Oracle VM Manager 3.1.1, resume FTP download

Hi guys
I was downloading E-Business Suite DB template 12.1.3 template (257Gb!!!) into repository from local ftp server. The FTP server crashed while 70.5% download was done (after 11 hours). Does Oracle support ftp resume download through VM Manager
Regards,
raj

As far as I know no, upload resume is not supported by VM Manager.
When connection is interrupted VM Manager returns the upload job as correctly completed. This result in an incomplete file under /OVS/Repository/REPOS_ID/Templates/FILE_PARTIALLY_UPLOADED
I think the only way is to delete the previsouly uploaded template from repository tab in VM Manager, then reimport it again.
Greets!!Indeed! Thats what I did, prior restarting the download. Man, Oracle must have some mechanisms to resume downloads, especially while the templates are huge like 250+Gbs. Now with the current download rate, I am going to spend one more day to download the archive and then minimum another day to extract the files :O
Thanks 897966
Greetings

    Dear Avi Miller,
I have successfully installed both of servers (VM Server 3.0.2 & VM Manager 3.0.2) as below
+ VM Server 3.0.2 on Dell PowerEdge 1950
+ VM Manager 3.0.2 in OEL 6.1 on Sun Fire X4100M2 Server
Refer to Oracle VM Server 3.0 Document, they recommend to do Discover Oracle VM Servers to VM Manager first of all step then do anything else like Creating a Server Pool so I try to do Discover Oracle VM Servers in many times but still not success.
What I try to do Discover Oracle Servers as below:
After I install both already I start to Discover Oracle VM quickly
    1. Log into Oracle VM Manager
    2. Select the Hardware view.
    3. Select Discover from the Actions menu. The Discover Servers dialog box is displayed.
    4. Enter information about the Oracle VM Server(s) to be discovered.
    5. Specify an IP Address (or rang): IP_of VM Server and Click Add
    6. Put password of VM Server Agent
    7. Click OK
Wait a minute the Status of VM Manager show fail and when I click Detail it show as below:

  • Oracle Learning Management - tracking

    Good Morning All,
I have content, I have an LMS (Oracle Learning Management),
I've published with the SCORM options in Cap 3. I have changed the
.xsd files to the Oracle specific files. I can launch the course
through OLM. I can see data in the Suspend_data field.
I expose my ignorance here - is it possible to report on the
data in the suspend_data field given that the majority of it is not
    in clear text?
The issue I face is that another team has generated content
using Dreamweaver and have custom built their reporting to put
plain text in the suspend data field. This plain text has caused me
no end of grief because I am being told that my data 'must' be
wrong because it is in some kind of 'garbage' code.
I am at the limit of my experience and knowledge in
troubleshooting this issue. Any help that can be provided will be
    greatly appreciated.
    Thank You in advance,
    Norm

    Norm,
    I *think* I understand now...
You have added questions (also known as interactions) into
    Captivate
content. As the learner navigates through the content
    (through an LMS) the
overall course data is being sent to the LMS (such as status
    and score) but
the interaction-level data is not. You (and your DBA) have
    noticed the
interaction data is being stored in the "suspend_data" field
    AND that when
you resume the Captivate file remembers how the learner
    answered the
    questions already viewed...
    Is this accurate?
The key is the "interaction" data. If you want to receive
    interaction data
in the LMS, you need to enable it in two distinct locations:
    - Quiz Manager
    - Each individual question
In the Quiz Manager, make sure the reporting level is set to:
    "Interactions
and score". This will send interaction data to the LMS
    (either
putInteractions for the AICC standard or cmi.interactions for
    SCORM) for
each question that has "include in quiz" checked.
The reason it's stored in the "suspend_data" is because the
    LMS standards
don't have a "getInteractions" or related call for SCORM. If
    content such
as Captivate wants to remember how learners answered
    individual questions in
previous sessions - it *needs* to store it in the
    suspend_data field.

