  • Using Oracle RAC VM tmeplates - Oracle Virtual Box

Greetings - can any one guide me to use Oracle RAC vm templates using Oracle Virtual Box?
    Appreciated!

There is no need to burn a DVD because Virtualbox can directly mount and boot from the .iso image you downloaded. It is usually a good idea to check the md5 checksum of your download with the number provided by the download page to verify your download is not corrupted. There are no problems installing any version of Oracle Linux under Virtualbox provided you have the right hardware. I suggest to check the Virtualbox documentation.

    Hi,
According to the result of "ipconfig /all", the physical adapter dosen't appear.
Please check if the physical network adapter works properly. We can verify this in Device Manager.
To open Device Manager by using the Windows interface
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
    Click Hardware and Sound.
    Click Device Manager.
If the network adapter is working properly, please make sure that the Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) has been checked in the properties of the physical network adapter.
If issue persists, please try to uninstall the Oracle Virtual box.
    Best Regards.

  • Importing Oracle Virtual Box VM into OVS 2.2

    Hi All,
1] We bought a New Dell PowerEdge Server. we installed the OVS 2.2 onto the same.
2] Now I have couple of VM that are riunning inside VirtualBox S/w. I created these m/c for POC's.
3] I want to move these machines to OVS 2.2 server so that it will be run by OVS and managed by OVM.
There is no clear documentation regarding the same. There is no vm.cfg file for the Virtual Box.
For a Std VirtualBox machine; we have .ovf and couple of .vmdk files. I have multiple .vmdk file for my single VM.
Can you point me to docs/procedure on how to migrate these machines from VirtualBox env(which is 2008 server running virtualBox Client) to OVS server 2.2??
    Regards
    Sushil

I executed the V2V process for converting the VMWare Images to OVM but mine are Oracle VirtualBox Images
To import VMware VMDK images using Oracle VM Manager, follow the same process you would to import any other virtual machine image resource, generally
from an external source (HTTP or FTP location), using the Import wizard. Or you can copy the VMDK image files manually into /OVS/running_pool directory.
Oracle VM will automatically detect that the image is in the VMDK format and convert the image file to an Oracle VM format and deploy it to the specified
    Server Pool.
The OVS is detecting the directory containing the files for my VM. After importing the manager UI is failing with "OVM-5004 Invalid virtual machine config file." error

When i check with MD5sum for the above file, not one file is matched with the given hash code series.
Even i joined all the files which resulted in oel5u5-64bit-soabpm-11gr1-ps5-2-0-M.7z and when i tried to extract it to get *.OVA* , i am ending with an error cannot open archive file ! I doubt the archive is corrupted. But i dont see any specific error of it.
I download same files 4 time, but all are ended with same error.
    I refereed this document + http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/learnmore/soabpmvirtualboxreadme-1612068.pdf+.
Can some one please help me if any one have solution.
    Regards,
    Tarak.

    Hi Taark,
If the MD5sum is not matching it's probably because is corrupted... Are you behind a proxy server when downloading the files, it's possible that the proxy server has some anti-virus and it's removing something from the file...
May you can ask the security guys in your company to try and download the files for you from a dmz location avoiding the proxy and see if something changes...
    Cheers,

Starting VM box manager for the first time requires to choose

What CD I am suppose to use in the D drive?
Is the the guest operating system cd?
If my host OS is same as guest OS, then shall I insert my host OS cd?
Please help me understand this step. What actually goes on behind the scene when I start the VM machine for the first time after assigning RAM and Disk size.

  • Install MAC OS X 10.63 on a PC using Oracle Virtual Box

Hi I have a Sony VAIO PC I have tried to install MAC OS X 10.63 Snow Leopard using Oracle Virtualbox but it failed to boot from disc. I have spent 4 hours online with a justanswer.com analyst and he tried various things like copying to an isa and changing various settings but it did not work

Virtual machine software makers won't violate Apple's EULA's.
You can only run OS X on Apple hardware.
However there is a solution if your willing to run Linux, it looks and acts like OS X (even better in some areas) and it's free to download and use.
You won't be able to run OS X software, but free Linux software instead.
The best way to go about this is to download and then install Linux Mint 10 (DVD 32bit Gnome) into your VirtualBox,
    http://www.linuxmint.com/release.php?id=15
Next perform this Linux adjustment in terminal (in Linux)
    http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/326
Once you do that then you can update Linux Mint via the Update Manager.
What this will do is give you Linux Mint, which is the best Linux version (especially for newbies as everything is included), it has the gnome desktop based upon Ubuntu Linux, then after making the MacBuntu desktop switch you'll have a OS X looking UI on your PC in VirtualBox. (safer)
The instructions work for Linux Mint 10, so that's why I gave you Linux Mint 10 link, even though Linux Mint is at 12, so you upgrade from within Linux Mint to 12 later got it?
Search YouTube to see what MacBuntu looks like yourself.
Remember your installing Linux into VirtualBox running under Windows, don't create a boot cd of Linux and install it directly onto your Windows machine without knowing full well what your doing as Windows could disappear as a result.
Note: With Mac's we are pretty much stuck ONLY running OS X on our machines (and Windows 7), Apple doesn't support anything else, but on your PC hardware you can run any operating system you want, just not OS X.

  • Oracle virtual box and OEL 64 bit installation

    Hi,
    Wonder if anyone can help.
I have a centos5 x86-64bit installation and have downloaded virtualbox and have started to install OEL 64bit.
All appear well until I get a message saying that
    yelp-2.16.0-13.el5.x86_64 cannot be opened.
I can either retry (the result is the same message) or I can reboot which seems to defeat the object of the exercise.
does anyone have any experience on how to resolve this issue?
    regards
    Alan

    Hi Alan,
to be honest, I always took the "DVD iso" to install... not the CD images. I never tried the CD images...
Furthermore yelp-2.0.16-13 is OEL 5.0... which is pretty old, I would suggest you at least taking the CDs of OEL 5.4....
I could imagine that the VM support was not that good in OEL 5.0...
    Regards
    Sebastian

    Hi,
I have upgraded my VirtualBox Vm to 10049. I did not have any problems, it took a long time though. As others have said, check your video memory (I have 128MB) also your free HDD space, You should need at least 8GB free. I am running VirtualBox v 4.3.24.
    Hope this helps.

The Host Key should be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the VirtualBox machine's window. A pop-up message will also appear when you first start up the virtual machine, explaining that you will need the host key to escape out.
