Could you please help someone, how to configure and monitor Oracle VM using OEM.

Hi vdosi,
Thanks for ur promy reply....

it telling "You are not yet licensed to use the Oracle VM Management Pack. If you like this functionality, please see your super administrator about obtaining a license"
In our Oracle VM server, we are created Two Guest server (Windows 2003, RHEL 4)..Now we need to monitor Oracle VM and two guest servers....How can do this...if it possible...can u send me the document......please help me on this.....

  • Oracle database monitored using SNMP

    Hi guys,
I have a problem that I can't seem to find the answer too...I tried google-ing, but found only pieces, and can't seem to figure out the big picture...So here goes:
I am working with my team on a Data Warehouse project, and the entire app is written in PL/SQL and SQL code, running in an Oracle DB. Now, the PO wants to have SNMP monitoring, and in the last few days I looked into how can I achieve this (please note that I have little experience with Oracle, know about SNMP for like 2 days...and I am not sure even if I am posting in the right forum)...
So after searching online, for an Agent for Oracle i found this website : http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/agentsoft-090381.html ..and I think this is what i need....(can anyone confirm this???)
Anyway after downloading, and reading the instructions I choose to try the so called *2. Silent installation of the agent* and below are the instructions...
For silent installation using the extracted agent download zip file, copy the <UNZIPDIR>\windows_x64\response\additional_agent.rsp file to a location on the local machine and modify the Value Unspecified entries accordingly. Invoke the setup.exe by executing:
    +<UNZIP_DIR>\windows_x64\agent\setup.exe -silent -responseFile <location>\additional_agent.rsp+
So then I started editing the file additional_agent.rsp and everything was going well until I reached the following part:
#OMS_HOST:<String> OMS host info required to connect to OMS
#OMS_PORT:<String> OMS port info required to connect to OMS
#AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD:<String> Agent Registration Password needed to
    # establish a secure connection to the OMS.
    OMS_HOST=-----
    OMS_PORT=----
    AGENT_REGISTRATION_PASSWORD=----
I have no idea what to put in the OMS_HOST and OMS_PORT fields...What do they refer to?
Other mentions Oracle DB is 11.2.0..OS is Windows 7
    Thanks for reading/help :)

So I talked more with the PO...and the thing is our product is just a small part of a much bigger product...he said : *"we do not need the Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring; we are going to use a third-party SNMP management software... The Oracle SNMP agent will report to a third-party SNMP management software (e.g. Nagios or similar). "*
    My questions are :
Can you install the Oracle Management Service without the Oracle Enterprise Manager? ...if not then :
Can you run the Oracle Enterprise Manager with Oracle Standard Edition?
I will search more on google for answers for these questions...and if I find them i'll post them here...Or maybe someone if faster and knows the answers..so he will post them :)

  • Schedule Disoverer reports Using OEM

    Hi All
Has anyone scheduled Oracle Discoverer reports using OEM ?
    Thanks
    Diwakar

Are you using OEM 9i or 10g GC?
Statistics gathering is done in a different way depending on which platform you are on. However, when you submit a job to do anything including stats gathering, the job is scheduled by OEM and sent to the agent. So, you can close your "client" because it's not doing anything. The job has been submitted and will run as scheduled.

  • Use OEM to monitor oracle database size

    Hello All,
We currently have several database which are currently monitored via OEM however i will appreciate if anyone can tell me how i can monitor the the size of my oracle databases via oem
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm not sure of OEM will monitor database size, but many 3rd party tools do.
There are many ways to achieve Oracle table monitoring, and many create specialized extension metadata tables to monitor Oracle table growth. In Oracle 10g you can perform Oracle tables monitoring with the dba_hist_seg_stat tables, specifically the space_used_total column.
On my databases, I create STATSPACK extension tables to track table and overall database growth:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/te_table_monitoring.htm
The full scripts are in my Oracle Press book, Oracle tuning with STATSPACK . . .

As part of the Service Monitoring for our OFM-OUCM environment, we have implemented OEM 11g R1. We are able to monitor SOA 10.1.3.5, IDM 10.1.4.0.1 & the databases. But the 11g Agent wasnt able to discover the targets for WCI 10.3.0 & UCM 10.1.3.5. Is there a way to monitor UCM 10gR3 & WCI 10.3 using OEM 11g R1 or do we need to downgrade the OEM version.
We are able to see the WCI Products in the Hosts -> Configuration tab in OEM. But we are not able to monitor these as targets.

  • Rediscover using OEM in Oracle 10.2.0.4

    Hi,
Can somebody post detailed steps as to how to rediscover using OEM. (I have performed at the session level)
My system is Oracle 10.2.0.4 RAC on RHEL.
Example: Steps to rediscover an instance (or) agent (or) listener using OEM.
To put it in simple terms...mys listener is showing DOWN status in OEM, but is actually UP when I go in and check at the session level.
I do not want to restart the agent at the sesion level which I have already done. Kindly help.
Edited by: Redstorm on Feb 24, 2009 7:09 PM

Do you have a lot of jobs scheduled via OEM ? (you can save the definitions in the job library and re-submit them later if not. You may also have to reset the backup preferences etc.)
This seems strange. Is there an error message with the listener status (click on the Down targets from the homepage.)
Also can you provide the output from the agent status.
    cheers,

  • Using OEM to monitor Data Guard database

Can someone please send me the link or docs of how to use OEM monitoring data guard? In specific, I would like to use OEM to monitor and be sure logs are applying to stand by site.
    Any ideas?

