Oracle version for AIX 5.3 ?

I just download the latest Oracle 10g Trial version for AIX 5L from the Web. But as I go through installation, while running "runInstaller", it gave me message:
"Checking operating system version: must be 5200
Failed <<<<"
Of course since I have AIX 5.3. The requirement of Oracle 10g says the OS should be "AIX 5L version 5.2, Main level 1 or higher". With AIX 5.3, is there a Oracle version?
thanks,

Thank you, it worked!
However it seems to me a more workaround. Is there a source to say Oracle 10g for AIX 5.3 is officially supported (or aka certified for the platform)? If a Oracle 10g is purchased and problem develops on AIX 5.3, I don't want to get a saying it is not yet certified.
Thanks,

  • Please make Oracle 8i for AIX available for download

We need Oracle 8i for AIX...specifically Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 for AIX 4.3.3.
We were pointed to technet.oracle.com by our Oracle representative. We found the following available:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7.0.1) for Linux (Intel), with OPS
         Oracle8i Enterprise/Standard Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows 2000/NT
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Compaq Tru64 UNIX
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for HP 9000 Series HP-UX
    But nothing for AIX.
We have an urgent requirement to get this up and running for our Dev't work and it would be a great help if we can download it as opposed to waiting 10 days for the CD to be burnt and shipped.
    Thanks...Larry

is there any link which i can use to show that oracle 8i is not suppported for any version of AIX ?Go to the "Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products" document, page 4. Found at http://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support-policy.html
That document provides 'expiry date' for all most Oracle tech product.

This is pretty old. From the certify matrix, you can see the last available versions this platform supported were 9.0.1 and 8.1.7, just for the Intel SCO Open UNIX 8 with LKP. SCO 5.0 last time I used it was with an Oracle7.3 release. In case you don't have software it'll be hard to find, unless you address this to your Oracle Representative.
Are you absolutely required to run on this version? Otherwise, you could try new software and new oracle releases, unless you want to run unsupported.

  • Which oracle client for aix 6 xi31 sp3?

I need oracle client 10.2 for a installation of xi31 sp3 on aix 6 with an oracle 11g db in order for ldap to work properly.
My apologies for my lack of DB (oracle) experience,  however, can someone please tell me which file I need for this and the associated link to download it?

    Hi,
Please explain in more details what do you mean "which files"?
If you mean getting the physical files, then :
To download BOE XI 3.1 with SP3, you need to log onto the SAP Support Portal (aka: Service Market Place) - http://service.sap.com/
The Oracle D/B and the Oracle client will need to come from Oracle website. You will need to check with Oracle to see how you can get your hands on the files.
As for AIX 6.1, I assumed that should already been setup since you quoted that in your last note.

  • Which Oracle version for analytic sql?

Thanks!Analytic functions (that is, functions using the OVER keyword, such as
RANK () OVER (ORDER BY hiredate)) were introduced in Oracle 8.1
(It's no coincidence that in-line views were introduced around the same time, since so many uses of anaytic functions require sub-queries.
In-line views were first documented in Oracle 8.1, but they worked in Oracle 8.0.)

  • Oracle 8i for AIX

I have the database files for the above. These are not backup files, but the files from a storage device that was connected to a server running AIX. The server crashed completely and no recent backups are available.
Can i read the database files if i connect the storage device to a Windows server running Oracle 10?
If not, what is the best and quickest way to access the data on the storage device?

I would just add, if it can help, that you do require neither the same version nor the same bitmode of the OS to recover your datafiles. That is, if you crashed your 8i aix4 64bit server, you can restore it on aix 5L in 32bit mode without problem. But you need to install the Oracle binaries on your aix server, ex. 8.1.7.4.
As Neil said, there is no way to restore data on your windows box.

  • What Oracle version for XML Parser for java

Is the XML Parser for Java only available for use with
Oracle 8i? Is it possible to use with Oracle 8.05
    null

The XML Parser for Java can be used with any of the supported
version JavaVMs. The only difference with 8i is that you can
load it into the database and use JServer which is an internal
VM. For 8.0.5 you simple run it externally and connect through
    JDBC.

  • Oracle Version for Advanced Replication

    Hi all,
When, Advanced Replication first appeared in Oracle Database?
Was it in version: 7, 8i or 9i?????
I' d like to do the same question for materialized view.
I know that in previous releases materialized view was snapshot. So, in wich version of Oracle snapshot was introduced?
    I hope somebody help me...

Do not use none of them. Conflict resolution will kill you. This is only will works if one side working on one set of tables while other working on other sets of tables. If you do not want to have such hadace use active standby database (11g) to run reports locally, but all changes must happen on primary side.

  • Oracle Version for Windows 7 ??

    Hi,
I had 10g on Vista 64bit prior but now since I have switched to Windows 7,sadly 10g doesn't work for me anymore :( I searched around and found that Oracle 10g supports Windows NT kernel version 4.0,5.0,5.1 means Xp and Vista and designed for that and windows 7 based on NT 6.1 so no support for it by 10g.
So I wanted to know which version should I use of Oracle 11g?? I will be giving my certification exam soon so wanted to practice,so kindly help me out :)

11.2 will be the first version of Oracle to be certified on Windows 7. 11.2 for Windows, last I checked, is scheduled to be released some time in Q1 of 2010.
I have installed 11.1 on Windows 7 laptops that seem to be working. It's not certified, and there may well be issues with certain components, but I haven't personally encountered any issues.

  • WebLogic 6.1 Oracle Driver for AIX size

Can someone tell me the correct file size for the WebLogic 6.1 AIX driver
    for Oracle - oci816_8/libweblogicoci37.so ?
I ask because our oci816_8 driver fails to load when making a connection
pool, giving an UnsatisfiedLinkError, although all the paths are correct,
but if I replace it with the oci817_8 driver, the oci817_8 driver loads OK,
but gives (as expected) a DBMS driver exception. This suggests our oci816_8
driver may be corrupt. The huge difference in the file sizes reinforces that
    idea:
The file size on disk of our oci816_8 driver, which fails to load, is 197
    kb.
The file size on disk of out oci817_8 driver, which loads OK, is 2.76 MB

Thanks to Kesava for the information we wanted. Looks like the driver is
probably OK. However, no joy getting it to load. We will now try the Oracle
drivers instead of the WebLogic drivers.

  • Recommended Oracle version for SAP 4.7 and for BW 3.5

    Hi,
where I can find the SAP's recommended version of Oracle for SAP ERP 4.7 and BW 3.5?
    Thanks
    Message was edited by:
            giovanni maria maccioni

    Hi,
    Recommended would be 10.2.0.2
Oracle has ended the customer care support for 9.2 in July 2007:
Note 925871 - Discontinuation of 'Customer Care Support' for Oracle 9.2
At the same time, SAP customers have a "free" year of  Extended Support for Version 9.2.
9.2.0.8 is the latest patch set provided for 9.2. (see note 1021844)
I think that, if you are planning to perform a new installation, it would be better to do it in 10.2
