ORACLE-- XI-- SAP

hi
    XI experts,
i am sending data from oracle(jdbc)>xi>sap(bapi fm ).
i am getting success mesage at sxmb_moni & rwb.
but i am not able to see the data in the r/3  side.
thanks
kalyan

It might be the case  that ur RFC at receiver end is not performing the task properly. If it is successfully both in moni and in RWB for receiver, then this is not related to XI. U may tr testing ur RFC again

  • Connecting ORACLE 10G, SAP R/3 to Xcelsius dashboard

    Dear All,
I have a scenario with a customer, where in we have to develop an XCelsius dashboard over Oracle 10g source. Customer is keen on building dashboards directly on top of Oracle 10G (or) SAP R/3.
Could you please let me know - which approach is good for Performance of Dash boards?
    1)ORACLE 10G>NON SAP Universe>WEBI Report>Live Office> XCelsius
    2)Oracle 10GSAP R/3 (Using of Data Services)>ABAP Function Module>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office> XCelsius.
    3)Oracle 10G>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office-->XCelsius
    Thanks and regards,
    Raghu

    HI Raghu,
    1)ORACLE 10G>NON SAP Universe>WEBI Report>Live Office> XCelsius
Here we can make use of the background scheduling of webi reports and use latest instance if the volume of data is more in the tables.
As webi is a very good tool we can consolidate data and optimise the performence of the dashboard..
Note: Universe designing should be done very carefully.
    2))Oracle 10g/SAP R/3 (Using of Data Services)>ABAP Function Module/Infoset>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office> XCelsius.
    SAP R/3>function module/Infoset>Crystal repotrs 2008->liveoffice>dashboard.
Here we can make use of the background scheduling of Crystal reports and use latest instance if the volume of data is more in the tables.
it is good if you implement all the logic in ABAP side and simplify the  work at Crystal report side so that the dashboard performence is good if the refresh option is ONDEMAND.
    Note: ABAP consultant is needed.
    3)Oracle 10G>Crystal Reports2008>Live Office-->XCelsius
In this case you have to implement all you logic in Crystal reports and schedule the data and use latest instance for better performence of the dashboard.
Decision has to be made depending on the volume of data logic behind report to display the final data..
if you are using webi in ur flow you can have better staging and adhoc analysis can be given to the user .
Case 2 is also good if ur making every thing at ABAP level .
    i dnt suggest 3rd case.
    Hope this helps you ..

  • Authorization for Administation ofr oracle for SAP

    Hi,
I want to know the transactions & authorizations required to administrate the oracle from SAP frontend.
It is very helpful for me if anyone give me link or tell me from where I can start?
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    Rajesh,
Indeed, you can do very little from the SAP gui as far as administration is concerned. However, you can get useful information on the database status
db02 : Tablespace sizes, history, critical objects, missing indexes
    db03: Oracle parameters
    db12: Backup logs
db13: Other database administration job logs and scheduling
db17: Configure what is being checked during jobs like database checks
db20: Influence how stats are calculated
st04: Memory information on the database
    I hope this helps

  • Good book for Oracle with SAP

We run SAP on Oracle 9.
We lost our dba for oracle / sap.
I am a sql server person and new to oracle.
Can anyone recommend any good books on just oracle or even

    Thanks,

  • Oracle to SAP BI with BCS u2013 Best Data flow Design.

    Hi,
We are a SAP implementation team. We are @ Blue Print stage. My client is a RETAIL Business Gaint. Client has 50 % of Transaction data and Master data in Oracle data base. Now we are moving to BI 7.0 and also has plans to use SAP-BCS.
We would like to map all the existing Oracle tables to BI. Provide any clue regarding the best Data flow (From Oracle 10G to BI 7.0).
Your quick and valuable suggestion/ links are highly appreciated.
    Warm Regards,
    Bab

    Hi Ashok,
You have mentioned that you have a Oracle 10g  system as a data inflow which perfectly sets the platform to extract the data from the Oracle  system to SAP BW system.
This Can be done through the DB connect ,through where you could select the necessary tables and form them as a datasource in BI system, further creating the usual BI objects on top of the DS.
Once the Data is in BI ,we could pull the BI cube or form a replica of the cube in BCS application format to use it in the BCS environment.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Rajesh.

  • DB on Aix/Oracle, CI Sap on Windows : supported or not ?

I'm looking for informations about a scenario where the Database is on Oracle/Aix, while the Sap central Instance is on Windows 2003 64 bit.
I found note 80266, but it refers to a link on sapnet now replaced with the advise to come here in SDN.
I'm not able to find out the white paper indicated on the note : "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous R/3 Systems".
I found several notes, but it seems they refers always to the installation of secondary R/3 As on Windows while the  R/3 CI is on Unix as well the database.
    Any advise ?

    Thansk for the feedback.
My doubt is that, as I remember, during a distributed installation of the DB istance the sapinst will ask to access some directory from the R/3 central Instance host.
Do I have to install SAMBA on the unix side just for the installation phase ? Or I can do some workaround to avoid to use SAMBA ?

  • Data base oracle in SAP

    Hi,
The combination of all dimension id's ideally make the primary(composite) key of the fact table.
it seems that there is a database restriction of 16 fields to be combined to make a joint primary key.
I heard that Oracle table join relation is the restriction of 16. I mean foregn key relations from a table ( fact table ) can not exceede 16. and thus we have 16 dimensions as the restriction..
It is ORacle limitation.. ( data base )
Any data base can not have more than 16 Fields as primary key in a table and hence 16 dimentions as MAX limit..for our facttable / cube.In database tables level we have only 16 primary keys, thats the reason why we hav 16 dimensions in infocube.
( remember oracle is the database we use for SAP ).
    Rds
    vairava ganesh.G

Yes, you understand the issue.  Not sure about all the other DBs, I think they have 16 column index limits as well.  Even if one of them would support more columns in the index, I doubt SAP would reengineer the BW to support them, until/unless that DB had a major portion of the BW installations.

  • Installing Oracle for SAP on existing non-SAP RDBMS

The title says it all -
I haven't been able to find any real docs supporting or not supporting the practice of using an existing Oracle 10.2 RDBMS to add an SAP DB.  I know it's technically possible, but since the SAP Oracle installer is configured to build a new RDBMS for each SAP instance/DB installation, I'm wondering if it can be altered and piggy back on an existing one.
The reason is I have a customer who would like to do this so they can continue to use an existing DEV Oracle server without adding the stress of an indepedent set of oracle binaries running, and consuming resources.

    > But aside from that - let's assume the release and patch levels from their own DBs are equal to the requirements from SAP.  What other considerations/issues/supportabilty problems might be encountered?
If it's not a production system you could certainly go for it.
I think though, that it's MUCH LESS maintenance work using a second ORACLE_HOME than to try to fiddle with the huge amount of single/interim patches SAP requires. If you just check
    Note 871096 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.2 (59 interim patches)
    Note 1137346 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.4 (39 interim patches)
I can imagine you having a pretty hard time aligning that with the other non-SAP databases. On top may come incompatibilities with OPatch (SAP uses a "special OPatch") where you may need to switch between the official one and the "SAP-one" depending on which patch you install.
The only additional resources the new ORACLE_HOME uses is harddisk space (some GB) - which shouldn't be more expensive than the work you'll need to invest to keep the system and working for both.
Technically it can be done - certainly.
