Oracle XE on Windows x64

Hello, is possible to install Oracle Express Edition on Windows x64 ? When I try to install I get error "Error: 1719 The Windows Installer Service could not be acessed"

Hi,
In fact, Oracle didn’t have a x64 version for Oracle XE, but usually 32 bits softwares run without problems in x64 platforms ... Have you checked out if is there any O/S user's privilege issue related to this problem?
Cheers

  • Oracle Express Database - Windows x64

At the risk of being seriously repetitive, I'll post a question I have seen in various forms for approximately 3.5 years. The user community needs to have a specific, fact-based answer to the problem of no x64 support on Windows. In several threads one can find via Google, people purporting to be Oracle representatives claim a supported version will be available "soon". Soon in my neck of the woods generally means a time frame less than 3 years, but what do I know. Can someone please, please provide a definitive statement of direction on this issue, and assuming this is coming "soon", it would be overwhelmingly wonderful to have a specific date. My company plans/desires/hopes to release software that would embed an Oracle Express db, and frankly I'm about to throw in the towel if I can't get some visibility to this question. As I've heard from many ex customers, "there's always Sql Server".
Regards, Roger Carter, President, DBConnect Solutions, Inc.

Thanks for the update. I followed up with Oracle internally via our Oracle Partnership channel, and they checked with the VP of development responsible for XE. The official response is "there is no date where this will be provided for Windows x64. It is, however, under consideration." In my 25+ years of working with Oracle, I will give you my translation - it is not going to happen anytime soon, and to your point, it will probably be version 12 before you see anything. For us, this is a huge disappointment, and it means we will be abandoning many thing with Oracle. It's my view that they don't care about this vertical one bit.

  • Install Oracle 10gR2 on Windows x64

Is this possible to install Oracle 10gR2 on Windows 2008 x64 ?
I though that there aren't any difference between 2003 and 2008, but during reading this presentation:
http://www28.cplan.com/cbo_export/PS_S291788_291788_176-1_FIN_v2.pdf (login: cboracle pass: oraclec6) I saw that installation on Windows 2008 is "PLANNED"?! Can someone explain more?

    tutus wrote:
So what thas mean planned? You'd have to ask Christian Shay (apparent author of the document) but given that the document is nearly two years old and 10g is now entering 'sustaining' support without having been certified on Win 2008, I'd guess it means their "plans" changed.

  • Hyperion Planning on Oracle DB 11.1.0.6.0(Microsoft Windows (x64))

    1. Is Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 certified to work on Oracle DB 11.1.0.6.0 (Microsoft Windows (x64)) ?
    2. Is Oracle Database 11.1.0.6.0(Microsoft Windows (x64) certified to work on Windows 7 Pro 64bit ?

You also do realize Hyperion Planning/Essbase/... is not supported on Windows 7 Pro. If you wish to install on a supported operating system install on Windows 2003 Server x64.
Yes, 11.1.0.6 is supported as a database for Hyperion 11.1.1.3 - review the certification matrices for Hyperion at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html
No, Windows 7 is not a supported platform for 11.1.0.6 databas - review http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/b32305.pdf
You can also located supported platforms with say 5 minute software with say 10 minutes of using google. If you do not have this much time to put towards the installation then you should not be installing as you should review all installation documentation before proceeding as it is at least a full day activity to do it properly (even after you have done it 20-30 times).

  • Cannot install oracle 10g on Windows 7 64-bit

    Hello,
I downloaded from edelivery.oracle.com the following version:
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4.0) for Microsoft Windows Vista X64 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 X64 (5 parts)I unzipped the 5 zip files and started the file ./database/setup.exe. The program cannot recognize my OS - it needs to see version 5.0, 5.1 or 6.0, I have 6.1. I started setup.exe with Win Vista SP2 compatibility and I can see then the first step of the Installation Manager. I choose there the installation type - basic or advanced. No matter which one I choose, the installation manager closes itself and does not continue.
Any ideas what I can do? Have I downloaded the right version? Another possibility was
    Oracle® Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows x64 DVD (4 parts)

Yes you can. You need to tweak the file oraparam.ini There are at least two lines you either need to add or change. The first is
    Windows=5.0,5.1,5.2,6.0,6.1
    I added the 6.1
    Next is
    [Windows-6.1-optional]
    I added that below
    [Windows-6.0-optional]
Setup will now run. During the install you will get a warning about the OS version but you can "OK" your way through it. Here is the entire contents of the file after changes

