Oracle VM 3.1.1: Open vSwitch

Is Open vSwitch used in Oracle VM 3.1.1 (or is OVM still using the Linux Bridge Utilities)?

Afaik, OVM 3.1.1 still uses the regular bridge utils. Why do you ask? Performing any kind of system configuration other then through the ovs-agent is strongly discouraged by Oracle. You can get into a lot of trouble, if you start messing with the bridge configurations on your VM server.

requried the installation of libaio... i installed the package by smart ....
after that installation was fine...
but when i try to login :

It probably isn't visible by your oracle environment, please verify the value of your LD_LIBRARY_PATH, PATH, and ORACLE_HOME environment variables.

Jrun struts oracle jdc - not able to open pages

Hi,
I am using JRun4 / JDK1.4.2 with struts. I use Oracle JDBC for RDBMS.
My prob:
I am able to open the index page and created a login validation which is done by JDBC. Here I have a bean to validate the login and set the attributes accordingly. Now if I say submit with valid login details, it doesn't go to the next page.

Oracle error ORA-604 when opening a connection

I am facing an issue with my WCF service which is using ODP.NET version 4.112.2.0(x64) and Oracle 11g.
The service runs without any problems on the test servers but on production server (Windows 2008 R2) when an attempt is made to call any service method it fails with the following Oracle error code Ora-604. the message is
ORA-604: error occurred at recursive SQL level %s
The exception is thrown when a call to meethod Open is made to open a connection.
There is no inner exception. So far I have tried checking the connection string, the user permissions and setting the TNS_ADMIN environment variable but nothing has worked.
Another thing to mention is that another WCF service which uses some of the same stored procedure I am using is working fine on the same server.
Has anyone seen this before?

Do you have a login trigger?
select * from dba_triggers where triggering_event like 'LOGON%'
If so, try disabling it.
Does the working service use the same credentials as this problem service?
Are you able to connect using sqlplus, with the same credentials from the same client to the same database? If it's not an ODP.NET specific problem, the dba guys might be able to help better: General Database Discussions

Using Oracle "Import PDF" Extension in Open Office Draw to Edit pdf Files

I am a fairly new Mac user with OS X 10.6. For several months, I have been trying to find something which would edit pdf files better than Preview does (for example, the content of a text box in Preview can only be "center aligned"). Skim and FormulatePro were two options I tried that were improvements over Preview in many respects, but wouldn't let me paste an image onto my pdf (such as, for example, if I wanted to put my digital signature on a document).
Then, I "discovered" the Oracle PDF Import Extension which I had installed in Open Office months ago, but hadn't really used. By "discovered," I mean I read on somebody's blog that you could use Open Office Draw to edit pdf files and I thought, "Hey, I wonder if that would work with my setup." (Boy, do I feel stupid.)
I have just started using this functionality, but in just an hour or so of playing around, I have found that it has far exceeded my expectations and, even, my immediate needs. Besides giving you (a) all the control over text and text boxes that you would expect from, say, a word processing program and (b) allowing you to paste images onto your pdf, Open Office Draw also includes layers!
The layer function threw me off for a bit, because, at first, I kept finding that my attempts to edit the document resulted in grabbing the raster image and moving it "off" of the underlying text layer (a function, I will admit, that I think will be worth exploiting someday, but wasn't what I was looking for at the moment). Then, I discovered that you can "lock" the layer so as to prevent this annoying occurrence. To create your edits, simply create a new layer (call it "MyEdits" or whatever you want) and you're in business.
Anybody who has done anything more than drawn a couple of lines and boxes on a page has discovered that editing the overlapping objects can be a real pain - if not an outright impossibility. Separating these overlapping objects through the use of different layers solves the problem.
The only downside to the use of Open Office Draw as a pdf editing tool that I can see is that you must import the pdf, save your edits in odg format, and then export it to pdf when you're done. I know that we would all like to have the capability of doing everything I just described directly to the native document, but, hey, for all the functionality I have been searching the internet for weeks to find, I think it's a reasonable trade off.

