Oracle TimesTen and OBIEE

Hi all,
Does anyone have experience with Oracle Times Ten database and OBIEE?
To me it seems like the performance would be significantly improved or is that just a theory?

Hi,
We are also trying similar integration Oracle RTD with Siebel Analytics instead of OBIEE. Did you get any update, please let me know
-Thanks

  • Oracle TimesTen and IBM solidDB

Does anyone know if there are any documents comparing the two products in terms of features and capability. I have been searching the net for such document but to no avail.
    Thanks

Using MGW to move messages between ibm mq and oracle aq has been pretty good to me, once it got set up it's run pretty trouble free.
Every once in a great while I have to reset the subscribers to tell oracle to start moving messages after they get stuck -- after downtime or whatnot, but in general it's been pretty reliable.
Anyway, stack trace indicates your mq server isn't (wasn't) responding, at least not on the IP/port you specified.

  • Exalytics OBIEE, TimesTen and Views

    Hi all,
I'm currently working on a prototype with an Exalytics box. I have several schemas in the TimesTen database with caching groups using 11g in one Exadata as source. On TimesTen there's one extra schema that UNIONs ALL the information from all schemas into several Views. These Views are then used as OBIEE source.
The first problem I ran into is that after adding the Views into OBIEE RPD Physical Layer, I'm not able to right click on the View and go into Physical Diagram, the option is not highlighted. I've imported tables from other schemas in TimesTen and was successfully able to join them in the Physical Diagram, the option is available to click, for Views it isn't, which is strange - You can use Oracle 11g Views as OBIEE source and it works perfectly.
I've also tried to right click the Views in the RPD and View Data in the Physical Layer and OBIEE simply returns me a lot of errors, as can be seen below:
    [NQODBC][SQL_STATE:HY000][nQSError: 10058] A general error as occurred.
[nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS.
[nQSError: 43093] An error occurred while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
[nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: 3700 code: 7025 message:
[TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.2.5.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT7025: Illegal use of reserved keyword "FROM", character position: 9 -- file "ptSqlY.y", lineno 9243, procedure "reserverd_word_or_syntax_error".
[nQSError: 16014] SQL Statement preparation failed.
Using TimesTen trace monitor I was able to see what query originated this error, and it was the following one:
    15:39:50.592 73 SQL      2L   11C   4393P Preparing: select  from DIM_DATE_VW
    15:39:50.592 74 SQL      4L   11C   4393P sbSqlCmdCompile1()(E): cmdType:100, cmdNum:1001123.

Is this some sort of known bug or limitation between OBIEE, TimesTen and Views? Can anyone help?
    I'm running TimesTen 11.2.2.5.0, Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 and OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1.
    Best regards,
    André

Who said you must buy Exalytics in order to use TT with OBIEE? If you already have it, just create an RPD connection pools and off you go. You won't be able to use all the nice bits 'n pieces a full Exalytics sports, but where OBIEE is concerned, it's just a source like any other.

  • Install Oracle 11G, RAC with VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE on one server?

    Dear Experts,
I'm looking to upgrade my skills, and want to learn more of:
Oracle 11G, RAC, VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE
My server has two quad cores (8 CPU altogether) and 16 gigs of RAM.
Years ago, I took a shots at installing RAC on multiple servers and firewire.
One thing I remember was that after I installed RAC, I was not able to use the database unless I enabled all the RAC processes on the server. So, I was not able to just boot the database and use it in the traditional single server manner.
Which I will also want to do.
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist?
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
If so, what is the order of operations for the install?
    3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install
Oracle 11G, OBIEE, and APPS R12,
Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
    11G, R12, then OBIEE?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist? No.
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
If so, what is the order of operations for the install? For learning/traning/demonstration purpose you can Install all these software on same machine.
    3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install
Oracle 11G, OBIEE, and APPS R12,
Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
11G, R12, then OBIEE?There will not be any conflicts. I would suggest you to select vmware or virtual box in order to configure all these sw's.
I have done such a configuration on my laptop with i7 Quad processor, 16GB RAM and 640 GB HDD.
I have Installed 2 node RAC, 2 Node ERP and all are running smoothly without any issues.

