Oracle VM 3.3.1 VM Machine cloning

Dear All,
I have an Oracle OVM 3.3.1 with 02 Server pool
Server pool 1
Server  Pool : PROD_POOL
Physical Server ovms1
Repository: PROD_REPOSITORY
Server pool 2
Server  Pool : TEST_POOL
Physical Server ovms2
Repository: TEST_REPOSITORY
I want to clone VM Machine vm1 running on Server pool 1 to Server pool 2
And I did it with the following Setting
Clone to a: Virtual Machine
Clone Count: 1
Clone Name: VM2
Target Server Pool: TEST_POOL
Clone Customizer: I did storage mapping + Network mapping correctly
Target Repository: TEST_REPOSITORY
But the clone fails with the message below
OVMAPI_7262E Unable to find an owned and running server to perform copy file operation on vm1_system.
Reasons:
ovms2 : - Repository: PROD_POOL is not presented on server ovms2.
ovms1 : - Repository: TEST_POOL is not presented on server: ovms1.
Cloning VM machine between pool was working for me perfectly when I was using Oracle VM 2 and it was very simple,
but now I and surprised that it is little bite complicated with OVM3, end more ever it's not working at all
and I don't know if it is related to some wrong configuration in my OVM 3 or its Oracle VM limitation???
Any one has tried it before?
Thank you

Hi Budy,
Thanks a lot for your replay,
if you see my my message below ... i used Clone Customize and i mapped the virtual disks to the new Repository, and i mapped the network as well to new network,
and also i want to clone the VM machine from Prod Server Pool to Test Server pool  each one has it won storage repository
Best Regards

  • Cannot find an Oracle Linux installation for 32 bit machines

Can anyone show me where to find a linux oracle 11g or 10g installation for a 32 bit machine.
The ones I downloaded from oracle are all for x86 64bit machines.
    Thanks

    On following page
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/dat
    abase/index.html
    this is the link
    http://download.oracle.com/otn/linux/oracle11g/linux_x
86_11gR1_database.zipWhat I actually said is that the link provided is for 64bits linux machines.
When I try running uname -r on my linux bash prompt, I get the i3686 tellin g me that I am running a 32bit machine.
On the other hand, installation guide specifies that we should check the kernel version and system architecture.
I don't think I should continue installation on seeing that I am trying to install a 64bit product on a 32bit system.

  • Oracle Workflow Server in a SUN machine; and the Oracle

    Hi All
I have installed Oracle Workflow Server in a SUN machine; and the Oracle
Workflow Client (Builder) in a WIN2000 machine.
In the SUN machine, I already had installed Oracle9i and OMS (Oracle
    Management Server) version 9.2.0.1.0.
In the WINDOWS 2000 machine, I already had installed the Oracle9i
Client and the OWB (Oracle Warehouse Builder) version 9.0.3.35.0. Workflow
    Builder
was installed together with Oracle Client components.
I have a OWB (Oracle Warehouse Builder) project, and I deploy and schedule
    JOBS in OEM.
Now I need Oracle Workflow in order to better ordering, manage and schedule
    that jobs.
    I'm reading the following documentation:
    Oracle Workflow Guide (Release 2.6.2)
http://www.csis.gvsu.edu/GeneralInfo/Oracle/workflow.920/a95265.pdf But I think Oracle Workflow is very complex to learn quickly.
My OWB Project has several mappings that load tables in a Data Warehouse.
When I deploy these mappings one by one, in OEM, I can execute them in OEM
    and they work well.
But when I use the Workflow Deployment Wizard, I create a new Workflow
    Project (Item type and Process).
But I can't Launch this process. I go to Launch Process in Workflow page
(http://:/pls//) but when I iniciate the project,
it stops in the OWB Standard Begin Function. It does not go ahead.
Well, when I use the Workflow Deployment Wizard inside OWB, it generates
    jobs that can
be viewed inside OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) too. But when I submit
these jobs, I can't get success too.
Can somebody help me? May you guide me in order to solve my problem, or send
    me some
documents or links about workflow, and it's integration with OWB and OEM?
    Best regards

I think this might be more of an OWB question, and how OWB uses workflow, I have sent an email internally to try and get someone to responsd. You should also consider contacting Oracle Support if you are having these kinds of problems.

do you really have to stay at that version first of all, 11gR1 is out and 9iR2 is de-supported recently and I couldnt find this release's documentation also.
What about tnsping and sqlplus connection from your clients and listener status on your server - lsnrctl status
You may need to set, take and analyze sql*net traces - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/java.102/b14355/apxtblsh.htm#i1004660

  • How Do I Install Oracle Unbreakable Linux on My Virtual Machine

I would like to know the steps required to install Oracle Unbreakable Linux on my Virtual Machine, cos i tried to but i keep having problems when i get to selecting the destination for the installation, the prompt says i have to allow it format my hard disk wont i lose my files in the process.

