Oracle UCM - Working with forms

I have a question about working with fillable forms in Oracle UCM. I have a requirement to display a fillable form on a website and have the fields that the user completes in that form stored in Oracle UCM some how. I have played with the forms editor and I have made a form. I see that I can map results into content server metadata fields.
Is there a way to use this utility to create a file which is in turn checked into content server when the form is submitted. Is there a better way to do what I am trying to accomplish.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Data Bitz

Heya DB
Check out HCSF forms.
on submit, they create HCSP pages which are checked in to UCM as managed content.

  • Does ORACLE functions work with Oracle Database 10G

    Hi,
    I am wondering if ORACLE functions work with Oracle Database 10G or is it mandatory to use OCI functions?
    Thanks in advance!

    I was able to run a simple query with ora_* functions using 10g on Windows.
    The Oracle OCI calls used by PHP's ora extension still exist in the Oracle 10g libraries
    But I cannot recommend this obsolete extension.

  • Can Oracle APEX work with other databases?

    Can Oracle APEX work with other databases like Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase... etc.?

    Though, the Generic Connectivity does not cost extra.
    It doesn't have all the features of Transparent Gateway, but if you can access the foreign database with an ODBC driver,
    it's an easy way to integrate multiple databases.

    Since Apex lives in an Oracle database, it inherits all of the functionality of Oracle.
    There's not much it can't do.

  • Does Oracle 10g  work with Windows 7?

    Hi All,
    I am using windows 7 ultimate 32 bit edition. does oracle 10g and forms & Reports 10g work with that? plz tell me.

    Are you asking whether it is certified (i.e. whether Oracle has tested it and verified that it works)? Or are you asking whether it is an unsupported configuration that happens to work (more or less)?
    Oracle hasn't certified any available version of Oracle on Windows 7. It is projecting that 11.2 will be certified on Windows 7. So it's not a supported configuration. Now, it's entirely possible that it could be installed and might work reasonably well. But I'd expect that a few things wouldn't work-- whether those are features you happen to be using, though, is a different question.

  • How to preserve a lot of work with forms?

    It is a document with pages of text and pages of forms. We usually have changes mainly in the text pages and the idea is to reuse the last created PDF (where the forms are already fine).
    We try to merge two PDF (just the new one with corrections for the main text with that one already finished)* but always the fields get lost! Or the navigation gets inactive!
    The temporal and cruel solution:
    1) Generate a new PDF for the whole document. (Loosing a lot of formatting already tuned in the last PDF for both parts)
    2) Go the forms section and copy-paste the original fields from the last PDF to the new one.*
    There is a procedure to mix two PDF with navigation text pages and pages with forms? *
    * We tried in two ways but is the same wrong result:
    a) Merging the PDF forms to the PDF text, or
    b) Merging the PDF text to the PDF forms
    ** As the problem is not manage forms with slight changes: the old trick of generate a new PDF for the reformed pages to instantly preserve the field is useless here.

    on this one...
    many things may be said, most of them irregular:
    1. Mixed documents with pages of text and forms are a trouble when a menu navigation is involved.
    [Replacing pages or big sections is a big problem. Navigation gets lost, fields also, etc.]
    2. The trick of working then separately is valid when navigation is not included. Otherwise a collusion is always present.
    3. Some pages never can be replaced. Content pages, for example.
    [Page numbers links get lost.]
    4. Other pages (chapters, for example) – as they are part of linked relation in the content page – cannot be replaced.
    [Link get lost.]
    5. Content page cannot be edited.
    [Some links get lost, other no.]
    6. Weird things are daily surprises as the examples showed above. Some part of that navigation menus will be lost past or will not  work.
    No way using Tomaxxi clever script. It demands a lot of time building up the fields.
    Again, is not a problem of replacing minor changes in forms. Is changin entire sections.
    The method to solve this points is always the same: make a new PDF and go to the section of forms and copy-paste the field based in an old PDF already fine: a demanding waste of times.
    [This old and nice PDF cannot be replaced, inserted or changed in the new PDF at least you will face the problems mentioned above.]

    Well, Forms and Reports are still core skills to have.
    Oracle JDeveloper and Oracle ADF are the core tool/framework used for our future business applications (Fusion) as well as being at the core of our tools like WebCenter, BPM, EM etc etc. So that might be a smart option of you want to do something new which will be a core Oracle skill. The book I wrote on this might be of use. Google for "Quick Start Guide to Fusion Development Oracle JDeveloper Oracle ADF".

