COMISN1@oracle : /oracle > ls
COMISN1@oracle : /oracle > ls
.Xauthority 1207_cpu_db1_2nd.txt 1207_queue_db1_2nd.txt RDA/ dbmon/ mis_sys.dmp oraInventory/
.Xauthority 1207_cpu_db1_2nd.txt 1207_queue_db1_2nd.txt RDA/ dbmon/ mis_sys.dmp oraInventory/
DBMS : Oracle 10g 3 Node RAC(10.2.0.2)
OS : Linux imdbms2 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Mon Sep 19 18:00:54 EDT 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux( Redhat AS 4.0 U2 )
Filesystem : OCFS2(SAN Shared Disk)
그럼 수고하세요.

그리고 이상한 건 해당 서버의 인스턴스를 내리고 올리면
당분간은 정상적으로 된다는 겁니다.

  • Oracle10g RAC vs Oracle9i RAC with WebLogic

Hello, I am planning on installing Oracle RAC on Redhat's Linux AS 3.0, while BEA's WebLogic will the application server.
What would you choose as the back end, Oracle9i RAC or Oracle10g RAC and why ?
Also, what release/patch-level (sp ??) of Linux A.S should be used ?
EMC's storage disk arrays sould be used. Is anyone aware of any I/O issues between Linux AS and EMC disks ?
    Thank you for your thoughts.
    Regards,
    Tom

Sun would not recommend using Oracle 10g RAC without Sun Cluster. Setup for that configuration would be found in the Sun Cluster Data Service for Oracle 10g RAC and the Oracle installation manuals.
The installation of Oracle Clusterware alone would be documented in Oracle's manuals. If you have any problems with that, you are better off asking Oracle.

  • Oracle10g RAC Cluster Interconnect issues

    Hello Everybody,
Just a brief overview as to what i am currently doing. I have installed Oracle10g RAC database on a cluster of two Windows 2000 AS nodes. These two nodes are accessing an external SCSI hard disk.I have used Oracle cluster file system.
Currently i am facing some performance issues when it comes to balancing workload on both the nodes.(Single instance database load is faster than a parallel load using two database instances).
I feel the performance issues could be due to IPC using public Ethernet IP instead of private interconnect.
(During a parallel load large amount of packets of data are sent over the Public IP and not Private interconnect).
How can i be sure that the Private interconnect is used for transferring cluster traffic and not the Public IP? (Oracle mentions that for a Oracle10g RAC database, private IP should be used for heart beat as well as transferring cluster traffic).
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Salil

    You find the answers here:
    RAC: Frequently Asked Questions
    Doc ID: NOTE:220970.1
At least crossover interconnect is completely unsupported.

  • Why we need CRS in Oracle10g RAC

When i am having third party cluster solution like Veritas(SFRAC for Oracle), why its not possible to configure Oracle10g RAC with Veritas without CRS ?????
Its possible in Oracle9i but why not in Oracle10g ????

    because ASM is there !!!
in 10g you do not have to use raw devices to store data files : you just use the ASM instance which comes free and provides the performance of the raw devices with the management capabilities of any filesystem
you only need to configure raw devices for the OCR and Voting Disk (but this is really simple !!! compared to the management problem of storing datafiles on raw (no autoextend , mapping and so on)

  • Solaris cluster, Oracle10g RAC

I just want to understand, which one is more favorable, most popular combination used by sun customers for Oracle10g RAC.
    1) Solaris cluster + VERITAS Storage Foundation
    2) Solaris cluster + QFS

Please refer to http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2574/fmnyo?a=view for the supported options for Oracle RAC data storage. This is important because if you stray outside these you will not be on a jointly Sun/Oracle supported configuration.
Therefore, if you want to put Oracle RAC (tablespace) data files on a cluster file system, you must use shared QFS as that is the only supported option open to you. Furthermore, you can only run sQFS on top of SVM/Oban or h/w RAID - we do not support running it on VxVM/CVM.

  • Recover Oracle10g RAC Database

    Hi,
Anyone know whether the below backup and restoration works for oracle10g RAC database. I can;t test it out as i don;t have an development environment. Please correct me if i am wrong.
1.) stop all oracle services running on the server
2.) use dd command to backup the raw partition to tape + backup oracle homes on all nodes
3.) Encountered Media failure, change the hardisks
    4.) create the raw partitions
5.) restore the raw partitions backup from tape + restore oracle binaries from tape
    6.) startup all oracle services
    7.) Done.
Thank You, anyone advice and comments are greatly appreciated..

Many thanks for your responses . I finally got it working . It does not require additionalconfigurational change apart from updating the ocr with oifcfg commands(metalink-Note 283684.1 ) i.e. deleting the old entry and setting he new one .
Where I got it wrong was I did not shutdown the nodeapps (which was not included in the metalink note ) before updating the ocr with oifcfg commands
    Thanks ..

  • Oracle10g RAC

    Hi,
    Can anyone help me,
Is there any problem for Oracle10g RAC running on Sun Solaris 10 using the latest SUN Containers feature?
    regards,
    Dilip.

Have a look at the Certify & Availability in Metalink for your Platform. Also the RAC Readme and documentation for Sun Solaris 10 will indicate if there are any known problems.
If in doubt and you are having any specific problems, I would suggest you open a TAR with Oracle Support.

