    We at Oracle always strive hard to cater to our customer's training requirement in any area. Thus, we keep building our curriculum on the latest, niche areas, ie., Fusion Middleware, ERP packages on R12, Database programs on 11g etc. Not only we conduct training on niche areas, but also on the areas like 9i, 10g 11i and others.
    Through this forum, we would like to reach out as many customers as possiible and cater to their training requirements.
    Below are my contact details and we would be more than glad to assist in any kind of query of yours.

  • UTL_FILE Oracle training sessions

    I’m working on writing a pl/sql package to read the flat file, parse the data and load it into the table using UTL_FILE.fopen, DBMS_LOB.OPEN.
    I'd like to take some sessions related to this topic if Oracle training center conduct. Can someone suggest which course would best fit?
    Thanks,
    Menon

    This most certainly isn't the correct place to ask, and I don't even know what courses you like to attend. However; the course do not reinvent the wheel might be apropriate.
    This is exactly what external tables are for:

  • Lockdown oracle http server to only specific applications

    I want to lock down oracle http server to only allow access to specific apex applications..
    I tried changeing the dads.conf from
    <Location /apex>
    to
    <Location /apex/f?p=>
    but then nothing ran..

    Hello,
    Essentially you want to tie down access to just a few applications correct?
    Some Apache rules similar to the following would do the job -
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}%{QUERY_STRING} !/pls/apex/f?p=(454:.*)
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}%{QUERY_STRING} /pls/apex/f?p=(.*)
    RewriteRule ^.* - [F]There are a huge number of ways to write these rules (that's just the first one that sprang to mind, so it may not be particularly optimal). Basically I restrict access to only application 454 (the second line is to check that the URL is /pls/apex etc), as I said lots of different ways to write this depending on your exact needs.
    Hope this helps,
    John.

  • Pricing of oracle training

    am aiming for OCP but the requirement is a paid training from oracle.
    i find the price quite high.
    Is oracle currently reviewing the prices so that they become more affordable ?
    at least for the self-study course.
    the above is for :
    Oracle Database 12c: Administration Workshop Ed 2 NEW

    techvicky wrote:

    John's and Matthew's answers are good and I may repeat some of their answers.
    (1) Self study courses do not count for certification training requirements.  Therefore waste of money for that purpose.
    (2) It is a common disconception that the course to be taken has to be for example 'Oracle Database 12c: Administration Workshop Ed 2'.  But there are many courses satisifying the Oracle 12c DBA OCP training requirement; in fact a number of 2 day courses are now satisfying the requirement. In general cost of course is (number of days) * (min-cost per day) * (factor for advanceness of course, typically say 1.0 to 1.3?).
    (3) Some countries are designated lowercost and the course may be taken cheaper there.  This can often help emigrants from a 'low cost' country who return there for holidays.
    (4) Courses from Oracle University are usually delivered with high quality ( and may come with a 100% satisfaction guarentee).  Instructors are typically good.  ( I speak from having 14 days of paid course in UK over 25 years).
    (5) There may be the opportunity to take one of the above qualifying courses delivered from an oracle approved education centre,  This may work out; and it can go very very very wrong.
    (6) There may also be an opporunity to take a qualifying course from and Oracle Workforce Development Programme (O)WDP.  This is likely to be cheaper (the course should be sone over a few weeks) but the instructor quality may vary (That is not to say that some can be very good to say the least).  See https://workforce.oracle.com/pls/wdp_ekit/new_home.main.  I am usually loathe to recommend this because of problem people will have said in the past.
    The institutions mentioned in [5] and [6] will always tell you how great they are (some will even say they ARE Oracle University) .... but caution is advised  .... see this somewhat old link ( https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/are_you_getting_your_training ).  If anything goes what your dispute is with that institution and not Oracle.
    You should also consider what you as a candidate need.  Would you benefit from the oracle backup and recovery practice and real lift experience given by an Oracle University oracle instructor in ''Oracle Database 12c: Administration Workshop Ed 2' ?
    Or can you self learn the whole syllabus (from self practice, oracle press, oracle learning library) with prehaps a 'top up' of a short 2 day course on some subject?
    Put another way:
    I am presented with 3 candidates for a job all showing the same DBA OCP qualification.
    - One shows he has attended Oracle OWDP course.
    - One has attended Oracle University 'Oracle Database 12c: Administration Workshop Ed 2'
    - One has attended a 'Multitenant course' at oracle university'
    Who get thes job ?
    The answer is ....
    - [1] A lot of (other) factors will be taken in consideration.
    - [2] You probably won't get this job without practical experience.
    - [3] I am the only (certification) geek who would take the above into consideration ... and I would respect one with have a considered and class A critique of their reasons.  I'd need to check the ''Multitenant course' guy can really recover a database and setup good database backups; and I'd wonder the the OWDP guy had actually attended the course!

  • How to remove a oracle form from read only format

    I need to personalize an Oracle form for one responsibility. But when i open through that responsibility, it is opening in read only format. When i open the same form through super user responsibility, then it is opening up-datable format. I tried different options like 'System Profiles- HR Query only to 'NO'', 'Removing Query-Only'. but still i can open it only in read only format where i need to make some fields up-datable.
    Any suggestions please?

    Hi All,
    I have an Standard E-Business Suite screen.
    This is the Transaction Overview Screen, which is in Read-Only Mode.
    The Value of the unit price is rounded on 2 decimal.
    We tried to change this with Perzonilization, but the the error is coming up
    "FRM-40602: Cannot insert into or update data in a view"
    What are we doing wrong.
    Thanks for your support.

  • How to import oracle 9i database tables only to oracle 10g express edition

    I had a database dump file created in oracle 9i now i want to import the 9i database table to oracle 10xe...

