  • Please help with oracle9i installation on PCQ Linux 2004

    hi all
    please help,
installation of oracle9i hangs on PCQ Linux2004 ,
    The installation starts with message
Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall2005-03-02_11-04-34PM/jre/bin/java. Please wait...
After this message installation stops.I also have latest JDK version which jdk1.4
    please help

You said you upgraded the JRE to 1.4. Did you change the parameter JRE_LOCATION in oraparam.ini, to point to the newer jre? I found some info on this forum thread for this error (but this error occurs before the installation screens even come up. You didn't mention exactly what screen your error comes up on so I figured I would mention this just in case).
Re: install oracle9204 in redhat linux es 3
If you're on the screen after the installation summary screen, and it hangs while saying "Link pending, copying JRE" above the progress bar, I am also at this stage.
Although I haven't fixed the problem yet, someone mentioned that you need to install patch 2878462 to fix this problem. I haven't done this yet, but saw the write up here:
    http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/37572/0/
I can't figure out how to get the patch since I don't have a support contract. I don't understand how they can provide a free linux download and not give you access to the patchsets (on metalink)!!!! Anyone know how I can get the patchset without having a support contract and logging into metalink?
Anyone know if installing this patch solves the issue?

  • Regarding oracle9i installation

    hi
please suggest me how to install oracle9i in LINUX 9.
    Thanks

First of all, Oracle9i Application Server cannot share the same ORACLE_HOME with other Oracle products. If you have installed other Oracle products on the system, then Oracle9iAS must be installed in a different ORACLE_HOME. If previously-set ORACLE_HOMEs exist on the machine where you are installing Oracle9iAS on, then you should take care to avoid conflicts between ORACLE_HOME. For that,
    1.Unset your existing ORACLE_HOME
    Edit your PATH, CLASSPATH, and
2.LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables so they do not use the existing ORACLE_HOME value.
For more information refer your Oracle9iAS installation guide. This is explained in Chapter 2: Concepts and Preinstallation
Then you can specify any path for your 9iAS where you would like to install the product.
For your question # 2. Regarding prinstallation tasks..... iAS installatio requires an active database connection. If you are using a database installed on the same system, then you should take care of the port conflicts. By default 9iAS cache database( In Enterprise Edition install) and database in Standard Edition install are using 1521 as their default port. You can shutdown all other oracle processes other than database and DB listener( provided there are no conflicts) and then install 9iAS.

  • Oracle9i Installation on SuSe Linux 7.3 Professional Edition

    Hi,
I'm trying to Install Oracle 9i Database server on SuSe Linux 7.3 Professional Edition. I have gone throgh the Oracle 9i release notes for the Linux version. In the release notes document, in the OS Software Requirement section ( the following statement is mentioned as below ):
"The following executables must present in the /usr/bin directory : make, ar, ld, nm"
But after the Linux insalltion I found that only make executable is present and other doesn't. My doubt is, if I continue with the Oracle Installtion without these files does the installer cause any problems? If so how do I get these executables, as these executables doesn't exist in the "Software Installation" listing of SuSe 7.3 Professional edition?
Another doubt is, Does SuSe 7.3 Professional edition suitable for Oracle 9i Database server? I checked the Kernal version, it seems to be OK.
    Please help.

  • Oracle9i installation in Solaris 10

    hi all,
We are in the process of installation of oracle 9i on solaris 5.10. In this server already oracle Home is available and 10g oracle version is running.
NOTE: As the client software will work only on oracle 9i database, to simulate few issues we are doing so in a test server.
while installation process it is stopping in the middle saying that "There was an error during loading library: LangQueries
    Stop installation of all products......
    I have tried changing the ORACLE_HOME_NAME , OUI home,etc...
    but we couldn't resolve this.
    But we found one change
    During installation,
    in the directory $ORACLE_HOME/inventory/Queries21/LangQueries
it has to create a directory 1.3.6.3 ( since this is only available in the $ORACLE_INSTALLATION_DIR/disk1/stage/Queries/LangQueries/1.3.6.3)
but instead it is creating 1.3.5 in $ORACLE_HOME/inventory/Queries21/LangQueries directory.
Whether this is the real issue and how to fix this.
    please help me.

  • Oracle9 installation on AIX 6.1

    Hi
As a part of Technical Upgrade from 4.7EESR1 to ECC6 EHP4, we need to
build a Sandbox System on AIX 6.1 with 4.7EESR1/Oracle9 from AIX 5.1 /
    4.7EESR1/Oracle9 system through SystemCopy/Export/Import option on a
new Hardware for one of our clients on a temporary basis. Eventually,
Oracle9 will be upgraded to Oracle10.
My query is, will oracle 9.2 install successfully on AIX 6.1, as I
didn't find any information in PAM. If so, will it require any special
    precautions/steps.
    Pls. let me know.
    Regards
    Ravi Kiran

    Hi Stefan,
    Thanks for the info.
I have already gone through the specified metalink.
I don't require the ceritification of Oracle 9i on AIX 6.1
My query is whether it will be installed properly or not so that my SystemCopy Import on AIX with Oracle 9i will be successful.
Once it is done, we will immediately upgrade the database to Oracle 10.2.0.4 and the Kernel to 640. And then we will start the Upgrade.

  • Oracle9i installation

    hi,
i installed oracle 9i enterprise in my xp pro machine.
its says database is successfully created.
when i give username and password in sql plus, its says logon denied ,invalied username password.
    i gave scott and tiger.
i go through some of the exes.now the error is tns.exe no lisner
please some one help me fix the problem.
    manju

first of all listener have no function when you are working on the same machine. try connect as system user and change password of scott user. moreover in oracle9i by default all user accounts are locked. you first manually open these accounts and then connect to the database. when you open sql*plus in its user name blank write just /nolog
sqlplus will open without connecting to database.then do as fallow \
    SQL> conn / as sysdba
know you have connected as sysdba then issue the following commnads
    SQL> alter user account unlock;
    SQL> alter user scott identified by tiger;
    SQL> conn scott/tiger
for listener you will create it first and then use it.
from network manager utility you can do it .

  • Oracle9i installation on Sun cluster not showing the cluster config screen

    Hi All,
We are trying to install Oracle 9i RAC on a 2 node Sun cluster. The oracle installer never shows up the cluster configuration screen. However if we run the preInstall checker script from oracle (Installprecheck.sh) , it reports that it has indeed detected the cluster. Can anyone please help us out of this predicament.
    -Kishore

    Hi Kishore,
    I 'm assuming the following:
. Sun Cluster 3.1 will be used to support Oracle 9i RAC
. Oracle is being installed on a file system instead of raw devices
To answer your question, a clustered file system must be present in order for Oracle 9i RAC Installer to recognize that a cluster exists before it displays the cluster configuration screen at the beginning of the installation.
Prior to QFS 4.2, Sun did not support a clusteed file system. All Oracle RAC systems for Solaris were raw device based. You're in luck now because Sun has released Sun QFS 4.2 which support a clustered file system.
