Oracle XE 10g running on XP Professional SP2

Hi
I have installed Oracle XE 10g on XP Professional SP2. By default, it configured the port 8080 for the HTML DB.
When I do the netstat -a, I cannot see port 8080 is listening and I cannot open the HTML DB.
My oracle server is up and I can use it using SQLPlus
Can anybody tell me what proble I have, and the solution for the same?
Thanks & Regards
Manish

Hi
I want to install Oracle on this machine. In
product-specific Prerequisite checks I get:

Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP

Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on
systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However,
before you can do this, you must configure the
Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network
adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide

How can I clear this error?

    I have problem installing oracle 10 g on Windows XP Professional. When the installation goes to "Configuration Assistants", it shows three options, Oracle Net configuration Assistant, Oracle Database Configuration Assistant and iSQL *Plus Configuration Assistant. However, the status of "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" keep showing "In progress.." for more than 6 hours. It seems the program is not responding, then I stopped the program, uninstall it and tried to install it again but the installation still stopped at "Configuration Assistants". I did the installation/uninstall 3 times already. Could anyone help and provide some solutions?

  • Oracle Forms 10g run time problem

    Hello.
    I installed Oracle Dev 10g and I'm trying to use Oracle Forms.
    I configured all files like this:
    [steps in other post]
    1. Install the Jinitiator
    location: <devsuitehome>/jinit/jinit.exe
    2. edit the following files:
    a. <devsuitehome>/forms90/server/default.env
    where you set forms90_path=add your path to your library files (*.pll)
    b. <devsuitehome>/forms90/server/formsweb.cfg
    where you set workingDirectory=path to your *.fmx files
    3. at Forms Builder go to Edit/Preferences/Runtime
    then at the Application Server URL click "Reset to Default"
    4. before attempting to run your forms, run "Start OC4J Instance" first
    start/programs/oracle developer suite/forms developer/start oc4j instance
    After this, when I try to run the form, I don't get any error, but the browser opens and does nothing! Some times appears a small form to acces the data base, other don't, but it always stops!!
    Any ideas?!?
    Many thanks,
    Nuno

    Might also be worth turningon the Jinit console (you can do this from your windows Control Panel). And set the trace level to 5 (just press 5 when the jinit console appears).
    Then check error messages.
    Regards

  • PLSQL 10g on Windows 7 Professional

    Hi everyone,
    I have installed Oracle Client 10g on Windows 7 Professional, but when I run PLSQL and type all of my user credentials my PLSQL window closes, but if I right click on the icon and choose run as administrator or run this program in compatibility mode works pretty well. Is there a way to make it work without having all these issues?

    Hi everyone,
    I downloaded the version called Oracle 10g client from the Oracle website and I only choosed the options SQL Plus and Net Configuration Assistant to install, but after I make all the connection requirements to connect to Oracle, when I run SQL Plus Release 10.2.0.1.0 and type username and password it dissapear, but if I open SQL Plus using right click to run as administrator works fine.
    I don't understand how come older versions like 8.0 works fine on Windows 7, but the newest don't.

  • Oracle Xe 10g Service dies using P6 V7

    Anyone can help please.....
    We are using Oracle XE 10g on a Windows 2003 SP2 server with Primavera P6 V7.0 (no service packs)
    All installed OK and successfully connected to the database.
    Overnight, it appears that the service died. Restarting both the listener and Oracle XE services enabled us to log back in OK. However, the service still just dies at seemingly random times. When we look at services it says they both running.

    Hi,
    I am facing a strange issue with Oracle WebLogic 10g R3.
    I use the code as shown in Listing 1 below to run a windows based application exe (batch job) from within my web application hosted on Oracle WebLogic 10g Release 3.
    Note that this code woks fine on Tomcat 6.x and OC4J (JDeveloper TP4).
    The exec gets executed but the log of the exe program shows it could not load certain DLLs.
    Note that these DLLs are in the same directoy as the Batch program and this directory is in the PATH.
    Running through simple Java Program Successful*
    When I run the same program from a java program it runs successfully. So this means some WebLogic environment does not get set properly.
    Running directly BatchProg.exe rather than cmd.exe fails*
    Also note that when I run the exe directly e.g. BatchProg.exe rather than through cmd.exe it gives me a error the system did not find the file specified.
    CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified with cause java.io.IOException: CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified
    Listing 1:*
    String[] commandArgs = new String[|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/] { "cmd.exe", "/C", "BatchProg.exe \"param1\" \"param2\" " },null , l_workingDir)
    Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process proc;
    proc = rt.exec( commandArgs, envParams, workingDir );
    ProcessIO errStream = new ProcessIO( proc.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
    ProcessIO outStream = new ProcessIO( proc.getInputStream(), "OUTPUT");
    errStream.start(); // process any errors from the command
    outStream.start(); // process any output from the command
    System.out.println("Error=" +errStream);
    System.out.println("Out" + outStream);
    return (p_waitToFinish ? proc.waitFor() : this.SUCCESS);

