in Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
    Could you please help me in installing ORACLE TEXT in Oracle 10g. What exactly ils this feature and how I can install it.
    Regards
    Harpreet Singh

    You don't need the companion CD to install Oracle Text.
    Oracle Text is installed by default if you have created your database using DBCA.
    However, if your database has been installed manually you may need to install this feature additionally.
    In order to check if the feature is already present check if CTXSYS schema exists:
    SQL> select username
      2  from dba_users
      3  where username='CTXSYS';
    USERNAME
    CTXSYS

  • Oracle VM with Oracle E-business suite Release 12.1.1

    Hi
    We are migrating our Oracle E-business suite from IBM Power 5 AIX 6.1. to OVM Intel (x86_64) bit, we have tested the migration in our test environment. We want to know how good or bad is OVM with oracle e-business suite in production environment, and if anybody is working on production environment with the similar configuration in Production environment then please share your experience with us
    Thank you
    Regards
    Shahrukh Yasin

    Hi Sharukh,
    Virtualization of course the trend in modern era, and I personally advice you to have a thorough testing on performance and specifically simulate workloads and check the behavior. I don't personally go on to support Virtualization on Production environment as it incurs additional cost like CPU usage, memory usage borrowed by other environment being virtualized. And as it does not directly work with the hardware. May be some will be against this point, but I see as if it incurs additional resources. Being said this, I am not completely against Virtualizationas long as it is not a heavy 24/7 environment. I would go on to support the ideology, saying it's best to choose the right technology to right environment.

  • Oracle Portal with Oracle Web Cache

    How can I configure Oracle Portal (or Web Cache) to work together?
    I have installed and started both of them. Now, Web Cache works fine with standard html pages (for example Apache docs) but after trying to reach portal the url is redirected to standard port - on which Portal runs (Web Cache works on 1100 and Portal on 7778).
    So it seems that portal pages are not cached.
    Web Cache:
    Application Web Servers:
    hpwin 7778 100 30 5 / 10
    Where can I find any information about that?
    best regards
    KJ

    Portal PM, I thought you said that this solution would not work. Everyone I have heard so far has said that you cannot configure webcache to work with Portal documents. Does this work or does it not?
    Read the messages below from the bottom up.
    It's not possible to do that today.
    In 9.0.2 (the next release) we will be using WebCache configured out of the box so you won;t need to, however, till then you cannot use webcache with Portal 3.0.x
    Thanks

The associations are set up at time of installation so that if a user right clicks a claimed file, the OS should offer to send the document to (possibly a group of programs which include) our application.
    I am not sure what you mean by "program to be able to add" shortcuts. Do you mean the application might need to do this after first being installed?
    What exactly are the menu items the program tries to add? e.g. 'open', 'print', 'add to archive', 'crash & burn'...

  • How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

    How to integrate oracle webcenter with oracle webcenter Sites?

    This very much depends on what you mean by the first "oracle webcenter" and what kind of integration you are looking for.
    Oracle WebCenter contains three main product lines:
    - Oracle WebCenter Portal,
    - Oracle WebCenter Sites,
    - and Oracle WebCenter Content.
    Since the newest version 11.1.1.8 it is possible to store Sites' assets in WebCenter Content.
    WebCenter Portal, where the name WebCenter originated from, is another front-end technology, so it would rather co-exist next to Sites than integrate with them. See this thread WebCenter Portal and WebCenter Sites Integration for more details.

  • Using Oracle Text with Apex

    Can someone point me to some resources on how to integrate Oracle Text and APEX to do searches, highlight results, etc (all the features of Oracle Text)?
    The data to be indexed is in files on the filesystem, so I would like to keep it that way and use the FILE_DATASTORE option for Text.
    Thanks for any pointers.
    Update: Yes, I did see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/pdf/apex_text_application_v1.6.pdf
    but the search results there just returns the URL/file containing the "hit". It doesn't show the actual text fragment that caused the match, doesn't highlight it, etc. I am looking for a real Google-like search. Hm, having said that, I might as well use Google Desktop! Nah, where's the fun in that?

    This is a very simple application for my own use. It started life in 8i when there were fewer Text options.
    As such, it uses the query string as entered. This returns all of the matches:
    select msgid, msgdate, Box, fromaddr, subject
      from eudora.inbox
    where contains(body, :P703_MailSearch) > 0
    order by msgdate descI display the selected result like this:
    select subject,
      Replace(eudora.mmarkup(:P704_MSGID, :P702_SEARCH), Chr(13), '<BR>') Body
      from eudora.inbox
    where msgid = :P704_MSGIDIn a newer application, I experimented with the CTXCAT grammer.
    That query looks like this:
    select m.ID, m.pdpno, m.shortdesc
      from pdp_mast m
    where contains(m.dphistory, '<query><textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CTXCAT">
                                             ' || :P1_Text || '
                                         </textquery>
                                      <score datatype="INTEGER"/>
                                  </query>') > 0
        or contains(m.shortdesc, '<query><textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CTXCAT">
                                             ' || :P1_Text || '
                                         </textquery>
                                      <score datatype="INTEGER"/>
                                  </query>') > 0As always, once you figure out the syntax, its easy to make it work in Apex.
    Text indexes are very fast. On my old 600MHz PC, searches in 250MB of text take less than a second.

  • Oracle Text with Numbers

    Hello,
    I need to search in a number column for particular "subnumbers". For
    example I have a column with 3453454 in it an I like to search e.g for the
    number "53" in it. I know I could use
    select * from table where number_column like '%53%'
    but since the table is rather big I'd like to use Oracle Text for it to avoid a full table scan and query like
    select * from table where contains(number_column, '53') > 0
    but above query would return NULL after converting the number column
    to a varchar2 column! Only full numbers are indexed and therefore only
    a search on the full number 3453454 would yield a result. What are my
    options to make above query with "contains" clause work?
    Thanks in advance

    You can configure Text to do substring searches.
    Do this:
    ctx_ddl.create_preference( 'SUBSTR_SUPPORT_PREF', 'basic_wordlist' );
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute( 'SUBSTR_SUPPORT_PREF', 'SUBSTRING_INDEX', 'YES' );
    Then you can do something like:
    where contains(col,'%53%',1) > 0
