Oracle to SAP BI with BCS u2013 Best Data flow Design.

Hi,
  We are a SAP implementation team. We are @ Blue Print stage. My client is a RETAIL Business Gaint. Client has 50 % of Transaction data and Master data in Oracle data base. Now we are moving to BI 7.0 and also has plans to use SAP-BCS.
  We would like to map all the existing Oracle tables to BI. Provide any clue regarding the best Data flow (From Oracle 10G to BI 7.0).
Your quick and valuable suggestion/ links are highly appreciated.
Warm Regards,
Bab

Hi Ashok,
You have mentioned that you have a Oracle 10g  system as a data inflow which perfectly sets the platform to extract the data from the Oracle  system to SAP BW system.
This Can be done through the DB connect ,through where you could select the necessary tables and form them as a datasource in BI system,further creating the usual BI objects on top of the DS.
Once the Data is in BI ,we could pull the BI cube or form a replica of the cube in BCS application format to use it in the BCS environment.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Rajesh.

    Right now  we need to implement  HR related  data - the main concentration is PA, OM
    Please suggest me best suitable data flow design
    Note: All my datasource will not support delta
    How we can handle these loads in SAP BI side  -  I mean to stay how to handle these loads by using DTP
    Please suggest some good data flow. I will assign some good points on this

    Hi Madan,
       You can find the data flow in metadata repository in RSA1. Goto the metadata repository-> select your datasource ->
       network  display.
       DTP: You can extract both full/delta using the DTP.

    R11.0.3: An Invoice with future dated apyment data flow
    ===============================================
    PURPOSE
    Future Dated Payment Term을 사용하는 Invoice의 Data Flow에 대해 살펴보도록 한다.
    Explanation
    accounting rule = accrual
    .allowed future dated payment
    1. Create a standard invoice (invoice amount: 2100, item amount: 2100, payment term : future dated payment)
    And transfer it to GL.
    * ap_invoice_distributions_all
    accounting_date = 2003-11-11
    accrual_posted_flag = Y
    posted_flag = Y
    * ap_trial_balance
    accounting_date = 2003-11-11
    distribution_amount = 2100
    * 해당 data gl_interface table로 넘어감.
    2. Posting these transferred journals in gl module
    * 해당 data가 gl_interface table에서 삭제 된 후
    * gl_je_lines
    accounted_dr = 2100 charge
    accounted_cr = 2100 liability
    3. Create a payment against this invoice with mature date = 12-nov-2003 and then transfer it to gl
    * ap_invoice_payments_all
    accounting_date = 2003-11-11
    accrual_posted_flag = 'N'
    posted_flag = 'N'
    future_pay_posted_flag = 'Y'
    * ap_payment_distributions_all
    line_type_lookup_code = 'CASH'
    * ap_trial_balance
    accounting_date = 2003-11-11
    payment_amount = 2100
    * ap_checks_all
    status_lookup_code = 'NEGOTIABLE'
    4. Posting these payment journals in gl module
    * 해당 data가 gl_interface table에서 삭제 된 후
    * gl_je_lines
    accounted__cr : 2100 future pay
    accounted_dr : 2100 liability
    5. Clear this payment and then transfer to gl
    Future dated payment 이고 Cash Management 를 사용하면 Cash Management 에서
    Bank Reconcilation을 해주시면 됩니다.
    Cash Management 를 사용하지 않으실 때는
    "automatic clearing for future dated payment" 를 수행하여서 clear 를 해주어야 합니다.
    이번 test case에서는 cash managemnt를 사용하지 않고 automatic clearing for
    future dated payment 를 수행하여 clear 해주었습니다.
    * ap_checks_all
    status_lookup_code = 'CLEARED BUT UNACCOUNTED'
    Cash Management를 사용하지 않기 때문에 status가 위와 같이 나타납니다.
    Cash Management를 사용하면 option에 따라 status가 cleared나 reconciled로 변경 됩니다.
    6. Transfer these cleared payment to gl and posting in gl
    * 이 때에는 ap_trial_balance table에는 아무런 영향도 주지 않습니다.
    * ap_invoice_payments_all
    accrual_posted_flag = 'Y'
    posted_flag = 'Y'
    * gl_je_lines
    accounted_dr= 2100 future pay
    accounted_cr = 2100 cash

