Oracle9i ver1 installation?

Hi,
I installed 9i ver1, for some testing, on my laptop. The installation seamed went through but the agent (OracleOraHome90Agent) did not start automatically even after rebooting.Agent service is set to "Automatic" but does not start and even I cannot start it manually. Following that, I cannot login in OEM as well.
Anything wrong with installation?
Thanks

I set virtual memory to 1000MB and assigned a static IP to my laptop but no success for starting Agent.
Here is what I got in log file OracleOraHome90Agent.nohup :
Service name is OracleOraHome90Agent
Failed while initializing Comm service
Error initializing subsystems
Agent exited on 10/26/2006 12:12 with return value 55
Could not start agent. Initialization failure
Agent startup failed. Check C:\oracle\ora90\network\log\OracleOraHome90Agent.nohup for details

  • Oracle9i client installation steps(windows'xp)

    Hi,
i am installing oracle9i client in my Personal computer.when i am installing it is asking service name and hostname. In that what i have to mention and SID name also, please send me some installation steps..environment is windows'xp(40GB Hard disk). In c:\ freespace iss 5 GB. It is enough to install the oralce9i ..

    just curious.
did install Oracle9i database or Oracle9i client?
Oracle9i database is the database server you can connect to,
while Oracle9i client is the client to connect to remote database
if it's only client you should to know the instance name and
the server name where the database reside, ask you DBA maybe?

  • Oracle9i Rel2 installation fails on Redhat linux 7.3

    Hello there.
My m/c is Pentium III 500MHz m/c with 320MB physical RAM and it has Redhat Linux 7.3 installed.
I'm trying to install oracle 9i and it fails in DB creation. The "dbca" shows an error message
"ORA-27123: unable to attach to shared memory segment" when it is at 51% through.
I have configured 1.9GB of swap space. The "ipcs" command do show some shared memory allocation under "oracle" user id with "0777" permission. I can't really figure where to start in analysing this problem. Your inputs are very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

You need to know that while installing Oracle software itself you must not invoke any wizard like adjusting Oracle network or creating databases , just finish of the Installation , restart machine and start configuring the network and databases , this approach was very successfull with Servers who have less than 1 G Ram.
I have installed 9i R2 over 256M ram over Redhat 7.3 , no Problem JUST , if this problems happens after installing the Oracle software itself , it is reported by Oracle that it has bug in this version that happens for instance when you open a shell window , startup a database and exit SQL+ , when trying to shut it down from the same window it returns the same stated error before , I managed to solve it by ( from inside SQL+ ) giving :
    !ipcs oracle
    Then
    !ipcrm ****
**** = the id numbers of Oracle processes for shared memory realm.
Then exit SQl+ , open another shell window , start SQL+ and we are back on business again.
This is all instead of resatrting the server.

  • Oracle9i Apache Server and Tomcat

    Hi,
Currently I have an Oracle9i database installed which has it's own Apache Webserver installed but I don't use it. Instead I am using the latest version of Apache in another directory. What I would like to do is upgrade the version of Apache that came with the Oracle9i database installation and then delete the extra Apache Webserver I am using now? Is it as simple as replacing the contents of the ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache folder?
I also use Tomcat to serve up the servlets and JSP's...does Oracle9i have anything similar to Tomcat already integrated? If not could I install Tomcat into the ORACLE_HOME/Apache folder instead of having it reside in another directory?
    TIA.

r.- why do you want to do that if the Apache that comes with Oracle has more resources than the another Apache ?

r.- tell me exactly what you can carry out in the web server and I will be able to tell you how do it.

  • Oracle9i and Apache

I installed Oracle9i database, which also installs Apache web-
    server.
The SSL subsystem seems to have taken over. Port 80 will
only service in a secure mode, ex., https://.
Is the httpd.conf file, configured correctly on istall. I have
tried may configurations, and only the secure mode seems to
    work.
Can you help me to understand why this is so. Or send me a
.conf file, that will allow pages to be served in a non-
    secure mode.
    - Thanks,

  • More problems on installing 9i on RedHat 7.0

I have problems installing 9i at RH70 also. But in my case I
can't even start Oracle Installer, only generate a segmentation
fault. (I can't reproduce this behaviour installing 9iAS release
1, by the way) Two doubts:
    - Can somebody confirm whether install 9i on RH7.0 is absolutely
impossible? I saw someone wrote that installation on 7.1 is
    perfect, but no upgrading.
    - How many RAM do I really need? I got 9i CDs from pack sent to
iDevelop 2001 public, but I found on docs that minimum is 256MB
("Oracle9i: Quick Installation Procedure" part number A90352-01)
and 512 MB also (last one on "Oracle 9i Installation Checklist"
part number A90455). I have exactly 256 MB RAM.

