Oracle virtual box and OEL 64 bit installation

Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help.
I have a centos5 x86-64bit installation and have downloaded virtualbox and have started to install OEL 64bit.
All appear well until I get a message saying that
yelp-2.16.0-13.el5.x86_64 cannot be opened.
I can either retry (the result is the same message) or I can reboot which seems to defeat the object of the exercise.
does anyone have any experience on how to resolve this issue?
regards
Alan

Hi Alan,
to be honest, I always took the "DVD iso" to install... not the CD images. I never tried the CD images...
Furthermore yelp-2.0.16-13 is OEL 5.0... which is pretty old, I would suggest you at least taking the CDs of OEL 5.4....
I could imagine that the VM support was not that good in OEL 5.0...

Sebastian

    Hi,
According to the result of "ipconfig /all", the physical adapter dosen't appear.
Please check if the physical network adapter works properly. We can verify this in Device Manager.
To open Device Manager by using the Windows interface
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    Click Hardware and Sound.
    Click Device Manager.
If the network adapter is working properly, please make sure that the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) has been checked in the properties of the physical network adapter.
If issue persists, please try to uninstall the Oracle Virtual box.
    Best Regards.

  • Using Oracle RAC VM tmeplates - Oracle Virtual Box

Greetings - can any one guide me to use Oracle RAC vm templates using Oracle Virtual Box?
    Appreciated!

There is no need to burn a DVD because Virtualbox can directly mount and boot from the .iso image you downloaded. It is usually a good idea to check the md5 checksum of your download with the number provided by the download page to verify your download is not corrupted. There are no problems installing any version of Oracle Linux under Virtualbox provided you have the right hardware. I suggest to check the Virtualbox documentation.

  • Installing Server 2008 using Oracle Virtual Box

Hey there does anyone know how to install server 2008 as a virtual machine using Oracle Virtual Box?

    Hi,
Due to Virtual Box is not related to Microsoft product, I suggest you try to look Virtual Box for
    help.
By the way, I find some articles

  • Uninstalling Sun Virtual Box and Windows 7 from Macbook Pro?

    Hi everyone!
Can anyone tell me how to properly UN-install Sun's Virtual Box and Windows 7 Beta from my Macbook Pro so I can reinstall Windows 7 Beta thru Boot Camp?
I recently installed Sun's Virtual Box and Windows 7 Beta on my Macbook Pro. It works fine, but there are some things about Virtual Box I am not happy with. I'm told that uninstalling both Windows 7 and Virtual Box and reinstalling Windows 7 through Boot Camp will be better for what I want and Windows 7 will run much better that way.

    goducks14 wrote:
Thank you - I really appreciate your response. I did delete the .dmg so I guess I will have to re-download it from Sun and then uninstall it as you suggested.
Maybe you can answer another quick question? I am hearing both YES and NO in regards to being able to install the Windows 7 Beta using Boot Camp. Any problems that you might be aware of?
If you visit our BootCamp forum you will find many users running Win7http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1244
While Win7 is not supported, for many users, that's not important.
When I installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit on this MBP, it was not supported and I installed it under Tiger and a beta of BootCamp! It still works. Experimenting is fun and a great learning experience.
Just be sure you have a viable backup - SuperDuper!, CCC or TM before installing BootCamp and Win7 and you always have a path for a recovery should anything go wrong.
    Enjoy!

  • Importing Oracle Virtual Box VM into OVS 2.2

    Hi All,
1] We bought a New Dell PowerEdge Server. we installed the OVS 2.2 onto the same.
2] Now I have couple of VM that are riunning inside VirtualBox S/w. I created these m/c for POC's.
3] I want to move these machines to OVS 2.2 server so that it will be run by OVS and managed by OVM.
There is no clear documentation regarding the same. There is no vm.cfg file for the Virtual Box.
For a Std VirtualBox machine; we have .ovf and couple of .vmdk files. I have multiple .vmdk file for my single VM.
Can you point me to docs/procedure on how to migrate these machines from VirtualBox env(which is 2008 server running virtualBox Client) to OVS server 2.2??
    Regards
    Sushil

