Oracle workflow install question

i have installed oracle workflow that embeded in oracle9i integration(version2.6.0.1).
every thing is ok,but when i connect(open remote db) to oracle db in oracle workflow client,it reture a error:
"language isn't enabled.....".
my db language charset is ZHS16GBK,
and i find that the default charset of oracle workflow is US7ASCII.
it isn't match!!i reinstall the db used charset US7ASCII,but the error return also....
how to solve this question???
i heared that can download the translation patch to patch it,where to find it ?
tks a lot!

The issue here is the Client Registry setting of the Oracle Home the Workflow Client is installed. From the Workflow Guide:
For Windows NT, run the regedit32 command and locate the NLS_LANG setting under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE hierarchy. Double click on NLS_LANG, then set the variable to the new value and save your edit.
The value must match one of the languages installed for workflow.

    Hello.
I am new to Oracle Workflow so please accept my appologies if my question sound silly :)
I am trying to install Oracle http and oracle workflow. the installer keeps giving me this error message:
OUI10066 - Not all dependencies for the component Oracle JDBC/OCI Driver for JDK 1.2.10.1.0.2.6 could be found. Missing component: Missing component oracle.java.jdbc.thin12 10.1.0.1.0
I have chked my DB installetion and in the list of installed products it says that all of the required components for JDK 1.2.10.1.0.2.6 are installed.
I have search metalink - couldn't find anything there that might be helpful.
If you had this problem before or may be know what might be causing it - please share our knowledge.
Thank you very much for your help and support

    Hi
    No worries :)
Ok so you have Oracle up and running - always a good start :)
The next thing i did was to install Oracle HTTP server. I used the database installer - go to your start menu -->program files -->oracle -->oracle installetion products and from there select oracle universal installer. You can use the one that comes with the CD but for me it didn't work. So i used the one from the database.
Once you launched Oracle Universal installer from your database it should automatically pick up Oracle companion CD (i saved mine on my drive so it was picked up from there). If not - just browse to whenever your oracle CD is.
Once you start - have a read through the three options it gives you (you have to choose what you want to nstall). You need to option that gives Oracle HTTP and Workflow Middle Tier. Just expand that option and select ORacle http. then follow the instructions.
Once you installed Oracle http - launch the installer again and choose the option that gives you the actuall oracle workflow. phew!
This is how i did it
Hope it make sense this time :)

  • Oracle 10g Install Question

    Hi All,
I have to install oracle 10g onto a server where there is existing oracle 9i software.
Is it safe to go ahead with the install, while the 9i databases are up?? what are the consequences of doing this?
OS patches and kernel parameters as required for oracle 10g have already been changed.
10g is being installed into a different oracle home and i would choose not to overwrite any of the files as asked by root.sh script.
    OS is hp-ux 11i (11.11).
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
Sorry for not being clear in my question earlier.
I am planning to install Oracle 10g on a server with existing 9i software. My question is whether we should shutdown all 9i databases for the duration of the install or we can leave them running as long as we do not overwrite any 9i files including files in /usr/local/bin directory that contains oranev etc...
To be on the safer side it is always recomended to shutdown any oracle instances running before we start the install. Wanted to know the consequences if we have them up and running for the duration of the install.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Workflow Install Guidance - Please help!! :=)

I have some questions about how/where to install Oracle Workflow. Any guidance would be appreciated.
    1) Is there a Workflow 2.6.2 CD or do you just install 2.6 and then use the patch to update your install?
    2) Is the Oracle Workflow installed on the database server or the app server. I know that a DAD is needed on the app server in something like 9iAS or OAS. However, where is the actual Workflow Server installed (db server or app server)? Where is the Oracle 9i Management and Integration installed? Specifically, does the /wf directory end up being on the database server or the app server?
    3) Workflow is bundled with the database 9.2 CD as well as 9iAS 9.0.2 as a supplemental CD. Does it matter which one you use? Are they different products? If you use the 9iAS one, where do you install it?
    4) I know that Workflow 2.6.2 is bundled with Oracle 9iAS InterConnect in 9iAS 9.0.2.1. However, you have to install the whole thing including InterConnect even if you just want Workflow 2.6.2.
Again any guidance/help/pointers to documentation will help. Trust me, I have tried to read everything out there and they are very careful not to mention where you install the product (db server or app server)... :=)
    Thanks,
    Ray

