Also, there is no graphical user interface for Oracle VM Server: it is a text-only machine.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g R2 32bit installation on RHEL 5.4 64 bit

    Hi !
    Is it possible to install 32 bit Oracle Application Server 10g R2 on 64 bit RHEL 5.4?
    Is there some spacial care I need to take to do this?
    Regards,
    GC

    May be possible but it is probably not tested by Oracle nor is it supported as error correction support for OAS 10g has finished more than a year ago.
    A good starting point is My Oracle Support Note [url https://support.oracle.com/CSP/main/article?cmd=show&type=NOT&id=564174.1]564174.1, "Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2) Installation Requirements for Linux OEL 5 and RHEL 5". Make sure that you always use a 32-bit emulated shell (linux32 bash).

  • Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 installation issue

    I'm having an issue installing Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 on an HP desktop PC for testing purposes.
    When I boot off the CD and press 'Enter' to begin the installation, the system hangs after what appears to be probing the PCI hardware:
    PCI: If a device doesn't work, try "pci=routeirq"...
    I've tried passing several kernal paramters, such as acpi=off pci=nomsi ignore_loglevel initcall_debug
    With the initcall_debug on the last line is:
    Calling initcall 0xc0704a2c: pcibios_init+0x0/0x78()
    I've tried disabling several things in the BIOS, e.g. extra PCI options, using IDE emulation for SATA etc.
    I can install Oracle Enterprise Linux release 5 on the same PC, so I'm wondering what the difference is.
    Any ideas?
    It's a fairly typical workstaion - HP 8200 with Intel i7, 8GB of memory, 500GB SATA drive, onboard graphics.

    Hi all,
    I've found a solution to this problem. So far I've been trying the installation through MSTSC by taking administrative control (through /console option). Later, I tried my luck by installing it through Net Meeting which proved to be successful.
    Hope you can try the same and ged rid of the installation issues.

  • Peoplesoft 9.2 Application and Tools 8.54 installation on Virtual Box Linux - Error

    I am trying to install Peoplesoft Demo database for Tools 8.54 with Application Fin 9.2, when i run the database setup to creat the script i get a file called fin92dmoora.dms, my question is does this file contain all the tables neccesary for tools to work, since on my first install i got many errors and many tools tables were missing, i could not see any records in the application designer, and when i logged into from PIA there was a error saying, Contact your Administrator for security, looks like peoplecode was missing too from my list in the Application designer.
    There were no errors when i ran the dms scripts to import table from fin92dmoora.dms.
    Can someone please comment what am i doing wrong here.

    It all depends of how you setup the database creation. If you installed a Financial Demo 9.2 database, everything should be installed, Peopletools and applications tables. If not, then you may have several issues.
    The dms should have (at least) two import cmd, one for tools, one for appl and others for language if you selected it.
    Furthermore, within PTools 8.54, you may choose which accessid, which psappsrv, which connectid you want to work with, and if you want to open it with specific password. Most often, VP1 is used for FSCM, especially for demo.
    Lastly and not least, which Peopletools path version are you working on ? You may have a discrepency between your client PTools version (including psadmin) and the one from database, it could raise a lot of errors. Check the database table PSSTATUS and compare with your client (including psadmin), both should be aligned. Check also the APPSRV.LOG file, you probably can find more informations about your errors.

  • Does the installation of virtual box harms the MacBook

    I am an IT student and I am about to download Ubuntu in my Mac. According to the research I have done I found that a virtual box should be downloaded to run Ubuntu (Please correct me if I am wrong). Does this make my mac run slow? Are there any other ways to use Ubuntu in my mac. Please help me cause I am having a rush time.

    It shouldn't harm the MBPr, but you should make a complete backup before proceeding.

  • Oracle VM Server Installation Issues

    The Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 installation hangs after I pick US keyboard and does nothing after. I’ve tried other options including an old version of VM Server and I receive an error that states "isw: untested metadata version 1.2.04 found on /dev/sda", although the installation hangs in the same place. I’m not sure what the issue is and need some help.
    Also, just as a test, I installed Oracle Enterprise Linux R5-U5-Server on the hardware without any issues. I see everything, and it is a nice OS.
    Hardware details:
    I had Fry’s build a U4 server.
    Six 300 GB 10k rpm SATA on a raid 5 stripe
    Two 1.8 TB 7200 rpm SATA on a raid 0 mirror

    In order to get your HDs detected you will need to create a driver disk. Check this link out so you can create one.
    http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-8.0-Manual/install-guide/ch-driverdisk.html
    What the driver disk will do is load the driver disk image you need, and once you do that it should auto detect your drives.
    This should at least get you headed in the right direction :)
    Of course steps before creating the driver disk you will need to find out what driver you require and get a driver disk image of that driver to load to your bootable floppy/usb. In the example page they use a floppy, but any bootable media will work.
    Good luck,
    Roger.

  • How to install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 as 32-bit mode on a 64-bit machine.

