Oracle XE on Win32 XP Pro

Hi,
I am able to install Oracle XE on win32, windows XP Professional SP3. I can access the apex home page when I am not connected to the network. I connect to a wireless network and everything works fine if I am not connected to a network. The moment I enable my WLAN, the database i.e., the TNSlistener and the OracleXE service continue to run, however, my Apex webapp is no more accessible using a web browser like Internet Explorer and Mozilla(SeaMonkey 2.1) on port 8080. I am on a Windows Workgroup and not on a Windows Domain.
Please advise and help me fix this.
Regards,
R2D2.

I have similar issue.
I can not access "http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex" when my LAN cable is connected.
But when I dis-connect the LAN, the page loads but without images and the most of links do not work.
I think its due to my apex installation.
Please help.

  • Oracle 9i on Windows XP Pro

We are looking at installing Oracle 9i (Release 2) on a desktop here for testing purposes. We used to have Oracle installed on a 2000 Pro machine but we had a lot of problems with it and were informed that it was known that Windows 2000 Pro and Oracle didnt get along.
I am trying to find out if there is similar problems with Oracle 9i and Windows XP Pro. Are there any issues that I should know of?
    Thanks in advance.
    Trevor

    Trevor,
I doubt there are any problems with 9i on XP that can't be handled. I used it for some time on that same OS without problems though I didn't do a great amount of work with it. Check the release notes they should say something about that.

  • Oracle 9i in windows XP Pro

    Hi,
I was installing oracle 9i in windows XP Pro and it hung in half of the installation and none of the products were fully installed , so i can uninstaller to unistall to product. Now I am not able to remove the folder and it says some of the application is using the oci.dll .. How can i reinstall the products.
Thanks in Advance. Any help is appreciated.

Did you ever work out how to sort this out - I have the same problem!
The only thing I can think of doing is unregistering all the DLL's, and clearing any Oracle installed files and registry entries, but it's not a great solution.

  • Does Oracle 8i personal edition has Pro*C ?

Does Oracle 8i personal edition has Pro C precompiler in it? I installed Oracle 8i but removed it long back so forgot if it has ProC in it... If its not there, is it available somewhere to download from? Thanks.

Oracle8i client installation will provide you with the Pro*C pre-compiler.

  • Views in Oracle Lite on Win32 Client

    Hi,
I've created an Oracle Forms application to work with Oracle Lite on the Win32 Client. When creating the application using wtgpack on the Mobile Server, I successfully created snapshots for the 7 tables in the database. After synchronization (msync), all 7 tables are created in the client's Lite database and all data are available. The Oracle Forms application works perfectly.
BUT: I have to add a view now, a very simple one, joining 2 of the 7 tables. I created this view in the Server database, and tried to use wtgpack to force the view creation on the client's Lite database. When selecting Web-to-Go in wtgpack's "Available Platform" window, a "DDL" tab appears. But my application isn't Web-to-Go platform, but Win32 only. The "DLL" tab is not available when selecting Win32 as platform. How can I force wtgpack to add my view to the application?
I tried to add the view definition to the "dlls.sql" file in the \repository\app\sql directory .. but the client doesn't get it.
I tried to create a snapshot in wtgpack (because when using "import" it only shows tables, not views) and type the view definition there .. but the client doesn't get it too.
Any ideas how the view can be created on the client's Lite database?
    Thanks in advance!
    Dirk

    Dirk
You dont need to do anything on the lite database.
Here are the steps for pulling the data from enterprise database.
    1. Install the client -win32 sdk on the client machine. This is used to access lite database because it installs msql, lite drivers etc.
    2. Create snapshots using wtgpack. You can create all the Enterprise database snapshots, views, sequences etc.
    3. Generate the Jar file using wtgpack
    4. Publish the jar file in the mobile server.
    5. Create some users and give access to this application.
    6. Access the server from ur machine: http://[mobileserveripaddress]/setup
    7. Download the Mobile Client for Web-to-Go
    8. Run the setup.exe
    9. Enter using the username, password given to access this application.
    10. Click sync on the menu
It automatically creates the database and pulls all the data.
You dont need to do anything.
Access the database from msql like this:
    msql system/[password]@polite:[urdatabase]
    or
    msql system/[password]@polite:[DSN]
DSN gets created automatically. check ur ODBC settings.(enter odbcad32 on ur command prompt to see these settings)
Refer the documentation..sometimes its hazy but its easy once we do it...
    happy weekend....

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

  • Can't install oracle 9i on win XP pro

I've successfully downloaded oracle 9i Db (enterprise). I've tried to install it on three different pc (Dell dimension 4400) with same os (windows xp pro). Everything works fine, except only for one of them : when I try run setup.exe, nothing happens, I don't even get a single error message.
Does anyone have an answer to this?
    Thanks!

I had the same problem on my Windows 2000 Professional machine installing 8i Client
The company dba got the following file from Oracle p1507768_171_WINNT_F.zip this file unzips the oracle universal installer. Once I had an installer I could point to the products.jar file on my CD and install the Oracle 8i Client. When I then went to upgrade to 9i I had to remove the 8i universal installer before I could double click on the 9i setup.exe for it to install. - this is in the installation documentation.
My problem is that I had to reconfigure my machine and I can't get the above to work again for me.
    - The universal installer had a problem with the jrew.exe file - so I put a newer version up there and changed the oraparam.ini to point to the new jre directory - the installer now works but I can't uninstall it. I would apprecitate any help as well.