When you create a virtual disk for your VMWare instance the format will only affect this disk. You can see this as it will display the size of the disk. If this is the size of the virtual disk (default = 8 GB) then go ahead. If this looks like your normal HD just stop and read the VMWare installation Guide from www.vmware.com

  • Has anyone installed Oracle VM Server on Sun X4600 machines

    Hi,
I am having problems with Oracle VM Server on Sun X4600 machines with 8 dual-core AMD opteron 8220 processors and 32 GB ram. The repository is on a shared LUN over two Emulex LPe11000 HBA's.
My problem is basically that dom0 reboots when I power on certain guest installations. I have succesfully installed EL4U5 guests after setting the irqpoll in grub.conf of dom0. But I am unable to complete an installation of for example EL5U1 or some of the templates available on the Oracle web site. Half way through the installation or when I power on the template the dom0 reboots.
Has anyone experiences with Oracle VM on these machines or similar hardware ?

You can download RedHat advance server from following site.
This is only for oracle internal use.
    http://tintin/oralnx/oralnx.html
    Go to Download section.
Click on RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 and go to 2.1-Gold-CD.
This has five CD CD 1to 3 for server install. 3 and 4 has all source rpm. 5 is doc cd. checksum file has checksum for all 5 CD.
If you have any question let me know.

So for machine_1 to communicate with machine_2 i.e., the presentation server to communicate with bi server what configuration steps should be done like where do we mention that the bi server is located in a particular machine.Well....machine_1 holds the instanceconfig.xml file ..which has first tag as DSN -- AnalyticsWeb,
now the AnalyticsWeb DSN of ODBC.ini file consists of ServerMachine=machine_2
This is how BI Presentation Server recognizes the BI server

  • Restore Oracle XE 10g Database to another machine

    Hello,
I have an oracle XE database on a Windows XP machine, and I want to copy it to a Windows 7 machine.
On the XP, I performed a backup through the "Backup Database" from the GUI. The Oracle backup created 3 new folders underneath C:\ORACLEXE\APP\ORACLE\FLASH_RECOVERY_AREA\XE\
    ARCHIVELOG
    AUTOBACKUP
    BACKUPSET
I installed XE on the Windows 7 machine and it seems to work well.
Then I coped the 3 backup folders onto a jump drive and put them in the corresponding folder structure on the new Windows 7 machine. I ran the Restore from the GUI as an administrator. The restore failed, and I can't seem to figure out why. I'm not sure what the Sequence Numbers are all about.
Now I can't get into Apex or Apex_Admin
Thanks for taking a look at this.

    Hi Hemant,
Thanks for responding. I still need some help.
I copied the Restore.bat file, and added the line SET UNTIL RESTORE POINT right after the SET LOCAL line.
Then I deleted and copied the three folders (ARCHIVELOG, AUTOBACKUP, BACKUPSET) that were produced from the Backup on the original machine to the corresponding location on the new machine. I ran the modified BAT file as an administrator and got similar results.

  • Installation Of Oracle 8.1.5 on Win2k machine

    Hi,
I am installing Oracle 8.1.5 on a Win2k machine. The configuration of which is as under:
    1> IBM X360.
    2> iNTEL fOSTER xEON 1.5GHz
    3> Dual Processor
    4> 512KB Cache
    5> 36GB * 3 HDD(RAID5)
    6> Windows 2000 Advance Server.
While doing a typical installation, the installation after reaching 85% of the installation it throws an error as below:
    ORA-04031:unable to allocate 81968560 bytes of shared memory("shared pool","unknown object","sga heap",db_block_buffers")
The problem was later solved by going for custom installation & giving a smaller sga size i.e. a smaller shared pool size & db_block_buffers.
My question is why the above mentioned error occurred when doing a typical installation on a totally new fresh server? & why after going for a custom installation with lesser SGA Size it worked?
    Thanking you.

  • Oracle VM Manager 3.0 - Virtual Machine Console Access

Does anybody else out there seem to have problems launching the console to get into a VM Guest? When we do, we get the login screen and then nothing. It doesn't appear to be firewall related. We had similiar issues in 2.2.
    Any tricks on this?

We had similiar issues in 2.2.There is no direct VNC access between your client and the Oracle VM Servers any more. Ensure you have port 15901 open from the client desktop to the Oracle VM Manager machine and that you have all the VNC ports open from Oracle VM Manager to the Oracle VM Servers. We now proxy VNC via the Manager for improved security and simpler configurations.
Also, you will still need to install the tightvnc-java RPM separately, as described in the documentation, to ensure the Java VNC console is installed. This needs to be installed on your Oracle VM Manager server.