    Gurus,
    If I am not wrong, the Oracle VM Server 2.2.0 installer for 32-bit and 64-bit are the same file.
    I have AMD 64 bit machine, when I install Oracle VM Server 2.2.0, it installs as 64-bit.
    However due to requirement, I want to install Oracle VM Server in 32-bit mode.
    Will appreciate the steps.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Krishna,
    Please note that the zip file from the Oracle eDelivery/Linux site contains a single Oracle VM server ISO file; this file is used for both x86 and x86-64 hardware. The Oracle VM server install routine automatically detects the hardware platform and installs the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit Xen hypervisor. Regardless of the hardware platform, 32-bit or 64-bit, dom0 is 32-bit. Will a 32bit dom0 meet your business requirements?
    Could you please let us know the business requirements re 32bit?
    For details about the installation, sizing and server resource requirements please review http://itnewscast.com/chapter-4-oracle-vm-server-sizing-installation-and-updates

  • How to Create an Oracle BAM Server Connection?

    I m following the steps at the end of this post to create the connection but at the end I m getting this message from JDev:
    {Unable to write to
    /C:/JDeveloper/mywork/Application1/.adf/META-INF/connections.xml

    it creates the directory C:/JDeveloper/mywork/Application1/.adf/META-INF/ with only a adf-config.xml file but NOT the connections.xml any one knows what is wrong?
    Bellow is the stpes I m following. Its exactly what is written at the Oracle Fusion Middleware Developer´s guide for Oracle SOA Suite 11g Release 1(11.1.1) E10224-01
    To create an Oracle BAM connection:
    1. Select New from the File main menu in Oracle JDeveloper.
    The New Gallery dialog opens.
    2. Choose Connections from the General category.
    3. Select BAM Connection in the Items list, and click OK.
    The BAM Connection wizard opens.
    4. Provide a name for the connection. Leave the Create Connection In selection as
    Application Resources.
    5. Click Next.
    6. Enter the following connection information about the Oracle BAM instance.
    7. Click Next.
    8. Test the connection by clicking Test Connection. If the connection was successful,
    the following message appears:
    Passed.
    9. Click Finish.
    Note: You can create connections to Oracle BAM in the Oracle
    JDeveloper Resource Palette as well as the Application Resources
    panel of a specific application. It is recommended that you create these
    connections in the Application Resources pane rather than the
    Resource Palette.

    Ok that will be nice, but is not the case I dont want to read the tutorial, the problem is I already start to read and execute the tutorial you told me the problem is this tutorial it doesnt show how to do everything from scratch because you already have inside the zip file everything like xmls etc etc, and I want to get my DO and create the process myself, I dont want to get something that it is already done, this tutorial does not show for example how to create this composite.xml, this file it is already inside the zip file, so this way I just follow half of the process and dont learn how to make the whole process.

  • Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 - support for NTFS external drive?

    Hi,
    Another "newbie" question here... we have just installed Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 on a Dell box and now we want to install some Template VM's that we downloaded. The problem is - they are on an external Hard Drive that is an NTFS drive.
    So - when we connect the drive it's detected ok - but we can't mount it as the NTFS filesystem support doesn't appear to be installed as standard?
    If it isn't - how/where do we get NTFS support into the Kernel?
    Any help appreciated.
    Regards,
    Bren

    Hi Bren,
    unfortunately as far as I know native NTFS support is in RHEL/OEL 5.4. And since Oracle VM is based on OEL 5.3 there is no direct support for NTFS.
    However there is an "unofficial" and probably not supported possibility to install FUSE and get NTFS3g to get what you want:
    Point the yum update server to OVS 2.2.1 and OEL 5.3 (on which OVS is based) on public-yum.oracle.com:
    # vi /etc/yum.repos.d/public-yum-el5.repo
    [el5_u3_base]
    name=Enterprise Linux $releasever U3 - $basearch - base
    baseurl=http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/EnterpriseLinux/EL5/3/base/$basearch/
    gpgkey=http://public-yum.oracle.com/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle-el5
    gpgcheck=1
    enabled=1
    [ovm22_2.2.1_base]
    name=OracleVM 2 - 2.2.1 - $basearch - base
    baseurl=http://public-yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleVM/OVM2/2.2.1/base/$basearch/
    gpgkey=http://public-yum.oracle.com/RPM-GPG-KEY-oracle-el5
    gpgcheck=1
    enabled=1
    Then you are able to install gcc compiler, which is needed for FUSE:
    # yum install gcc
    Insert the OVS Server CD or use the OVS repository from public-yum to install the develop kernel:
    # yum install kernel-ovs-devel
    Download the required FUSE packages and NTFS3g:
    http://ntfs-3g.org
    http://fuse.sourceforge.net/
    # wget http://marush.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/ntfs-3g-200944-el5i686.rpm
    # wget http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/fuse/fuse-2.7.4.tar.gz
    Install Fuse:
    # tar -xvzf fuse-2.7.4.tar.gz
    # cd fuse-2.7.4
    # ./configure
    # make
    # make install
    # modprobe fuse
    # cd ..
    Install NTFS3g:
    # rpm -Uvh ntfs-3g-200944-el5i686.rpm
    Then you should be able to mount the ntfs filesystem:
    # mkdir /ntfs
    # echo "/dev/sda3 /ntfs ntfs-3g defaults 0 0" >> /etc/fstab
    # mount -a
    Note however, that this probably is not supported.
    So mounting the drive on a windows computer and copying the files via. pscp might probably be the easier and supported way...
