Oracle9i Database Startup password

guys, this is my first time to install Personal Oracle9i in my home computer. I had successfully installed it and when i tried i can't login to Oracle9i. After logging in as Scott with password tiger, the database will be started up. But it prompts me with a password, the Prompt Dialog box's title is "Oracle9i Startup". I didn't set up any database yet, how come its asking me a password? Is there a default password? Help me out please!

  • Personal Oracle 8i Database startup password

    Can someone provide the database startup password for Personal Oracle 8i.I have tried passwords like "oracle","sys","manager"in both uppercase and lowercase.
    None of this works.I have read the required documentation for the same.But I haven't recd any information.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Normally this combination should work.
    Anyway, try this out.
    In the command prompt,
    set ORACLE_SID=<sid name>
    start server manager/svrmgrl
    connect internal.
    At this juncture , if you are getting errors, exit the svrmgr application.
    try to reset the password for internal with a new password file. (Backup the old one).
    Tr connecting.

  • OC4J 9.0.3 (date 07/31) problem with the MDB-demo and Oracle9i-databases (v9.*)

    Trying to get the supplied mdb-demo to work in the J2EE 1.3 certified version of OC4J 9.0.3 (from 07/31).
    It works fine with the OJMS-provider in a Oracle 8i v8.1.7 database but not in a Oracle9i database.
    I have now tried three possible versions of Oracle9i available from OTN and Metalink:
    - v9.0.1.1
    - v9.0.1.3.1
    - v9.2.0.1
    I have noted from the "known-issue-page" that the supported version is v9.0.1.3 with patch #2416054 applied. Unfortunately is that patch only available for Solaris as of today...
    I all cases I get one and the same error message from the CartEJB - bean in OC4J:
    CartEJB::send2Queue: begin; item=QueueqSNDQUE|Queue
    CartEJB::send2Queue; Exception occurred: oracle.jms.AQjmsException: ORA-06550: l
    ine 1, column 7:

    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: Statement ignored
    CartEJB::send2Queue: end
    Is there some post-installation-step that I missed (e.g. copying som jar-fil from Oracle9i to OC4J...) or is there anything else I can do to get the supplied MDB demo working with Oracle9i?
    Thanks in advance,
    Magnus Larsson.

    Ok...
    Thanks for your help!
    So I will stick with Oracle8i v8.1.7 until the patch is available on Windows...
    Maybe I'll make a try with Linux also (thanks for noting me!), but probably will the Windows patch be available before I succeed with Oracle9i on Linux...
    I will post a reply once I get the patch working on either Linux or Windows!
    Regards,
    Magnus.

  • Dynamic Parameter Prompting for Database Connection Password

    Post Author: rsharp
    CA Forum: Publishing
    Hi
    I've been finding recently that reports using dynamic parameters and published into Crystal Server prompt for the database connection password when the dynamic parameter is accessed.  Thing is, this only started happening recently for new and already existing reports with dynamic parameters and I don't know why.  In Crystal Reports the dynamic parameter can be accessed without a database connection prompt being displayed but not after publishing.  (Maybe there's a problem with the Publishing Wizard?)  Static parameters work just fine just as they always have, but I'm a bit mystified by the fact that dynamic parameters used to work (without prompting) but now they don't.  Any advice or opinion would be much appreciated.

    from the CMC you have to set the default connection or wat connection should this report use,
    go to this report in CMC, click process tab, and check the connection

    Hi,
    pls let me know whats the limit of max no of concurrent sessions in oracle9i database .
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Oracle no longer offers licensing by the number of concurrent sessions.
    There used to be 2 initialization parameters : - LICENSE_MAX_SESSIONS and LICENSE_SESSIONS_WARNING . these have been deprecated.
    Therefore Jaffer's statements stands.....

