Oracle Web services and J2EE 1.4

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if the Oracle Web services generated by Jdeveloper from a Java Class is compliant to the specification: Web services J2EE1.4 (JSR 109) ?
Thanks,
Best Regards,

In JDeveloper 10.1.3 the J2EE 1.4 (JAX/RPC) Web Services are.

  • J2EE Web services and JAX-RPC

    Hello..
While working with J2EE web services using JDeveloper and OC4J, I noticed that it really doesn't confirm to Sun's JAX-RPC standard. The Web Service interface class does not extend the "Remote" and all methods don't throw "RemoteException" as mandated by JAX-RPC standard.
    I have few questions:
    (1) Are the OC4J J2EE web services completey different from JAX-RPC based web services.??
    (2) Does Oracle have any implementation of JAX-RPC??
    (3) Is Sun the only one promoting and implementing the JAX-RPC standard? Or are there other players?
    thanks...

    (1) Are the OC4J J2EE web services completey different from JAX-RPC based web services.??
OC4J J2EE Web Services originate from Oracle/Apache SOAP with several differences:
    a. A model where each type of implementation gets a specific servlet (e.g. one for EJB's, one for PL/SQL, one for stateless and stateful Java classes. Architecturally, you can see the picture here:
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/903doc_otn/generic.903/b10004/orawebservices.htm#1024808
(scroll down a half page for the picture)
    b. The packaging of the Web services rather than using the Apache SOAP registration mechanism uses something closer to JSR 109 (also known as Web Services for J2EE, part of J2EE 1.4 with JAX-RPC, SAAJ [SOAP API forAttachments in Java] and JAXP [Java API for XML Parsing]), where the Web service is packaged as an ordinary ear file for deployment.
Oracle built this implementation by extrapolating from the JAX-RPC documentation that was available last year before it was a final specification in an effort to release a production quality Web services implementation that was aligned with JAX-RPC. It has been through two releases - Oracle9iAS 9.02 and Oracle9iAS 9.0.3 and is now being evolved to JAX-RPC as we move to J2EE 1.4.
    (2) Does Oracle have any implementation of JAX-RPC??
We are planning to release a JAX-RPC implementation in the new year (I don't have specific dates yet) on OC4J. The production implementation of this will be as seamless a migration as possible from the existing implementation. Oracle9i JDeveloper will also add support for JAX-RPC as a 3rd option in its list of choices available. You can get a sense of how such a migration would work by running the Web services wizard in JDev for Apache SOAP and then, in a separate project, running it for Oracle9iAS J2EE Web Services - imagine there being another option for JAX-RPC. The work to migrate should be as simple as running a wizard or command line utility (known as the Web Services Assembler tool in Oracle9iAS).
    (3) Is Sun the only one promoting and implementing the JAX-RPC standard? Or are there other players?
Pretty much every one in the Java side of industry will be implementing JAX-RPC. The important time to note is when J2EE 1.4 is released ... sometime in the new year ... I believe around March but may be mistaken. Part of J2EE 1.4 is required support for JAX-RPC, SAAJ, Web Services for J2EE etc etc. This will standardize the implementation of Web services. Oracle, like others in the industry, supports the standard protocols, (SOAP), interfaces (WSDL) and registries (UDDI) - what J2EE 1.4 does is standardize the packaging, deployment and implementation (the wrappers generated by the tooling).
My guess is that around JavaOne (June 2003) there will be a rash of announcements from J2EE vendors announcing support of JAX-RPC and J2EE 1.4 (or early implementations) as we will be in the same race that happened in 2001/2002 when J2EE 1.3 was the spec to announce implementations around.
    Mike.

  • What is Oracle Web Services Manager  and where can i get more information ?

    Hi,
Can any one point me to some useful links to know abt
Oracle Web Services Manager and some example to play with it.
    Appreciate your help !!
    Regards,

    Vijay,
You can install Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) as a stand alone product, but the easiest way would be to use the OracleAS SOA Suite Developer Preview, that contains all the SOA components (OWSM, J2EE, BPEL, ESB, ...)