    Hello ,
I will extend the document on the Fast Failover feature one of these days.
What you need to do is:
For using Fast Failover, you need to configure the Data Guard observer process.
The configuration of this process can be done by selecting the Fast-Start Failover Disabled link on the Data Guard page of the database (Primary or Standby).
You will be automatically redirected to the Fast-Start Failover: Configure Page.
From this page you can do the configuration of the DG observer process, that then will enable you to activate the Fast Failover feature.

  • Backup Failure using OEM (Oracle 9i)

    Backup Failure using OEM
    I have oracle 9i (windows 2000 server)
I tried to make a fullbackup using OEM, it gives me NO error messages
I got result file with 890 MB (my Db is not huge),
but when I go back to the JOBs in OEM I found the status of the job FAILED
I tried to do the same thing using incremental backup level 0, but I got the same result
any Idea why the job didn't complete successfully
    thanx in advance

    Here is the deal.
I need to be able to work in the OEM for my class. (Oracle DBA in Training) It is a significant part of my grade to be able to find the required help through forums like these to help me get the backup/recovery process to work through the OEM. My books deal with the OEM in a Win2000 Pro/Server environment, and don't take into consideration the variances in XP Pro. My install works great, other than I am receiving a "Fail" on my OEM Backups under Jobs. It further explains that I do not have the proper permissions to perform the backup job that was created. My instructor is completely hands off when it comes to help. So if anyone has run into this problem and been successful in fixing the problem without using a different utility. Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vic

  • How i use OEM 12c to monitor Microsoft Active directory.

    Hi,
How i use OEM 12c to monitor Microsoft Active directory. Please assist me on this.
    Thanks,
    Sagar

    Hi,
The fundamental problem with this scenario is that you have non-failover capable modules in a failover chassis - think of the ASA failover pair as one device and the IPS modules as two completely separate devices.
Then, as already mentioned, add only the primary ASA. (The secondary will never be passing traffic in standby mode so it's not actually needed in MARS) Then, with the first IPS module you can add it as a module of the ASA or as a standalone device (MARS doesn't care). With the second IPS module the only option is to add it as a separate device anyway.
In a failover scenario the ASA's swap IP's but the IPS's don't so whereas you'll only ever get messages from the active ASA you'll get messages from both IPS IP's depending on which one happens to be in the active ASA at the time.
Don't forget that you have to manually replicate all IPS configuration every time you make a change.
    HTH
    Andrew.

Did someone saw that feature actually working? I only saw it in the OOW Demo.
I am getting the error both in Windows and Linux installations. Any idea why this error happen and how to overcome it?

    Hi Merav
    select version from v$timezone_file;

If you get 4 from that query use MetaLink Note 568125.1.
Have you installed Database Vault ? that might be related to your issue.
Can you please send us more details on the error?
Would you please investigate also :
-STATISTICS_LEVEL initialization parameter is either set to ALL or TYPICAL (the default value)
-CONTROL_MANAGEMENT_PACK_ACCESS parameter must be set to DIAGNOSTIC+TUNING (the default value)
    Control also that :

  • Process monitoring from OEM

Can u send me link or steps to configure process monitoring from OEM.
Requirement : There is some batch job which is executing continiously, but if particular process( Batch process) is down thwn owner will get alert with corrective action ( that means it will UP the batch JOB)
So can u help, how to do this....... Please help asap.

    Hallo,
I think what you want to do requires some knowledge in enterprise manager extensibility, plug-in development in particular.
Have a look at the [Official EM Extensibility Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/em.102/b40007.pdf] and learn how to create a monitoring plug-in for your batch process.
Then see point 12.3.10 to define a FixitJob. That is a task that is executed if a warning or critical alert is raised - so in your case when the batch process is down.
An easier but not that powerful way would be to use User Defined Metrics and define a corrective action as described here
    Hope that helps a little.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Monitoring Used (%) space for tablespaces

    Hi everyone,
    I am currently using:
Redhat Linux ES 5 2.6.18 and also
    Oracle 10g Release 2 for Linux x86 R10.2.0.3
While monitoring my Tablespaces using OEM Database Control, I notice that two tablespaces were almost full.
    [SYSAUX] - Size: 290MB , Used 283MB (97% full)
    [SYSTEM] - Size: 320MB, Used 313MB (98% full)
When I try to locate the datafiles of both tablespaces in its directory (/home/dba/oracle/oradata/oracle), it shows the allocated size (290MB for sysaux01.dbf & 320MB for system01.dbf) and not the used space.
I got three questions to ask over here:
1st- Why there isn't any warnings or alarms even though the tablespaces exceeds the critical size?
2nd- How come the datafiles shows the allocated size of the tablespaces and not the Used space?]
3rd- How can I find & monitor the actual used space of the tablespaces?
4th- I have enabled the AutoExtend function but I am worry whether is there any other concern?
I am still very new here.
Please pardon me for anything that is improper.
Looking forward for your expertise, guidance & help.
    Thanks for your attention.
