Oracle9i Report Server

Hi folks,
Could someone tell me where I can download Oracle9i Report server? I want to install a report server version 9i. And also where the documentation is?
I don't want to install the report server on infrastructure server I want a standalone report server.
Thanks in advance,

It's being donloaded ...
However, why it's named OracleASFormsReportsServices10g-90401 instead of oracle9i report? Again I want to download oracle 9i not 10.
Do they have anything like oracle report server 10g?
How can I download a good document to install/configure reports?
Thanks and regards

  • URGENT: 9i report server for reports (9i ver) deployed on Weblogic6.1

    Hi,
My company's product is a web-based reporting application running on WebLogic6.1 and Reports6i. I have recommeded using Reports9i due to its vast array of features. In the test environment, I have been able to successfully integrate Reports9i on WebLogic through the Reports9i J2EE Thin Client.
I would like to know that, for production, is it possible to use this same configuration to pass requests to a stand alone oracle9i report server as was the case in 6i. Since we are already using weblogic6.1 in production and cannot migrate the entire application to oracle9ias appserver just for using the reporting functionality.
    Thanks,
    Bharat

    Bharat,
I would suggest you to read the readme which is available with the Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client.
Please note that for testing and development purpose,
your configuration of "Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client for WebLogic used to pass request to a standalone Report9i Server installed through the Oracle9i Developer Suite." is perfectly O.K
However, To use in deployment / production environemnt, you must have a license of Oracle 9i Application server
Please let us know if this is not clear
    Thanks

  • Guidance choosing Report Server 6i or Oracle9i Reports ???

    Hi.
This is a request for information and/or opinions really.
The company I work for want to extend the current Oracle facilities by providing enhanced reporting features, statistics, and analysis of existing databases. ( NB: we have several Oracle Databases at various versions on Sun Solaris and Linux )
We will shortly be upgrading to 8.1.7, possible to 9i mid next year!
    My questions are :-
Is Oracle Reports Server 6i or Oracle9i Reports the way to go as opposed to developing in-house reporting facilities?
What requirements exist for Oracle Rpt Server 6i as opposed to Oracle9i Rpts, ie is 9i Reports backwards compatible with 6i? and is it also compatible with Oracle Server 8.1.7 Ent Edition ?
Any answers, opinions or links to URL's that could save me a lot of legwork or save me getting the runaround from Oracle Sales would be appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi Andrew,
You asked for some opinions, so here goes... :)
    My questions are :-
Is Oracle Reports Server 6i or Oracle9i Reports the way to go as opposed to developing in-house reporting facilities?Depends on your requirements. (Boring, standard and sort of meaningless answer, I know ;)) E.g. What kind of information do you want to "dig out", presentation formats, distribution demands... "analysis" sounds more like Discoverer and/or 9i DB analythical functions.
What requirements exist for Oracle Rpt Server 6i as opposed to Oracle9i Rpts, ie is 9i Reports backwards compatible with 6i? and is it also compatible with Oracle Server 8.1.7 Ent Edition ?If you have the chance (given business requirements, standards, existing investments, database server versions, hardware availability, license costs, etc.) to choose newer and supported versions (i.e. 9i), go for the "9i" version. Upgrading to 8.1.7 and later 9.x.x seems like one bit towards that.
BUT you should be aware that Reports is nowadays, so called, integrated with the 9i AS package. In my experience, AS is more demanding than the previous 6i (different architecture, bigger installation, a lot of running servers/processes, more things to manage). On the other hand, the software infrastructure which is AS can be used in delivering a lot of different applications (compared to "simple" Reports reports). With Certified Configurations and thelike, perhaps a complete, tested and supported sw&hw solution could be less expensive (but this I haven't tried yet).

  • Oracle9i Reports in Client/Server environment

    Hi
Is it possible to use Oracle9i Reports in Client/Server environment. I tried to use reports against older databases (7.3.4 and 8.1.7) and they work from Repots Builder but it is nor clear is it possible to set clinet/server environment for them.
    Regards

You can certainly still run reports using the rwrun executable.
However, there is no longer any runtime UI (i.e., you can't run to Screen or Preview any more, only to File, Printer, etc.)

  • Oracle9i AS Reports Server Installation - Service Failed to start

    Hi All,
I have installed Oracle9i Apps Server on Win 2000. Installation was successful and the forms are configured correctly but REPORTS SERVICE FAILED TO START. Everytime, I try to start Rerports Service, it fails and the following lines are written to the REP60_Server.Log file in [OracleHome]/REPORT60/Server directory,
    *** 2002-04-29 09:24:48 -- Server is starting up.
*** 2002-04-29 09:24:48 -- Daemon failed to listen to port
Does anyone has any idea of what is going on? Your help will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Have you made any changes to the TNSNAMES.ora in ORA_HOME/NET80/ADMIN using NET8. If you did, usually it screws up the entry for reports server because it is not the standerd format. Check the Report_server entry manually then try starting up reports server.
    Hope this helps

  • Windows developed report hangs on Unix Reports server ??