    Rohini,
      Thanks for your answer; I was out for few days and hence the delay.
      What I am looking for is the complete usage model of the following ODS.
    1> 0BBP_SC     we have figured it out
    2> 0BBP_SCA    we have figured it out
    3> 0BBP_DOC    we have figured it out
    4> 0bbp_inv    we need help
         Looks like this can be populated from R3 using the following
    Data Source    Info Source                    ODS Object
    2LIS_02_ITM    2LIS_02_ITM                 0BBP_INV
    2LIS_02_HDR    2LIS_02_HDR                0BBP_INV
    5> 0BBP_DS     we need help
    6> 0bbp_po     we need help
        The same combination is also used to populate the 0BBP_PO as well. We suspect that 0BBP_DS will then be populated from both 0BBP_INV and 0BBP_PO. At least that what we though after activating the BC and reading the sap help on BC for SRM.
      We are doing a proof of concept and want to know all the ODS with data. We want to build an end to end (Shopping cart, approval, Doc flow, PO data with value, Invoice data with Value) and struggling to understand the model surrounding this three ODS ( 0bbp_inv, 0bbp_ds, 0bbp_po). Any help in this area will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Problem with context mapping and data flow in a FPM application

    Hi All,
    I am trying to develop an ESS application using FPM. For the same, the requirement is to see the history of an employee in the second view.
    The first view has got just the overview information and the second one has got the detail. So, the records or the fields are the same on both the views.
    As per the FPM guidelines, the Model is residing in the Fc component and the respective Vc components are using the model data accordingly.
    I am executing the model in the Fc component calling the executable method in the interfaceController of the first view and then trying to display the output data of the BAPI in the first view which provides the overview information.This is working fine.
    But when i am trying to map the same output node to the Table UI for the second view, the record size is coming zero and thus no information is available.
    For the above issue, I am again executing the RFC in the InterfaceController of the second view to populate the records, which is incorrect as it is already executed and the data is available for the first view.
    I request you to let me know the correct approach to Context mapping and data flow when using FPM-roadmap. Is their any standard method or approach available to deal with such requirements? Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    DK

    Hi Idhaya,
    I model node is available in Fc and the Fc interface controller is being used in the first Vc and the second Vc.
    So the idea is, as the executable method is generated in the Fc, so i have created a custom method to call the executable method in Fc, where the input parameter is getting passed and this custom method is finally getting called is the first Vc.
    So , now my first Vc is ready to call the custom method in Fc and execute the RFC. Once the RFC is executed, the nodes in the Fc should get populated which is the ideal case.
    And as the Fc is used as a component in the second Vc, the same node is available to the UI elements.
    But, when I check the record size for the output node, it is always zero, for the second Vc.

  • SQLServer to oracle migration. Issue with table having image data.