I've been messing with workflow - so these comments are from someone who is not an expert.
Oracle Workflow is part of the database install on 9i. I managed to get it installed in the following rough manner:
    1. Install 9i databse on a machine
    2. Add the workflow bit by choosing "Oracle 9i Management and Integration", then "Custom". When you hit next, Oracle Workflow should be under enterprise manager product.
This will install workflow and launch the configurator. Now you kind of have workflow, but you need to do more "magic" to get the web front end up.
Firstly you need to make sure that you have the HTTP server up and can access its pages. There is no a setting under the web server implmentation which allows you to setup a "DAD" for the workflow. Try searching oracle pdfs for :
Step 4. Install and configure your Web server.
Oracle Workflow requires that you integrate with Oracle HTTP Server as
your Web server. Your Web server installation must be able to access the
Oracle Workflow java area, the Oracle Workflow icon area, and the Oracle
    Workflow documentation area.
    1. Install Oracle HTTP Server with mod_plsql.
Refer to your Oracle9i Database Server or Oracle9i Application Server
    installation documentation for further details.
    2. Using your web browser, navigate to the following URL:
    http://<server_name>[:<portID>]/
Replace <server_name> and <portID> with the server and port number
on which your web listener accepts requests. For example:
    http://test.company.com:7778/
    3. In the Oracle HTTP Server Components page, choose "mod_plsql".
    4. In the Gateway Configuration Menu page, choose "Gateway Database
    Access Descriptor Settings".
    5. In the Database Access Descriptors page, choose "Add Default (blank
    configuration)".
    6. Create a DAD for Oracle Workflow, specifying the following settings:
Database Access Descriptor Name: <your Workflow DAD>
    Schema Name: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle User Name: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle Password: <Leave Blank>
    Oracle Connect String: <CONNECT_STRING>
Note: Oracle Workflow Release 2.6.2 supports the
versions of Oracle HTTP Server and mod_plsql that are
included with Oracle9i Database Server version 9.2 or
higher, as well as the versions that are included with
Oracle9i Application Server Release 2 (9.0.2) or higher. We
recommend using the versions of Oracle HTTP Server and
mod_plsql that are included on the software CD from
which you are installing Oracle Workflow.

  • OWB process flow & Oracle Workflow

    Hi,
In order to deploy the OWB process flow packages, is it necessary to have Oracle workflow installed on the Target server? When I tried to deploy a process flow package to the target database (10gR2 db), it required a user called owf_mgr. As far I know, owf_mgr is the admin user for workflow. Can this feature work without OWF being installed?

  • How can I install Oracle Workflow?

    Hy!
I use OracleDatabase 10.2 on WindowsXP. I want install Oracle Workflow 2.6.3, but I can't do this. The installation guide say "In the Oracle Universal Installer, choose to install into the Oracle home for your Oracle Database 10g, and select Oracle Workflow Server as the component to install." If I do this, then the error message is: "This is not a 10g oracle_home. Please abort the installation", but it is a 10g home, but I dont find "select Oracle Workflow Server as the component to install" setting in the Universal Installer.
    What can I do?
    Please help me!

Oracle DB 10.2 has Oracle Workflow standalone 2.6.4 with it. If you are installing 2.6.4 that comes with the 10.2 DB CD it should go through fine. If you are doing exactly what I said but still have the same problem, please give the installar log file.

    The files at
    http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/workflow/htdocs/winsoft.html
are for Oracle Workflow version 2.6.0. Here is some information from the announcement for downloading the latest version, 2.6.3:
Oracle Workflow 2.6.3 for Oracle Database 10g is now available for download from OTN.
Please point your browsers to http://otn.oracle.com/software/index.html
Currently, the availability is limited to Windows and we are working towards availability on other platforms. I will post another message as soon as it becomes available.
The Workflow Server requires an Oracle 10g database home and the Workflow mid-tier requires an Oracle HTTP Server home - Apache Install from the Oracle 10g Companion CD. For more information please read the installation notes.

