Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder or Oracle Template Builder
HI - can anyone confirm if Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder is going to be the replacement for the Oracle Template Builder? I've been using the template builder quite successfully over the past couple of weeks, and I thought I would give the assembly builder a go, and my impression is that it is utter rubbish.
It doesn't have even half of the functionality of the old template builder, and if Oracle are going to use this as the only template deployment tool for Oracle VM it would be a huge dissapointment.

The Oracle Virtual Assembly Builder (OVAB) product is not a replacement for the Oracle Template Builder (OTB) tool. They both have different purposes.
OTB can be used to create a VM template with any arbitrary set of packages you want installed along with the linux distribution. But, once you create a VM instance from that template, you have to manually configure the contents of that template.
Alternatively, OVAB creates a specialized VM template that is constructed and configured to run a single instance of a particular product component that you have selected to be packaged into that appliance. Currently the list of supported products include WebLogic Server, Coherence, HTTP Server, and Database. The differentiation between OVAB and OTB is that as part of creating the VM template, OVAB extracts properties specific to the product that's packaged into that template, and then allows for those properties to be dynamically specified and automatically configured when that VM template is instantiated.
So OVAB and OTB are created with different uses in mind. OVAB is specialized for creating appliances containing specific products, while OTB is intended for creating VM templates containing arbitrary s/w packages.

Upgrade pre-built Oracle Virtual Machine using Siebel VM template
Hello
I'm planning to deploy a Siebel environment for testing purposes using Oracle Virtual Machines templates (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/siebel-092480.html). this template has been made to deploy Siebel CRM SIA 8.1.1.ENU and i need the 8.1.1.7 version with ENU and ESN languages
My main questions are:
after complete the Siebel installation using this template (8.1.1 ENU), is it possible to upgrade to 8.1.1.7 version? is it possible to add ESN language?
thanks and best regards!

Oracle Virtual Directory vs. Oracle External Authentication Plug-in
I am working in Windows 2003 Server platform and I have Oracle Portal 10g R2 with Oracle Single Sign On 10g R2 setup. I also have Microsoft Active Directory setup. I want to use Microsoft Active Directory users from Oracle Portal and as per my understanding I could use Oracle External Authentication Plug-in or Oracle Virtual Directory for this purpose. I would like to use Oracle Virtual Directory if possible. Could someone please tell me if I could use Oracle Virtual Directory or not?
Thanks.Yeah, I could use Oracle External Authentication Plug-in, but I am having issues with running the oidspadi.sh script on my Windows 2003 server environment. I am running this script using Cygwin's latest software, but for some reason I get the following error message.
: command not found8:

Therefore, I was trying to find an alternative solution, which will be using Virtual Directory. Right now, I have installed Oracle Virtual Directory on my testing system and I have both Active Directory server and OID server part of LDAP Browser. My goal is to using Oracle Portal to log-in and first look for the user in OID if not found then look in Active Directory. Can this be accomplished using Oracle Virtual Directory?
Please let me know. -
Problems with Oracle.DataAccess assembly after installing Oracle 11gR2
Windows 7 x64 SP1
Visual Studio 2010
ODAC112012
Oracle 11gR2 11.2.0.1.0 for Windows x64
Oracle Patch 12429529
IIS 7.0
I had my development machine setup and working with all of the above items except for the Oracle 11gR2(and patch), I was using a separate Oracle server. However everything went bad after the installation of 11gR2, I get the following error when trying to run the web application: "Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.DataAccess, Version=2.111.7.10, Culture=neutral'"...
My application is built in .NET 3.5 and the application pool is in 32 bit mode in IIS 7.
Do I have to do something with the assembly rebind trick?:
C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_32\Policy.2.102.Oracle.DataAccess\2.112.1.2__89b483f429c47342>Policy.2.102.Oracle.DataAccess.config
Any help is very appreciated.I don't run Oracle server locally just avoid stuff like this, but since you installed an x64 server while having the application running in x86 mode, one potential issue is that the binding redirect you were using is no longer working because it's set for the 64 bit version instead. You don't have 2.111.7.10 on the machine at all, so try deleting that reference and pointing directly at your ODAC version.
Alternately reconfigure the project to compile for x64 and disable 32 bit mode in IIS, then use the 64 bit client. -
Query Builder using Word Template Builder
I have created a cover letter as an rtf inserting the needed fields into the letter, it tests correctly, and populates the data from the xml file. When I try to create the report query and browse to the rtf and click on create query I get this response:
page not found error with this url: http://servername/apex/wwv_flow.accept. Any ideas about what is occurring here would be appreciated, this is the first time I have tried to do this.
Thanks,
David.That works perfectly - thanks a million!!!!
Quick follow up question - do you know where in the documentation I could find this? I tried to quickly locate it and couldn't...and would prefer not to have to bother everyone on the forums.
Thanks again for the help!\