  • Does Oracle OSFM work with standard MRP in R12.1?

    Hello All,

Yesterday i came to know that OSFM will not work with standard MRP. Please let me know if there is a way to make OSFM work with Standard MRP.
          We don't have ASCP and are not planning to implement it for this requirement.

    Hi,
    The static INIT() functions were added to the ORDIMAGE/AUDIO/VIDEO types
    in 8.1.7 to make it easier for applications to construct an ORDIMAGE/etc
    object. Given a simple table, eg:
    CREATE TABLE IMAGES ( ID INTEGER, IMAGE ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE );
    In 8.1.7 and later its simply a matter of the following to insert a new row:
    INSERT INTO IMAGES VALUES ( 42, ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE.INIT() );
    Where ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE.INIT() is simply a static function that returns an
    initialized ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE object. Prior to 8.1.7, it was necessary to
    use the standard database object type constructor syntax to initialize
    an ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE object. For example:
    INSERT INTO IMAGES VALUES (
    42,
    ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE(
    ORDSYS.ORDSOURCE( EMPTY_BLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 0 ),
    NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL ) );
    Below I've included some PL/SQL functions that you can use with 8.1.6 instead
    of having to use the full constructor.
    Hope this helps,
    Simon
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION ORDIMAGE_INIT RETURN ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN ORDSYS.ORDIMAGE(
    ORDSYS.ORDSOURCE( EMPTY_BLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 0 ),
    NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL );
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION ORDAUDIO_INIT RETURN ORDSYS.ORDAUDIO AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN ORDSYS.ORDAUDIO(
    NULL,
    ORDSYS.ORDSOURCE( EMPTY_BLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 0 ),
    NULL, NULL, EMPTY_CLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL );
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION ORDVIDEO_INIT RETURN ORDSYS.ORDVIDEO AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN ORDSYS.ORDVIDEO(
    NULL,
    ORDSYS.ORDSOURCE( EMPTY_BLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, 0 ),
    NULL, NULL, EMPTY_CLOB(), NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL, NULL,

  • Which oracle client works with both Oracle 11.2.0.2 and BizTalk 2006 R2

    Hi there
    My Oracle11.2.0.2 is installed on linux server. My Biztalk2006R2 is installed on Windows Server 2003 R2 x64. I have already installed BizTalk Adapter for Oracle on the Biztalk server and now require to install Oracle Client to make Biztalk able to retrieve data from Oracle11.2.0.2 using the oracle client.
    From the following link,
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa559822%28v=BTS.20%29.aspx
    I came to know that the only oracle clients compatible with Biztalk adapter for oracle are as below:
    1) Oracle client 8i
    2) oracle client 9i
    3) oracle client 10i
    Now I need to install an oracle client on biztalk server in order to make biztalk talk to oracle and retrieve data from it.
    Question1: which of the above clients should i install on biztalk server that is compatible with both Oracle11.2.0.2 as well as Biztalk server 2006 R2?
    Question2: How to install and configure this client to make it work correctly?
    Please help.. thanks.

    The Biztalk Adapter interface with Oracle software has information, requirements per referenced document that does not make sense.
    E.g. "10i" does not exist and the requirement "Oracle ODBC driver 9.2.0.5.4" means that only 9.2 Client can be used. (Mixing parts from one Database Client product version with another version is not allowed/supported/certified.)
    Btw, does that machine happen to have Itanium hardware? (probably no, since you stated x64)
    For Oracle's OS requirements, 2003 was certified with/from 9.2.0.3 (and likely also terminal patch set version 9.2.0.8). Not sure about Server 2003 R2, 32 or 64-bit. I'm pretty sure 10.2 was certified on 2003 R2, but the note likely refers to 10.1 versions (before it was known it would be labeled 10g, g for grid replacing the i ).
    This FAQ may have some more information: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/windows/faq-100614.html
    For Oracle client - server interoperability and certification, there's a support matrix on MOS. See doc id 207303.1.
    It seems 9.2 is supported on the wire to operate with 11.2 server, but Client with at least patch set 9.2.0.4 is required.
    So, I guess best bet is to find updated requirements.
    If you manage to get hold of 9.2.0.5, after verifying that 2003 R2 is ok, then it looks like the puzzle could be put together for a complete picture.
    For ease of install, take a look at the Instant Client. (However, there's no 9.2 IC, that type of client install came later)
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/features/instant-client/index-097480.html
    Edit;
    some corrections, specially about 9.2 version

  • Does CHAR data type work with Forms 11g

    We have an application in Forms 11g (32bit - version 11.1.2.0.0). DB is a Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production.
    When our Forms calls a stored procedure which has parameters defined using column name type (i.e. like p_customer_code customers.code%TYPE ) and if the column data type is CHAR we get a run time error when executing the package (ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error string).
    When we change the data type of the tables column to varchar2, it works??
    Problem is we have dozens of tables with CHAR data type columns and we can't do all the changes manually. For one thing, if they are part of a primary or unique key or even foreign key, we can't change the data type of the column without dropping the constraint.
    What is the solution to this pls??

