  • Oracle JHeadstart 10g release 9.0.5.1 now available!

    All,
Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 is now available. More than a month ago Oracle released Oracle JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1). This new JHeadstart release is certified against both JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 and 9.0.5.2. You can now benefit the strong combination of the new versions of Oracle JDeveloper and JHeadstart.
    What is Oracle JHeadstart?
JHeadstart is a development tool kit, fully integrated with JDeveloper, that enables rapid component based development of J2EE applications using the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern. It provides customers with 4GL-like productivity without jeopardizing the flexibility and openness of the J2EE architecture. In addition it includes a bridge from Oracle Designer that enables customers to generate fully functioning J2EE applications from Oracle Designer or to migrate Oracle Forms to J2EE.
What is new in this release?
In addition to the certification mentioned above this release includes the following new features:
    - Support for Oracle TopLink, adding extra flexibility.
    - A Tutorial that describes and a demo application that shows how to use JHeadstart in conjunction with TopLink based on multiple project experiences.
    - Links from the Applications Structure File editor to both the BC4J property editor as well as the JHeadstart Application Generator which streamlines the development process.
    - Pop-lists for regions and domains to prevent typing errors
    - Generation of regions in JSP pages
    - Fixes, for a complete list of fixes please refer to the release notes.
    Where to download?
This maintenance release can be downloaded from the supplement option portal ( http://cso.oracle.com/ ) for customers that hold a supplement option license. It will be available for evaluation purposes on OTN later on.
Where to go for more information?
For more information go to the JHeadstart Product Center on OTN http://otn.oracle.com/consulting/9iServices/JHeadstart2.html.

  • Exception [TOPLINK-46] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4) (Build 031126))

    Hi,
I am using TopLink for simple Department-Employee relation, i have my project xml configured, But i am facing the problem with following exception
    Descriptor Exceptions:
    Exception [TOPLINK-46] (OracleAS TopLink - 10g (9.0.4) (Build 031126)): oracle.toplink.exceptions.DescriptorException
Exception Description: There should be one non-read-only mapping defined for the primary key field [emp.empno].
    Descriptor: Descriptor(com.oracle.mssql.emp.toplink.EmpTopLinkBean --> [DatabaseTable(emp)])
    Runtime Exceptions:
    What could be the reason?
    Thanks
    Madhu

My best guess would be that you have a 1:1 mapping from Employee to Department. This mapping represents part of the primary key.
Make sure that your 1:1 mapping is not configured as read-only. Another issue is that you may have set the relationship as target foreign key. This has the same effect as read-only and is not applicable in the 1:1 returning from a 1:M.

  • Download link for Developer Suite 10g 10.1.2 for Windows not working

I cannot download Oracle Developer Suite 10g 10.1.2 for Windows. The link redirects to the Application Server download page following the license agreement.

I downloaded it a few minutes ago and it opens ok.
But the file size is 671 825 075 instead of the (626,122,752 bytes) written on the DS 10g for Windows page.

At the point 'Map the Java Classes: Create One-to-One Mappings' (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/10131/main/_tutorial/index.htm) I'm not able to select a table reference because there is no one available.
As result i get the following message after generating 'Mapping Status Report':

Package example.model -> One of the descriptors in this package is incomplete.
Descriptor Employee -> Some mappings are incomplete.
Mapping address -> No table reference is selected.

Did I make a mistake or is there a wrong configuration? Please help.
    I'm using:
    JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0

    Windows XP

    Update

Yes I did. But my database storage engine is set to MyISAM which don't support foreign keys. So this 'error' results from database configuration (Info: InnoDB do support foreign keys).
I'm wondering why the queries didn't throw any errors. So the foreign key/reference part was just skipped.
    Thank you very much, rsapir.
    PS:
How can I configure configure 'application side' references/associations? It is described in the TopLink Developers Guide on site 34-10 ... but I have no Add/New Buttons?

