Orange BT Openzone Problem

Has anyone successfully managed to connect to BT Openzone from an Orange iPhone since New Year?
Neil

I have just got an Iphone 3gs on Orange £35 per month tariff.
Was in Sutton Coldfield on Wednesday nite and tried numerous times to log onto the BT Open Zone using the username (my phone number) and the password texted to me.
I am very computer literate and couldnt get it to log in.
The process isnt too clear though - should we be using BT Open Zone from the initial screen pull down list, or Orange UK (which confusingly gives us a screen telling us its for Business Users to log in only).
Phoned orange on 150 yesterday and got them to send me as new password. When into Sutton Coldfield to try it today - still wouldnt work. Even went into the Orange shop and asked them - they didnt have a clue!!
The instructions on the Orange broadband site are very poor (almost written as an afterthought). If I am to receive access to BT Open Zone for my £35 per month then I feel cheated as I cant do that at the moment!!
Will try to contact orange again later. If anyone has got it to work which provider do you choose from the login screen - the default (BT Open Zone) or the Orange UK one (which is supposed to be for business users?!)

  • BT Openzone problem in London

    Hi,
I live in London, UK, and have a BT Total Broadband connection, which I just realised came with inclusive BT Openzone minutes. I rand BT Openzone and they immediately set up an account for me with username and password, and told me to go to a hotspot with my MacBook and just log in. I have gone to a Starbucks in Central London and started up my laptop and immediately airport picks up the signal from the network called 'tmobile'. So far so good. The problem is what to do next: they told me that just by launching Safari, I would be automatically directed to a page where I would be able to enter my username and password. Well, that doesn't happen. I do get a really strong signal from the network, but the browser keeps trying to contact my homepage, instead of showing the login page for the network.
I have tried several times, but to no avail. The browser keeps trying to access www.bbcnews.com and won't show the login page that should pop up automatically.
Can anyone help? It's really frustrating...
    Thanks in advance
    Jess (London)

I (obviously) didn't realise that they collaborated!
Did you check for proxies in the Network preference pane? If you have any they might interfere with the redirect [to the billing / sign-in page] that should happen when you try to browse to a website.
You might find that the most straightforward thing is to create a new location with the default settings next time you have a go...
I have never had any problems using any wireless LAN with my PowerBook G4 - including t-mobile (in the USA).

  • Orange livebox connection problem

has anyone managed to connect their i-phone to their orange livebox? Orange tech support in India is hopeless...and Apple support in the UK is equally useless. I cant believe that these two massive players in the global communications industry cannot deal with a problem like this.

What kinds of problems are you having?
Did you search the Orange Livebox website? Since the iPhone settings are somewhat similar to what a macintosh would use, I found this on their website.

You can probably skip down to the actual settings area where it shows you how to get your WEP key, etc.

  • Orange mail software problem when using distribution lists : some lists cannot be used for writing e-mails. The problem does not exist when using Internet Explo

When writing an e-mail directly on the Orange e-mail service (not on Thunderbird) I am facing the following problem : some distribution lists cannot be used to complete the adressees. The same lists can be used without difficulty if I use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox. The Orange hotline told me that probably my Firefox version was not updated. Unfortunately I checked that, and apparently the automatic updating works. I have also updated the plug ins, without any result.

Please could you specify which webpage you mean ?
The process with Orange is the following :
    - 1. click on "Write an e-mail" on the mail webpage
    - 2. click on "To" to reach the Contacts which opens a new window
    - 3. click on "Distribution lists"
    - 4. click on the selected list then click on "add". The list appears ot the box corresponding to the addresses .
    UNTIL THEN EVERYTHING WORKS WELL
    - 5. click on the button "validate", which closes the window previously opened and normally
    - 6. reloads the initial page with the complete list on the line "To". Instead of that I get the last e-mail address I previously used .
    Question : at which step of this process should I try your suggestions ? I tried when the initial page was reloaded with the wrong address, but it did not work to get back the rignt distribution list;
Note that the whole process functions with OTHER Distribution lists. The only difference is that the problematic one has a larger number of adresses (62) however inferior to the maximum indicated by Orange (100).
I also remind that there is no problem when using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox.
    Thanks for your help !

  • BT Openzone Problems

    Hi,
i recently purchased the 30 day BT Openzone voucher to use until my internet is installed at home.
i was able to connect to the wifi yesterday without any problems, today i am connected with the wifi symbol present but unable to access any internet pages.
    Grateful for any help.
    Thanks

Try deleting any saved BT Wifi, BT FON and BTOpenzone wireless connections, then rescan again for the hotspot you want to connect to.
If you are using an Android device, then "forget" any existing connection as described above.