  • How to connect to oracle9i database from Unix

    Hi All,
    How can i connect to remote oracle9i database(windows based) from Unix. I have following server information Server IP, Username , Userpassword , DataBase name.Do i need any other information to connect to server?
    How can i connect database from Putty?
    Do i need to install SQL on the Unix to connect to oracle server?
    and which C/C++ API i have to use to access tables from the remote oracle server?
    please help me i am new to oracle .
    Thanks in advance.

    Oracle generally uses a special set of software, commonly called the SQLNet or Oracle Networking, as a layer to provide a connection between the client and the database server.
    In general terms,
    - the client software (perhaps sqlplus, an application, ODBC) calls Oracle Networking on the client computer and says "please connect to database known as 'x'";
    - Oracle Networking translates the request, often by looking up 'x' in the TNSNAMES.ORA file at the client side, to get the host name, the port the Oracle listener is waiting on, and the name of the database service to access;
    - Oracle Networking contacts the computer on the required port. If the listener is there, the Oracle Networking client asks for a connection to the database service;
    - The Listener (if it recognizes it) asks the database service for a 'server process';
    - The database starts up a server process which grabs a network port and tells the listener which port was obtained;
    - The listener tells Oracle Networking on the client which port to use;
    - The client disconnects from the Listener, and reconnects at that port;
    - The server process starts authentication and session initialization, after which we are good to go.
    In answer to your questions:
    1) How can i connect database from Putty?
    That implies you want to telnet to the Windows box and run the client stuff locally on the Windows box. So that means you need to look at telnet or ssh documentation - this has nothing to do with Oracle.
    2) Do i need to install SQL on the Unix to connect to oracle server?
    Not really. It does mean you might want to install an Oracle CLIENT (see the download section of http://otn.oracle.com) which will initiate the sequence as above.
    A different sort of client is SQL Developer, a Java-based GUI with it's own built-in Oracle Networking, that displays database stuff. That is also offered by Oracle at the same download page.
    3) and which C/C++ API i have to use to access tables from the remote oracle server?
    Oracle provides a C/C++ API as a pre-processor, called Pro*C. I suspect this si way beyond what you want right now.
    4) please help me i am new to oracle .

  • Database startup error message

    Hi Guys,
    When I startup my Database, I always see this error message printed in the trace file:
    Error in executing triggers on database startup

    ORA-06512: at line 4
    I have a few questions about the above message:
    1. How can I see which database startup trigger is having this error? Is there a way to determine that?
    2. Is there a way I can disable all triggers that fire on database startup? (just like we can disable triggers on a table)
    3. Any idea what ORA-36961: Oracle OLAP is not available. means?
    Thanks

    hey..thanks for the reply, I have checked to see if any triggers are enabled on startup from the USER_TRIGGERS
    SQL> select TRIGGER_NAME from DBA_TRIGGERS where TRIGGERING_EVENT='STARTUP';
    no rows selected
    SQL>
    But when I start my database, I again see this error message:

    ORA-06512: at line 4
    Is there any way I can check what trigger Oracle is complaining about?
    Also, how can I disable OLAP so that I don't see the OLAP error message?
    Thanks

  • Installing Oracle9i Database on Windows 2003 Cluster

    Can anyone tell me if there are any additional steps needed to install an Oracle DB on a Windows 2003 cluster besides just running the installation and taking the defaults? I was hoping that the software would be cluster aware but it doesn't appear that it is.

    Okay,
    I have gotten a little further with this. I have my 2 node active/passive windows cluster installed and working. I also install Oracle Fail Safe and have it setup and working. I then install my Oracle9i database on node 1 using a local disk for the home directory and the DB/logs files etc on shared disk (SAN back end). I then mirrored the install on my 2nd node using the same home name and location on a local disk. What other steps do I need to take to verify that my new Oracle database will function correctly should a node fail and fail over occur. I am not familiar with any of this at all and am just trying to get to a point where I have my DB installed and working correctly within the cluster before I hand this of to another person. I guess what I am saying is I need to make sure my new DB is cluster aware and will fail over correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