  • Oracle dblink to mysql in Linux machines

    Hi,
I want to make a dblink between to linux machines, one with oracle 11g database and the other with MySQL 5.0.77 database. The objective is to create triggers on a few tables in the oracle side and automatically synchronize it with same other tables in the mysql side. Can someone explain me how to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
To connect to MySQL from Oracle you can use the Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC). There are various notes available in My Oracle Support which give details of the setup -
Note.1083703.1 Master Note for Oracle Gateway Products
    Note.466228.1 How to Setup DG4ODBC on Linux x86 32bit
Note.561033.1 How to Setup DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX)
Once you have the gateway installed and configured you can refer to MySQL tables in the triggers using the gateway database link.
However, you need to be aware that DG4ODBC does not support distributed transactions so you would need to have a commit between any Oracle updates and updates to MySQL in the trigger, so you would need to be careful about error checking.

  • Oracle 9i, 10g, 11g on same machine...11g not working....

    Hello All,
    I have a dilemma.
I have a server that originally had 9i client installed.
We installed 10g and ODP .Net to gain use of some new funcionality used in .Net and batch processing.
Halfway through testing we realized that 10g's version of ODP.Net has a memory leak issue.
11g was found to correct this issue so we installed it on the server as well and it solved the problem.
    Life was good.
    9i, 10g, 11g, and ODP.net were all working well.
However, this was a test server. We now needed to go through the same installs for the production server.
On the night of the software install someone made a mistake and installed 10g on the test server again for the second time, after 11g was already installed.
So at this point the test server has:
    9i
    10g
    11g
    10g
And now many of the applications on the server are not working correctly and no amount of config changes seemed to fix it.
So we decided to uninstall 11g and then 10g and start over.
At this point we have 9i and 10g installed and the applications are working correctly.
We have tried to reinstall 11g and configure multiple times and 11g will simply not work.
I am stumped at this point. The application that actually does use 11g and ODP.Net simply stops executing at the point it attempts to open a connection with NO ERRORS.
An Exception does occur but there are no contents or error messages in the exception. I have never had this happen before. How do you fix an error you dont have?
So at this point I am just reaching out to see if anyone might have a suggestion. The next step might be to perform a system restore to the point where life was good (before 10g was installed a 2nd time after 11g).
    Anyone?

    Thanks gdarling.
I was hoping to just start the thread and go from there as sometimes information overload makes people pass on reading the whole post. I am glad you still read it:)
To start off with here are the entries (unedited in my PATH variable):
    E:\oracle11\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin;E:\oracle102\product\10.2.0\client_1\bin;E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1;E:\Orant9i\bin;
I recently moved the 9i path back to the front in order to get the other applications on the server working again as some were erroring out with this when 11.2 was first:
*"OCIEnvCreate failed with return code -1 but error message text was not available"*
I searched for a long time as to the cause of this error but did not turn up much. Most of the posts just mention that the client was installed incorrectly.
    Policy files:
I compared the assembly of the "working" server to the "bad" server and they appear identical as far as I can see.
    Directories
    -9i has one directory
-As you can probably see from the path, it still looks like there are 2 installations of 10g on the server. As well as remnants of three directories that resemble 10g install directories.
    -11g has one directory
    Couple observed behaviors:
    1.
running sqlplus from the 9i and 10g directories works.
running sqlplus from the 11g directory results in the following error:
    E:\oracle11\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin>sqlplus.exe
    Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus
SP2-0667: Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found
SP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory
    2.
Running tnsping works from the 9i and 10g directories
Running tnsping from 11g results in this:
TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 11.2.0.1.0 - Production on 13-MAY-2
    010 09:32:32
Copyright (c) 1997, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
Message 3511 not found; No message file for product=NETWORK, facility=TNSTNS-035
05: Message 3505 not found; No message file for product=NETWORK, facility=TNS
*(NOTE: THIS ERROR ALSO OCCURS ON THE "GOOD" SERVER)*
    Registry:
There is a difference in the registry.
The "good" server has this entry in the ORACLE area:
    KEY_OraClient10g_home1
    KEY_OraClient11g_home1
where as the "bad" just has
    KEY_OraClient10g_home1
Both servers have ODP.Net folder containing:
    2.112.1.0
There are also other entires in this registry area but they are the same.
It wasn't our original intention to have all three clients on the same machine. Halfway through our system testing of a new process we realized the 10g has a memory leak which was corrected in 11g.
So we just installed 11g. These are supposed to be able to coexist right?
It sounds like we could have just installed 11g...
I am going to look into your suggestions.
As far as sysinternals I am a novice. And I am assuming it would need to be loaded on the server...is that correct? Or should I be using it on my local machine with the application in question running?
Getting more software (sysinternals) installed on the server might be a hurdle...
    Thanks again