    When our Forms calls a stored procedure which has parameters defined using column name type (i.e. like p_customer_code customers.code%TYPE ) and if the column data type is CHAR we get a run time error when executing the package (ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error string).this might also be related to compile settings, check your NLS settings (NLS_LANG, NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS) both times when you compile forms AND your stored procedures.
    As for the CHAR datatype: CHAR internally is treated like a blank padded varchar:
    http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:1542606219593
    Speaking of that it might be time to use varchar2 instead your char columns. You'd have to drop and recreate your constraints, but with the help of the data dictionary (+user_tables+, user_tab_cols, user_cons_columns, user_constraints) and dbms_metadata this shouldn't be that hard.
    Also you'd of course need to recompile all your forms after you are finished, but I guess you are aware of that ;)
    cheers

  • Does "onchange" not work with form submits?

    Hello,
    I have a simple select menu that I want to behave such that if the user clicks on any menu item, the form automatically submits. So here is the snippet of code:
    <h:selectOneMenu id="allUserResidentialFeatures"
    value="#{residentialFeaturesDTO.map.allUserResidentialFeatures}"
    onchange="document.forms['myForm'].submit()">
    <f:selectItems
    value="#{utilitiesDelegate.referenceHandlesFromDTOsMap1}"/>
    </h:selectOneMenu>
    What happens is that if you click on the submit BUTTON, everything works fine: validation and the backing bean action is called, and navigation occurs.
    BUT if you click on the MENU above, the form does something I cannot understand: the fields are validated (so it is going to the back end server), but then the form is redisplayed once again - and the backing bean action is NOT called.
    Obviously the JSF lifecycle here is being short-circuited - even though I did not put "immediate='true'". But why? Isn't pressing the "submit" button and calling the "submit()" function exactly the same (ignoring the onsubmit event handler difference)?
    very confused.. a day has passed on this .. if you can help, thanks.

    More information on this problem that I have yet to solve: I implemented a PhaseListener to trace the application during the two submits. There is a difference that I cannot explain:
    If the form is submitted using the regular submit button (an h:commandbutton), the application transitions thru all phases normally, and during the INVOKE_ACTION phase, the beforePhase and afterPhase events sandwich the actual invocation to the backingbean action. In other words, I do see the call to the backing bean's action method.
    But if the form is submitted using the automatic "onchange" submit() from the select menu, the phases are progressed normally as before BUT the beforePhase and afterPhase events occur with NOTHING between them: the action is not invoked.
    Any idea why???

  • SQL INSERT / SQL UPDATE don't work with form page, don't affect table

    The subject line says it all. No matter what I try, my updates on the form don't appear on the report page, which accesses the table. When I look at the table using SQL WORKSHOP, the changes aren't made there either. What am I missing? I have another report page and form page with a different table in the same application and updates in that table work fine. I coded them both the same. What should I be looking at?
    Steve "the n00b" in Raleigh NC

    Steve,
    How you have created the FORM page? Using FORM WIZARD? Or You have created blank page and after that you have manually created all the form items?
    If you have used WIZARD to create form page, then you can see a page process with Automatic Row Processing (DML) type. Here you need can set DML (Insert/Update/Delete) you wish to use on this form. APEX will take care of the rest.
    If there is no such process in your page, then you need to create one. You may have one process to do both (Insert and Update) and you can have two sepate processes. I prefer having two seperate page processes (after submit), one for Insert and one for Update.
    Now you can make the Insert process conditional so that it only execute when you click button - Create (Add or any similar button you have ) Also make the Update process conditional so that it only execute when you click button - Save (Update or any similar button you have )
    Just a quick note - From the above trigger, I can guess you are allowing users to enter Primary Key manually? In my opinion, Primary key should be always system generated using SEQUENCE. Users can only enter BUSINESS KEY (if any) and we should not use Business key as Primary Key.
    Good Luck :-)