  • Limit the Oracle query run time using Pro*C

    All,
I would like to limit my sql query for say a duration of only 10-15 secs. I do not want to kill the oracle process but send a signal to the C program with some message that " its taking more time"
Is there an param which I can use it to limit, without killing or shutting down the oracle session or process.
    Thanks in advance

My answer is only for 1. problem (about ORA-01458)
I think that you use declaration for cursor C0 with a varchar
variable before you ininitialize length (member .len of varchar
    structure) of this variable.
It's famous that many errors come from uninitialized varchar
    variables in Pro*C.

  • Execute Oracle Java Stored Procedure in Pro*C

I found this is a very usefull example of calling Java procedure via Pro*C module. You could find the source and instructions at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/travel/travelschema.htm#user.
Some minor issues arose during installation of C/C++ environment. I use MS Visual Studio 6 and it works just fine. Also you have to be very observant when modifying "procCallJSP.bat" file where SETing environment variables.
I found some flaw in Pro*C "procCallJSP.pc" script. During the execution of "procCallJSP.exe", when you provide not numeric argumet at the command prompt (eg. ` ) it puts the program to infinite loop. It needs an additional check to eliminate such kind of typing. The change needs to applied at line # 142 in "procCallJSP.pc". Other then that it works OK.

  • Oracle Forms 6i and QuickAddress Pro V3

    Hi,
Has anyone got any experience calling QuickAddress Pro V3 from Forms 6i? Some example code would be really helpful!
    Thanks

    Hello,
I you follow the Note:338513.1 on Metalink, you can see the following:
Forms / Reports 6i patchset 16 or patchset 17 was certified to work against Oracle Server (RDBMS)+
    +10g Rel 1 (10.1.x)+
Forms / Reports 6i has never been certified, nor will it ever be certified against Oracle Server (RDBMS) 10g Rel 2 (10.2.x) or Oracle Server (RDBMS) 11g (11.x).
+(This is because Forms / Reports 6i is now de-supported - see important note below)+
Important Note: Forms / Reports 6i is now de-supported e.g.
    - If running in client-server mode, Forms / Reports 6i was desupported at end of January 2005
    - If deploying over the web, Forms / Reports 6i (Oracle 9iAS Rel 1 Forms / Reports Services) was desupported at the end of June 2004
This means that Forms / Reports development will no longer provide an error correction service for Forms / Reports 6i (unless an organisation has purchased extended maintenance support) Therefore, Oracle strongly recommends that customers using desupported versions upgrade to a supported version e.g upgrade to Oracle Developer Suite 10g Rel 1 or 2 / Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 1 or 2

  • Running oracle programs on a Mac Pro??

Hello I currently use a HP laptop for work (provided by my employer. Most of the programs on my computer run on the windows platform. For example, I currently use LIMs (laboratory information management systems), JDE, Lotus Notes (webmail) and Kronos (time entry management for direct reports). Some of the software, such as the ones I listed, were developed by oracle. My question is " Has anyone used programs such as LIMs, Kronos or JDE on a Mac. I am very interested in purchasing a Mac pro but have yet to know if anyone has used such programs on a Mac. If anyone has, I would greatly appreciate any input.

  • Oracle locator - chapter 12 in pro orcale spatial

I am trying to launch the sample application of chapter 12 pro orcale spatial book (by Ravi kothuri) . But I am getting the following error.
    Errors compiling:C:\OC4J\j2ee\home\application-deployments\MapViewer\web\persistence\_pages\_spatial_2d_book\_sample_2d_app\_SAMPLEAPPLICATION.java
    package oracle.spatial.geometry does not exist import oracle.spatial.geometry.*;
    package oracle.spatial.network does not exist import oracle.spatial.network.*;
    cannot resolve symbol symbol : class Network location: class spatial2d_book._sample_2d_app._SAMPLEAPPLICATION Network net = (Network) session.getAttribute("NetworkHandle");
When I saw the jsp code for this application it imports the following .
    <%@ page import="oracle.lbs.mapclient.MapViewer" %>
    <%@ page import="oracle.spatial.geometry.*" %>
    <%@ page import="oracle.spatial.network.*" %>
I did try to Create a new user environment variable called class path and include path to sdoapi.jar,sdoutl.jar/classes12.jar
but i still get the error . Could somebody help me please.

I'm not sure if book mentions using MapViewer 10.1.2 rather than 9.0.4 for the Network stuff, but, MapViewer 10.1.2 is the first version to add the capability for rendering networks using the Oracle10g Spatial Network model. This of course is also supprted in the documentation (below):
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_01/web.904/b10559/toc.htm (9.0.4)
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_01/web.1012/b14036/toc.htm (10.1.2)
An easy way to test this out would be to download the MapViewer 10.1.2 Quickstart Kit (which includes a ready-to-run standalone OC4J with MapViewer 10.1.2 pre-deployed and configured):