I also set ORACLE_HOME environment variable before the configure commnad.
    yours truely
    Raja C
please give me suggestion to configure the oracle10g.

I was having horrible troubles installing Oracle XE on FC5 until I realized one thing -- I had upgraded packages.
You have to do the installs just as you want them off the CDs, then install Oracle XE, then upgrade your other packages. I'm not sure which one, but one of the upgrade packages breaks the XE install.
You would also have trouble with linking ntcontab if you were doing an oracle 10gR2 install with the upgraded set. I haven't figured out why yet but I spent all weekend on it ;)

  • RAC Linux DB Servers Shutdown When Patching from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7

    Hello.
We have been successfully running a RAC 11.1.0.6.0 64-bit DB on Linux Redhat DB servers. We have had this DB running RHEL version 4 at kernel version 2.6.9-78.0.1.ELsmp. We also had successfully installed the January 2009 family CPU patch. A few months ago we began building a new 64-bit 11.1.0.6.0 RAC cluster set. This new cluster was on a different OS (a patch level up - kernel version is 2.6.9.78.ELsmp (Update 7). To our knowledge, no other OS/HW differences existed between the older, first RAC cluster and the new (2nd) one.
After the SAs handed over the new RAC DB servers to us, we installed the 11.1.0.6.0 clusterware without problem. We then began to install the clusterware 11.1.0.7.0 patch. Here is the problem. When we patch the clusterware up to 11.1.0.7.0, the last thing we are supposed to do is run the root shell script. When we run this script, it starts and never retunrs. In fact, by initiating this script, the node on which it is running actually crashes/shuts down. It does not reboot. It shuts down and we actually have to literlaly go to that server and push the on-off button. We can repeat this on any of the nodes and all of the machines respond the same. We have repeated this cluster build three different times. The first time, the root script finished, but each of the nodes later began shutting down selectively afterwards and we'd have to restart them. On the 2nd and 3rd attempts, the root script would not finish and the node would crash.
Oracle support hinted that we needed to go to the install glibc-2.3.4-2.40 (or above) or upgrade to EL4u7. Well, we are at EL4u7 now and the version of glibc is glibc-2.3.4-2.41. We look fine on that front. They also indicated that we need to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of glibc. When we run "rpm -qa | grep -i glibc", we see:
    glibc-2.3.4-2.41:
    glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.41
    glibc-devel-2.3.4-2.41
    glibc-2.3.4-2.41:
We wonder as to why we see TWO (2) entries repeated. Does anyone know why? Also, how can one tell if both the 32 and 64-bit versions of glibc exist on our 64-bit machines? Does the fact that the above duplicate entries imply this?
MOE IMPORTANTLY, has anyone experienced this node/DB server crash when patching up from 11.1.0.6.0 to 11.1.0.7.0? We are out of answers on or end. We cannot even look at the system logs or the ocssd logs because the servers crash immediately upon restarting them.
    Thank you.
    Matt
    Matt

    Matt,
When I had this issue and the first node was going in to reboot loop, I remember I saw a message related to 'tick' of some kind. Based on that I thought the cluster is rebooting because of quorum issue with vote disk. So I thought if clusterware don't find vote disk then it will not start and no possibility of quorum issue that was leading to reboot. So I renamed the vote disk and OCR (which was not necessary though) and uninstalled and installed clusterware again.
In /etc/inittab OCCSD daemon is started at run level 3,5 with fatal option. That means if Cluster Synchronization Service (OCSSD daemon) gets terminated it reboot the server. If I had option of starting server to init 1 level, I would open /etc/inittab and comment out following lines and then start server in init 3 level and uninstall clusterware and install again.
    h1:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.evmd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
    h2:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.cssd fatal >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null
    h3:35:respawn:/etc/init.d/init.crsd run >/dev/null 2>&1 </dev/null

  • Genclntst fail in oracle10g RAC environment

After installation of oracle 10gR2 RAC on two-node solaris10 environment ,we need to run $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntst to generate the Client Static Library(libclntst10.a) but it failed .We copy another successfully generated libclntst10.a file from a non-RAC oracle10g environment running on solaris10.
and it seems to work correctly. is it really OK ?,is there any difference between the libclntst10.a file in a RAC environment and in a non-RAC environment ?
    thanks a lot.

    Hi,
In 11g you can use the instance_id job attribute to do this.
In 10g you can do this using services.
    - create a service for each instance
    - create a job class pointing to each service
    - grant execute on the job classes to all job owners that need to use them
    - when creating a job point to the job class for the service for the instance it should run on
Oracle recommends using services instead of instances since services are more flexible and can provide high-availability and fail-over in case one instance goes down.
    Hope this helps,
    Ravi.

    Hi all,
we have Oracle10g R1 (64 bit) running on RAC Unix. these servers (2 servers and 2 instance) are using RMAN and the logs are transfered to DR server ( only 1 server). i dun have any idea on how to create password file with this structure, originally we want to change SYS password. and how to create password file at both RAC server and DR server, make sure the logs be transmitted without problem to DR server.
would like to the exact procedure ...any idea?

Have not you created password file on Database and DG ? use orapwd command to create password file. Well changing password on Database side, is same simple procedure, but on DR you can change password in password file , but problem is how to change password on DR database. So only option remain is refresh DR Database !!!!