  • Web Service and Oracle HTTP Server

I have a web environment with Oracle Database 10.2.0.3 , oracle http server (using mod_plsql), Oracle pl/sql web toolkit. I need to create a web service that is accessed externally which will interact with the database (select, insert, delete). Is it possible to publish a web service to the Oracle Http Server or to implement web services with the environment above

    Hello,
In RDBMS 10g you cannot directly expose WS from the DB you need to use the OracleAS Web Service Runtime to do it, following this documentation:
    - Developing Web Services that Expose Database Resources
This is true if we are talking about "tooling/runtime/API" but after all Web Services are mainly XML (WSDL and SOAP) so it is still possible to create by hands (PL/SQL & static files) but it is probably a long work depending of the complexity of your services.
Also, in RDBMS 11, you can now directly expose WS from the DB using the embedded HTTP server, see this Oracle 11g New Features Document
Note that before taking one approach you must take time to write up your requirement regarding Web Services eg: do I need security, which time of encoding, interoperability, ..., ... For example WS-Security that is the standard to secure SOAP messages is not (yet) supported by the Oracle 11g RDBMS Native Web Services... where when you do use the WS-Runtime you can secure the Web Service..

  • Difference of Oracle Application Server Web Services and JDeveloper

As new to the Webservices my Question is what is difference of:
    - 1. Web Services Assistents in JDeveloper 1.3 (JAXRPC specification, WS-Sec)
    - 2. "Oracle Application Server Web Services" 10.1.2 using WebServicesAssembler (depreciated ?)
    - 3. Apache Soap Server 2 based (deprecated ?)
When should I use the iAS Assistent and when the JDeveloper one for generation?
Why don't they use the same stuff?
Does anyone have some experience for projects on this?
    Thx, Willi
Have not found any Topic with an explanation on this. If you know someone please point me to that.

    Web service Assembler Tool

Thanks a lot for clearing this things to me.
I have to start a web services projects and I am confused which tools to use - JDeveloper Assistents or the WebServicesAssembler (as pointed out before).
Because I did not find some hints on this (expecpt your ones), it seems to me that I am missing some point or criteria on that I can do such a decision when to use what of those two tools.
Do I understand you right, that in future JDeveloper and the WebServicesAssembler will use the same .jar files and also generate the same code?
Thanks a lot for such valuable hints, Willi

  • Problem with Oracle Web Service Proxies reusing classes and exceptions

We have an application that have many web services and we're having a really hard time working with Oracle Web Service Proxy. We have many web services that share the same classes for parameters and exceptions. When we generate de proxy classes, it generates a lot of _LiteralSerializer classes. Because I'm reusing the same classes and exceptions it generates the same _LiteralSerializer classes for this classes and they get replaced. For Example
I have classes A and B and Web Services X and Y that use this classes. When I generate the 2 proxies it generates A_LiteralSerializer and B_LiteralSerializer on the 2 proxies and they get replaced and I get "No serlalizers for A class or B class". This problems repeats a lot of times and this problem is a huge risk for our project. We're using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
Is there a way to avoid this with Oracle Web Service Proxies?
    Regards,
    Néstor

Resolved when I create a deployement profile explicitly.
The Webservice.deploy that gets created automatically when I create a web service was giving this issue.

  • Oracle Web Services Manager and Stateful Services

    Hi,
I was wondering if anybody could help or provide guidance on stateful web services and the OWSM.
I've registered a stateful web service with the OWSM. I also selected the "Keep-Alive" option as well, but this prob. doesn't pertain to stateful web services. But it doesn't seem to register the fact that its a stateful web service. When I call it, I have a packet analyzer that looks at the TCP trace and no Session id is sent back in the headers on the client side, which is on a separate box. Obviously, running it directly with Java and Axis works fine.
We are using a gateway for the OWSM, not an agent. The web service is successful in getting called through OWSM but the problem is that no session information is sent back to client so subsequent calls fail b/c the web service requires the state and what the previous call was. This web service is a .NET service and resides on a different server/box than the Oracle SOA suite.
Are there any tutorials/information out there that would tell me how to register a stateful web service with the OWSM? Eventually we'd like to connect the OWSM to an ESB and that would require it to be stateful as well obviously.
    Thanks again,
    Nathan

On OTN, documentation library. Search for Oracle Web Service Manager and there you will see the Extensibility Guide.