    OK.
    I have posted this on the WebLogic Forum.
    Thanx.

  • Connect to MS-SQL Server from a Oracle 10g running under Solaris

    Hi,
    I have the following problem. I want to access a MS-SQL server from an Oracle database (10g Enterprise licence) that is running on Solaris.
    After googling a while, the following questions arise:
    - Is it correct that the Oracle Transparant Gateway for the SQL Server is not available on Solaris platforms (but only on Windows)?
    - Is it right, that the second possibility to solve this problem is to use an SQL-Server odbc driver for Solaris and access the SQL-Server over ODBC? And: Is this feature included in the Enterprise licence?
    - If yes, which driver is good and cheap ;-)?
    - Is there any other way to solve this problem?
    Thanks
    Aron

    I believe the Transparenet Gateway for SQL Server is available on Solaris. The problem is that you need a Unix based ODBC driver which you will also need to pay for.
    We had this same problem and decided to run a windows based Heterogeneous Services gateway and routed through it instead of using the SQL Server transparent gateway. The Heterogenous severives gateway is NOT an add on product (as is Transparent Gateway). The drawback would be performance as I would expect the native MS SQL transparent gateway to perform better, but in our case it worked acceptably.

    This tells me you are using a 3rd party or locally developed Java Bean to perform some type of print function. Is this correct?
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: java.io.IOException: open HTTP connection failed.Does your printtext.jar Java Bean need to open an HTTP connection in order to print?
    Have you been able to print in the past using this Java Bean? Where did you get the Java Bean?

    Honestly, you need to list the following minimum information when you post a question; it gives us all or most of the information we need to help you and it eliminates the need for us to ask for this information. Please always include:
    * Forms Version (eg; 10.1.2.0.0 not 10g)

    I've select from Oracle Universal Installer the default setings (Enterprise option and orcl database name) ;
    In Computer Management-> Services I have only "OracleOraDb10g_home1TNSListener"
    service; The "Orcl" database services has been removed when I hit the "Abort" option (when I received ORA-12514 error);
    Anyone can iluminate me with this problem?
    A few months ago I've installed the 10g product version with no error!
    Before I try to install 10g relese 2(beta), I read plenty of documentation about installing the new verision of 10g release 2, and I removed any trace from old 10g Oracle (directories, registry, environment variabile,etc)
    The problem is that I can't install now even the old 10g version!
    I've tried on another Pc (this PC, let's say "never hear before the word ORACLE" and have the same config winXP+sp2) ..and again the same ORA-12514 error appear!
    Because I could install the old 10g on my T43 laptop a few mounths ago with no error, I think the only explanation is that the windows updates, which I 've upgrade my laptop in this time cause the Oracle instalation/create database services to crush!
    Am I right...? what can I do? ... I realy need the ORACLE 10g to move on it, my old Oracle 9 databases, and continue my development work!
    Thanks! Have a nice day!
    XaM

    I see your tnsnames.ora does not contain an entry for service_name srvdzt43 , so EZCONNECT (or hostname) resolution is used, this is possible because service_name and hostname are the same.
    There's a known problem with EZCONNECT connections, if a connect string is provided, but no password (throws ORA-12514), maybe there's something like that in the DB creation scripts.
    I recommend you add a proper connect string into tnsnames.ora and try again.

    What should i do? I hope there is solution for it other than installing another linux flavor.

    On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, the installation will pass the operating system prerequisite checks if you change each 10 or 11 to 9 in the /etc/SuSE-release file. Ensure that you replace the original values in the /etc/SuSE-release file after the Oracle installation is complete.
    Original value: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86)
    Changed value: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (x86)
