Oracle update 10.2.0.2. up to 10.2.0.4 on microsoft windows 2003 R2 64 bit

Hi all
Soon I must perform an upgrade of Oracle 10.2.0.2. up to 10.2.0.4 on microsoft windows 2003 R2 64 bit. Befor this I only installed single oracla servers.
This cluster server has also the Oracl failsafe monitor installed.
What I see is that the Oracle softeware is installed on each node on a local volume (drive E:)
Is there some doc explaining what to do? or
1 - must I run the universal installar on every node or just once
2 - how to use the opatch apply, must this be done on every node? or just once
Please has some one some hints

  • Oracle 9i 32 bit ON Windows 2003 server 32 bit

    Hi all
I have oracle 9i 32 bit istalled on HP server with windows 2003 server 32 bit, 8GB ram.
I am trying to increase oracle memory size (SGA + PGA),
but when I exceed 2GB for (SGA + PGA) it gives me error (ORA-27102 : out of memory)
Is it because the windows 32bit ?
    How to manage this issue?

The maximum amount of memory that can be allocated on a Windows Server 2003 is 4 Gb.
If you have Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, it supports 32 GB of physical RAM and Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition supports 64 Gb by means of the Physical Address Extensions (PAE) feature.
You should declare the 3 Gb switch that is in the Boot.ini file with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 so it addresses more than 2Gb. So verify which windows 2003 server edition are you currently using.

  • Trex can't be updated to higher levels on windows 2003 server 64 bit

    Hi gurus,
We have a portal system (EP 7.0 SP18) and a Trex 7.0 server which are
working on windows 2003 server 64 bit on the same server.
After upgrading our portal system from sp15 to sp18, we can not see
indexes on Index Administration screen. When we tried to create the
indexes from the beginning, we faced the message "An index with the samename already exists."
We thought that the level of the Trex server(25) is low which may cause
this problem and decided to update the Trex server to level 46. We
    downloaded "TREX70_46-20001842.SAR TREX 7.0 REV 46" from
service.sap.com and tried to update Trex server according to
    NW70_SPSTACK_GUIDE_SPS18.pdf.During the installation a warning
message "You started an installation of sofware for platform
i386, but SAPinst is running on platform AMD64" was given. When we
continued the installation, an error message
was shown in a message box."Running msiexec.exe failed with return code
1603:Fatal error during installation. Commandline was
    msiexec.exe/norestart/L sapmmcx86u.log/i sapmmcx86u.msi/qn" I searched
the sapmmcx86u.log and the error message says that this installation
    package is not for windows
    2003 server 64 bit.
"This installation does not support 64 Bit Windows Operating systems.
Please use the corresponding 64 Bit installation package.
Action ended 8:26:08: LaunchConditions. Return value 3.
Action ended 8:26:08: INSTALL. Return value 3.
MSI (s) (10:84) [08:26:08:578]: Product: SAP MMC SnapIn -- Installation
    failed."
We searched in OSS notes and found the note "Note 1021003 - TREX 7.00 -
Update Windows 2003 64-Bit installed from DVD"
.We did the things in the note but unfortunately nothing changed.
We tried the install revision 45,44 etc but we got the same warning and
    error messages.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Tolga,
    You face with this error, because of Trex installation package is trying to install native i386 redistributables (vcredist_x86.msi) during the process. In order to patch Trex system on x64 architecture, follow the instructions, below;
    1) Start sapinst, under your <TREX_PATCH> path
    2) Ignore AMD64 warning popup
    3) When popup appears on the "1603:Fatal error during installation." error, change temp folders on both environment variables, on my computer
    4) Download and execute "vcredist_x64.exe" then run installer
    5) After respective installation click on "Retry" button on error popup
At the end of this operation, your Trex patch will be succeeded. Please do not forget to undo your temp directory settings, on your Trex host. I hope that it is clarify your question.

  • Oracle Database XE with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)

I would like to find out if Oracle Database XE works with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)?
If not, is there any other Oracle Open Source Database version can work with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (32-bit)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am installing W2k8 R2 Domain Controller with Oracle Express 10g.
This is the tip to make it work.
Go to the installer OracleXE.exe -> Right click + Select Properties + Compatibility + Run this program in Compatibility Mode fot + Windows 2003 Sp1
Then Select Run this Program as administrator.
After this run the OracleXe.exe and it will install properly.
Remember to double check that everything works fine.

  • Oracle 10g install on Windows 2003 Server 32-bit

As far as I can tell there doesn't appear to be an Oracle10g download for 10.2.0.4 for Windows 2003 Server. It looks like you have to download 10.2.0.1 for Windows then apply the patch to bring it up to 10.2.0.4. Am I seeing this correctly or am I missing something?
    Thanks!

    >
Indeed you are; your eyes are definitely not lying to you. 10.2.0.4 is a patchset which can only be applied to an already existing Oracle Home.
You might want to try and understand a little bit more about what the 10.2.0.4 means by accessing the links below.

  • Firefox 3.5 and Apex 3.2 on Windows 2003 Server 32-Bit using Oracle 9.2.0.8

I can't seem to use firefox at all. IE works like a champ, but I get nothing from firefox, just the web page with an iconless login which doesn't do anything when I try to log in.

Interesting. I've been using APEX 3.2 with Firefox 3.5 for several months now without any issues and I know several other developers doing the same. Can you test it from another client machine to see if it's something with the PC or the install of Firefox? You might also try [a href="http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable"]Firefox 3.5 Portable[a], as it will basically give you a clean, fresh install of 3.5 without uninstalling your current 3.5. Just make sure you close all instances of Firefox before you start up the portable one.
On a totally unrelated note, just wanted to make sure you know the 9.2 is no longer a supported database (unless you pay for extended support) and the upcoming 4.0 release of APEX will not work with 9.2 at all.

