Question about 32 Bit Oracle11g Client
hi
so many downloads....... i get lost ..........
from where i can download 32 Bit Oracle11g Client for windows-7 64bit that work with Oracle 11.2.0 64bit using PL/SQL developer ver 7.1 ?
i really dont know what to download.......
thanks in advanceIf PL/SQL developer is a 32 bit application, you will need the 32 bit Oracle client (even if the server is running the 64 bit version of Oracle Database). You can download the 11.2.0.1 client from the following link:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win32soft-098987.html
The 10.2.0.5 client will also work, but that is more challenging to install.

Hi,
We have a query which is working in 10g and giving error "ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression" in Oracle11g R2 (11.2.0.3). we have found following two solution to resolve it from the internet.
1)You can Set the hidden parameter “_FIX_CONTROL”=’5520732:OFF’ in the pfile. This parameter disables a given bug number.
2)We can set the parameter optimizer_features_enable to a previous version of Oracle, ’11.1.0.7′

Installation RDBMS Oracle11g Express Edition fails on Windows 7 64bits.
Hi,
I want to install an Oracle11g Express Edition on a Windows 7 64bits.
I have clicked on 'setup.exe' and i have ran this module with the 'Administration Option'.
It's works well but when 'setup.exe' ends, the directory C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\oradata\XE is empty. It doesn't exit any files of the DB: controlfile, redo log, *.dbf, ....
On the file C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\cloneDBCreation.log, the error SP2-0640 exists. may be, it's the reason there are no DB file.
Can you help me on that topic. Thanks you your help.

It is certainly possible to have more than one Oracle database version software installed on a server, but it is not possible to have the same database in two different versions at the same time. You will need to copy the existing 10g database and upgrade the copy to 11g.
1) To install oracle11g in the server do we need two user for oracle10g and oracle11gNot necessarily - you can use existing account and install the 11g software in a new ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_HOME. Just follow the instructions in the Install Guide

Data Replication Between Sqlserver and Oracle11g using materialized view.
I have Sqlserver 2005 as my source and oracle11g as my target.I need to populate the target daily with change data from source.
for that we have created a dblink between sqlserver and oracle and replicated that table as a Materialized view in Oracle.
problem we are getting here is Fast refresh option is not available.each day it will pick full data from the source.
is there any way to use Fast refresh in this scenario??
Thanks in advance.

Impact of solution of ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression in Oracle11g R2
Hi,
We have a query which is working in 10g and giving error "ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression" in Oracle11g R2 (11.2.0.3). we have found following two solution to resolve it from the internet.
1)You can Set the hidden parameter “_FIX_CONTROL”=’5520732:OFF’ in the pfile. This parameter disables a given bug number.
2)We can set the parameter optimizer_features_enable to a previous version of Oracle, ’11.1.0.7′
but I am unable to find the side effects of above change, so I need to know:
1)whcih is batter solution
2)what are the possible side effects of both solution.Hi,
1: The fix for the fix of bug 5520732 is already solved in 11.2, so this won't help
2: This can cause performance, suboptimal plans and losing lot of features from 11.2
The third option is always the best in this case, rewrite the query. There is an error in the SQL, so fix that one. It is just one query, so it wouldn't be to hard. The group by items are possibly out of sync with the select items.

Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 or 1.5.5 from Oracle11g Client?
Hello,
which SQLdeveloper is the newest version? I just installed an Oracle11g client on Windows XP 32 bit that comes with SQLDeveloper and installs it in ORACLE_HOME. It is version 1.5.5.
How does this relate to version 3.1? What is the difference?
The standalone version had was 3.0.0x.
Thanks
Richard3.1 is the latest.
The reason the version bundled with 11g is so old is that the release cycle for DBMS versions (including the client bundle) is much slower than SQL Developer. 11gR2 is a couple of years old now and there have been several releases of SQL Developer since then. -

Oracle11g degenerate dimension usage
HI,
The context of my sales cube is as follows,
Dimensions: product,region,time
Degenerate dimension: order_number (which is huge list)
Measure: amount,quantity
Using oracle11g analytic workspace manager, I can create the dimension, measure and cube.
Will somebody please guide me to configure order_number dimension as degenerate dimension. This would be the dimension which reside in fact with no mapping to source and no aggregates across this dimension.
I should be able get results for queries like, " List all the order numbers for the product A under Region B and where quantity sold > 100K"
Plz ask for any clarifications..
Thanks in advance,

It gives the contents of the book SAP BW certification: a business information warehouse study guide By Catherine M. Roze.
The contents give you an idea of all the types of dimensions like :
Degenerate
Partitioning
Categorical
Slowly changing
Reserved
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Rahul