  • Trouble installing Oracle Personal in Windows 7 64-bit environment

Hi, I just purchased Oracle Personal Edition and it does not install.
    Details:
    Hardware: Dell laptop, purchased 6/2011
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-2820QM 2.30 GHz, 8 processors
    RAM: 8GB real, 16GB virtual
Hard drive available space: 119 GB on C: drive, 505 GB on D: drive
Product purchased: Oracle Personal Edition, 11.2.0.1.0 for Windows x64 (64-bit)
I originally had an instance of Oracle XE on this machine. I have uninstalled it with Windows Uninstall and followed that up with the following actions in Regedit:
    Deleted the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE key.
    Deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*
    Removed directories c:\Oraclexe and c:\Program Files\Oracle
    Rebooted.
I downloaded the two Oracle server files from the cloud, extracted the zipped directories, copied "2 of 2"'s contents to the "1 of 2"'s directory, and ran setup.exe
Oracle Installer started up. The first screen asked for my email address and whether I wanted to receive Oracle propaganda by email (no).
The second screen, Installation Option, asked if I wanted to 1: create and configure a database; 2: install database software only; or 3: upgrade an existing database. I chose option 1.
The third screen, System Class, asked if I wanted a Desktop Class database or Server Class database. I chose Desktop Class.
I clicked Next and Oracle Installer shut down without a warning message.
Does anybody have an idea of how I can install this software?

Yes, the purpose of this license was just to use Oracle for my own personal use. Downloading a copy of Enterprise Edition from OTN won't solve the problem; it's the same file as the Personal Edition file, and that file doesn't work on my computer. The installer prompts for the type of installation (Personal, Standard, Enterprise) around step 4 or 5 of the install, and I never made it past step 3. The problem is that the installer crashes without leaving any error message, which means I can't fix the problem. I have no way of knowing that the installer couldn't handle my computer configuration, but I do know that my computer exceeds the minimum requirements for an install. Someone at Oracle should consider it a BUG that the installer shuts down without any indication of the reason for the shutdown. I requested a refund not because the product has a bug, but because the installer didn't work. A product that doesn't install is a product that hasn't been delivered to the customer. This is a very, very basic problem that Oracle must fix.

I have checked that. but i also say that oracle 10g (10.2.0.4 ) support for windows server 2008 r2 X64.
    Windows Server 2008 x64
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4 or later) for Windows x64 is certified on Windows Server 2008 x64 (all editions). 32-bit Oracle Database Client (10.2.0.4) and higher versions are supported on Windows Server 2008 x64.
I don'y think it's problem of os version or oracle version. Because when we purchase we asked from them what is the recommended version for our os. they told that 10g 10.2.0.4 is ok. previously i have installed this successfully. But now i can't.
however thanks for tried to help me. if u can find out any other reason\s please late me know..
    thank you very much.

  • How to install apex on windows x64 with 10gR2?

    Hello,
today I tried to install the http-server for our 10gR2-database. We are using windows x64.
But I cant find OHS for this release. How can I install apex then?
    Regards,
    Mark

have you tried the installation, or did you just ask in advance?
in the last wekks i did a lof of installation stuff on an x64 system using the old x32 versions. even oracle sw like 10.2.0.3 client etc.
and most oft the stuff was up and running just like on an x32 system.
just keep in mind that the directory structure an x64 is slightly different #
if u install x32 software the default installation path is "C:\Program Files (x86)" and in the registry a speacial key hklm\software\wow6432node
just in case you need to patch.
in my opinion it would be worth to give i a try, but remember not on a productive system.
i'd like to hear about your results
    regards peter

  • Oracle 32 on Windows  64

    I'm new in Oracle.
Today i see that a client have a Oracle 10g 32 bit installed on Windows 64 bit.
He say me that oracle is not increase memory, and when it try with value close to 3,5 GB, the oracle give a error.
I think that the fact of Oracle is 32 bit, it not accept more memory ...
I think use AWE, beacause de Server Machine have 22GB of RAM...
My doubt is: AEW in this case is solution ? The machine and OS is 64, but only Oracle not... (This is possible ?)
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum,
It is not clear for me if you talk about oracle client only....
But if yes. You should use 64 bit 11gR2 oracle client no matter if your database is 10g only.
Or you can try to migrate your database to [url http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201winx64soft-090882.html]Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (x64)
Or use AWE see [url http://www.dba-oracle.com/oracle_tips_ram_waste.htm]here

  • Error: SAP installation of ERP Sr3 with ORACLE 10g on Windows 2008 server

    Dear all,
while installaing SAP ERP SR3 with ORACLE 10g on windows 2008 server...
we are getting error as not support.
please confirm wether this version of OS is uspported or not.
    thanking you in all,
    by
    Animesh

actualy we tried to change Oraparam.ini file in the installation folder...
    edited ...  windows= 5.0, 5.1, 6.0
    we had entered 6.0
    Yes - that is necessary.
and started ... but after starting we are getting ERROR like unKNOWN and installation popup (OUI popup) exiting with .. error popup.
Yes - because Oracle delivers its own Java version - which is too old to run on Windows 2008.
if you suggest us to use 2003 64 bit for temporaray .... purpose.
and is there any specified procedure to UPgrade OS.
like... DB should be updated before OS upgradation.
You can run 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003 x64 nicely and upgrade to Windows 2008. Since there is no "upgrade" (it is the highest version supported) there´s no need to do anything.
The question you have to ask is:
Why do you need Windows 2008? Is there any technical implication?
