Oracle Workflow for Java on 9i and Websphere

Hi
We are using Websphere and 9i, which is unfortunately the companies worldwide policy. So not possible to change. Currently we use the PL/SQL based workflow with unsatisfying results.
Will it be possible to run OW4J on Websphere 5.0 with a 9i Database?
Thanks

    Raja,
We're having some difficulty getting the StockQuote demo working with the latest OW4J Preview release. We get the demo web page to appear but are not sure how to set Owner, ItemKey, and UserKey such that we don't get the following errors when we click "Run Workflow". Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers,

  • Oracle Help for Java 4.2.0 and 4.1.17

Attention to all: Oracle Help for Java 4.2.0 and 4.1.17 are now available for download at
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/help/content.html
OHJ 4.2.0 features a new Ice Browser and enhancements related to the known modal dialog problem. It requires JDK 1.3 and is a recommended upgrade for all clients using JDK 1.3 or higher.

4.1.17 appears to work correctly with RoboHelp.
4.2 gives an error when attempting to generate fts.idx via RoboHelp.

  • Migrating from JavaHelp to Oracle Help for Java

Currently we have a product in which we have implemented Sun Microsystem's JavaHelp as the Help delivery system. However, after evaluating Oracle Help for Java we would like to migrate from Javahelp to OHJ.
My question is, how difficult would this migration be from the Development side? I have been reviewing the Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide and comparing it against the JavaHelp documentation but I haven't been able to get a clear idea of how different the implementation is.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

    Hello Theresa,
    Thanks for considering Oracle Help.
There isn't much you have to do with your source content and control files. With the exception of the full text search index, the Oracle Help control file formats (helpset, index, map, etc.) extend the JavaHelp formats. So you can use the JavaHelp control files as is, or you can extend them with the Oracle Help extensions. For a quick overview of differences, see the following page in the Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Comparision to Javahelp File Formats."
To create an Oracle Help full text search index, run through the Helpset Authoring Wizard and remove the existing JavaHelp search view and have the wizard generate an Oracle Help Search index
on the following wizard page. For the Helpset Authoring Wizard doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the HelpSet Authoring Wizard."
Alternatively, change the helpset file by hand. For the doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Helpset File."
Then run the indexer. For doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the Full-text Search Indexer."
On the development side, the APIs are different, but they are also very
simple. You create a Help object, add HelpSets, and associate topic-ids
with java UI components using the CSHManager as described in the
    Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide."

  • Oracle Coherence for Java

I am not sure which version of Oracle Coherence I need for the OpenFire clustering plugin. It says I need Oracle Coherence for Java, and that you need a license for it. There appears to be different flavors of it, Standard, Media, Grid, Real-Time, and enterprise. Oracle Media is cheapest license. Can I use this license or do I need a Standard license.

The tell tale sign that the application is communicating with the running cache server is the membership information that is logged. In your previous running of the example you would have "members=1" embedded in the logging. From the sounds of what you are doing, you'd expect this to be different as the application would be joining a running instance. Check out section 1.3 of this doc on the system you are using.

    Hello,
J would like to know if there are some differences between Oracle 8i for a UNIX Platform and Oracle 8i for a Linux Platform.
I know that there are some differences on Oracle 8i Parallel Server and i know that some products are not include like precompiler (Mod*Ada, Pro*FORTRAN) on a Linux Platform.
    Thank you.

We have installed Oracle 8i on Solaris 8 and it had a great performance, of course that the hardware and licence invested here was costed my the office where i work. Personaly i'd installed linux reh hat 8 and oracle 8i, imagine that, it could be implemented by any individual that has the time to do so.
By buyinng from a company that has a good background you could be sure that you will have support.
Bottom line, if you have the $ to buy great hardware go for a unix platform. But if you don't a Red Hat Linux Server Licence with a 1 year sopport and Oracle data base is about 3500Dls.

  • Call Oracle Help for Java in Oracle forms running in the web

    Hi, everyone,
We are developing a web-enabled Oracle database application
system. Oracle suggested us to use Oracle Help for Java(OHJ) to
create an online help system for the web environment. We
successfully created a OHJ program which can be independently.
But we still have no idea how to call this OHJ program from the
forms running in the web environment.
    Could anyone help us out?
    Thanks.

I would like to know if anyone has been able to do this too. Could someone respond if they have successfully gotten this to work?
    Thanks!!

What's the best workflow for effciency sake for burning both a Blu-ray and a DVD of the same project?
Essientially I'd like to export and create a menu once, then be able to downrez to DVD. However, I'm not sure that is possible since blu-ray and DVD are differnt codecs.
    Thank you

The only way that you can get acceptable re-scaling of menus is to go from BR to DVD, and do the editing in Photoshop.  Simply re-scaling the menu here will not give acceptable results.
I usually copy the various button layers from the BR menu to a new DVD menu file created using the provided Photoshop preset.  You will still have to do  some manual re-scaling and alignment.  The thing that has given me the most trouble over the years is round button highlights - a segment is often chopped off.  Font sizes will probably need adjusting too.
Unless you are adept with handling layers and groups within Photoshop, it may be easier to start again.
Any attempt to convert within Encore is unlikely to produce acceptable menus in my experience.

  • Visual Age for Java 3.0 and EJBs

    Michael,
We are also seeing problems with EJB development using the VAJ integration kit
for Weblogic 4.5.1 and Visual Age Java 3.0.2. The rest of the integration,
JSPs, Servlets, etc. appear to work just fine using the 4.5.1 integration kit
and Visual Age Java 3.0.2. However, with EJBs we are finding the deployment
tools to break into the VAJ debugger.
    Comments (all welcome)

  • Adobe illustrator asks for Java SE 6 and the link doesn't work at Apple

Adobe illustrator asks for Java SE 6 (a legacy installation) and won't run without it. The link to the legacy version at Apple goes to an error page ("too many redirects") Does anyone have a solution? Has something  changed recently. The mac help page is dated March 27, 2015, but the link at for Java SE 6 results in an error for me.

    Try this: Apple Java 2014-001.

  • 32 bit version of Oracle 9i for HP-UX.  and AIX

Is it possible to download the 32 bit version of Oracle 9i for HP and AIX? The partner download site only has the 64 bit versions available.

Hi. If you will check the product lifecycle area on Metalink you will find that there will be no Oracle9i 32 bit for HP-UX or AIX. There is a document there that basically says these platforms will no longer be supported as part of Oracle's strategy to keep current with all the hardware vendors moving to 64 bit.

  • Need Software of Oracle Workflow for Oracle 9i v2 (9.2.0.5)

    Hi,
I want to download Oracle Workflow 2.6.2. Where is the software located on the Oracle download site?
What is the version of Oracle workflow that can be used (integrated) with Oracle 9i Release 2 (9.2.0.5).
Can I install Oracle Workflow as a standalone product.

The inventory file is showing (as last timestamp) the date on which I upgraded the EBSDEV database. So there is no corruption.
Besides - I am looking for some help here - not being told what is wrong. For some reason the oracle home you are looking for does not exist in the Inventory. I do not know of a way to easily add it back, but I do not think all is lost either. ;)
Since you have already upgrade the binaries of the other Oracle Homes you could copy the set of patched binaries to the Oracle Home that is not in the inventory. You will have to run the cat upgrade scripts on the four databases though.
Once you upgrade to 10g you can use OUI to clone one of the oracle homes that a appear in the inventory to same location of the missing home to add it back into the inventory.
