Oracle XE - users

I use Oracle XE with APEX to develop an application and I would like to be able to get into this application both as a developer and as a simple user.
I would like the developer to modify the application, when needed, using ''developer'' password, and the simple user - with ''user'' password - to just operate it.
I do not know how to create these two users - in parallel - with different privileges and different passwords. Could you please give me some hints, or maybe a link to documentation.
Thank you !

Which version of Apex are you using ?
The one that came with XE has the Apex user and database user tied together.
The 3.x that you can apply on top of XE doesn't. In that environment you have a database user/schema tied to zero or more workspaces.
Within that workspace you can have admin users, developers and 'normal' users. Admin users can create more users in that workspace. Developer users can create pages etc. Users can just run the applications in that workspace. Those three classes of Apex users are completely separate from database users (ie don't exist outside the Apex environment, so you don't do grants for them etc).
I'd recommend upgrading the default Apex.

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

Reengineering Desktop Thick Workgroups into Web
    Rich Enterprise Clients
Bryan Hall, Spatial Architect, L-3 Communications
Jeff Walawender, Senior Software Engineer, L-3 Communications
Cost cutting requires reengineering spatial solutions to directly address business requirements. But enterprise computing for spatial data has, with even "Web 2.0", required the user to lose the responsiveness and feedback that traditional desktop thick client GIS software has provided. We took a different approach in the re-engineering effort and concentrated on making it work as much like a traditional desktop thick client - while simplifying use, making editing more reliable, and actually speeding up rendering. All this, while only supporting one versioned Oracle Spatial database, and application tier for all users.

  • Required Oracle FND tables for Discoverer Install (Oracle App user)

Hi does anyone know of set documentation or, via SQL Trace, which existing tables Discoverer looks for when setting up an EUL? For instance, our install requires you select the Oracle Apps User Schema and put in the password for that schema where your FND tables reside.
Assuming some are missing in our current setup, what would be required in order for Discoverer to work in conjunction with the Oracle applications roles and responsibilities, etc.
I found this list in Discoverer documentation and confirmed I know have that setup correctly with proper grants, etc.. The EUL is created but does return an error of "Table or View does not Exist" which can be passed over and you can proceed into the EUL - but there is an error upon logging into EUL.
grant select on FND_USER to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_APPLICATION to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_USER_RESPONSIBILITY to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_RESPONSIBILITY_VL to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_ORACLE_USERID to &EULOWNER
grant select on FND_DATA_GROUP_UNITS to &EULOWNER
This is Discoverer 10g and Oracle 10g database.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Rod,
I have confirmed that the Discoverer Administrator Responsibility has Administration, Desktop & Plus privelages.
Furthermore, the account I am trying to login as - DSCADMIN has those permissions and is assigned that responsibility as well.
It should be noted that when logging into the EUL as the DSCADMIN account, it prompts me to create a new EUL as one does not exist....however under the EUL ADMIN account (where the EUL was created), it recognizes the EUL since it is the owner.
Am I missing something further - I've been through the documentation several times and can't figure this out - I have continually made progress but then hit a speed bump each time.
It should also be noted that DSCADMIN is a database user schema account and also an Apps user as well - but this is how it was setup in our old enviornment so I wouldn't think this would make a difference.

  • Driver for oracle enterpririse user

does creating a connection pool in weblogic for oracle enterprise user needs any special driver? ,
I can create connection pool for any normal user but if it is enterprise user connection to database is denied , what care should I take for an enterprise user ,
as for my database knowlwdge I donot know the difference between normal user and enterprise user , why enterprise user connection id different ?

That's an awfully old Oracle version - unless your company is paying out their rear-end, I doubt Oracle supports it at all. Even Oracle Technology Network only goes back as far as Oracle 8i (AKA 8.1).
I doubt you'll be able to find such an old driver and if you do, I'd wonder about how well it might work with any recent (last several years) JVM.
Why are you stuck with such an old version?

  • Identify user logged in discoverer as a oracle apps user

    Hi Guys,
I am using web based to log in to discoverer as a oracle applications user. there is a report in one responsibility related to PO. My question is, can i catch the user who is logged in (his username or user ID) to be printed on the report.
    or
I created a report which can see the details of the requisition (req ID, line number, Requestor, Approver, Requestor Dept, PO Number, etc). My report should display only the requisitions created by the user who is logged in who will be the requestor here in this case. I cant pass requestor as the parameter. It should automatically take the user logged in as requestor and display only his requisitions on to the output.
    Help Appreciated.
    Thanks

use FND_GLOBAL.USER_NAME to get current user and pass it as parameter

If the answer is YES, I just need OVD do I need just to install OVD or do I need any other installation from OIM in order for it to work?

    Hi,
I am not sure that you are correct.
In the meantime, some one mentioned a white paper to read: "Directory Services Integration with Database Enterprise User Secuirty. In page 10 it mentions a scenario: EUS deployment using Active Directory and OVD
    (without OID).
The cons mentioned are: Need to extend AD schema to include EUS meta-data (which I am not sure how its done).

  • Importing Oracle DBUM User Management 9.1.0.0 Fails

I am trying to import the Oracle DBUM User Management 9.1.0.0 connector but am receiving the following error, "Unknown tag OBJ_OFFLINED recieved." Any ideas on what may be causing this?
    Thanks,
    Pete

You saw the response. I have written over there but if you don't get pass through then you might need to correct version conflict.
By the way I tried it many times and this works fine, just by removing these 2 occurrences of OBJ_OFFLINED and PRF_CASE_INSENSITIVE. Are you sure you did this clean and doesn't mixed up anything else. Also MST stores the Task to Object Status mapping, why is that showing an error ?

    Hello,

    I've installed oracle rdbms 8.0.6 on HP-UX 10.20.
I've choosen o.s. authentication system with password file.
In the password file I set the password of the os user oracle which owns installation.
In first time svrmgrl connect internal looks good.
But when I've changed oracle os user password, and i retry to do connect internal

    Password:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
I've tried to reset the password to the old one, but it's unuseful
    Could someone help me?

In the password file I set the password of the os
user oracle which owns installation. The Password for the password file is supposed to be the SYS password and not OS User oracle which owns installation.
I do not think the Oracle OS user password change is the problem. When you alter SYS password using the alter user command, it should change the password file automatically.
    Try
SVRMGR> connect sys/sys_password as see whether it works. If it does not, then check other issues.

  • Created EUL - Oracle Apps users only

    Hello, all!
An EUL was previously created and the Oracle Apps users only was checked, which was supposed to be not. Business areas and folders were already created and i want to reuse all. Is there a way i can change the EUL to make it not for oracle apps users (uncheck or something). I tried exporting the eul but got an error ORA-00942 - table or view does not exist.
    Thanks in advance.

Pl post details of OS, database and EBS versions.
You cannot disable/expire seeded EBS accounts (such as AK, ALR, AMF etc).