  • Confirming method to secure web services through oracle web service manager

    Hi All,
I am just wondering about the method to secure web service through oracle web service manager.
I have a unsecure web service "helloworld" which is deployed on JWSDP1.6 toolkit.I want to secure it through oracle web service manager.
Inorder to secure this unsecure web service,I use gateway(web service manager for securing web service using message level security through certificate).
So when client want to access the helloworld service,it contacts the gateway securely and gateway intern connect to original web service after decrypting and verification of the signature. When gateway gets response from the web service,it signs the response message and then encrypt and passs on to the client.
So my question is,is it the right way to secure web service?
As I am getting the following fault exception :

  • Gateway in Oracle Web Service Manager

    Hi,
Does anybody know a really usable document for gateways in Oracle Web Service Manager?
I tried to use the common Oracle's document to create a gateway and counfigure a tomcat-axis web service in it, but I could not manage it.
Supposing that I have a webservice on http://localhost:8088/axis/services/ExtService?wsdl
and I have a OWSM administrable on http://localhost:3115/ccore
what wuld be the steps to register my webservice into OWSM to be able to call my web service through OWSM?
    thanx in advance,
    Attila

    Hi Eric,
    thank you for your answer.
Now I managed to authenticate the user with WS-BASE against LDAP server (ApacheDS), but, with the authorization I can not move on.
The structure of my Ldap entries is the following:
    -> system
      -> groups
        -> tomcatCallers
    attributes: cn: tomcatCallers
    objectClass: groupOfUniqueNames
    objectClass: top
    uniqueMember: 0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.1=owsmuser,
    0.9.2342.19200300.100.1.1=admin,2.5.4.11=system
      -> users
        -> owsmuser
    attributes: cn: OWSM user
    objectClass: person
    objectClass: organizationalPerson
    objectClass: inetOrgPerson
    objectClass: top
    sn: OWSM
    uid: owsmuser
So, Authentication against owsmuser is OK, with parameters:
    LDAP baseDN (*): ou=users,ou=system
    Uid Attribute (*): uid
How should I configure the policy step Ldap Authorize?
    I tried it with parameters:
    LDAP baseDN (*): ou=system
    ServiceRoles : tomcatCallers
    Uid Attribute (*): uid
but it does not seem to work. I get the fault: 'Access Denied. User: owsmuser'
    One more question :-) :
if I make a 2nd policy gateway with ID C0003002 and configure it in file
    %OWSM_HOME%\j2ee\home\applications\gateway\gateway\WEB-INF\gateway-config-installer.properties
with propery gateway.component.id=C0003002 and restart the OWSM the gateway identified by C0003001 becomes unreachable.
How can I configure OWSM to eable all the gateways at the same time?
    thanx in advance,
    Attila

  • Problem with MDM web services and webdynpro

    Hi MDMguru,
I have created web services from SDN example: it reads the MDM version.
If I use J2ee Navigator Web Services and I try  mywebservices, it works very well.
I have created a webdynpro (from this SDN Example https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/webdynpro/creating%20an%20email-client%20using%20web%20dynpro%20and%20web%20services.pdf).
I have followed step by step the example.
But when run webdynpro and it calls my webservices it not works because it throws this exception:
    javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: Exception in method getVersion. , Debug ,  , com.enel.sap.ws.component.WSComponent.VersionMDM , sap.com/tcwddispwda , J2EE_GUEST
    Can someone help me?

It appears that %ROWTPYE is not supported directly, and that we need to create a TYPE to wrap the return data
Thanks to Marc Thompson for the details (http://marc-on-oracle.blogspot.co.uk/2007/12/11g-database-installation-and-native.html)

  • Invoking a web service not created using oracle web service lib

    Hi All,
I have a need to invoke my web service from oracle sql command. My web service not created using oracle web service library, but it is created using axis c++ libraries. Is it possible to do so,
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Monica

In order to call out from the database process, is SQL (or PL/SQL) you need to generate some client code, that understand the details about the specific of the service you want to invoke and can produce the correct SOAP request. Once this proxy is uploaded in the Database, you can use it.
There is a set of Database Web services samples that should help you get started. You can also take a look at the developer's guide - see Developing a Web Service Client in the Database.
    Hope it answers your question.

  • Request aborted by user calling an Oracle Web Service

    Hi
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.2 to create my web services and web service stubs. I have a web application that uses the web service stubs to call the Business Logic that is exposed as Web Services. I'm getting the following intermittent error:
    IOException: Request aborted by user
Something is happening with the Web Service stub. After checking google I found out that the only class that throws this error is tHTTPClient.HTTPConnection class from the httpclient library.
Can this be a timeout error?

It look likes every stub you create with Oracle JDeveloper is not thread safe. This is really strange since OracleSOAPConnection uses HTTPClient and HTTPClient is thread safe.