  • 10g RAC on Oracle VM/Windows 2003 server

Is there any documentation/thread/blog which describes installation of 10g clusterware on Windows 2003 VM on Oracle VM 2.1.2 using just direct attached storage? I created 2 Windows 2003 VMs. For OCR and Voting disks, I created shared virtual disks. These disks are visible from both VMs. When I try to install clusterware, both VMs blue screen about 50% into install. The error in CRS logs points to OCR disks not being in correct format. I have tested same process with VMWare server and it works fine. Do I need to do something different for Oracle VM?
BTW this is not my first time installing RAC on Windows 2003. I have done more installations than I care to remember but always on physical servers. I followed the same process as I do for physical servers but it seems that Oracle VM does not like the shared virtual disks.
    Thanks...

Check out my articles at http://dbasupport.com on 10g R2 RAC Clusterware setup. I was able to do that on my vmware BUT I hope to have the very irritating ASM scenario done before my 4th Article.
    Check it out.

  • Which version of Oracle database is certified on  Windows 2008 R2 ( 64-bit)

    We have a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) server.
I wanted to know which Oracle database version is 100% certified on the above OS.

    Hi Sirini;
    10.2.0.5 is supported - see MOS Doc 1061272.1 (Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Client (10.2.0.5) with Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)Correct;
11gR2 is also supported - see MOS Doc 867040.1 (Statement of Direction: Oracle Database 11g Release 2 – Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2)There is a setup on this link:
    Oracle Database 11g Release 2
    (11.2.0.1.0)
Microsoft Windows (x64) File 1, File 2 (2GB) See All
I am little bit confused for this, as you mention note and also certification matrix says 11gr2 certfied with Win2008-64 bit. But there is no specific setup like win2008-64 bit, there is only Microsoft Windows (x64) setup
By the way for 10gR2 on win 2008 64 bit platform there are 2 setups. Those are:
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) for Microsoft Windows Vista x64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64)
So i had issue for my client and oracle worker support me to use 10.2.0.4 for my issue, not second setup. So for 11gR2 could be work for Microsoft Windows (x64) but i am not sure %100 coz never tried before.
i appreciate, If someone share their experience to make installation 11gR2 on win2008-64 bit wiht Microsoft Windows (x64) setup
All those upper setups can be found at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
I do not believe 11gR1 is currently certified with Win 2008 R2.Please check below link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 Standard Edition, Standard Edition One, and Enterprise Edition

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64 (1.9 GB) | See All

  • Update from windows 7 ultimate ( 64-bit) hungs after setting up 9%

I tried windows 10 to install clean on a Pc and also as VM. It works fine
Now I tried to update a company PC with a lot af applications. The OS is windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
I seems to go very fine, but after restarts and starting with setting up, the first time I hungs after 13% and I did a roll back. The rollback was functioning execelent. I checked the space on the hard disk, which was 11,5 gigabite. The update says that it
needs only 6 Gb. I tried to update again and it hungs again, now by setting up at 9%. Nothing is showing up with action on the hard drive, and it is not possible to see what the setting up is doing, cq what is its problem.
Knows someone what to do and what maybe cause the update/setting up problem?

Thanks Roger. I had to let it be for some days because of other work
Today I tried again, becouase I got an update from microsoft ( automatic ) on the windows7 PC.
The problem seems to be the raid. After the first restart ( after 4-9% of configuration) one of the raid drives isn'r anymore in the raid and the computer cannot boot. After repair of the reboot and shut down and startup again the PC, The Wndows 10 installation
software repairs automatic the ols windows 7.
I looked in the setupact.log file and here is the result:

  • Install Oracle 10g on Windows 2003 Server cluster (MSCS)

    Hi all
How do I install Oracle 10g on Windows 2000 cluster (MSCS installed)?
I have a 2-nodes Microsoft windows 2003 server cluster and I want to install Oracle 10g,
    Do I folloow this order:
    1. Install the software on both without the database
    2. Create the database from the first node
in this case, The second node can see the database as it is available?,
and what about the IP adresses?
If you can point me to some documentation, or help in any way, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help.

Oracle Fail Safe comprises multiple components: Oracle Fail Safe Manager, Oracle Services for MSCS, and server components specific to Oracle Fail Safe.

So I don't know how you can achieve this without Fail Safe.
There might be other link which I cannot find right now.

  • Oracle Forms 6i(32-bit)  = Oracle database 10g R2 Windows 2008 R2 64-bit)

    We have Oracle database 10g R2 installed on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 (64-bit) (SERVER1)
We have Oracle Forms 6i (patch 4a) installed on a Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32-bit) (SERVER2)
I am not able to connect from SERVER2 to SERVER1, either through SQLPLUS or FORMS BUILDER.
    Its giving some DLL error.
    Is it because forms 6i (32-bit) cannot connect to a 64-bit database on a 64-bit OS ?

There might be problems with 8i clients (like forms 6i) if the database uses AL32UTF8 characterset indeed (if you need unicode and you need to run forms 6i use UTF8 instead) but this should not be related to the platform of the database.
The platform of the database server really should not matter as the forms runtime talks via SQL*Net with the database server and in the end it does not matter if the database runs on linux, windows whatsoever or unix 32 or 64 bit for the client. The only problem you'll encounter is that SQL*Net also changes with versions and thus "older" clients might not be able to communicate with "newer" servers and vice versa.