Unable to Preview barcode font fields in Word Template Builder PDF Preview
I have searched for solutions to this problem but did not find anything that I have not tried. I have IDAutomation Barcode fonts installed and am using the Word template builder v10.1.3.4 Build 129. I can successfully preview in an RTF, but not a PDF. Any suggestions?

XML Publisher/Bi Publisher Using Oracle Package and MS Word Template builde
My Question is I want to know more about grouping of elements while creating reports in E business suite.
my approach should be 1. pl sql package with embedded XML data to create xml output. 2. Formatting the xml output using ms word template builder plugin.
My question is if grouping is required, then where should it be? While creating package to generate xml output or while formatting xml o/p in ms word?
I wanted to create a check cancellation report where the report should look like below.
Bank Name American express
Bank address 1 Cape town city Road
bank address 2 Lane 2
Bank City Cape town
Branch Docara v'dola
Check number Amount Vendor Status
1023423 225 huawei Voided
1023430 500 Ericson Voided
Signature
Now for above grouping I Written some thing like below package:
But I want to know Had I not done the grouping in Package, would it have still be possible to do the grouping in MS Word template builder?
To simply fy question: If I had not written 2 cursors and written 1 simple cursor and had got simple 1 after 1 fields without any specific grouping in ora package, would it have been possible to do the same grouping while formatting the xml output in MS word template builder?
the part of code enclosed.

endHi,
You can do grouping in either place. But ideally to avoid re-grouping in the BI Publisher Template your XML would be generated such that it is appropriate for your template.
This is really important when it comes to very large datasets as you should avoid regrouping in the template in this case.

Must I use a OCI driver?

we no need to buid a report.we want generate a sql query using GUI drag and drop query builder.
our suggestion is provide synonym for all objects and give to clinet, but in apex query builder only show view and table...
it not show synonym thats the problem..
simply we want oracle query browser.just want build a query.through synonym schema.
we cerate a oracle user and provide synonym for live tables.then we provide the synonym user to client place,so they want build a query simpl.
they dont have sql knowledge.

Oracle Graphics Builder in Oracle Developer Suite 10g
Dear All,
I would like to immigrate from Oracle Developer 6.0 to Oracle Developer Suite 10g for our company application. I had a design tool called as Graphics Builder in Developer 6.0 but What I see in Oracle Developer Suite 10g that this tool doesn't exist any more. I still need to use all Graphics of the company application.
Is Graphics Builder out of the Developer package of Oracle any more ? If yes, then how can I make the design of Graphics in Developer Suite ? Is it a seperate tool any more I should have next to Developer Suite 10g ?
I would be glad if experinced colleaques guide me on this ?
Many Thanks for your valuable helps,
Regards,
MeriçIs Graphics Builder out of the Developer package of Oracle any more ?Yes, Oracle has discontinued the "Graphics Builder product. In order to include graphical charts in your 10g Form you will need to use the BI Graph Bean that is included in the <a href="http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/downloads/index.html">Oracle Forms 11g Downloads</a> - Oracle Forms 11g Demo Pack. Download this .zip file and look at the *demos.html* document for instructions on how to use this Java Bean.