Here's how to find out which RH release you're running:
    Do a
rpm -qa | grep -i redhat
On a RH 7.0 the output will contain the line
    redhat-release-7.0-1
on a RH 7.2 it will read
    redhat-release-7.2-1
I don't have a 7.1 system at hand but I assume it will read
    redhat-release-7.1-1
    there.
    Hope this helps

  • Oracle 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4 on Win 2000

In the OTN downloads page, I see that I can download the database for version 9.2.0.1 (Standard Edition), for Win 2000.
I have been informed that the Developer Suite for 9i, with the 9.2.0.6.0 patch, is certified to run with database 9.2.0.3 or 9.2.0.4.
My question: Is database 9.2.0.3 (or 9.2.0.4) also available as an OTN download? If so, how can I access it?
Alternately: Does anyone have reliable information as to whether Developer Suite 9i (with patch 9.2.0.6.0) can also run against database 9.2.0.1? (All on Win 2000).
I am stressing the patch 9.2.0.6.0 issue, as I am told that prior to this patch, there were problems with setting up the Repository (needed for working with Designer).
Thanks in advance for any information on this.
    Eliram Braudo

Nope. There is no Database 9.2.0.3 for Win 32-bit (cd-pack/full release).
There is Database 9.2.0.1 (full release) and Patch Sets that brings it up to 9.2.0.3 (or .4 or .2). Patch Sets are, as I know, only available from Metalink with a valid support contract.
Note that AS and DS are 9.*0*.2. (confusing, yeah!)
Here on OTN we can find:
    Oracle9i Designer Release 9.0.2.6.0 - a full, patch release for Oracle9i Designer
(You must install this over your Oracle9i DS installation)
Note the difference - patchset is for Designer/Repository 9i as part of DS, not the whole DS product stack (latest patchset for Forms & Reports is 9.0.2.3 I think). Patching Oracle (except for DB) is messy as always I guess ;)
I would guess that Oracle Support recommends to have DS patchset 9.0.2.2 installed also...
And cert info includes a requirement for at least 9.2.0.3 (DB) so I guess you have smoe patching to look forward to ;-D

  • Server Side Install on Solaris

    Hello,
I have OWB 9.2.0.2 client on WinXP (Design Time Install) and Oracle 9.2.0.2 database on Solaris. I have to install Server Side Components and run Runtime Assistant to create Runtime Repository and Runtime Access User.
I have downloaded OWB 9.2.0.2.8 for Solaris.
When I start Universal Installer I get message that I must have different Oracle Home for this installation. If I enter different home on same user, what will happen with old environment home variable ORACLE_HOME? This database is important and I don't know what will happen with environment variables? So, I created another user and new oracle home "oracle9i_owb". When I set environment and start installation \usr\....\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.oui\2.2.0.14.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\install\solaris\runInstaller.sh there is a mesasage: %PROD_HOME%\install: does't exist.
So I created environment variable PROD_HOME that looks on ....\Expanded\ but it doesn't work. (PROD_HOME is inside new ORACLE_HOME due to instructions in guide that came with this installation.)
    What is the problem here?
    Thanx,
    Branimir

  • OCCI (Oracle 9i) in cygwin on W2K

I would like to know if it's possible to compile and link the samples (for example occipool.cpp) in cygwin.
I am having problems to link to the Oracle libraries. They all seems to be .lib and I was expecting something like .a or .so
    Thanks.

Maybe I was not clear, but what I want to link with, are the OCCI libraries. And for some reason, this is not working (that's why I ask here and not in Cygwin forums).
The compilation was fine, but the linking gives the message :
    undefined reference to `oracle::occi::Environment::createEnvironment
    That's Oracle specific.
You say that there's a version using gcc 2.95.x does it have something to do with this :
    http://www.leroybrown.com/oracletips.html
But this solution works for RedHat and I am using Cygwin.
Please tell me if it is possible to link from Cygwin with libraries of the Oracle9i W2K installation.
    Here is the command :
    $ g++ ora_conn_pool.o

  • Javaw.exe hangs on Win 2k

I'm having a problem with j2sdk1.4.2_10 whereby whenever I try to run the install program for anything that uses java, they all hang right after the javaw.exe process appears. The installs unzip okay, then just disappear leaving javaw and the install program processes running. This is true for StyleReport Pro, Eclipse and others.
Any ideas why it would just hang?

  • WebToGo Standalone : server not found

I have installed oracle 9iLite (v5) on my computer (Mobile server and SDK) in standalone mode, but I can't access to the server.
The start-up of wetgogo.exe is successful and I am able to verify the service is available by accessing "http://mobileserver/webtogo/startup", however, each time I try to access "http://mobileserver" (workspace or wtgpack) I have an error 'WTG10109 : URL not found'. I don't understand because wtgdebug is running fine and also my proxy is configured fine (I hope). Is anybody able to help me?
    Thanks Guillaume

Are you using the correct machine name? Go to the Network neighborhood icon and right-click it and then click properties, there you should find your machine name. Make sure that the machine name that you are putting in your URL destination is the same as the machine name listed in the properties portion of your network neighborhood on your desktop.
Have you applied the two most recent patches to your Oracle9i Lite installation?
There have a couple of bugs (which are posted on metalink) that Oracle TAR support was unaware of.
    good luck.