I'm trying to access Oracle Apps in Windows 8 Environment. When I try to open any EBS form, every time it ask me to install J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07,
Below is the error message
In order to access this application, you must install the J2SE Plugin version 1.6.0_07. To install this plugin, click here to download the oaj2se.exe executable. Once the download is complete, double-click the oaj2se.exe file to install the plugin. You will be prompted to restart your browser when the installation is complete.
Please help me if anyone has come across such issues in Windows 8 environment.

my purchasing department wants to change old po report.they want to add perchasing status is open.my problem is where can i find perchasing status in the oracle standart tables and want to add this cloumn to my old report in descoverer.

You (and the purchasing dep) must be more specific.
What is the needed status - header / line / shipments / distributions ?
There are lots of "Staus" fields...
Best way for you is to let them show you the status they want as it apears in the oracle applications, then you can investigate the form to get the source.
Could also be that the "PO Status" is a setup done on your company, so the correct way is to start from the scren and go back to the DB.
Once you will find the source you can then add the needed field to the BA and to the relevant forder.
Another way is to have a function return for you the status you need, once you have this function you can add it to any folder using calculated item in the BA folder.
there are some seeded functions that return a po status but since your description was a bit fade, i am not sure this is what you actually need.
You can run the below in your DB and check if you got lucky enough to get "for free" what you were asked for :

Problem in Oracle EM (Database Limits - Current Open Cursors)

I have a problem in Oracle Enterprise Manager in All Metrics.
When I select in All Metrics e.g. Health Check > Maintenance it work's fine and I see a chart.
If I select in All Metrics > Database Limits > Current Open Cursors Count I got following error:

Hello Mark,
personally I don;t think it is a good idea to drop schema's from the database that have been installed as part of the activation of a certain Database Option. If you don't want the option, then don't instal it.

Oracle Net config assistant not opening on windows.

Hi,
I installed Oracle 9i server on a windows XP machine on Friday, 2nd December. I configured the listener service, netconfig name and my application was up and running.
Today I wanted to make some changes in the listener service; but the net config assistant window is not coming up. New processes launch.exe and jrew.exe are starting in the background with each attempt to launch.
I made sure I am logged in as the same user which installed Oracle on the machine(having ORA_DBA privilages), gave the full control privilages to this user. But the net config assistant is still not opening up.
Could anyone help in this regard.

I get this error when connecting to with SQLPLUS to Oracle.
I have reordered paths in LD_LIBRARY_PATH
so $ORACLE_HOME/lib is before /usr/lib
and recompiled make -f ins_rdbms.mk install
and make -f ins_rdbms.mk ioracle
I can only connect as oracle in the install group
I have found some posts the suggest changing mode of the oracle executable. but that doesn't seem to help.
I have tried to $ORACLE_HOME/bin/relink all
but that didn't help either.
Please advise.

According to the following docs, you should not get this error when you apply Patch 8904424 so I would suggest you log a SR.

Oracle 10g Express won't open after Windows Patches

Hi all,
Yesterday I successfully installed Oracle 10g Express on a new Windows 2003 server with SP1. However today I can't open the Database Homepage - it is returning an error: "The page cannot be displayed" when I am trying to connect to http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
The only thing I can see as having changed between last night and this morning was that when I shut down the server last night 50 Windows Patches were installed. I wasn't paying enough attention last night and by the time I realised what was going on I couldn't stop the installation of these patches.
So, does anyone know which Windows Patch may have caused this issue and if so is there a MS Patch Fix (surprise, surprise) or do I just uninstall that patch.
I really don't want to have to go through the pain of formatting the machine and starting again.

Oracle BPM compser is not opened

Hi all,
I had installed the OBPM as per the installation guide. every thing is fine but when i open http://localhost:7001/bpm/composer iam unable to login in with the username
and password.However the welcome page iam able to acess.Can any one help me out.

Hi Rajen
1. Try with the admin username and password and it should work. Remember this is the domain admin that I am talking to.
2. Now from EM Console, you can configure different sets of Users/Groups to various roles within BPM Composer like Admin, Developer, Deployer etc. In EM Console on left side, expand Application Deployments -> Select OracleBPMComposerRolesApp. Here from right click menu, select Security -> Application Roles. On right side, just click on Green Arrow and you see out of box Roles. By default, BPMComposerAdmin will have domain Adminstrator.
3. If you have Users in External AD that is configured with your bpm domain, then you had to do above step 2.
If you still get errors, with the domain admin also, look into the log files for more details on errors. Does it say like invalid username/password or what exactly happens when you try logging.