    Andrew

  • Oracle Wallet manager error

    Hi all,
Inorder to test SSL, i created a certificate request in OWM.Then i got a trial certificate from verisign for this request. What should i do now ? I tried to import that certificate in Oracle Wallet manager but getting this error.
    "Trusted Certificate Installation Failed.
Input was not a valid certificate".
    Please guide me
    Srini

    belw is the note
    PURPOSE
To list the steps needed to configure Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) to use the Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) when installed with Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS)
Release 2 (9.0.2). The below instructions show, step by step, instructions for
obtaining a trial certificate from a Certificate Authority, such as Verisign or
Thawte. Please refer to the Oracle 9iAS Documentation for further details.
    SCOPE AND APPLICATION
    Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS) Release 2 (9.0.2 and above)
Configuring SSL with Oracle HTTP Server in 9iAS Release 2
There are two major steps needed to configure SSL in 9iAS:
    I. Create an Oracle Wallet which contains an SSL Certificate
II. Configure httpd.conf directives to enable SSL with OHS
    NOTE:
Only standard server certificates are supported. These are sometimes referred
to as "40-bit Certificates", but will allow 128-bit encryption provided the
browser supports 128-bit encryption. 9iAS Release 2 does not support Global
Server Certificates, called "128-bit Certificates", that allow 56-bit export
browsers to step up to 128-bit.
STEP I: Configuring Oracle Wallet Manager (OWM)
    1. Start Oracle Wallet Manager from the 9iAS $ORACLE_HOME.
Note: If you wish to use AutoLogin features you must start OWM as the user
who owns the httpd parent process.
    To start Oracle Wallet Manager:
    On Windows: select Start > Programs > Oracle - ORACLE_HOME >
Integrated Management Tools > Wallet Manager
On UNIX: enter owm at the command line.
    2. Create an Oracle Wallet which contains an SSL Certificate:
    - Select Wallet -> New
    - Enter a password for the wallet e.g Welcome1
    - Create a Certificate Request.
    - Enter the details for the request. For example:
         Common Name:          <hostname.domainname>
    Organizational Unit:      Support
    Organization:      Oracle
         Location:          Reading
         State:               Berkshire
         Country:          United Kingdom
         Key Size:          1024bits
    * Common Name has to match the hostname.domainname that the webserver is
known as. This is the Servername parameter in the httpd.conf file, and
is the hostname.domainname that users will enter in the browser URL.
    - Click OK.
    - Click 'Certificate:[Requested]' and select from the Menu 'Operations' and
    'Export Certificate Request'
    - Save to a file e.g server.csr
    - Open the file in a text editor and copy the contents of the certificate
signing request, to be pasted in a Certificate Authority (Verisign) form.
    An example is shown below:
    -----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----