  • Upgrade Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 x64 to Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
I am a little confused because I have Windows Server 2008 64 bit operating system and had installed Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) prior to the Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 install package becoming available.
My database needs no backup of data as it is a fresh installation so its removal is not a problem.
To now upgrade to Oracle 11g 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008 do I need to
    a) Uninstall Oracle 11.1.0.6.0 (x64) and then install Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 on Windows Server 2008
    or
    b) Apply patch 6890831 (will this upgrade from 11.1.0.6.0 x64 to 11.1.0.7.0 for Windows Server 2008?)
Any help much appreciated as having looked at documentation I am still confused what I need to do.
    Thanks.

Muhammad AliOkay I've haven't done 1z0-045 ... but I at one point I was considering 1z0-050 so I'm willing to share my views on an upgrade exam and exams in general.
Remember Oracle are trying to ensure that a DBA who was tested at 8i DBA OCP has nw
It depends on your definition of read the topics. If you mean literally just read the topics then that will result in a failure. If you mean study research practice and fully understand the topics that should lead to a pass.
Bear in mind that Oracle would expect a competent 8i DBA attending the 5 day training course Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Oracle8i DBAs [http://education.oracle.com/web_prod-plq-dad/plsql/show_desc.redirect?dc=D17389GC10&p_org_id=&lang=&source_call=] to be able pass the exam with perhaps 2 to 4 weeks further study, revision and practice.
Interestingly this particular exam has a relatively high pass mark (73%) ... one implication of that is that it is prudent to be comfortable with all topics.
Generally an upgrade exam will cover topics beyond that of the straight OCA/OCP exams. The questions will obviously be at OCP level.
It is possilble the Sybex book Oracle 10g New Features for Administrators Study Guide (Certification Study Guide) ISBN-13: 978-0782143553 which although for 1z0-040 may have some relevance for some of your topics. If you choose to purchase it that is your choice. (It seems to have good amazon reviews ... though all of these books can contain errors, it may or may not be updated for 10gR2, and some Sybex Oracle books are sometimes OTT in some areas IMHO, but that wouldn't stop me using one).

  • Require 10.2.0.2 in Oracle Database 10g release 2 series for XPprofessional

I am trying to install Oracle Application Server SOA Suite 10.1.3.1.0 on my machine. MY OS is Microsoft Windows XP Professional. I have Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.1.0 on my machine.
After I give my database information at the time of installation, the Universal Installer throws the following error:
Database version should be 9.2.0.7 or higher in the Oracle 9i Database Release 2 series, 10.1.0.5 or higher in the Oracle Database 10g release 1 series, Oracle Database XE (10.2.0.1), 10.2.0.2 or higher in the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 series.
So according to this error, I need 10.2.0.2 or higher in the Oracle Database 10g Release 2 series. Now when I am searching 10.2.0.2 or higher version for Microsoft Windows in Download Section of Oracle Technology Network, I am unable to find it.
Please tell me where could I find it? Or is there any other solution to this error.
I need the solution urgently. Please reply.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashish

I need the solution urgently. Please reply.Urgent?
As in it is required for a business functionality, in which the business will gain some advantage through the implementation?
    As in 'needed for production'?
As in 'requiring a production license for which Support may be purchased'?
Or perhaps, as in 'needing to evaluate and therefore having contacted Oracle Sales to obtain a Trail License with a temporary Support Agreement'?
If the version you want is not on the Database Download page and not on one of the links, and IS listed in Oracle Certify as being current, then you need to download patches through your valid Metalink account (based on paid support contract/agreement) to get to that version.

  • Oracle 9.0.1.1.1 For Windows/2000 HTTP server

I can not start Oracle HTTP Server after Oracle 9.0.1.1.1 installation . I am getting error : The application or DLL $ORA_HOME\Apache\JServ\ApacheModuleJServ.dll is not a Valid Windows Image . Bad dll file in install disks ?
    File ApacheModuleJServ.dll size 54K . Please send a valid ApacheModuleJServ.dll .

The Calendar SDK was only certified for the platforms you list, although I don't expect you would encounter any platform-specific problems using it on Windows 2000 or XP. That said, those platforms are not officially supported for 9.0.4.2, with all that implies.
The upcoming 9.0.5 release should be certified for Windows 2000 (only - and, of course, subject to change up until it actually ships).