I executed the V2V process for converting the VMWare Images to OVM but mine are Oracle VirtualBox Images
To import VMware VMDK images using Oracle VM Manager, follow the same process you would to import any other virtual machine image resource, generally
from an external source (HTTP or FTP location), using the Import wizard. Or you can copy the VMDK image files manually into /OVS/running_pool directory.
Oracle VM will automatically detect that the image is in the VMDK format and convert the image file to an Oracle VM format and deploy it to the specified
    Server Pool.
The OVS is detecting the directory containing the files for my VM. After importing the manager UI is failing with "OVM-5004 Invalid virtual machine config file." error

  • Virtual Box and my CD-ROM

    Good evening
I am not sure if this is the right place to query this...
I have just installed Virtual Box on my machine, this is like a VM ware for me to run Windows... (sorry but its needed for my University software, a pain I know) although I am very new to Macs I need to know how I can locate/navigate to the CR-ROM drive via Finder.
I understand this may be called ATA as I have seen this in a few places but I would just like some guidance on this one.
    Thank you all in advance...

    GazzaT,
Like said before you have to have a disc in the computer to really see the disc drive. And in that case you will just see the disc. However if you want to access this disc from Virtual Box you will have to put the disc into your computer and then (Mount) it in Virtual Box. To do so I believe while in Your Virtual Machine Goto (Devices)/(Mount CD/DVD-Rom)/(Host Drive.....(name of host drive)) after which it will appear in My Computer like normal. After you are done using it in Windows you will have to Eject it From windows and then I believe it will remount in Mac. Do note you cant use your CD drive at the same time on Mac and Windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle/linux box and oracle NT server

    Hi!
I have very specific question and wonder if anybody can be of
help. We're going to setup web page using oracle data. Which
oracle product should we use for getting information off of the
NT server running oracle 7.3.4? Is there a free client license
for Linux client - that would be possibly helpful for setting up
web server on the linux box and launching sqlplus in the linux
environment in order to take data from different box - NT server.
I've known that there is a product for linux called Web DB that
can be rather helpful. Is there any other way to establish
connection between linux web server and NT oracle database? If
anybody has any idea i would be very glad to hear from you.

    Eugene
you can access an Oracle server running on any Host from Linux as
long as you have Oracle SQL-Net installed.
On top of SQL-Net you can use any other software, like Perl,
    PHP3, etc.
If you use Perl, you need to install the perl modules DBI and
    DBD-Oracle.

When i check with MD5sum for the above file, not one file is matched with the given hash code series.
Even i joined all the files which resulted in oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z and when i tried to extract it to get *.OVA* , i am ending with an error cannot open archive file ! I:\SOA VM Box\SOA\oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z: Cannot open I:\SOA VM Box\SOA\oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z
I doubt the archive is corrupted. But i dont see any specific error of it.
I download same files 4 time, but all are ended with same error.
    I refereed this document + http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/learnmore/soabpmvirtualboxreadme-1612068.pdf+.
Can some one please help me if any one have solution.
    Regards,
    Tarak.

    Hi Taark,
If the MD5sum is not matching it's probably because is corrupted... Are you behind a proxy server when downloading the files, it's possible that the proxy server has some anti-virus and it's removing something from the file...
May you can ask the security guys in your company to try and download the files for you from a dmz location avoiding the proxy and see if something changes...
    Cheers,
    VLAD

Starting VM box manager for the first time requires to choose

What CD I am suppose to use in the D drive?

If my host OS is same as guest OS, then shall I insert my host OS cd?

  • Regarding 32 bit and 64 bit installations

    Dear Gurus
My OS version is 32-bit windows and i installed vmware on it.On vmware i installed 64-bit windows.now my requirement is to install 64 bit IAS server on that 64 bit
    windows on vmware.Is it possible.
As one of my collegue is saying 64 bit OS is required for the basic machine. My question is when i am able to install windows machine of 64bit on vmware then why not
64 bit application server on the 64 bit OS of vmware.

First of all, IAS = Internet Application Server, so this has nothing to do with Oracle Database.
Please try to use the correct forum.
Secondly, it doesn't make sense to install 64-bit Vmware on a 32-bit host.
Remember Vmware only emulates an OS.
Also Windows 64-bit is still for a large part running 32-bit programs (Firefox and Chrome are both 32-bit programs).