    - Copy the certificate to a file called server.crt
    - Get the Trusted CA Root certificate by accessing:
    https://www.thawte.com/roots/index.html
    - Copy the certificate that appears on the screen to a file called
    servertest.crt
    - Ftp or move the files to a directory on your server
    - In Wallet Manager select Operations -> Import User Certificate.
    - It will then ask you if you want to Paste the certificate or load
from a file. Choose 'Select a file that contains a certificate'.
    - Select the file server.crt and hit OK.
    - At this point, the Wallet Manager may complain that the Trusted CA Root
Certificate does not exist in the wallet. It will ask if you want to
import it now. Select Yes. See Below
    - Select 'Select a file that contains a certificate' and select the
    servertest.crt file.
    - If this completes successfully you should see Certificate:[Ready] and the
Thawte Test CA Root will appear in the list of trusted certificates.
    - If you desire Oracle HTTP Server to AutoLogin to the Wallet, then select
AutoLogin. (Wallet Manager must have been started as the owner of the
httpd parent process for this to work).
    - From the menu, File -> Save
Save the Wallet in a directory where the 9iAS user has permission to access
    * If you generated your test certificate via www.verisign.com there is an additional
step required if OWM is not accepting the Trusted CA Root Certificate. The step is
    as follows:
In OWM, at the point of message "User certificate import has failed because the
CA certificate does not exist". You are expected to import the CA certificate.
For Verisign, that would be the 'Test CA Root' for the Trial version. Verisign's
email has instructions on how to download the Test CA Root. One problem with the
Test CA Root is that it is saved as DER encoding, but OWM expects BASE64 encoding.
Please do following, using Internet Explorer 5.X as example.
    1. Following Verisign instructions and install Test CA Root
    certification into IE.
    2. Export 'Test CA Root' from IE in BASE64 format
Tools -> Internet Options -> Contents -> Certificates
    -> Trusted Root Certificate Authorities
Select CA issued by Versign with following Description in 'Issued to' column
"For Versign authorized testing only ....."
    Export -> Next -> select Base-64 encoded X.509(.cer)
The file saved must me accessible to OWM
    3. When prompted to load 'CA certificate ', provide the Base64 encoded file.
Then, continue where you left off when OWM did not accept your Trusted CA
    Root Certificate.
STEP II: Configuring Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
Please review the default directives in the httpd.conf file that relate to SSL by
opening the file in a text editor and search on "SSL". If you have not already
done so, please make a back up of this file. Do NOT hand edit this file without reading
the precautions in the 9iAS Documentation. You should use the Enterprise Manager (EM)
Website to modify this file. For SSL to work, the SSL 'listen' port must match the
"VirtualHost _default_" directive within the file. All other SSL parameters are
set to the default, and you can modify at a later time, depending on your needs.
    ## SSL Support
    Listen 80
    Listen 443
#443 is the SSL port number.
    ##Further down in file:
    <VirtualHost default:443>
For the purposes of a basic SSL configuration, you should only need to
    change the following directives:
    SSLWallet
    SSLWalletPassword
    - Change the SSLWallet directive to the path where you saved your wallet, i.e:
    SSLWallet file:/tmp/wallets
    - If you get an error, ADMN-906025 with exception 806212, when starting OHS
after modifying httpd.conf, it is because you need to supply this password.
You may also see errors such as the following:
Error Failed to restart HTTP Server.
Timeout has been reached. Timeout has been reached.
If you did not select AutoLogin, then you need to change the SSLWalletPassword
to your clear text Wallet password by adding the following into your httpd.conf
    SSLWalletPassword <yourPassword>
    - If you wish to encrypt the SSLWalletPassword refer to the following:
    [NOTE:184677.1]
How to Use IASOBF to Encrpyt a Wallet Password Within 9iAS Release 2
    - Save the configuration, and restart Oracle HTTP Server
    - Test a URL to Oracle HTTP Server in SSL mode:
    https://<hostname.domainname>:<port>

  • Creation of PO's from Oracle Order Management

    Required Business Scenario
Customer orders are received via the internet and imported into Oracle Order Management via an open interface table. The customer orders are processed by Oracle OM and converted to Purchase Orders which are then sent to suppliers (as no stock is held at our site). Goods are then shipped directly to the customer by the supplier. We take a commission for the service offered.
    Problem
As we take a commission for the service described above, the value of the Purchase Order will be different to the value of the original order received via Order Management, however Oracle Purchasing does not allow you to place a Purchase Order on a percentage basis terms. (we will take a small commission as a percentage of the value of the original order meaning the value of the Purchase Order will be slightly less than the value of the original order). The following scenario attempts to explain the situation:
Order received via Oracle Order Management
    5 units @ $20 = $100
Purchase Order created from above order (required scenario)
    5 units @ $19.70 = $ 98.5
    Our commission @ 1.5% = $ 1.5
Has anyone encountered this scenario before? If so I would appreciate assistance in how to resolve this issue. How can we create a Purchase Order from the order received via Order Management which will have a different value and allows us to take a percentage as commission?
    Thanks