    Hi,
    I am using the SQL Developer version 1.5.0.53 Build MAIN-53.38. I am trying to migrate from sql server database to oracle. Sql server database version is 2005 and oracle database version is 10g (10.1.0.2 and 10.2.0.3). Both Oracle and Sql server databases are on windows-xp.
    Everything (including data) migrated well except for the one table having blob (oracle) and image(sqlserver). I am getting the following error in sql developer while migrating data for the blob from sql server to oracle.
    Data Move information:Rows : 497 Errors: 10278
    Commit failed: Closed Connection
    Must be logged on to server
    [POCRepository].[td].[REPOSITORY] Closed Connection
    Io exception: Software caused connection abort: socket write error
    [POCRepository].[td].[REPOSITORY] OALL8 is in an inconsistent state
    No more data to read from socket
    [POCRepository].[td].[REPOSITORY] No more data to read from socket
    Inserting ' ' into column td_POCRepository.REPOSITORY.RP_DATA (Row number 498)
    I have created sqldeveloper.cmd file as suggested in other threads and I am using the same java provided with SQL Developer 1.5.0.53.
    The database alertsid.log shows the following error messages for this activity.
    ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ACCESS_VIOLATION] [0x34EF9E5] [] [] [] []
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kghasp1], [0x5F3B718], [], [], [], [], [], []
    ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ACCESS_VIOLATION] [0x34EF9E5] [] [] [] []
    The error ORA-00600[kghasp1] refers to the problem with heap memory. I also restarted the database and tried the data migration for only this table but with the same error.
    I tried it on both 10g release1 and 10g release 2.
    Can someone please help me in resolving this issue.
    Thanks
    Raghavendra

    Hi Raghavendra,
    Are you saying the Microsoft SQL Server bcp dump of image data failed? It has been tested, it results in a hex dump rather than a binary dump, hence the clob to blob, and hextoraw workaround.
    What are the version numbers and what is the reproducible test case?
    -Turloch
    Note that the clob to blob process is automated:
    Tools->preferences->Migration->Generation Options->General Options->Generate Stored Procedure for Migrate Blobs Offline
    From Help:
    Generate Stored Procedure for Migrate Blobs Offline: Causes a stored procedure named CLOBtoBLOB_sqldeveloper (with execute access granted to public) to be created if the schema contains a BLOB (binary large object); this procedure is automatically called if you perform an offline capture. If this option is not checked, you will need to use the manual workaround described in Populating the Destination Database Using the Data Files. (After the offline capture, you can delete the CLOBtoBLOB_sqldeveloper procedure or remove execute access from public.)

  • Problems with BCS Queries Inconsistent Data

    Hi BI Experts,
    We recently had our BCS upgrade from 4.0 to 6.0 and BW upgrade from 3.5 to 7.0
    We have created some consolidated queries and we didnt change them to 7.0 they are still in 3.5 version. The problem is that we are getting some inconsistent data every time we ran those queries.
    The BWP is yet to under go upgrade process so we checked  the data in BWP (3.5) production and BWD (7.0) this tells us that the data in the tables are right.
    I ran the query in RSRT and gives inconsistent data.
    We are on the support pack 10 for BCS and
    support pack 14 for BI 7.0.

    Sorry guys....
    I want to correct one statement up there ...when I run my queries with through RSRT i dont get any inconsistent data ..the data comes exactly the way we want ...the problem is only through the BEx.
    Is it a upgrade bug or the support pack issue ..???
    Your suggestions will be appreciated with lots of points
    Thanks

  • Best Approach for integrating SAP CRM with Outage Management System

    Hi All,
    We are moving towards deploying Outage Management System (Oracle Utilities NMS) to help localize the fault, achieve Outage Management and a transparent network with a near-real time stats. We already have SAP ECC 6.0, ISU, SAP PI 7.0 and SAP CRM 7.0. One of the challenges we are facing is to decide how should we go about the integration of SAP CRM with Oracle's Outage Management System.
    Here is a sample business scenario,
    CSR receives a call from a consumer and inquires about planned outages for a particular area.
    This information is contained in the Outage Management System (OMS). OMS is SOA based and is hosted on Oracle Service Bus.
    I want to know that is there any ES Bundles available for CRM-OMS integration? Should we go about Service Based Integration? What are the alternatives to Service based integration? Can it be done using BAPIs?
    We receive around 1000 consumer complains and against every complain a ticket is generated in CRM. Now If CRM is integrated with OMS using SAP PI, the volume of the data being exchanged via PI is very much high and exceeds our licensed volume for SAP PI. So I do need to know the best practices for either approach that you may recommend.
    Regards,
    Adil Khalil

    does anyone have an idea about this one, I've asked this question in a few places and no one really seems clear about it.
    Also, I've read here and there that SAP Business One is not a real SAP product. It was bought by SAP and is sold by them but has little do to with SAP's technology (R/3, SAP ERP, Netweaver, SAP CRM, ...), and that therefore they don't support it that much ? Is any of this right ?
    I'm just trying to get my vision of the SAP universe clear.

