Oracle VM: Sun server x3-2 with Sun Storage 2540 M2

Hello Everyone!
Currently, we are planning to implement a project about Visualization using Oracle VM.
As the Sun Storage 2540 M2 uses FC channel to share its luns from storage, we are not sure on how to discover those share storage luns to be use in Oracle VM manager and Oracle VM Server.
So, could you please help guide us, give us some recommendations, or instruction documents to the issue above?
Thank so much in advance!
Regard,
Dara

Hmm, server is not (auto?)discovered
though machines can see each other via network, all ports are opened, but agent still reports

I concur with Matthew.  The release notes for sun cluster and oracle for solaris might tell you.  oracle 9.2.0.8 is out of support on solaris and I recall needing a number of patches to get it to a fit state ... and that is without considering sun cluster.  Extended support for 9.2.0.8 ended about 4 years ago ... this is not a combination I would currently be touching with a bargepole!  You are best to seek on MOS.

  • Integration of Sun One Web Server 6.0 with Sun One App Server 7.0

Is it possible to integrate Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the Sun One App Server 7.0??
Sun One App Server 7.0 comes with the in-built HTTP listener. But we want to know if there is a way by which we can use the Sun One Web Server 6.0 with the App Server 7.0 and not the in-bulit HTTP listener?

As suggested by you, I have used Sun ONE Application Server 7's plugin to connect the Sun ONE Web Server 6.0 with Sun ONE Application Server 7 as per the information given in Sun ONE Application Server 7 Administrator's Guide.
I have added the plugin package to the webserver and added the following into the magnus.conf:
    Init fn="load-modules" shlib="C:/iPlanet/Servers/plugins/passthrough/passthrough.dll" funcs="init-passthrough,auth-passthrough,check-passthrough,service-passthrough" NativeThread="no"
    Init fn="init-passthrough"
    and to the obj.conf
    NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="(/A2P2Test|/A2P2Test/*)" name="passthrough"
    <Object name="passthrough">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"

    Error reason="Bad Gateway" fn="send-error" uri="$docroot/badgateway.html"

The webserver starts up without any errors but never forwards any requests what might I be doing wrong?

  • Is it possible to run sun studio 12 ide with sun studio 8 compiler?

Hi, i am in the process of evaluating sun studio 12. Our company cannot move to sun studio 12 compiler collection right now as it is a huge code base and it will take us few months even before we start using sun studio 12 compiler in our development environment. Is it possible to use sun studio 12 ide with sun studio 8 compiler collection(CC, dbx etc)? Your feedback is appreciated. thank you.

There are two parts to the answer.
    1) whether you can
To choose a compiler set follow Tools->Options->C/C++
and in the BuildTools tab you'll see how it picks up
    compilers from your PATH.
This dialog doesn't govern choice of dbx, which will always
come from the installation. However you can alter which dbx
is used by presetting the environment variable SPRO_DBX_PATH
to teh full pathname of a dbx of your choice.
    2) whether you should
The IDE should work reasonably well with older compilers. They
    are not that tightly bound.
The IDE will not work well enough with an older dbx, especially as
old as studio 8. However, while not officially supported or tested
the SS12 dbx should be reasonably bwd compatible with code
    generated from older compilers.
So my recommendation is: don't use SPRO_DBX_PATH and
give the old compilers a try.

  • How to to make Cluster between two server 2012 Datacenter with share storage and Hyper-V role then install Exchange 2013 on each server datacenter then make DAG between Exchange servers

    Dears,
I have IBM Flex server with built in storage,
HOW to to make Cluster between two  server 2012 Datacenter with share storage and Hyper-V role then install Exchange 2013 on each server datacenter then make DAG between Exchange servers?
If there any prerequisites of the Share storage types ?and any configuration guide to deploy Cluster between two Server 2012 datacenter ?

Microsoft Failover Clusters require shared storage.  If you wish to create a failover cluster with local storage, you need to use third party software to mirror the disks and present it to the hosts (siog.com, datacore.com, starwind.com).  If you
use third party software, you will need to follow their instructions for configuring the environment.
Questions on how to configure Exchange environments are better asked in an Exchange forum.

FYI .. I really want to use Directory Server 5.1 on my Solaris 8 machine, but can't seem to get it even close.

    Followup:
I installed the netscape version of Directory Server and then ran the blueprints script to set it up for native LDAP. I have found a few issues.
1.) I can not log into the console as Directory Manager ... I have to use admin? I think this could be a problem because when it goes to set the permissions for proxyagent, I think it uses the Directory Manager login so when I go to see the permissions it created, I don't see that entry. When I go to create one, it gives me: insuffcient 'write' priveledge to the 'aci' attribute of entry.
2.) I can not generate a profile and use ldapadd to add it, I get the following errors:
    ldap_gen_profile -P default -b dc=mydomain,dc=com -D \ "cn=Proxyagent,ou=profile,dc=mydomain,dc=com" -w password \ -a simple xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx > default.ldif
Once that is done, you will have to edit the file and take out all the whitespace at the beginning of every line due to a bug. Once you are ready to add the profile, just run:
    ldapadd -D "cn=Directory Manager" -w password -h ldapserver \ -p 389 -f default.ldif
I ran the steps above (substituting correct entries) and when I do the ldapadd -D command, I get the following error:
adding new entry cn=default,ou=profile,dc=carfund,dc=com ldap_add_s: Object class violation
3.) If I try to use ldapclient -v -P command on a client machine, I get the following errors:
    /usr/sbin/ldapclient -v -P "Solaris Native" ###.##.###.###
    parsing -P option
    findDN: begins

Looks like the attribute sunIdentityServerDiscoEntries is defined twice in the schema. Run the following and see where it is defined for the second time.
    # cd /var/opt/SUNWdsee/dsins1/config/schema
    # grep -w sunIdentityServerDiscoEntries *.ldif | grep -iv objectclasses

  • Oracle RAC on Sun server.

