Oracle 11g - Invoke JOB on another server?
    ===========================
I hope this is the right forum for this issue, if not let me know, where to go.
I posted on other forum, but I did not find resposnes there, so I am posting it here.
We are using Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) on (Platform : solaris[tm] oe (64-bit)), Sql Developer 3.0.04
    1) We are loading table using PL/SQL.
    2) This data will be consumed by Mainframe DB2 process (Read our table, format and calculate measures).
    3) Return the result as another Oracle table (Push) with derived data from DB2.
There is a IBM JCL that read our table and return an Oracle table with calculated data.
    Is it doable?
How do we invoke the IBM JCL from our Oracle 11g server upon loading the table (Step 1)?
Are there any metalink notes to address this situation?
    Are there any alternate approach?
    Thanks in helping us.

    Hi,
Since your talking about interfacing between Oracle and DB2 where 3 sequential steps are to be taken, I would recommend to use a UNIX shell script to kick off the seperate steps.
I have no experience whatsoever with DB2, so I can't tell you if you would be able to start a JCL ( DB2 Job ?? ) from within the oracle database.
Otherwise you would need a kind of polling mechanism where the DB2 database checks for a certain value (table value) existence in order to start its work

  • Delete old records in oracle database using jobs

    Hi,
will it be possible to delete old records in oracle database using jobs
need to delete old records on weekly basis and rebuild my index.
    Thanks!

933633, While it is possible to do a great deal with the dbms_scheduler your shop should have a scheduler like CA Unicenter that is used to run the application job schedules. Purge jobs should probably be part of the normal application schedule rather than contained in the database, if your shop has a scheduler in use.
As far as rebuilding the indexes after the purge keep in mind that freshly rebuilt indexes often have to split when inserts are performed due to the fact the compacted index blocks do not have room to hold the newly inserted keys in the appropriate locations. So just because you purge weekly does not automatically mean the indexes should be rebuilt weekly. You need to look at the index key DML pattern and at the total percentage of the index that is held by deleted rows.

  • Suggestions please .. Oracle 9i + 9iAS

    Hi,
    I'm new to 9iAS..but I would like to install Oracle 9i + 9iAS.
    My plan:
    Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition on a Pentium 4 / 512 MB machine.
    9iAS on a Pentium 3 / 512 MB machine.
    Questions:
    Is this option realistic ?
Special items i've to consider ??
    Thanx in advance
    Martin vonk

yes you can do that. But note there are some manual steps you
need to implement to config portal to work with 9i DB. For
specific questions you can post it here and send me an email
    ([email protected]).
    Thanks,

  • Oracle wireless

    Hi,
i am new to this oracle wireless thing.
in every tutorial /doc i found that i can make use of some web services exposed by oracle at http://messenger.oracle.com/xms/webservices and run some demos.
but if want to send commercially what do i need to know and do.
is there any tutorial on the implementation of the web services?
also where from can i get the java doc of the oracle.panama.messaging.xms.* package
can any one help me out
    regards

    Hi Majumdar,
For the last couple of days I was working on this and have couple of answers. But I still have to test with the actual setup rather than oracle test webservice url given by you.
    1) I installed Oracle Wireless 10g (This needs OID and Infrastructure, so I did install them as well) and started all wireless components. from here I got the URL for the web service which I need to use for commercial purpose.
The sample URL I got is as follows
    http://<myhostname>:<myport>/xms/webservices
    2) You need to have a gateway subscription, so I got a free one from multimedia inc. actually they told me that they are creating/activating my account.
Now I guess we are good to go and test our application for commercial purposes.
This is what I found. I may be wrong but if any one really made it working, please share with us.
Now the panama package, is available at
    http://matrix.csustan.edu/docs/oracle/oas/wireless.1012/b14043/index.html
It is not oracle site, but helps me to understand API.
    Hope it helps....

  • Oracle Wireless / WDK and Opera web browser

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to access a XHTML-MP application, delivered by the Oracle WDK (10.1.2.0), from an Opera web browser 6.31 (on a Sony Ericsson P800 phone). Unfortunatly that browser does not seem to be well supported: tables are not well rendered.
Does anyone there experienced such configuration and is there a way to upgrade the WDK since Opera seems to be supported by the MCS/Oracle Wireless Server (full version)?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Fabrice.