    SAP does neither "recommend" nor "deny" any processors.
    If you check http://service.sap.com/benchmarks then you get a lot of machines with different CPUs/operating ssytems and database combinations.
    Choose the one that suits best for you.

  • Best practice for oracle 10.2 RAC with ASM

    Did any one tried/installed Oracle 10.2 RAC with ASM and CRS ?
    What is the best practice?
    1. separate home for CRS, ASM and Oracle Database?
    2. separate home for CRS and same home for ASM and Oracle Darabase?
    we set up the test environment with separate CRS, ASM and Oracle database homes, but we have tons of issues with the listener, spfile and tnsnames.ora files. So, seeking advise from the gurus who implimeted/tested the same ?

    I am getting ready to install the 10gR2 database software (10gR2 Clusterware was just installed ) and I want to have a home for ASM and another for database as you suggest. I have been told that 10gR2 was to have a smaller set of binaries that can be used for the ASM home ... but I am not sure how I go about installing it. The first look at the installer does not seem to make it obvious...Is it a custom build option?

    You have to add the client library path (may be most likely /opt/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_3/lib) to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable in the .sapenv_<hostname>.csh or .sh script.

  • Connect SAP XI with External Oracle DB.

    hi,
    I have a reqt to connect SAP Xi with third party Oracle DB .
    What is required ?
    Please suggest me the steps .
    Regards
    PS

    Hi,
    What do you mean by "at a time'?
    If you are asking if how many database drivers can be deployed on the XI server, then the answer is you can have more than one.
    But you need to know the versions of the databases to get the appropriate JDBC drivers.
    If you are asking about the JDBC communication channels in XI, you can have only one JDBC connection string per channel.
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP Integration with Oracle AQ

    Hi,
    I'm developing a SAP solution without XI as another Integration system has been proposed.
    The problem is that I would like to communicate SAP with the Integration system through Oracle Advanced Queuing, that is, send  SAP Idocs trough Oracle queues.
    Is SAP compatible with Oracle AQ? Do I need to implement any adaptor like JMS, iWay or similar(I've seen there are a lot developed in the market)?
    Thanks!

    What I told you is different from an RFC (You can also call an RFC as you said). When you create a BAPI it is automatically published as a Web Service. Going to the <u>webservice browser</u> in <u>BSP applications</u>(<u>transaction SE80</u> in your SAP). There you have the WDSL of each BAPI.  This way you don't need XI. The WSDL export all the functionallity of the BAPI and it's the same as execute the BAPI itself.
    If you use XI you can do the same using a SOAP adapter. Even if it is equivalent doing that throw XI have many advantages, above all if you have many aplications to consume.

    Hi,
    This was one of the good session...
    Especially the features such as;
    -- TCP/IP connection control with JMS adapters
    -- Empty file Handling
    -- Set the various Attributes for Mail attachments via dynamic configuration (intially only subject line was possible)
    -- Message Prioritization
    -- single IDOC Ack for IDOC Packaging
    -- IDOC packaging
    -- and many more........................
    Even the future indicatioon of IDOC J2EE based adapter will provide new direction to the existion IDOC related scenarios..
    One thing that was changed in IDOC packaging is to control it via Sender Communication channel...intially we were doing it either via ECC system or with t-code "idxpw"
    Its almost in same way...but from J2EE based adapter perceptive IDOC packaging will be available with Java stack...and will no need to depend only ABAp stack for this feature.
    Thanks