    Depends whats in the export file, was it a full, user, or tablespace export?
    One way to find out whats in the dump file, run an import show=y and it will only pull out the DDL for the objects in the file
    $ imp file=<dumpfile name> log=implog.log show=y
    username: system
    There are lots of options and ways to run imp, 10g Utilities doc has all the details, here's the chapter on the original imp and exp utilities: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14215/exp_imp.htm#i1023560
    If you only want one schema, just the tables, no data, no indexes, create your target user, and do a schema import no rows, no indexes, maybe leave out the grants and statistics too:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> connect system
    SQL> create user target_user identified by <passwd> default tablespace <tblspc>;
    SQL> exit;
    $ imp file=... log=... fromuser=<source username> touser=target_user rows=n indexes=n statistics=none grants=n

  • Starting up an Oracle database in read only mode

    Is there a way to have an oracle database start up in "read only" mode every time the instance is shutdown and strated back up. I need to accomplish this without any sort of manual intervention? Is there a parameter that can be set in init.ora etc... ? I am using oracle version 9.2.
    Thanks in advance.

    Operating System info is useful.
    On *nix, it's a simple matter to edit the dbstart script.  On Windows, I'd start investigating the 'net start' command.

    Hi
    I have good interest in Oracle, but I think that I am not being able to give good shape to my career wrt Oracle.
    I have done Oracle 9i OCA certification.
    I need to know which trainings should I attend/go-for to enable me to do and extract good things from Oracle.
    Till now, I have gained knowledge and experience in PL/SQL. I have no experience, but do have knowledge of DBA stuff.
    I need to provide a list of desired Oracle trainings to my manager so that he can arrange for them.
    Also, which certifications are beneficial for me.
    The help provided will be highly appreciable.
    Thanks.

    What training do you think would help you to do your job better.
    What course would help satisfy the training requirement if you went for dba cop.

    Well, I am not aware any place better than OU training location in Delhi. If you want that place's contact details than you need to get in touch with OU sales people and they can be reached at these numbers,
    Local: 1800 425 8877 Intl: +91 80 4108 4700
    Trust me, you won't find anyone better than OU for Oracle db's training. And remove your contact emails from the reply, it can be a good treat for spammers.

  • Select from Oracle to MySQL returns only one row

    Environment:
    The Oracle Developer Days Virtual Box image, so that's 11gR2 EE on OEL
    MySQL 5.1.51-community
    mysql-connector-odbc-5.1.7-0.i386.rpm
    unixODBC 2.3.0
    I got the connection working, I can insert, update and delete records in the MySQL DB from Oracle (SQL Plus).
    But when I enter select * from "employees"@mysql I only get the first record returned.
    If I enter select * from "employees"@mysql order by "id" desc, I only get the last one...
    If I enter select count(*) from "employees"@mysql, I get the - correct - result of 3.
    So, how do I get the complete set of (all) records from a MySQL table in Oracle? Is there some kind of setting or is this intended behavior and do I have to create a PL/SQL loop and put the results into a collection or something like that?

    I've create a table like yours:
    create table gateway.employees(id int(10) auto_increment,
    first_name varchar(30),
    last_name varchar(100),
    personal_code varchar(20),
    birthday date,
    salary decimal(10,2),
    is_active int(1),
    PRIMARY KEY (id));
    insert into gateway.employees (first_name,last_name) values ('Name 1', 'Name 1');
    insert into gateway.employees (first_name,last_name) values ('Name 2', 'Name 2');
    insert into gateway.employees (first_name,last_name) values ('Name 3', 'Name 3');
    insert into gateway.employees (first_name,last_name) values ('Name 4', 'Name 4');
    insert into gateway.employees (first_name,last_name) values ('Name 5', 'Name 5');
    select * from gateway.employees;
    and tested it using DataDirect and MySQL ODBC.
    The DataDirect shows all 5 lines whereas MySQL 5.1.0.7 ODBC shows only 1 row.
    (isql isn't using extended fetching like DG4ODBC does).

    Here the result (fetching ID column):
    MySQl ODBC;
    SQL> select "id" from "employees"@MYSQL_EMGTW_1121_DB;
    id
    1
    DD ODBC V6:
    SQL> select "id" from "employees"@DD60_MYSQL_EMGTW_1121_DB;
    id
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    Edited by: kgronau on Nov 4, 2010 4:33 PM
    The 32bit version of MySQL ODBC (5.1.5 - no 5.1.7 release yet installed) works also:
    SQL> select "id" from "employees"@MYSQL_32;
    id
    1
    2
    3
    4
    5
    => so it is an ODBC issue

  • Beware of Oracle training offer from Oraknowledge

    If you get an email from a certain Ed Haskins of Oraknowledge.com about specially priced Oracle CD ROM training, do not make the mistake of purchasing these CDs.
    My credit card was charged on 2 Sept. I received an email to say that my order will be received within 7-10 days. One month later nothing came so I emailed to ask. No response. I sent an email a week later as a follow-up. No response. I sent an email again yesterday to Miranda and EdHaskins as well as their sales email addresses. Still no response. Interestingly Edhaskins mailbox bounced to say that his quota is over the limit (probably from the many unhappy customers who have not received their orders).
    So before you part with your hard earn cash, think whether it's worth the risk with a company that has a blatant lack of customer service and an arrogant attitude. There are more unhappy customers at this site:http://www.examnotes.net/article1022425.html.

    well you know what they say about special offers you receive in spam: if it looks too good to be true it probably is.
    I have been receiving spam from OraKnowledge long enough to see the mailings cycle through the list of templates. About once a year they press up a load of CD-ROMs for a client who doesn't want them, so OraKnowledge has to flog them cheap. Doesn't seem like a very sound business model to me.
    Cheers, APC
