Oracle XDB HTTP Server?

Hi,
Version: 11.1.0.6 - Linux
I have configured the Apex installation to use the Oracle XML DB HTTP Server and everything is working fine.
I also understand that this XML DB HTTP server is running in the database.
Just wanted to know if I could find the path of this HTTP server and where it is running in the linux box on which this DB is installed.
Could somebody please help me with this information.
Regards,
Jitesh

Hi Prabodh,
The path is the http://host_name:port/apex is the url to access the apex application.
Ex: If I am using an Apache server, then I would have a path for this Apache server on my linux machine.
Since, my current scenario deals with a XDB HTTP server inside the DB, just wanted to know that does this HTTP server have a path where I could access it on the linux machine as well.

  • 9iAS vs. Oracle 8i HTTP Server

    Hi,
Can anyone explain in some sentences main differences between 9iAS and Oracle 8i HTTP Server.
The latter we have "for free" with the database and in many applications (e.g. PL/SQL + Web Toolkit) this seems to work quite well.
What do we pay for when buing 9iAS?
    Regerds,
    Jarek

For your application if you care about scalability and want to offload db traffic to cheaper hardware based app server, you might want to consider app server usage.
Also, please note that the presence of HTTP Server in database might change in future.

  • APEX Oracle 11g HTTP Server - Cannot get SSL working

I have installed APEX on Oracle 11g with the Oracle HTTP Server on MS Windows server.
Data base up and running, APEX up an running.
All works as expected on port 7777
When I try 4443 I get error message re self signed certificate by Oracle, but if I click through error message I get an https connection.
I want to replace default cert with a locally signed cert, and get SSL working on 4443, then switch to port 443.
I have used the Oracle Wallet manager, generated a CSR, had this signed by my corproate CA, and installed the corporate CA cert and the newly signed server cert into the wallet (with Auto Login Set) and saved it in:
    D:\orahttp\Oracle_WT1\instances\apex\config\OHS\ohs1\keystores\infosec2wallet
This creates two files: ewallet.p12 and cwallet.sso
I then manually add the group/users "SYSTEM" and "Administrators" to these two files to match the security tab on the default wallet.
I T then go to the ssl.conf file located at:
    D:\orahttp\Oracle_WT\instances\apex\config\OHS\ohs1\ssl.conf
    and changed the entry:
    #SSLWallet "${ORACLE_INSTANCE}/config/${COMPONENT_TYPE}/${COMPONENT_NAME}/keystores/default"
    SSLWallet "${ORACLE_INSTANCE}/config/${COMPONENT_TYPE}/${COMPONENT_NAME}/keystores/infosec2wallet"
I then stop and start the Oracle HTTP Server - ohs1 from the start menu.
Then I try to connect from my desk top machine using the following URL:
    https://us-pghinfosec2.ariba.com:4443/pls/apex/f?p=101:1:
I get the clasic MS IE Message:

I am at a loss as to what to do. It acts like Oracle HTTP can not open my wallet.
I suspect it needs the password to the wallet but I cannot find any place to specify the password, and Auto Login should have addressed that issue.
    Any insights welcome.

  • Oracle 10g HTTP Server + PHP

Does anyone know how to enable PHP support on Oracle HTTP Server (from Oracle DB Companion CD)? I tried to compile PHP on it, bet I get the following error:
    Configuring SAPI modules
    checking for AOLserver support... no
checking for Apache 1.x module support via DSO through APXS...
Sorry, I was not able to successfully run APXS. Possible reasons:
    1. Perl is not installed;
    2. Apache was not compiled with DSO support (--enable-module=so);
    3. 'apxs' is not in your path. Try to use --with-apxs=/path/to/apxs
    The output of /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/cp_1/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs follows

Oracle HTTP server does not have DSO support, is there some possibility to enable it? Or there exists another way to enable PHP support on Oracle HTTP server.

Your existing PHP already extracts as binary - that's what is causing
    a problem.
The two functions I mentioned convert to ASCII using their respective
encodings. What format you want depends on what you want to do with
    the string.
Here is some code that may be helpful.

    $img = substr($img, 0, 2000);

  • Oracle and http server to install apex

    Dears,
    My old configuration was a solarisx86 (installation : 10202_database_solx86 ,10202_companion_solx86).
I would like to install a new version of apex on a node of a cluster HP UX.
Could someone tell me what and where can i find an oracle 10 compatible apex and and http server for this?
    thanks in advance.
    Celio

[10g Release 2 downloads on OTN|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html]. (Can't be more specific than this because you haven't identified your flavour of HP-UX.) Oracle HTTP Server is on the Companion CD.

  • Oracle (Apache) HTTP Server - Default Header Size limitation

Does the Oracle HTTP Server have a http header size limitation? If so, what is the maximum size allowed for http headers? Can it be changed, and how?
Which version of Apache shipped with AS 9.0.4? I've been trying to find the answer to my questions in the Apache 1.3 documentation, but I'm not having any luck.
Let me explain my problem. We're using Vintela's Single Sign-On library for authentication in our java applications. Recently we ran into a problem where a user was not being granted access to the application. Much debugging occured, eventually we had to open a trouble ticket with Vintela. They suggested it might be a http header size limitation and to check the configuration for the web cache and apache. We easily found the configuration options for the web cache, but are still looking for apache.
We've by-passed the web cache and accessed the HTTP server directly and we are still experiancing the same problem.
To keep this message short and concise, I've omitted most of our troubleshooting, we're pretty sure the problem is related to a HTTP header size limitation.

