Pl take a look at the Microsoft Patch issue.since we are
using flash in a big way. This has an impact on several applications
we support. We noticed the problem because we are using
non-applicable machines that already have the new patch applied.Any

Windows 2000 connector Patch issue (Patch ID: 8318738)
Hi,
We have applied the latest Windows 2000 connector Patch on our DEV environment.
While trying to provision the Windows resource (the user’s home network shared folder), effectively there is some permissions issue that is encountered while executing in the DLL and it effectively causes some page fault that prompts the OS to kill the process and the OC4J instance is restarted.

OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 Patch Issue
Hi folks,
I applied the latest OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 patch earlier today. This was for a standalone instance and I didn't encounter any issues with the patching process itself. However, afterwards when I logged into Answers/Dashboard, the homepage looked very strange. The entire header component is missing, including the Oracle logo, the dropdown menus for dashboards, favorites, search text field, signout link etc. The Create section in the left pane is also empty. Everything else on this homepage looks fine. When I navigate to the catalog via the Browse/Manager section, the catalog comes up fine along with the previously missing header! So the header is only missing on the homepage.. Very wierd.
Would appreciate any hints on how to troubleshoot this.. Can I manually fix this is in one of the xml files? I'm hoping not to have to go back and re-do the patching!
thanks,
AxeI think dhar is referring to the cleancat script to clean up the catalog binary cache. Here is the notes from the BP1 installation:
Clarification on the cleancat script: You may want to first navigate to the locations listed in the script to see if the files exist in your environment (they may not). If they do not exist, then you may scip running the patch. Additionally, the script may fail with an error. If that happens, go to the directories the script is trying to delete and delete them manually (if they exist).
P.S: I have manually deleted these files by navigating to the directories after installing the patches.
For Linux: cleancat.sh
================================
#!/bin/sh
# Cleanup catman binary cache
echo "Cleaning up Catalog Manager binary cache"
rm -rf $ORACLE_HOME/bifoundation/web/catalogmanager/configuration/org*
echo "Done"
For Windows: cleancat.cmd
================================
echo off
echo Cleaning up Catalog Manager binary cache
IF EXIST
%ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi
rmdir /S /Q
%ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.osgi
IF EXIST
%ORACLE_HOME%\bifoundation\web\catalogmanager\configuration\org.eclipse.equino
x.app (
rmdir /S /Q

Bit new to the admin side, so please excuse some ignorance.
We have approx 6000 end points. We setup this months patches and a couple out of cycle ones we noticed. We are getting a TON of clients that will not patch. They are getting the defintions but when we attempt to run the advertised
patches they fail approx 10 seconds later. However, some servers on the same boundry will patch just fine. We get the error message in the logs that when the client was told to download the content from the DP, it spits out error that content does
not exist. The DPs we believe are having the issues are MPs as well sitting in DMZ. We have 2 sites configured basically the same, both DP/MPs in DMZ are the ones having the issues. We have confirmed clients are able to connect anon to the
DP/MP. But again, some clients are patching just fine.
UpdatesDeployment.log has the following warning listed 7 times.
Not refreshing update presence state as error CI Info status received
But yet does see that it needs 7 patches.
EnumerateUpdates for action (UpdateActionInstall) - Total visible updates = 7
No other logs show any errors on the clients. I have confirmed the content is avalible on the DP/MP it is reporting too. Obviously though since other clients sitting right next to them work still.
Any ideas? Trying to avoid working all weekend. Thank you!We checked every single log on every MP, DP, SS and many clients. For unknown reasons, deleteing and rebuilding the Jan update list did the trick.

I am a Noob with Solaris and Unix in general and dont have any experience with Linux but am open minded and enjoy getting my teeth into new stuff. I have found Solaris to be a great challenge and Unix seems to be a suitable replacement to Windows. The only issue I have is regarding patching of the OS. I recently downloaded the recommended x86 patches and ran the install_cluster...upon reboot solaris just kept rebooting...there was some kind of panic in the kernel. I had a look on the net and found the patch that was causing the issue. I then rebuilt(I could have removed the patch but decided to do a rebuild anyway) I then edited the Patch_order file and removed the reference to the 118844-20 patch which caused the kernel panic.
I then installed the cluster again and rebooted and it seemed that solaris came up fine. but when I logged in a couple of applications for GNOME did not start(window list, workspace switcher, show desktop etc) it gave an error and asked if I wanted to restart these apps.
Next I tried to open a .gz archive and the file roller app died.
I then went to a terminal window and gunzipped the archive and then tried to tar -x the resulting file from the gunzip about half way through the untar Solaris rebooted. I have had no issues with archive files prior to patching so can only assume that it is one of the patches that is causing the issue?????
has anyone had similer issues.
I must admit, its a bit unnerveing when you install recommended patches that your system becomes very unstable.Hi,
I have the same problem and unfortunately no answers. Same story - build Solaris on machine, runs fine. Run update connection, load security and recommended patches and boom - Solaris is now broken. Unfortunately I didn't find a way to recover so my only course of action is to reinstall Solaris.
I traced it to a similar patch - 118844-30. I've since rebuilt the box using S10 Update 1 which includes Grub etc, but same problem if I run update connection and download the recommended patches which inlcudes 118844-30 => reinstall Solaris.

