[Oracle8.1 Client] Silent install

Hye,
Trying to make a silent install with Oracle8.1 Client, the goal is to build an MSI package who installs client automatically. I think my clientcustom.rsp is good, but when I launch the command :
C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install>setup.exe -responseFile "C:\Response\oracle.swd.Custom.rsp" -silent
There is no effect. If I remove silent option, OUI launchs, but dont take in order parameters who are in custom.rsp...
Other thing, to make a silent install install of Oracle8.1, it is obligatory to have OUI installed on computer ?
The other problem is I have to integrate tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora in installation.
So what would be the best solution for realize that ? Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.
Anyway I see a strange thing :
- I launch the command C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install>setup.exe -record -DestinationFile "C:\Response\oracle.rsp" . OUI launch correctly.
- But after install, I don't see oracle.rsp file created.
- In Silent mode, I launch "C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install>setup.exe -responsefile C:\clientminiresponse.
rsp"
- In Logs, I see "Installation use oracle.rsp file".
- But the Installer don't use values which are in oracle.rsp file. It seems that it takes in order only oraparam.ini.

  • SAP BPC 7.5 Client, Silent install but with progress bar, can it be done?

    Hi All,
I need to uninstall the BPC 7 Client and then deploy 7.5 to around 250 users accross the country.
We have SCCM (SMS) in place so will be using that.
I have the uninstall of 7 sorted and I have the response file etc sorted for the silent install of 7.5 and the install runs, silently, no issue.
Is there a way though that one can "turn on" the progress bar during the install? So that users dont shutdown or disconnect in the 15min it takes the install to run.
By way of example, in the SAP Business objects enterprise client on can configure the Silent install so that although it never prompts the user for a reponse there is a progress bar that runs, indicating that there is an install in progress.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bryan

    Hi Sebastian,
No worries, I am using a pop up countdown so the users have some idea on progress. Would love to know why the install runs for over 15min.
In the above case the uninstall was easy as we had deployed using MS AppV so it was just a case of deleting the advert in SCCM and the application was pulled from the users desktops.
For 7.5 I am using a vbscript with following to uninstall:
The install string pulled from the clients registry uninstall folder:
    RunCommand Chr(34) & "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{EC8753EF-EE78-48B5-A4D0-FBBD237B5D53}\setup.exe" & Chr(34) & " -runfromtemp -l0x0009UNINSTALL -removeonly"
We create a custom link, so this deletes it.
    DeleteFile "c:\Users\Public\Desktop\SAP BPC 7.5.lnk"
You should be able to create something similar for 7.0 & 7.1
    Hope that helps,
    Bryan

Does anyone know/have the switch(es) for an auto or silent install (client side) for Excel Essbase Add-in version 6.1.4.0?Thank you,Blake

Hi,Install Shield has a silent option that allows to record the options that have to be selected by the user. You first have to launch the install with a record a setup.iss file by launcinh setup.exe /r (or -r)Then setup.exe /f1 with the location and name of the iss file will do the trick.Consult installshield.com knowldege base for more information (perform a search on setup.iss).Please be aware that depending on the OS the iss file may need to be different.EricPartake Consulting

  • Installing Tidal 5.3.1 Scheduler Client silently

    Hello,
Just wondering if it's possible to silently install the 5.3.1 Scheduler Client. The only reference I can find to a silent install refers to the 3.0 agent. Am I chasing an untamed ornithoid without cause here?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

I have actually figured out a work around while I was waiting for a response so I will share it for others who may be in a similar situation.
I was able to get it working by creating and utilizing the Install Shield response file.
To do this use the following syntax:
\\networkshare\Client\Setup.exe /r /f1"\\networkshare\Client\Setup.iss" (you can call the ISS file whatever you'd like)
This will launch the installer for you to manually configure and all settings will be captured to the .iss file you specified.
To test if your installer works you can use the following command on a machine where no tidal client is present:
    \\networkshare\Client\Setup.exe /s /f1"\\networkshare\Client\Setup.iss"
That's it. Every InstallShield installer that uses an .iss file will also create a setup.log file which you can reference to see if it is successful. If you are having problems with this method I would encourage you to search for Install Shield ResultCodes.
    Cheers!

  • Silent install in the enterprise

    Hi.
Please can you let me know if there has been any update on how to perform a silent install for Adobe Digital Editions. I specifically want to automate the activation process for multiple users by selecting the do not authorise option automatically so the install completes without any user interaction.
    Thanks

Thanks "Frustrated AZ", that 'contradiction' does make sense although it does slightly leave us business users out in the cold. My challenge is that the UK's largest legal services provider has chosen eBooks instead of PDF's, and is recommending ADE to their business clients.
"mrt11011", I see now what you meant (missed it in your earlier post) and I have also hit the proverbial brick wall. I have not been able to find a way to suppress the activate screens, and having suppressed the EULA is not much of a consolation. I was able to automate it completely using Winbatch (a fantastic Windows admin scripting / tool), using keystrokes but was forced to use "mouse clicks" because the activate wizard doesn't support keyboard shortcuts. I digress... Unfortunately I cannot (yet) accomodate different screen resolutions because it's Flash and the operating system isn't clearly identifying the child and parent windows to Winbatch. If I crack it I will certainly post my solution here.
Hopefully Adobe's wizards will scroll through these posts and do something for businesses.