  • Installing Oracle Clusterware and TimesTen

I am attempting to setup TimesTen with Oracle Clusterware and this website "Installing Oracle Clusterware and TimesTen" says that I should "Install Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.2" however, when I go and look for I found this page:  "Oracle Grid Infrastructure Downloads" however as you can see from that page it does not have version 11.2.0.2.
Does anyone know where I can get Clusterware 11.2.0.2?
Would version 12.1.0.1.0 work for me?
    Thanks,
    Victor

Thanks for the info on 12.1.0.1.0 :-(
If you look at eDelivery 11.2.0.2 is not available.  I guess I will have to go with setting TimesTen setup without the Grid Infrastructure (i.e. use these instructions instead - "Active Standby Pair with TimesTen In-Memory Database")

  • Re: Hyperion and OBIEE

    Hi all,
Is Hyperion and Obiee a open source? What is the advantage of using Obiee reports instead of hyperion reports?

  • Differences between oracle 10gr2 and 11gr2 warehouse bulider

    Hi All,
Could you please let me know the main differences between Oracle 10gr2 and Oracle 11gR2 warehouse builder.
Also , it would be great if anyone point me to the document where i can see the major differences.
    Thanks,
    Naveen.

    Hi Naveen,
The major difference between OWB10gR2 and 11gR2 is the target RDBMS.
In 10gR2 you have to use ORACLE as your target RDBMS (unless you are going for DB Gateways, that is a complete different story).
Where as in 11gR2 allows you to use any RDBMS as your target system . This is achieved by Code-Template mapping.
All is needed is that proper jdbc driver for the target system.
Also 11gR2 supports OBIEE RPD creation and etc.

Request you to respond with your valuable comments.
    Regards
    Pratheej

    Hi Pratheej,
These vulnerabilities were fixed in 11.2.1.6.1 and 7.0.6.2.0. As you are on 11.2.1.8.4 you are okay for 11.2.1 but the 7.0.5.16.0 release does contain the vulnerability. If you are concerned then you should upgrade those to 7.0.6.2.0 or later (check for the latest applicable 7.0 release in My Oracle Support).

  • Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache

    Hi,
What is difference in Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database VS Oracle In-Memory Database Cache.
For 32 bit on windows OS i am not able to insert data's more than 500k rows with 150 columns (with combinations of CHAR,BINARY_DOUBLE,BINARY_FLOAT, TT_BIGINT,REAL,DECIMAL,NUMERIC etc).
[TimesTen][TimesTen 11.2.2.2.0 ODBC Driver][TimesTen]TT0802: Database permanent space exhausted -- file "blk.c", lineno 3450, procedure "sbBlkAlloc"
I have set Perm size as 700 mb,Temp size as 100mb
What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 32 bit on windows OS.
What is the max size we can given for PermSize,TempSize,LogBufMB for 64 bit on windows OS.
What is the Max configuration of TT for 32 bit what i can set for Perm size Temp size.
    Thanks!

They are the same product but they are licensed differently and the license limits what functionality you can use.
TimesTen In-Memory Database is a product in its own right allows you to use TimesTen as a standalone database and also allows replication.
IMDB Cache is an Oracle DB Enterprise Edition option (i.e. it can only be licensed as an option to an Oracle DB EE license). This includes all the functionality of TImesTen In-Memory Database but adds in cache functionality (cache groups, cache grid etc.).
32-bit O/S are in general a poor platform to try and create an in-memory database of any significant size (32-bit O/S are very limited in memory addressing capability) and 32-bit Windows is the worst example. The hard coded limit for total datastore size on 32-bit O/S is 2 GB but in reality you probably can;'t achieve that. On Windows the largest you can get is 1.1 GB and most often less than that. If you need something more than about 0.5 Gb on Windows then you really need to use 64-bit Windows and 64-bit TimesTen. There are no hard coded upper limit to database size on 64-bit TimesTen; the limit is the amount of free physical memory (not virtual memory) in the machine. I have easily created a 12 GB database on a Win64 machine with 16 GB RAM. On 64-bit Unix machines we have live database of over 1 TB...

    Hello
Did anyone already try to get Essbase 11.1.2 and OBIEE 11g installed on the same box? In my case I am trying it on OEL 5.5 64bit.
    How did you proceed?
First Essbase or first OBIEE or have WLS installed standalone first?
    Encountered any hurdles?
Thanks for any hints or links.

After the install and configuration of both the hyperion and obiee products i nead to configure any extra activities  for integration hyperion (workspace and shared services)with obiee?

    Hi,
It is mentioned in Jon's blog entry, you must edit the HSSRegistration.bat file.
    Near the top add:
    set ORACLE_BI_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1
    set ORACLE_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1
    set JAVA_HOME=E:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\jdk
Editing for your environment as appropriate.