    Hi,
We recently migrated from a Windows BI tier to HP-UX Itanium. The problem I have is that one particular report just hangs in the Unix reports server. The basics of the report are that it has repeating frames which displays three record blocks per page. I use a formatting trigger on a derived field to alternate the background colour of the frames.
After making several modifications to the report I've discovered that the trigger to alternate the background colour is the issue. I can use the same field with a trigger to say conditionally display a field or hide another frame and that works ok. I can set the background of the frame to another colour and the report works fine.
As soon as I use a formatting trigger to change the background it hangs.
In terms of report development I'm stuck with only Windows as Report builder is not available for our platform so troubleshooting this is a tedious process.
Has anyone seen anything like this before ????
    Cheers,
    Ron

    hello,
oracle reports has always had this dependency. it needs the x environemtn for rendering of the output. so you need an active xsession for the reports server to point DISPLAY to.
a possible work around is the use of a soft-terminal such as VNC or xvfb (see oracle9i application server release notes for details).

    Hi,
I can't answer to all your questions, however I can tell you that:
    2) The directory where to put the report file is specifiend in a file named
    <serverName>.conf
    in the sourceDire property
    <property name="sourceDir" value="/directory/dove/mettere/i/report"/>
that you can find under ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf
    3) The URL is
    http://<server IAS address>:<port number>/<jsp file path>/<repName>.jsp?server=<report server name>&userid=<user>/<pwd>@<DB conn string>[&<param>=<valore>[&...]]
    5) In IE you have only to set the previous URL in the address bar.

  • Report Server Misbehaviour

    Hi,
We encountered a typical issue on our production AS box and would request your attention to understand this issue & its reason. The details are:
    Platform: Oracle9iAS R-2 9.0.2.3 on Windows-2000 SP-4
    1. We have Oracle9i Reports deployed on Application Server. The compiled report (REP) of the RDF file. All these reports are designed to be in PDF format and using the default "Courier New" font.
    2. The same AS host is also configured with a Report Server Ver. 9.0.2.3 (named: REPSERVER) & reports are executed via browser. The reports are executed to be displayed on screen using DESTYPE=CACHE in URL.
    3. The Report Server is running on AS via command prompt i.e. $Mid_Tier_Home/bin/>rwserver server=REPSERVER
    4. All the reports are generated properly and in exactly right format till yesterday 3:20PM.
    5. Suddenly we observed that the "Fonts" of the report has been changed when reports are generated from browser. It is taking some other fonts, appered to be "Tahoma" font. Because of this, the report formatting was disturbed completely. This we have noticed all of sudden and there were no activity performed on our production box except Users are accessign the applicaiton deployed there.
    6. We stopped & restarted the report server, but it had no effect.
    7. Then we restarted the complete production box and tried as above. But it had no effect.
    8. Then we started the report server as WINDOW Service and tried running the reports via browser. To our surprise, it has worked. That is, the reports are being displayed again in the RIGHT Format and everything turns to be good as it was earlier.
+ And this has really puzzled me like anything. The Report Server was running as in point. no. 3 for almost 4 months now and all reports were generated OK all the times. This is production server.
+ I may like to know is there anything to do with the Report Server or Application Server in 9iAS. As why all of suddent it starts misbehaving and formatting got distubed. And it is OK again when i have started the report server as Window Service.
+ The formatting got disturbed wheneven i am trying with the report server started via command-prompt.
+ I would request you to pls. help me to understand this phenomenon. Is it having any sense or i may have to look for other points. May be it may misbehave again even with Service also.
+ So, i would like to know the reason and help me to understand this issue.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Kamesh Rastogi

Work for me by navigating to the "1033_enu_lp / x64 / setup" under the SQL Server 2012 SP1 (not the "SQL Server 2012 SP1" installation, but the update only pack), then execute rssharepoint and Repair. The first execution it failed (setup
rolled back), a re-execution fixed the problem.