  • Fully automatic silent install of 1.4.2_10

We're using Citrix Webinterface 4.0 with Citrix Java Client for remote access users (working at home). This works fine with Java 1.4.2_10. It does NOT work with MS Java VM or Java 1.5.x. So we need to ensure employees have Java 1.4.2_10 installed at their home pc's. We do not have administrative control over these pc's. Therefore we need to push the Java 1.4.2_10 software from the same webpage as their Citrix Webinterface login.
QUESTION: I would like to create a hyperlink on the Webinterface login page where users can click to FULLY AUTOMATICALLY download and SILENTLY install the Java 1.4.2_10 software (and NOT the Java 1.5.x which is (non-silently) available at http://www.java.com/nl/download/ie_auto.jsp !!!!!)
    How can this be accomplished?
    Any help is much appreciated

i haven't done it, but you could just include the version of the JRE you want the user to use with your software

    Hi Jason,
    A couple questions:
    1. Have you tried installing on more than one machine, and is this happening always, or just in some instances?
    2. Are you trying to perform the silent install on other XP SP2 machines, or are these different OSes? The response file should be made for identical OSes.
The ResultCode=-3 is saying that "Required data not found in the Setup.iss file." I have a feeling that the environment where you recorded the response file had all the necessary third party applications installed, so that dialog was skipped during that "recorded" installation. It would have been a dialog after you selected the installation option (it's not listed in the dialog list in your response file, so that's why I'm figuring that machine was up to date).
So, when you installed on the next machine with the response file, the setup.exe was now looking for this particular dialog in the response file, but it's not there. For that response file to work, you need to make sure the environment where you are using it has all the third party apps installed before running the silent install. If you look at the main installer location (where the setup.exe is) there is a "Third Party Files" subfolder, with all the third party apps UPK uses. Install those on these machines before running the silent installation.
If any of these are not already installed, install them:
.NET Framework 3.5 (in DOTNET folder)
MS Visual C++ 2008 Runtime Library (in MS_Visual_C++_2008_Redist folder)
    MSXML 4.0 (in MSXML_4.0 folder)
MS Primary Interop Assemblies 2005 (in Primary_Interoperability_Assemblies_2005 folder)
Web Service Enhancements 3.0 (in Web_Services_Enhancements folder)
    Hope this helps,

  • ZFH5.1 Proxy SILENT Install

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to get a silent install setup for the proxy clients and I
    just
can't seem to get it to work. I've read through the admin guide,
    following
it to the letter, but it doesn't seem to work silently.
It created the setup.iss file, as well as modified the proxy.ini. I
    copied
these to the central install directory for the proxy client. I'm
    using
ZFD3.2 to deliver the software....I add the "-s" switch in the
    application
parameters. When I click the icon, it appears to do something but it
    never
installs. The application log files show distribution success, but no
    files
are ever dropped down. If I remove the s switch, it will execute theinstall program just fine, but it's obviously not silent and I need to
    go
    through every step again.
I also copied the central install directory to the local machine and
executed setup.exe -s locally, and that doesn't work either.
    Any ideas I can try??
    TIA,
    Ryan Van Thiel

Thanks a lot Dave, that was a big help. It took me a little bit
before I figured out that it was writing a log file to the network actually.
But adding the f2 switch easily resolved this. The parameters just
    read as
    "-s -f2c:\zfhproxy.log"
    Thanks again,
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
When using the -S switch, InstallShield writes a setup.log file in
the directory you are installing from. The process that has spawned InstallShield needs rights to create a file. As an alternative, you
can use the "-f2[path\log file name]" option to have the log file written
in a different location, one you know the process will have write rights
in. This is a common problem. It comes up when users try doing a silent install off of a CD as well.
    I hope this helps.

Ok, I think I have it figured out, but I have NO idea why this is
    the case.
I'm hoping someone can explain it to me, I don't see anything in the
    admin
    guide.
I must have messed up the local install the first time, because I =tried
again, and it actually worked. So if I execute setup.exe -s from a
    local
install directory, it works. However, it still wasn't working via
    NAL or
the centralized network directory. It ended up being file rights to
    the
centralized install directory. With read-only rights, it doesn't =work. If
I gave the user full rights to the install directory, the silent install
works just fine. What could it possibly be writing to the install
directory? Is this really the way it's supposed to work? Any light
    someone
can shed on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
