Oracle version on solaris 10

Hi,
Which oracle version we can install on solaris 10, execpt oracle 10g?
Thanks.
Best Regards.

Hi,
Solaris 10 on which platform (runs on SPARC,x86,x86-64)? Anyway, the answer is simple: On SPARC runs
Oracle Database 9iR2 (with 9.2.0.6 Patchset) for Sun Solaris SPARC32
Oracle Database 9iR2 (with 9.2.0.6 Patchset) for Sun Solaris SPARC64
Oracle Database 10gR1 (with 10.1.0.3 Patchset) for Sun Solaris SPARC64
10gR2 Database for Sun Solaris SPARC64
and on x86 runs only 10gR1 and higher.
Regards
Werner

  • Installing Oracle 8i in Solaris Intel Version With Pentium 4

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to Install Oracle 8i under Solaris 8 Intel version with Pentium 4 processor fixed. But iam'nt able to continue after I click "Install" button, the runInstaller exited badly with no response.I was told that even Installing Oracle under Windows P4 is facing the same problem, but on searching I got solution by renaming a DDL file before starting installation. Is there any similar method to do for installing it under p4 processor on solaris intel 8 version.

    Hi
I know that we can install Oracle 8i on Solaris 8.
Can we install oracle 8i on Solaris 10 ?
What is the last solaris version that supports installation of Oracle 8i?
    Thanx

Metalink Certification Matrix shows that Solaris 9 was the last one.

  • Slow performance of Java program with Oracle db on Solaris

    Hi all,
I'm developing a Java program to read a large no. of records (arnd 40,000) from a file and populate into an Oracle database on a Solaris system. I'm using a thin JDBC driver. The problem is that the program runs very slow on Solaris.
When I run the Java program on a Windows machine (and connect to the Solaris machine) the program runs quickly. However when I run the program on the Solaris machine itself, it runs around 20 times slower. I need the program to run faster in the Solaris environment. Can anyone help?
The SPARC system used is SunOS 5.8, 4GB memory, 2*750MHz processors
    Thanks a lot

The set of RDBMS DVD's can be downloaded from SAP Marketplace. Oracle 9.2 Installation zip file which contains Disk1 Disk2 and Disk3.
Which Version of Solaris are you running?
Is it 64 or 32 Bit?

  • Oracle Rac on Solaris Containers

We are planning to implement Oracle 11G RAC on Solaris 10 using non-global zone. RAC is now officially certified on Solaris containers.
But we are still investigating whether zone Cluster (Using Solaris Cluster) is the prerequisite to have Oracle RAC on Solaris non-global zone.
This oracle document *(Supported Virtualization and Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Database and RAC Product Releases [ID 1173831.1])* stated that:
_"*Oracle Solaris Containers are supported with Oracle RAC 10gR2 and 11gR1 (with Oracle Solaris Cluster on SPARC64). Solaris version 10 Update 7 or later (patches 141444-09, 143055-01, 142900-06, 143137-04 "md patch") with Oracle Solaris Cluster 3.3 and 3.2u2 patched to 126106-39 or later."*_
Does it mean that Oracle RAC is supported on Solaris Container only with Solaris Cluster?
In other word does Oracle RAC is supported on Solaris Non-Global zones without using Solaris Cluster?

It was my understanding too. Do you have any source document where it is specifically noted that solaris cluster(Zone Cluster) is needed for RAC?
Please check this document www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/systems-hardware-architecture/deploying-rac-in-containers-168438.pdf, nowhere it is said that Solaris Cluster is needed.

I was told that this is the version only for Sun Sparc Solaris. There is no 8i version for Solaris 8 on intel platform.

I didn't see anything on the Sun site, but the disk arrived with my Solaris media. I have installed it on one machine (you need to create the "oracle" user id, the "dba" group, and you must set the tunable parameters for shared memory to install the software and example database.)
I tried to install a second machine and the Oracle installer terminates half way through without errors. I'm still working that issue.

  • Oracle 9i on Solaris

I have Oracle 9.2.0.1 client on Solaris. I need to update the client to 9.2.0.7 per 3rd party program requirements. I have downloaded patch 9.2.0.7 for Solaris from metalink - p4163445_92070_SOLARIS64.zip. but it tries to install the second Oracle home and it is labeled 10.1.0.4.
Is this a mistake or how I'm suppose to get the 9.2.0.7 version for Solaris?
    Thanks.
    Mj

I think you are installing the Oracle Installer in another home and not the patch for Oracle.
    See:
    Oracle9i Patch Set Notes
Release 2 (9.2.0.7) Patch Set 6 for Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-bit)
    https://updates.oracle.com/ARULink/SimpleSearch/process_form?search_type=prod&product=9481&product_disp=RDBMS+Server&product_any=Select+a+Product+or+Product+Family&product_none=&release=8092070&release_any=Select+a+Release&release_none=&patch_type=patchset&plat_lang=23P&display_type=&search_style=8&orderby=&direction=&old_type_list=&gobuttonpressed=&sortcolpressed=&tab_number=&email=aron.tunzi%40generali.ch&userid=ml-arontunzi&c_release_parent=product&c_product_child=release
    An abstract of the document:
2 Oracle Universal Installer Version Requirements
This patch set includes Oracle Universal Installer release 10.1.0.4. You must use this Oracle Universal Installer to install this patch set and not the Installer from the 9.2.0.x maintenance release media or Oracle home.
This is not a complete software distribution. You must install it in an existing Oracle9i release 2 (9.2.0.x.x) installation. Users applying this patch set must use Oracle Universal Installer release 10.1.0.4 (provided as part of this patch set) or later to ensure that their Oracle home can be patched in the future. Oracle Universal Installer release 10.1.0.4 is also installed when you install this patch set.