    Fabrice,
Please let us know if you still need help w/ this post.
    Thank you.

  • How can I use Oracle Wireless Server to transcode content.

    Hi,
My application can generate and aggregates data from various sources and can output data in XML. Is there a way that send XML to Oracle Wireless Server and then a user of my application can see the output from mobile device( Pocket PC, Nokia, Imode etc.). Can it be done programmatically or using some wizards/configurations etc. I am relatively new to OracleAS so a detailed answer will be highly appreciated.
    [email protected]

You can use FOP, but the formatting of the xsl (Xml Style Sheets) takes a little work. If you have the Oracle Reports server up and access to the development product, why not go that route?
You want the filtering and sorting and searching, yes, but then you also want to print them out.. Then you would probably be best looking at replacing the Oracle Reports setup with BI Publisher. You can convert Most your reports over to bi publisher layouts easily.. (I have heard of some reports that do require recreating in Bi Publisher from Oracle Reports..)
Then you can have your Apex Reports and call Bi Publisher from APEX and everyone wins..
Is your Oracle Reports stuff used by non-APEX applications, that could be modified to use Bi Publisher?

  • Oracle Apps - 9iAS : Basic doubts

    Hello,
I am new to Oracle Apps and 9iAS
I have few basic doubts regarding the integration of these
    Can anybody please clarify...
The middle tier of Orcale Apps is the 9iAS Application Server.
Read that Oracle9i AS Components are :
    - J2EE and Internet Applications (sub-components are Oracle HTTP Server, OC4J, Web services etc)
    - Portals
    - Wireless
    - Web cache
    - Business Intelligence
    - E-Business Integration
Read that middle tier of Oracle Apps has following servers
    - Web server
    - Forms server
    - Concurrent Processing server
    - Reports server
    - Discoverer server (optional)
    - Admin server
So, all the components of 9iAS are installed with Oracle Apps ?
If only some, then which are those ?
Where do Concurrent Processing server, Reports server etc come from as these are not the components of 9iAS ?
Are these very specific to Oracle Apps only ?
As the core database administration knowledge is required for Apps administration (for managing database tier), isn't the 9iAS knowledge required (for managing the middle tier) ?
If yes, then upto what level ?
Knowing about Oracle HTTP Server, Apache server, Web cache, OC4J etc etc is required ?
Please suggest some links / documents related to all these ?
I found a couple of them on metalink & OTN, but not very useful !
    Thanks

9iAS consist of Apache and an Oracle database on the middle tier.
The other components come from the developer suite.

    Hi,
When i used to get only one page the options like facing, continuous facing are disabled. And displays only single page.
These options are enabled only when there are multiple pages in pdf.
One more thing i found that it happens when I first view the report as pdf it displays
all the pages, then i change the display format to csv and again when i change
the format to pdf the problem starts.
And when I will restart the report server service, it works fine again until i wont view it in CSV format.

  • Wireless print job stuck in queue

C5180 print jobs from network are stuck in queue and won't print.  I've reinstalled driver, etc.  Does print from a USB cable connection.  Any ideas?

I've got a similar problem with the officejet 5510 (multifunction) attached by USB to XP computer.  I can print direct (connected by USB) and wirelessly from my windows 7 laptop.  I can print direct (USB) from my Mac OS 10.4.11  However, when I print wirelessly from the Mac, the print job shows up in the que on the XP machine with the 5510 attached, but wont print.  I have to clear the spool from the command line.
I've set up the 5510 wirelessly by using the advanced windows printing via Samba, by Lpd to the IP address, and by simply adding the printer in the work group.  All three ways result in network traffic (I see it on the firewall log) and result in a document queued.
since there is no 5510 officejet (mutlifunction), I have set up the printer with the cups/gutenprint 5.2.7 profiles using several different printers - generic officejet, deskjet 950c, officejet 5110, designjet 5500ps, designjet 5000PS HP 9085MFP.
I can't get the print job out of the queue/spool and into the printer.
    Any thoughts?