Adobe Reader 9.3.3 patch issue
Thus far I have been completely unable to install the Adobe Reader 9.3.3 update on my Win7 Pro x86 machines. Has anyone successfully pushed this update bundle to Windows 7 as of yet?
The Adobe Reader 9.3.2 patch came down from patch management with no issues for a couple of months with no issues and have been using in my environment ever since. Got around to deploying 9.3.3 and can't get it to go at all.Originally Posted by jortman83

Thank you for replying, I appreciate it. Every couple of days I just keep checking patch management to see maybe an udpates 9.3.3 package. As it is right now the 9.3.3 Reader update is completely non-functional for me. Yes, even after pressing the magic button and starting from scratch.
I've also been having some issues with patch management as well lately. My other big issue is the latest Flash update sometimes (randomly) uninstalls flash but never ever reinstalls it. Having to manually re-install Flash because the automatic method we are implementing to update Flash uninstalled the product is.... embarassing.
I'm currently very happy that I use WSUS for my MS updates, there is no way I could deal with this kind of occasional broken-ness for OS updates. -
I'm attempting to patch the 2.6.38-ARCH kernel on my Sony Vaio F as described here: http://code.google.com/p/vaio-f11-linux … nelSupport
However, the command: patch -p1 < /usr/src/vaio-test13-2.6.38.patch
Leads to this problem:

Reversed (or previously applied) patch detected! Assume -R? [n] n
Apply anyway? [n] n
Skipping patch.
2 out of 2 hunks ignored -- saving rejects to file include/linux/sonypi.h.rej

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
The text leading up to this was:

|+++ b/drivers/platform/x86/sony-laptop.c 2011-04-26 22:01:44.442776767 +0200
I don't know what to begin looking at for the issue. It means your patch is already in the code, so you don't have to apply it.

Windows 7 with IE 9, portal patch issue..
Hello,
My portal version is : 7.00 SP20
Seems there is an issue with portal on Windows 7 with IE 9. Please let me know whether we need any upgradation or updation of patch or anything ?Can you see or play any Flash content? Does YouTube work for you? What troubleshooting steps have you taken? Can you try Google Chrome and see if that makes any difference?
Thanks,
Chris -
During the configuration of my workspace I came across a blank screen, and I cannot set the properties to document.
I tried to configure web server, and the issue still persists. I also tried running a patch 13936087 (Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management Work space), but the error I got is stated below in the URL:
http://i.imgur.com/C1SBq.jpg
My system specs are: Windows Server 2008 R2, Hyperion 11.1.2.2 with bit size 64.
Thanks for the help.
Temi.sorry as it is a 11.1.2.2 patch my example should have been
opatch.bat apply C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\OPatch\13936087 -oh C:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1 -jre C:\Oracle\Middleware\jdk160_29
From your screenshot it looks like your command was pasted over a number of lines instead of one line.
Cheers

JSPM patching issue after system refresh
We have recently done a System Refresh of Java-Addin box from a source system whic was on SP-13 on to a target system which was on SP-14.
After the refresh we found the target system is now on SP13. When I tried to apply SP-14, JSPM reports that the patch is already applied. How do I go about ? Does this mean that SP-14 is already existing. How to make the system recognise that the current patch is on SP-13. What needs to be done?
Thanks in advance.
UmamaheshThis is not a bug in JSPM, if the System Refresh is done through SAPINST you shouldn't have such issues.
I think that since some of the files in J2EE are not updated after the manual system refresh and JSPM must be pointing to the earlier Patch level.
Especially files under ..../bootstrap/SAP AG are not updated
In JSPM by default the forcemode is disabled so given the manual way to enable the option
Hope this is clear

Outlook 2013 displaying "Upgrade in Progress" problem. Possible Patching issue?
Some of our Outlook 2013 clients have been displaying "upgrade in progress" It was doing this for hours. I could no longer get new mails while this was happening. It all started after we had patches installed. Since we are using
this new system for patch installation I think it could have been a patch that would have caused this. It could be any number of factors but the new patch management system we have could have installed a patch we normally do not have.
Some factors to consider:
1.) I had Outlook 2010 on my computer as well. I uninstalled this and it did not fix.
2.) Was running Outlook 2013 for months with no issue.
3.) We use Office 365 for our corporate email.
4.) Altiris (Symantec Management Console) is being used to patch our machines and it started after patches were installed.
Control Panel > Program and Features > Microsoft Office > Change > Online Repair. fixed the problem.
I was hoping someone maybe to help explain how this could have happened.
Since the computers having this problem are in our test environment and we have not yet deployed Altiris patching solution for the rest of the company yet is a relief but we would like to know if anyone else may have had a problem with this after a certain
patch that maybe they can identify.
Thank you!
Hi,
Did the patches you installed include some update for other version of Office?
Last time I see this issue is when two versions of Outlook (Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013) are installed on one computer. Please check if the clients with this problem are installed two versions of Outlook. Although we can have two versions of
Outlook on the same machine, only one version of Outlook can run at a time. Moreover, when we install Outlook 2013 first and then Outlook 2010, it may cause some unwanted issues. The method to fix such issue is to repair Office 2013.
So I guess there are some updates for Outlook 2010 in the patches which caused the conflict of two versions of Outlook.

Hello,
I'm having an issue where my CPU patch sets is failing on my Solaris 10 servers. The patch 126546-07 fails, this patch is for the BASH shell. I used a patch from Oracle to patch the shell shock security vulnerability. I think the patch was not compatible with the main system patches. I would like to remove the patch and install the most current one. I think the patches were IDR patches. I don't know how to remove or find these IDR patches. Can someone give me a hand. For SPARC: patchrm IDR151577-01 or patchrm IDR151577-02
For AMD: patchrm IDR151578-01 or patchrm IDR151578-02
The -01 or -02 depends on which version of the IDR you installed, I believe there were two revisions. You can check which one you have installed by doing ls -d /var/sadm/patch/IDR*