  • Running reports on Oracle 10.1.2 report server

I am running a report from the application and this particular report gets stuck randomly at formatting a certain page.
On the report server I see the job status as...
"Job status: Running the report Formatting page 42. Please wait. "
eventually the report server times out.
    Environment is...
Report builder 10.1.2.0.2 (Report is build with this version)
    Report application server is 10.1.2.0.2
    Databse - Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0 - Production
We have same problem with couple of reports, but not all.
Another report runs fine (1 page report) sometimes and hangs with the above job status some times.
Has anyone encountered this issue and what is the resolution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kishore

    Hello,
A right report takes time some seconds. I donĀ“t want a timeout, I just want it to be executed.
The report server show the message:
"Job status: running the report Formatting page N. Please wait"
where N can be 1,2,50,.... any page.
    Thanks.

How do I find the report server name, and then run paper report from forms?
I am having a problem running report 9i from forms 9i (see below thread). How do I find out the name of the report server? I checked my C:\ids\reports\conf directory but don't see anything that gives me the name of the reports server. I also don't have a iashome directory.
Also, I just want to run the paper report (not the web version).
    Thanks.

    Hi,
please read teh Forms / Reports integration paper in teh Collateral section for Oracle9i Forms at otn.oracle.com/products/forms
In summary, you have to create an external Reports Service that you can then give a name.

  • Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client

    Hi all,
I tried to create a own report servlet with the Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client.
The reason I want to have a own report servlet is, I want to have a own path to access the reports. At the moment it is possible to access the reports with the following two URL's. http://HOST:PORT/reports/rwservlet or http://HOST:PORT/repdemo/rwservlet.
But I want to access the reports with the following URL: http://HOST:PORT/mypath/rwservlet
I did the following. I downloaded the OC4J version of the reports thin client, altered the paths in the reports.ear to 'mypath' instead of 'reports' and deployed the application in a new created OC4J instance within my Oracle 9iAS Server.
After the application was deployed I added the two libraries zrclient.jar and rwrun.jar under the General Properties of the newly created reports application. When the path of this two libraries is showing to the extracted OC4J thin client I get the following error:

  • Reports Server: REP-3000

    Hi all,
I have the following system setup:
    OS: SuSE SLES-7 Linux
    Kernel: 2.4.7-64GB-SMP
    Memory: 1GB RAM
    SWAP: 2GB
When I try to run the test report on the "Getting Started with Oracle9i Reports" I get the following error in a new Browser Window:
    - Error
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
I don't want to use the standard X server. I decided to use Xvfb.
    I performed the following steps:
    - Shutdown of Oracle9iASr2, according to metalink note: 200475.1 (oracle)
    - $ emctl stop
    - $ webcachectl stop
    - $ dcmctl shutdown
After that the 9iASr2 instance was sucessfully halted.
    - Shutdown the standard X server which was running on display number 0 (root)
    - Start Xfvb as root, according metalink note: 208745.1 (root)
    - $ nohup /usr/bin/X11/Xvfb :50 -screen 0 1024x800x8 -pn -fp /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc -sp /etc/X11/xserver/SecurityPolicy &
    - $ DISPLAY=$(hostname):50.0; export DISPLAY
    - $ /usr/X11R6/bin/xhost +
I also tested to execute the command xclock and I got no error.
    - 9iASr2 config changes (oracle)
    - Changed DISPLAY variable in .profile to the new value
    - $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh
    - DISPLAY=lindi:50; export DISPLAY
    - $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml
    - <prop name="DISPLAY" value="localhost:50.0"/>
    - This entry is in the OC4J_BI_Forms config tag. is that correct?
    - Startup 9iASr2 (oracle)
    - $ emctl start
    - Connect to OEM and started the whole instance. All processed were sucessfull started
    - I was able to connect to OEM, this means the Xvfb Frame Buffer is setup correctly otherwise I would not be able to connect to the EnterpriseManager. Is that correct?
    - I was able to check the failed jobs in the reports server. That means the report server is running.
    - I was able to run my forms application.
    - I open the "Getting Started with Oracle9i Reports" page in a browser and got the error decribed above.
To me it seems that there has to be another DISPLAY variable I did not set correctly. Because when I start another X server with the user oracle on display 0 then I'm able to run the report sucessfully. But I don't want to start the standard X server, because then I need access to the console, and I not always have access to it.
Does anybody know what that could be and help me,
    thanks
    Oliver

