How many notes indicate that the inventory is corrupted, but my file ContentsXML / inventory.xml contains good, the information for my 3 enviroment rdbms and 10.1.2/10.1.3.
I check my opatch inventory-detail for rdbms, 10.1.2/10.1.3 and everything seems fine.
I appreciate any help you can give.

  • Oracle 10g 2 - 10.2.0.2 Patch seti without instance

    Hi,
    I'm installing Oracle 10g 2 - 10.2.0.2.
I installed base release 10g 2 and then i have installed the patch set 10.2.0.2 (Linux x86).
It's a new installation, so there isn't an instance.
When i use dbca to create the DB i receive the error
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced.
So i think i should execute catupgrd.sql like described in readme of patch, but if there ins't an instance, how could i connect to the db as sysdba?
    Thanks!

If you don't currently have any database, then you don't need to run the catupgrade script, this is meant only for databases so the data dictionary is upgraded on an individual basis. Just ensure you have properly applied the patchset against the right Oracle Home and ensure your environment variables are properly set.

  • Note on applying patches to the file system and database

    Dear all,
I am new to Oracle E-business suite. Anyone in the house that can give a note (either a step by step or oracle metalink note) on how to apply patches to a file system or database.
    Kind Regards.

    Hi,
Steps to apply an application patch:
    - Stop all application services (keep the database and the database listener up and running)
    - Download the patch from Metalink
    - Copy the patch file to any directory (i.e. /u04/patches)
    - As 'applmgr' do the following:
    - Source the environment file
    - $ cd /u04/patches
    - Type 'unzip <patch_number>.zip'
    - cd <patch_number>
    - Type 'adpatch'
    - When it prompts you to enter the patch driver, type 'u<patch_number>.drv'
Apply the patch on the database tier first then on the application tier.
Do not forget to 'Enable Maintenance Mode' from adadmin before applying the patch. Once you apply the patch successfully, 'Disable Maintenance Mode' from adadmin.
And, always follow the steps in the patch README file.
For database patches, follow the steps in the patch README file and apply the patch using opatch as oracle user.
For more details about applying patches, please refer to:

  • Installing ABAP 6.40 SR 1 on Oracle 10g

    Good Day,
I will like to install SAP 4.7 Enterprise using kernel 6.40 on Oracle 10g. I have successfuly gone to Oracle 10g via the upgrade process by
    a) Installing Oracle 9.2.x upto patchset 9.2.0.7
    b) Then upgrade to Oracle 10g patchset 10.2.0.2
I have already downloaded Oracle 10g DVD's (five of them)
Our production system is Oracle 10g, I will like to refresh QAS to Oracle 10g, so I am just enquring whether a direct install to Oracle 10g is possible, and then perfrom a restore.
If it is possible, please direct me to the CORRECT installing guide and DVD's.
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    VKM...

    > a) I want to build my QAS server from scratch with Oracle 10g installation. The version of SAP is 4.7 Enterprise  Ext 110, with 6.40 kernel.
    For this you either need
    - an Oracle 9.2.0 client (949116 - Oracle 10g Support on Windows: 6.40-Based SAP Systems)
    - or exchange during the database creation the kernel 6.40 with 6.40_EX2 so you don't need the 9.2 client but you use the 10.2 client.
    > After this then I want to restore from production which is already Oracle 10g.
Why first installing the system and then restoring? This can be done in one step with the system copy procedure.
    >  b) The DVD I am using is Master "Installation_Master_6.20_6.40_07_07"
I would recommend downloading the newest installation Master CD.
    > c) During the installation under section "Database Server and Client"
    >
    > The option to choose is available for Server "102 or 920", but only "920" appears for Client.
Yes - because at that time there was no kernel which uses the Oracle 10.2 client. That is desribed in above note.
    > When I reach the screen that asks for

    > "RDBMS Client Oracle 920"  it is looking for a label
    > ORACLE:9.2.0.7:CLRDBMS:. which I don't have and can't seem to find on "SAP Service Market place".

    > N.B All the software (SAP & Oracle) for the installation was downloaded from ServiceMarketPlace

I dont have oraInventory and i followed :
How to Create a Clean oraInventory in Release 12 [ID 834894.1]
My oraInventory which i created its shows:
    inventory_loc=/etc/oraInventory
    inst_group=dba
    Any one has idea?

Edited by: Helios- Gunes EROL on Jul 13, 2010 5:57 PM

You say you have 10.1.3.0 and your message says "There are no patches that need to applied from the patchset Oracle application Server Patchset *10.2.3.5*"
    You can't patch 10.1.2 with a 10.1.3.
are you sure you have the appropriated patch?

  • Applying security patch to Oracle 10G on Linux

    Hello,
I'm new to Oracle DBA world, need to apply security patch to Oracle 10G on Linux server, any tips and notes would be appreciated.
    thanks
    Sam

    Manish,
    1. I have to upgrade the database version from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 on Linux, Is there any proper documentation which will help me out? Please refer to the following document.
Note: 454750.1 - Oracle Apps Release 12 with Oracle Database 10.2.0 interoperability notes
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=454750.1
    2. What are the types of oracle database patches? what is the proper procedure to apply those kind of patches to Oracle 10g on Linux?
Most of the patches in this upgrade are database patches (which should be applied using opatch). The main upgrade patch (Patch 6810189 - 10.2.0.4 patch set) should be applied using Oracle Universal Installer (runInstaller).
Always follow the steps in the patch README file before applying any patch.

Please this is the follwing answer that was given to explain the purpose of patching the latest release of Oracle 10g release 2.
We are applying the patch to the 32bit environment to resolve memory errors.
This patch should be applied to the 64bit environments too as to maintain consistency in our database versions

You can find more information about a patchset by going over the readme document associated with the patch. As such, it is not exactly clear what kind of information you are looking for.