  • Confusion with a current state of Oracle Identity Management

I would like to know if anyone has successfully implemented the complete suite of IdM. If yes, please share this experience. I want to clarify the definition of "successful integration". It should include the following:
    - SSO for Partner applications
    - SSO for External (third parties) applications
    - Provisioning and Synchronization
    - Delegated Administration
    - WNA with Kerberos
    - SAML implementation (optional)
I would appreciate all answers on this subject

To restart from your initial question, it's quite strange because the components you mention are all included in the AS10g Enterprise Edition or in AS10g Portal, and are perfectly integrated. I know numerous customers which use Oracle Portal, for instance, and leverage on SSO (patner or external), Delegated Administration (DAS) , Synchro with AD server and Windows native authentication, without a single line of specific code. Provisioning is done automatically by DIP in the case of Portal with AD, as well, or with a Human resource system. Even the password synchro can be made betwwen AD and OID (Oracle LDAP)
Now, it's a sligthy different discussion if we consider the recent acquisitions made by Oracle, and which are sold in the so call : Oracle Identity management 10g.
OAM (previously Oblix) is a more ambitious product that Oracle SSO.
OIM (provisioning and identity management) is far more sophisticated than Oracle DIP.
The goal, for Oracle, is to unify the workflow engine and the Human interface (with ADF). This task is probably on the rails for the next year.
OVD (previously OctetSting) is an architectural component which allow virtualisation of LDAP server.
About Federation, OIF allow all existing Oracle Portal customer (using SSO) to rely on SAML tokens in order to trust partners site.
So, in my opinion, acquisitions oblige to make a substantial effort to unify human interface and make arbitration between some concepts, but it's within the Oracle means.

  • Problem with console in Oracle VM Manager

I have installed Oracle VM 3.0.3 and Oracle VM Manager 3.0.3 is install on Oracle LINUX 5.6. I cannot get the console to work from either the Oracle VM Manager server itself using firefox or remotely from Windows running IE or Chrome. After looking at version posts I have installed tightvnc-java-1.3.9 and ovm-console-1.0.0. The symptoms are different locally and remotely. First locally on the OVM Manager server with firefox. I click on console and a pop up asks if I want to run ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp click OK and things go crazy, multiple tabs open and keeps going until I kill firefox or the server runs out of resources. On the remote PC I click console and things just hang and nothing happens. Checked firewall settings, iptables is not running, I can telnet to port 15901.
    Any ideas
    Richard

    maybe this will help
local ( oracle vm manager )
ovm_rasproxy-ws.jnlp --> need open by javaws . search the javaws path . or maybe you can install sun java version 7 1st . remote pc
need install realvnc and java jre ( try install java version 7 )
version 3.0.3 - for IE need IE 9 and above.

Assuming an agent is running on the servers you want to monitor,
navigate to the Agent home page (Via setup --> Agent)
When in the agent home page select 'Add Database'and press [Go]
Assuming yopur database now gets recognized, select the Configure icon and enter the password for dbsnmp.

  • How to configure Oracle Configuration Manager in R12.0.4

    Dear
I need to configure oracle configuration manager for my running R12.0.4 instance on single node setup.Whenever i try update my metalink credentials in oracle application manager dashboard,it says userid or password is wrong. While installation i skip the OCM screen. How can i configure it now either using Universal installer or comand line? Need all steps for setup?
Do i need to download & install OCM client or is it already shipped with software & needs just configuration setup?
    Help me!
    Regards

    Ateeq,
Running AutoConfig should populate profile options with the correct values. However, you can check the values after running AutoConfig to verify it.
According to metalink document id, this Applications Server-Side Proxy Host And Domain profile needs to changed. Document id, will mention later.I forgot.Below are the notes:
Note: 297689.1 - Unable to update MetaLink credentials from OAM

Note: 308369.1 - Unable to Connect to MetaLink from OAM After Updating MetaLink Credentials
