i want to know that is oracle user and its groups already created by default during installation of OEL 5.5 ??Why would it? It's just an operating system. It doesn't know or care what applications you may or may not choose to install at any time in the future after it (the OS) is installed, nor does it know or care about the requirements of any application you may choose to install at any time in the future. -

Configuration issue with OPS Center installation on OEL 5 update 5
Hi,
I have installed OPS Center 11g on an OEL 5 update 5. All prereqs, i think, is met and installation gives no warnings or errors.
When I try to access the web page to run the configuration wizard. It hangs with the "LOADING" message, after logon. And nothing more happens.
In the bottom left corner of the browser i have the DONE message. But an error behind.

How can i solve this? I saw no dojotoolkit installation as an prereq.

Edited by: user465755 on Oct 12, 2011 3:27 AMHello Kai,
I am not sure to completely understand your logs since they don't seem to be written in English but
could it be that you are using Firefox 4.0 ? ( only firefox 2 and 3 and IE 7 and 8 are supported ).
Also, do you have enough free RAM ( 1-2 GB ) on the browser's machine ?
Lastly, you can check the prerequisites with
/var/opt/sun/xvm/OCDoctor/OCDoctor.sh ec-prereq force
/var/opt/sun/xvm/OCDoctor/OCDoctor.sh --troubleshoot

I would suggest to go with jdk or jre with version 1.6 with 31 update.
This might be any java security issue free version.

Problem with Fresh Install of OEL 6.3 x86_64 over old OEL 6.0 x32
Dear Experts,
After selecting packages for fresh installation of OEL 6.3 x86_64 over old OEL 6.0 32-bit, it gives me the following warning
Some of the packages you have selected for install are missing dependencies. You can exit the installation, go back and change your package selections, or continue installing these packages without their dependencies.

gdb conflicts with elfutilsHow to avoid this warning?
Best Regards
MahmoudHi Dude,
Thank you for your response.
I didn't choose upgrade. I chose Fresh Installation.
Sorry for not giving background about the problem
The OEL 6.0 x32 was installed on a server with 64bit architecture, so the power of the server is not utilized well.
I want to completely replace the OEL 6.0 (32 bit) system with OEL 6.3 (64 bit)
Just I choose the mount point of /root and /boot and leave the all partitions with no formatting to save the old data
The above warning in the first post appears. How to avoid it?

100% CPU Usage Overhead running EM DBConsole 11g on OEL-5.2
After upgrading to OEL-5.2 and relinking all Oracle binaries, my old Oracle 11g installation, installed several months before on OEL-5.1, has been working well, including Enterprise Manager Database Console working nicely as always with respectful performance. Unfortunatelly, it lasted just several days.
Yesterday I decided to uninstall the 11g completely and perform new clean installation (software and database) with the same configuration options and settings as before, including EM dbconsole, all configured using dbca. After completing the installation (EM was started automatically by dbca), oracle continued to suck 80-85% CPU time. In further few minutes CPU utilization raised up to 99% due to only one (always the same PID) client process - "oracleorcl (LOCAL=NO)". For first ten minutes I didn't care too much since I always enable Automatic Management in dbca. But after two hours, I started to worry. The process was still running, consuming sustained 99% of CPU power. No other system activity, no database activity, no disks activity at all!
I was really puzzled since I installed and reinstalled the 11g at least 20 times on OEL-5.0 and 5.1, experimenting with ASM, raw devices, loopback devices and various combinations of installation options, but never experienced such a behaviour. It took me 3 minutes to log in to EM dbconsole as it was almost unusable performing too slow. After three hours CPU temperature was nearly 60 degrees celsius. I decided to shutdown EM and after that everything became quiet. Oracle was running normally. Started EM again, the problem was back again. Tracing enabled, it filled a 350 MB trace file in just 20 minutes. Reinstalling the software and database once again didn't help. Whenever EM is up, the CPU usage overhead of 99% persists.
Here is a cca 23 minutes session summary report taken from EM dbconsole's Performance page. The trace file is too big to list it here, but it shows the same.