Try the solution provided in the Release Notes Addendum section 5.10.15 (Component issues)
Anyway I am providing the notes here.
5.10.15 Reports in-process server gives REP-3000 error when running report
When running a sample report using the report in-process server, an error message
like the following can appear in the browser:
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
Use the following sample URL to test for this error message using the appropriate
hostname, domainname, port and two_task entries:
    http://hostname.domainname:port/reports/rwservlet?report=test.rdf&userid=scott/t
    iger@two_task&destype=cache&desformat=htmlcss
If the REP-3000 error message appears, the display is not set correctly. When
running a report server from the command line, the environment variable DISPLAY
setting is used. However, the reports in-process server uses the following
configuration file for the display setting:
    $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_BI_Forms/config/oc4j.properties
The default display entry is as follows:
    oracle.display=:0.0
On some servers, there might not be an X server running on :0.0 or this entry
might not be resolved correctly. In such cases, change the display setting to a
machine where an X server is present and can be accessed by this server.
To test whether an X server is running on given machine and you have permissions
to connect to it, you can use the following command:
    xterm -display myserver:0.0
If you do not have permissions to access the display or if there is no such display
running on the given machine, an error similar to the following is displayed:
Xlib: connection to "myserver:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
xterm Xt error: Can't open display: myserver:0.0
Once you have identified a machine with a valid X server, or started the display on
the server machine being used, you can change the default entry to the new display.
For example to use the X server running on myserver:0.0 we would change the
    default entry to:
    oracle.display=myserver:0.0
After these changes are completed, it is necessary to restart the Forms/Reports oc4j
    instance with the following commands:
    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin
    $ ./opmnctl stopproc type=oc4j instancename=oc4j_bi_forms
    $ ./opmnctl startproc type=oc4j instancename=oc4j_bi_forms
You can now test the sample URL again to make sure that the in-process server
works correctly. When using the sample URL, the sample test.rdf report should
    be displayed in the browser.

  • How to disable or rename Oracle Report Server servlet command?

    Hi,
    I'm using Oracle9i App Server R2.
I would like to learn how to disable or rename Oracle Report Server's servlet command?
This is to avoid user from accessing http://myserver/reports/rwservlet/showmap to view the key map file content.
    Please advise.

or example, my report server was rep_appserver, then i want to rename it to rep_test.
Here some step to accomplish it,
    1. stop mid-tier
    $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin\opmnctl stopall
    2. stop em website
    $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl stop iasconsole
    3. rename $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\rep_<old_report_server_name>.conf to something else or delete it
    4. rename $ORACLE_HOME\reports\server\rep_<old_report_server_name>.dat to something else or delete it
    5. edit $ORACLE_HOME\reports\conf\rwservlet.properties file then change the SERVER parameter to new report server name(remember this new name has to be a unique name)
    6. create a backup copy of the $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\emd\targets.xml file
    7. open $ORACLE_HOME\sysman\emd\targets.xml, find old report server name and then replace it to new report server name
    8. save new targets.xml file
    9. open $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\conf\opmn.xml, old report server name and then replace it to new report server name
    10. start em website
    $ORACLE_HOME\bin\emctl start iasconsole
    11. start mid-tier
    $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin\opmnctl startall

  • Minimum hardware requirement for Report server with 4 engines ??

    Hello all ,
Can someone please tell what is the minimun Hardware requirement to be able to run a Oracle 91 AS with report server having 4 engines ??
and where I can find this kind of documentation.
We have a Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE running on a machine with under 1 ghz power and around 300 mb RAM
, but the report server seems to keep crashing ..
    Can anyone pls advice
    Thanks

    Hi,
For calculating the minimum hardware requirements, you may need to look at various factors:
    1. No of reports requests that need to be processed per second
    2. Whether all these requests are synchronous or asynchronous
    3. Response time required
    4. Type of reports - large amounts of data, large no of images, etc
    5. How much caching you are using
    6. No of queries in your report
    7. Simple / complex layout of the report
    and so on.
So just the information of 4 engines may not be sufficient for trying to calculate the hardware requirements. One useful reference point for you may be the Oracle9i Reports Scalability whitepaper:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/index.html
It lists the number of users supported on some pre-defined hardware configurations, and the average response time for the reports server.
You might also want to take a look at the paper on "Tuning Oracle Reports":
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/reports/htdocs/search.html?cat=SAP&col=ALC&submit=Search
However, it is also possible that your Reports Server is crashing due to some other problem (not the hardware configuration).
By the way, your RAM seems to be too low for Oracle9iAS installation. See the installation guide for minimum hardware requirements.

  • Oracle9i  Report

    Hi all:
Have any customize example or suggestion about how to make Jheadstart application with Oracle9i report service cowork ?

You can use a generic JavaScript function:
    function doReport(params)
    var url = "http://reportservermachine.myweb.nl/cgi-bin/rwcgi60/rwdgi60?" + params;
    this.window.location.href=url;
That is called by a report specific JavaScript function:
    function preDoReport(reportname, param1, param2)
    var params = reportname.value + "&p_param1=" + param1.value + "&p_param2=" + param2.value;
    doReport(params);
You can call this for example by using a button.
You also can make it more generic, by parameterizing the URL of the report server, and by changing the functions to pass an array of parameters that can have any size, instead of a fixed number.