    Hello Oracle RAC gurus,
I have below questions, I would highly appreciate if anyone can answer these.
    1) Is it must to have identical server model and configuartion for Oracle RAC?
    2) I have Sun Fire 280R machine with Sun solaris 10. Can I install Oracle RAC on this
    using Oracle VMWare?
    3) Please let me know below scenario is possible or not,
If I have Oracle Databases(single instances) are running on my Sun server box, can I
use this machine as primary node for Oracle RAC? If this is not possible then
can I use as secondary node?
    Thanks gurus.

For 1: NO, the hardware does not need to be exactly the same. The nodes can be different models, with different CPU speed and different RAM sizes. The only consideration is that they must be the same O/S. This is a hardware vendor issue. They determine which configurations they are willing to support.
For 2: RAC is currently not supported in Oracle VM.
For 3: YES, at first glance you can do this. Note that the RAC database requires a cluster database home. Thus, you would need to install a cluster database home in addition to the Single Instance database home(s). However, this answer does not consider whether or not your node would be capable of hosting another database instance in regards to performance.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I am working on Oracle forms10g ( 10.1.2.0) with Sun JRE6 (Using JRE version 1.6.0_31-b05) which is working fine. the only problem is, when I use edit command, its not working nor show any error. Command I am using (to display the text file in command window) - client_host('cmd edit c:\temp\file_print.txt'); . the same command working fine if I switch to JInitiator (1.3).
    help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

In the [webutil] section of the formsweb.cfg, did you change the baseHTMLjinitiator to point to webutiljpi.htm?
not working nor show any error. Not all errors will be reported through the Forms UI. For java related errors you have to look at the Java Console. Please check the Java Console and post any errors listed there.
the same command working fine if I switch to JInitiator (1.3).This tells me the problem is most likely a configuration issue. Please list what steps you took to congifure your system to use the JRE over the default Oracle Jinitiator.

Log into the global zone and run :
    # shutdown -y -g0 -is
This should bring down the global zone to su mode and halt the other zones (notice Halt)
However I believe there is a bug presently where this does not always happen and you are still able to telnet to the local zones.
Local zone admin could always run zoneadm -z <zone-name> halt on each zone (notice halt not single-user).
Once global zone in in single-user mode install the patch as normal, when the global is done it will bring up each local zone to single-user mode to add the patch too.
118833-36 may need patch add and -G option as this patch also has been experiencing some issues, in which case I believe you would need to do the patch add process on each zone manually
Once the global zone is brought back up again it should bring up the local zones as well.
Let us know if you experience the locals not being halted as mentioned above and need to do it manually.

  • Oracle VM 3 with SUN SERVER X3

    Dear All Experts,
Is it possible to run Oracle VM 3 with SUN SERVER X3 has only 2 hard disks using local storage?
If can, how to do it? please kindly share this experience?

Booting to a USB-thumb-drive won't be a redundant OS mirror but that sounds like a good idea & that would be one way to do it. Solid State USB drives are likely more reliable than HDD but they do also fail (or maybe wear out & become read-only). Worst case you hopefully could just reinstall the OS on a new USB and your data would still be recoverable.
Speaking of adding disks, if the BIOS/MB supports it you may also be able to add a USB-3.0 HDD. USB-2.0 may also be an option but would be slower. For my Dev environment I added multiple USB-3.0 7200rpm 4TB drives and they give me some piece of mind and provide decent performance for backups for my Dev environment (I clone to them to give extra layer of back up).
I don't know if you can mirror 2 USB drives nor have I tried removing them and rotating them but both might be options (haven't though much about nor tried to do either yet).

  • Oracle JDeveloper 10g with Sun Java App server

I have oracle JDeveloeper 10g and sun App Server 8. I want to find out if JDeveloper can create entity beans that can run on Sun app server.
I know that sun app server uses things like sun-cmp-mapping.xml and sun-ejb-jar.xml. If i create these as normal in JDeveloper would they run on sun app server? if not what configuration do i need to do?

Sun Java App Server 8 doesn't ship with the Apache Tomcat jk/jk2 connector. But you can download Tomcat 5 and install it. Copy ${catalina_home}/server/lib/tomcat-jk2.jar under $s1as_home}/lib
Now Sun Java App Server 8 will have the code required. Then you will need to start the jk connector (this is the most difficult task). Since you don't have any API to start this connector to listen (in Tomcat, the connector is started by default and listen on port 8009), the only way for you to start it is to use JMX. Pick one of the available JMX client ( jmx-ri is a good candidate), and do:
    (1) create the connector
    (2) start the connector
Then follow the Jakarta Tomcat instruction on how to install Apache and JK2.
I didn't spend the time to find the exact command for JMX, but technically it should work. Once I have time I will take a look (The Tomcat 5 Admin Gui uses JMX, so by browing the code you should find the exact JMX command)
    Hope that help.