One trick I saw the Oracle guys do is telnet to the httpd port and manually type in an HTTP request.
Perhaps ask the Vintela people for a test string that you can paste in a telnet window to test if the server handles it correctly.
Also, you can put Apache in a sort of debug mode as well using the AS Console. I can't remember, but I think this may show the entire http request including the headers.

  • Oracle HTTP Server 9.0.2

Can I use Oracle HTTP Server 9.0.2 for HTMLDB 2.0? Is there any issue with that version?
    Thanks.

What does the error_log of the Oracle Apache HTTP server say? This is typically in the $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs directory.
Weird that a mutex create failed. Without the actual o/s error code that resulted, it is difficult to diagnose the problem. Anything in the Application (or Security) Event Log? Access denied seems to indicate an ACL failure of sorts.
You could also disable FastCGI - it is not very often used and APEX (mod_plsql) does not need it. The httpd.conf file (in $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf) can be edited to disable FastCGI.

  • What is the realtion Fusion Middleware and Oracle HTTP Server?

    Hi,
Can someone explain me why is WebLogic necessary to administrate graohically the Oracle 11g HTTP Server?
What means what I found in the documentation:
"To display Fusion Middleware Control, you enter the Fusion Middleware Control
URL, which includes the name of the WebL
ogic Administration Server host and the
    port number assigned to
Fusion Middleware Control during the installation"
Does this means that Weblogic need to be installed and configured?
    Kind regards.

    Hi,
If you want to control OHS via GUI then deploying Oracle Enterprise Manager FMW Control is the only option.
And for the same you need to have weblogic, bcoz  OEM FMW control would be deployed as an application on the weblogic server.
If you are going to use other products in FMW stack (Example: Forms and reports services 11g), then complete administration would be done through FMW control.
Monitoring and administering your weblogic clusters, ohs, webcache everything can be done though single interface.
Please do not go with assumption that only from GUI all these things can be done, command line is the best thing and the option is there.
Consider this only as an enhancement.

  • Install SSL certificate for Oracle HTTP server

I received a PFX file that contains an SSL wildcard certificate for our company *.xyz.com.
I used this tool "xca" to extract two files: "server.crt" and "serverkey.pem".
I want to install this on the oracle 11g HTTP server (OHS) installed as standalone based on apache 2.2
With oracle, i have to create a wallet and point the SSL.CONF wallet directive to use that wallet.
I used Oracle Wallet Manager to create it and import the certificate but this is where i am having a problems.
First I could not restart the web server but the it worked but I got SSL handshake errors (Shown below).
According to oracle steps, I have to create a CSR and then import the certificate into the wallet
    http://www.apache.com/resources/how-to-setup-an-ssl-certificate-on-apache/
However, when I tried to use Oracle Wallet Manager, there were two options: import server certificate and trusted certificate.
The import server certificate was greyed out. I had to create a CSR just to get it enabled but I did not use the CSR, i just imported the "server.crt" file.
I also tried to import the "serverkey.pem" into the trused certificate option but was rejected (invalid certificate).
Do you know how to create a successful wallet based on the files i have and not creating a CSR since i already have a certificate file?

I do not have weblogic installed. I only have standalone 11g HTTP server with mod_plsql.

  • Oracle HTTP Server, client certificate chain

I use Oracle (Apache) HTTP Server, installed from Oracle SOA Suit distrib.
There're 2 types of ssl client cert chains that I use: client-issue-root, client-root.
My ssl works fine, unless I should config mod_ossl to accept only user certificates signed by certificate issuer (not root).
    I add SSLRequire directive:
    SSLOptions StdEnvVars ExportCertData
    SSLRequire (%{SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN_0} == file("/path/to/issue.cer"))
but this doesn't work (condition expression always turn in false), and
    SSLOptions StdEnvVars ExportCertData
    SSLRequire (%{SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN_0} == "")
    condition always turn in true.
    So, SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN_0 is ALWAYS EMPTY.
I've tried to use different versions of ApacheModuleOSSL.dll (build in 09/19/2006 version 10.1.3.1, 06/12/2007 version 10.1.3.3), result is the same.
I've found something about mod_ssl (not mod_ossl) in "Technologies for Information Environment Security: TIES project report" (http://edina.ac.uk/projects/ties/ties_23-9.pdf):
"NOTE: This is the second, and more significant, problem we encountered in this area of mod_ssl: the first caused all the
SSL_CLIENT_CERT_CHAIN_n environmental variables to be empty. We traced this bug back to a literal +17 offset into a
character string that should have been +18, but by the time we had done so, a fixed version was available."
Is there the same problem in mod_ossl?
    Does anybody have any ideas?

    Once again)
    http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg11705.html
I've got a question for Oracle developers: is this the same problem in OHS and OHS2 mod_ossl?
And if yes, when we can wait the patch?
    Thanks!
