Version 6 upgrade fails with -1603 error
I just got a Shuffle. I had iTunes 5.xx installed. Message suggested I should upgrade to 6, so I downloaded the installer. Installation of 6 fails with -1603 error.
Tried uninstalling iTunes as a remedy, but iTunes doesn't appear in Windows Uninstall list, nor is there any uninstall info in iTunes help, nor here online. That is not nice!hi Snorkeler!
just checking. is the 1603 occurring "standalone" or is it showing up at the end of a chain of error messages?
(if it's a standalone, we attack it head on. but if it's at the end of a chain, we treat the first error in the chain.)

I was offerered ios5 on my perfectly working iPAD yesterday - it failed and left the iPAD unusable
Failure occurs during the restoring: iPAD firmware - error is 1 unknown (log below), I'm using iTunes on Windows 7 and have tried iTunes on Vista - don't have a Mac to try.
Tried all suggestions on Apple support pages and completely different PC, sometimes get some USB errors but log below is most common issue.
Any suggestions - iPAD is now useless as stuck in recovery mode.

2011-10-15 23:50:35.587 [1732:1cc0]: iTunes: Restore error 20000Just to conclude, and give hope for any still suffering, I succesfully upgraded my iPAD to ios5 yesterday evening.
I did have a conversation with Apple support a couple of days agao, in line with many others I was given various reasons why things oustide the Apple environment might be the root cause such as
- ports blocked on the network I was using (although when I asked which ones they weren't certain - "80 and 442 we think" was the response
- a fault on the iPAD
- slow network connection
The more interesting part of teh conversation was Apple was that the firmware update part of the install actually involves quite a lot of interaction with apple servers. My conclusion would be that the well documented performance problems in the early days after ios5 release were the root cause of my problem - reference to network ports. iPAD faults were just a smokescreen.
My key learning - don't upgrade soon after a major release, I already knew this but when offered an update I didn't go back and check precisley when it had been released so I should have paid more attention :-) -
Backup failed with a non-descript error and 4.5 upgrade fails with fatal error
couldn't backup, somewhere in the middle of profiles the backup bombed each time, couldn't upgrade from 4.3. to 4.5 and browser application stopped working complaining about no service or something. it briefly worked after that, and than stopped again, so that all browser based apps just give a white screen that says blackberry.
took it to the verizon store, they couldn't figure it out either and they couldn't get through to their tech support.
did a complete wipe of it, redownloaded 4.6 desktop software, and it still won't upgrade from 4.3 (which is what reappeared after the complete wipe). interestingly a bunch of my apps all reappeared so it must have backed up/synched my applications.
lost all my contacts, but at least it is working again. not sure that I want it anymore if it won't upgrade from the O/S anyway.
i know i can't get any help because it doesn't give any useful error messages, but I just want to complain about this brand new 8330. the second in a month. the first had a microphone problem that required a new device on day 2.yes , i am using symantec netbackup,
but every thing is fine from their side as well(settings).
i have reinstalled the client as well.
it runs for 1 hr and then it throws error.
yesterday i scheduled two backup at two different time(at the interval of 1 hr) but they both failed (struck) at the exact same time(even seconds were same).
So what do you say?? -
WRK54G firmware upgrade fails: file pattern error.
When I attempt to upgrade the firmware in my WRK54G router, the upgrade fails with this error message:
Upgrade action is not finish!!
Upgrade file pattern error.
The linksys download page says the file size is 1.10 MB.
The size of the file I downloaded (WRK54Gv2_1_00_1) is also 1.10 MB (1,160,036 bytes). So it appears the file was downloaded successfully.
I had no problem upgrading the firmware to version 1.1.
Please advise.
Thank youWhat is the hardware version of your router? Is it version 1, version 1.1 or version 2? Where did you download the firmware of your router? Is it from the US website.
On the US website you have 3 wrk54g, one is version 1, version 1.1 and v2.