----------------------------------------Wow!!! Note: no disk, no database activity !
Has anyone experienced this or similar behaviour after clean 11g installation on OEL-5.2? If not, anyone has a clue what the hell is going on?
Thanks in advance.Hi Tommy,
I didn't want to experiment further with already working OEL-5.2, oracle and dbconsole on this machine, specially not after googling the problem and finding out that I am not alone in this world. There are another two threads on OTN forums (Database General) showing the same problem even on 2GB machines:
DBConsole easting a CPU
11g stuck. 50-100% CPU after fresh install
So, I took another, a smaller free machine I've got at home (1GB RAM, 2.2MHz Pentium4, three 80GB disks), on which I used to experiment with new releases of software (this is the machine on which I installed 11g for the first time when it was released on OEL-5.0, and I can recall that everything was OK with EM). This is what I did:
1. I installed OEL-5.0 on the machine, adjusted linux and kernel parameters, and performed full 11g installation. Database and EM dbconsole worked nice with acceptable performance. Without activity in the database, %CPU = zero !!! The whole system was perfectly quiet.
2. Since everything was OK, I shutdown EM and oracle, and performed the full upgrade to OEL-5.2. When the upgrade finished, restarted the system, relinked all oracle binaries, and started oracle and EM dbconsole. Both worked perfectly again, just as before the upgrade. I repeated restarting the database and dbconsole several times, always with the same result - it really rocks. Without database activity, %CPU = zero%.
3. Using dbca, I dropped the database and created the new one with the same configuration options. Wow! I'm again in trouble. A half an hour after the creation of the database, %CPU raised up to 99%. That's it.
The crucial question here is: what is that in OEL-5.2, not existing in the 5.0, that causes dbca/em scripts to be embarrassed at the time of EM agent configuration?
Here are the outputs you required picked 30 minutes after starting the database and EM dbconsole (sustained 99% CPU utilization). Note that this is just a 1GB machine.

OEL 5.5 11gR2 Validated RPM Missing Dependencies
OEL 5.5 attempting to install 11gR2. We are getting dependency errors when trying to run the validated rpm. The errors are when trying to find glibc and glibc-headers. It appears that we have only the x86_64 and i686 versions of glibc, but not the i386 version. We have checked the install disk as well as using yum and neither have the i386 version. How do we resolve this dependency? Below are the error messages.

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
package-cleanup --dupes
rpm -Va nofiles nodigestHi user;
Please try below query to can find your rpm on your system:
rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}.%{RELEASE} (%{ARCH})\n" | grep libaio
libaio-0.3.105.2 (i386)
libaio-0.3.105.2 (x86_64)
I made 11gr2 installation on OEL and i could find all related rmp on disk, i didnt use yum future for my issue. Be sure you have all prerequest

How to install 11gR2 on oel 5.4
how to install 11gR2 on oel 5.4?is there any side effect for 11gR2 on OEL 5.4 with ASM?
does oel 5.4 supports 11gR2 and ntfs mount?
Edited by: ghost_rieder on Sep 26, 2009 1:11 PMThe 11gR2 installation on OEL-5.4 is pretty simple and easy, although the OUI interface has been changed. No side effect with ASM, but installation procedure is something different (grid infrastructure) for a standalone installation (single database with ASM). Also, deinstallation of software is now performed via separate package 'deinstall' (not via OUI as before). There are 7 zip files downloadable from OTN:
linux.x64_11gR2_database_1of2.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_database_2of2.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_grid.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_client.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_examples.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_gateways.zip
linux.x64_11gR2_deinstall.zip
The first two are for database, the third is for grid infrastructure including ASM installation for single database. If you want a standalone installation with ASM, you must first install grid infrastructure software in its own oracle home (must be different from database home) and configure ASM and listener in that home. When ASM and listener are active and running in grid infrastructure home, install database software in database home and build the database via dbca in database home.

Install OEL 5.0 as Guset OS in VM Virtual BOX
Hi,
I am using WIN XP SP3 on my laptop(intel core i3 32 bit,2 GB RAM).
I have installed Oracle VM Virtual Box for XP (version 4.0.6).There i want to use OEL as my guest OS and install Oracle 11g R2.
I have never used any VM s/w prior to that, hence i don not have any idea on this.
* I have configured OEL VM,now my question is do i need the original OEL 5.0 ISO images to be downloaded from e-delivery to insatll OEL in VM virtual box.And also do i need the 11g R2 binaries for OEL 5 to insatll it within VM OEL???
Please refer me some doc on step by step installation of OEL as guest in VM vietual box.i am a newbie to this.I dont have any idea on this. *
Thanks.
Edited by: Susmit on Apr 26, 2011 9:04 AMHi,
if you don't have any idea google is you best friend.
Ask the question you posted here to google, and you will find a lot of good sites with information on this.
However, there is also a good guide, to setup a RAC in Virtualbox, which might answer most of your questions:
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR2RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVirtualBox.php
(Even if you don't intend to install a RAC the steps, till you install the Oracle Software, are the same...).
BTW: Found this via. google ;)
Regards
Sebastian