  • How to install the oracle workflow, I have download the workflow 263

I have download the workflow 263, but when i install it, it always show it the error.
"This is not a 10g oracle-home, please abort the installation".
I am new to oracle workflow.

In my case I have already installed the 10 Database, and I have carefully set Oracle_Home in my Windows Server 2003 environment variables parameters to the right directory
"D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1", and on the page where im suppose to select the product to install on the workflow universal installer screen. I choose leave it at the first option which is already choosen "Oracle Workflow 2.6.3.0.0", i don't choose the second option middletier since I donnot need it currently, but I keep getting this error of
"This is not a 10G ORACLE_HOME" when I click next for it to start installing.
Before I usually try to include this configuration parameter in my database sever parameter file "aq_tm_processes=2" but whenever i do that using a text editor, the database server crashes, and I'll have to do a fresh installation before I can use the database, this time I stopped trying to edit the server parameter file and I tried installing the workflow server straight with the steps above but the error, please any assistance will be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How to install oracle workflow on my desktop?

i am having oracle 9i in my machine. i want to install oracle workflow. kindly tell me how to install or provide me with the link where installation has been explained.please let me know where i will find that documen?t
    thanks.

There are two major components to install in Oracle Workflow.
    1. Workflow Client - Otherwise called Oracle Workflow Builder, this is a windows based tool to design and develop your workflow process. This tool is the developer's tool for transforming the business process into a workflow process. The process definition can be stored to filesystem as a file with .wft extension or directly to a database where workflow server is installed.
    2. Workflow Server - Workflow engine that executes the workflow process designed using the workflow builder above. The workflow process designed above is loaded into the workflow server either from the builder directly by connecting to the workflow server schema or using the workflow definitions loader which is a command line utility that reads the .wft file.
    Installation
    1. You may install the Workflow Builder 2.6.2 downloadable from OTN on your PC. This needs an appropriate Oracle Home using which the builder is built by Oracle. I believe 2.6.2 can be installed into a 9i home. It is better that you install the builder into a new Oracle Home and not use any existing homes.
    2. Workflow Server 2.6.2 is shipped with Oracle Database 9iR2. In the additional or optional components (not sure about the exact words) section of your 9iR2 CD you can find Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 that provides the workflow server. You may install this into the existing Oracle Database 9iR2 Oracle home. After installing oracle workflow server you should run the Workflow Configuration Assistant to create the workflow schema in the database and create the required objects in the schema in order for the Workflow Engine to be become operational.
In summary, installation of Workflow Server has two phases.
o Install Oracle Workflow to 9iR2 home.
o Run Workflow Configuration Assistant to configure the workflow server
Once the Workflow Configuration Assistant is run successfully, you need to set up the PLSQL DAD (Database Access Descriptor) to access workflow home page using the Apache server that comes bundled with Oracle Database 9iR2.
Please refer to Oracle Workflow 2.6.2 installation document for more information.

  • Where should we install Oracle Workflow Server?

    Hi,
We are using Oracle Warehouse Builder 10G R1.
We installed Runtime Repository in oracle databae 10.2
We installed Oracle Workflow server 2.6.3.5 in separate oracle datbase 10.2.
What I mean to say is, we installed Runtime Repository in one database instance and Oracle Workflow manager in separate datbase instance.
Here my concern is whether both Runtime Repository and Wokflow server should be installed based on the same datbase? Or can we install on differnt datbases?
    will it be fine?
    Any suggestions are welcome?
    Thank you,
    Regards,
    Gowtham Sen.

We run our workflow server and owb repository on a different machine than our DW instance. The main benefit being that we can do maintenance independently. Our OWF implementation is pretty benign as resources are concerned.
Our development server contains two instances for UAT and DEV, OWB repositories, and a single OWF implementation using the DEV instance. It runs perfectly fine, and if budget concerns were an issue I would have ran OWF, OWB and DW DB on the same instance in production.
However we do have an issue with the single OWF implementation on our DEV/UAT server. When we deploy the process flows in UAT it invalidates the process flows in DEV. Easy workaround though: Redeploy flows in DEV ( invalidates UAT). I haven't found a permanent solution around that.