Hi everyone,
We are trying to create silent(unattended) install package to install Oracle database 11g express edition 11.2.0 silently on our machines. We modified the provided .iss file as per the requirement and tried to install with below command,
setup.exe /verbose /s /f1"c:\DISK1\response\oracleXE-install.iss" /f2"c:\DISK1\oracle_log.txt" /v" /l*v "c:\DISK1\oracle_msi_log.txt""
Installation is failing with below error from the log file,
1: OracleXE-Server-Install-Message: Port 8081 is in use. Specify a different port number.
Installshield 11:22:22: Installation aborts, ready to shut down.
Port 8081 is being used by mcAfee in our organization. We tried passing a different port number for Http in the response file(.iss), but it is failing with same reason. We have searched foruns and found that we need to stop the port8081 during the oracle XE installation and can start it later once the installation is completed. But As port 8081 is being used by McAfee in our organization, we could not stop it even during oracle XE installation as it creates security issues.
I am attaching the MSI log(failure log) and modified .iss(modfied .iss file to .iss.txt to be able to attach) files. Please look into it and suggest how can we achieve silent installation in this case.Pl see previous discussions about this topic - seems to be a limitation of the silent install process

RAC Install fails with "OCR upgrade failed with (-1073741819) on 10.2.0
I am trying to install RAC 10.2.0 with two Server 2003 R2 nodes connected to a fiber channel SAN. I have set up the shared storage, created the extended partitions, and setup the unformatted no drive letter volumes. Both servers see the unformatted volumes (and no others do). The preinstallation checks work fine and the installations works fine until the first configuration assistant runs. That would be the "Oracle Clusterware Configuration Assistant". It tries to run crssetup.config.bat and fails on step 3 (configuring OCR Repository) with
ocr upgrade failed with (-1073741819)
If I uninstall clusterware and try again it will not show the OCR and Voting disks as available disks until I delete the volumes and partitions and recreate them. I have run the precheck batch files and they show everything as good as well. When I define the OCR and Voting drives in the clusterware setup I do not select format or assign drive letter. Every time I try to do the install I get the exact same error.
Is there anything I am missing or some trick or patch I may not have done?Take a look at this notes!!

Make failed with ld error... [SOLVED]
hello!
I try to upgrade kchmviewer to version 1.3, but make failed with ld error:
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXext

But libXext.so is here!
$ locate Xext

/usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.a

/usr/X11R6/include/X11/extensions/panoramiXext.h
/usr/X11R6/include/X11/extensions/Xext.h
$ cat /etc/ld.so.conf
# /etc/ld.so.conf

/opt/xfce4/lib
#/usr/lib/oracle/10.1.0.2/client/lib

So I'm alittle confused... Why ld can't find it?Thanks a lot guys!
You helps me to find some way! I danced a newby jig around Makefile and now kchmviewer updated.

At DI R3trans fails with this error code ORA-12545, but CI runs
Hello Gurus,
We have our BW System on two instances with a separated oracle database server.
Last week the system was unreachable and we must restarted it hard.
After that, the Listener could started and runs. The DB could started, mounted and opened successfully.
Now we have a special problem.
The central instance can connect at startup to the database. But the dialog instance not.
The DI get the following error:
|> R3trans -x
This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 701 - 12.06.09 - 15:20:00).
2EETW169 no connect possible: "DBMS = ORACLE --- dbs_ora_tnsname = 'BW2'"
R3trans finished (0012).
The trans.log entry are:
4 ETW000 [dbsloci. ,00000] *** ERROR => CONNECT failed with sql error '12541' 17 0.187511

A telnet connection test to port 1527 are also unsuccessful.
But sporadicly the telnet or R3trans connection are successful, but the second check are unsuccessful.
We have checked the telnet connection to another oracle database server (ERP) at port 1527 and it works.
The CI have some entry's in ST22 with DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR --> ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE.
Are someone known something about this issue?
regards
Chris@ Sunny Pahuja:
We checked sapmnt.
Sapmnt is common on CI and DI. It was never mounted on DB. But DB runs perfectly until this issue.
@ Ankit Gupta
We checked the configuration of listener.
It is the same like the listener configuration of our ERP system with CI, DI and DB on separate Servers, too.
@ Rajesh Narkhede

Installer MSI fails with no error or message of any kind. Tested compatability with the windows compatability check and it comes back as not compatible. What now?
Hans,
It is a known problem on Windows 98, Windows and Windows 2000 if you are using Intel Pentium 4 processor with Sun JRE and Symantec JIT. I had the same problem with Windows 98. Oracle has a patch. Please see Note:131299.1 on metalink for details. -