  • Orange PAYG big problems

    Hi,
I bought the 8520 on Saturday and registered it and was told it would take a few hours for the BIS to be activated. SInce then I have had nothing but three useless telephone conversations with Orange trying to acertain what the problem is.
I constantly check my balance to see if the £5 has been deducted for the BIS but it has not. Every time I call I am told that there are some known issues with registering the BIS for customers. This is rubbish because my friend bought a BB with Orange the exact same day on Pay Monthly and his services are working fine. When i ask what the problem is, no one can tell me. I have asked to be put through to Data Support who could check all the settings but the three operators in india that I have spoken to refuse to refuse to put me through saying that it is a known issue and that it "should be resolved in a few hours".
I am able to access the internet through my WiFi but I can not set up my emails (the whole reason for buying a BB), and I can not access the internet away from my WiFi connection. I know it is only three days since i bought my phone but surely I should be up and running by now. Has anyone else had issues with Orange PAYG? I am surprised that there are not other posts considering it is supposed to be such a huge problem.

    Hi mate.
I had exact problem. I bought my BlackBerry Bold 9000 on the Friday and got an Orange simcard (Dolphin) on pay as you go. I called up customer services to ask them to activate the £5 a month emil/web data plan and the guy told me it would happen within 24hours. On Saturday, it didn't happen. I alled again. And again on Sunday. On Monday , I called again and he told me had had cancelled all the applicatins and put a new onein and it would take 24 hours. Just checked my BlackBerry 30 mins ago and I got the text and my email and web is working. Absolutely riduclous service.
Do you have any texts from Orange? Delete them and reboot. Keep calling Orange every 24 hours and ask for a supervisor.  If all fails, send them an email through website. Worked for me It's not just me then, it's a lot of people. Orange sucks

  • N86 8mp orange. browers search problems.

hi everyone, i need help on web searching on orange and google pages . as iam trying to select  text box to enter search it doesnt let write anything in and its jumps to go button and loads the page again .
can anyone tell me how to go round this .
    thanks!

yep it should not be this way in this case. did you update your firmare to the latest relese v11? if you have not done so, it might be a good idea to give it a go. also you might want to consider reinstalling current firmware and see what happens. make sure you have a back up of your stuff prior to update/reinstall. here are some things you can also try aside from updating your phone. try #2 and see how this works for you.
     1. *#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list. The default code for ALL operations listed here is 12345
    2. *#7370# - Reformat your phone (out of the box, tho keep in mind that most newer nokia phones at least n series, e series and s60 based phones have udp - user data preservation so not ALL data may be lost. still it is a good idea to always do a back up of your stuff.)
    3. This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. If the phone is not showing any activity, proceed with hard formatting , turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
hard reset - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen. once you feel the phone power up you can let go off the power button while still holding all three buttons ( for Nokia 5800XM - use the following buttons to do a hard reset, GREEN/RED/CAMERA keys pressed all at once on power up. this will only work on 5800's that have firmware version 20... and up. )
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service for assistance.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

The best thing the pair of you can do is to contact your network for information on when they plan to offer this phone.

  • I have a nokia E61 on an orange monthly contract caller ID is not working

Hello all, Yes my trusty old Nokia E61 no longer shows caller ID. When I call a number in my contacts I get the name of the person I am callingText messages have the sender ID attachedIf I put the sim in another phone I get caller IDIf I put the sim from another phone in the E61 I get caller ID SO, today I went and did a sim swapI waited till my current sim lost signal (about 2 hours)I inserted the new simWhen I got home I called my Nokia E61 from my wifes EE iphone and our land line, both gave caller IDI then read and deleted the sms that orange sent me to update the sim and restarted the phone Guess what, no caller ID I called Orange support, they told me everyone on orange has this problem (yeah right I believe that) I am going to do another sim swap tomorrow and I will put the new sim in another phone till I get the message then I will put the new sim in my nokia which should sort it out. Anyone got any amazing ideads about this or can anyone verify Oranges cheesy explanation for the fault??

Hello Karen, Thank you for checking it for me. I did a sim swap on Sunday and it worked fine. I turned off my phone overnight and when I turned it back on in the morning, no caller ID.This fault is obviously something to do with the SIM update texts received after a new SIM is inserted. I put out a question on twitter asking for other orange users to contact me who are suffering this (as I have been told 95% of estate affected) problem. No-one else has it! I have talked to customer services about transferring my contract to an EE sim (contract expires in December) but was told no, I have to pay £170 to get out of the contract. My issue is this; I work in the property business, I have several properties I own and manage. When I miss a call now I get no ID from the caller or call back number. This is costing me money and stress as I keep getting upset tenants having a go at me for 'ignoring' them. I have aslo missed important calls from my financier! I am in a contract witnh Orange where I pay a fee for a service. That service is not being provided to an adequate standard and I will need compensation from Orange for my loss if I cannot transfer to an EE account. I do not want another contract, I do not want a new handset, I just want my basic service so I can conduct my business in a proper manner. Can you send me a link to the orange service contract please. Regards M Butler

  • K8n neo2 platnum memory soundcard problems.

I just recently bought this board and im having problems with it. here is what I have installed.
windows XP home edition (all updates installed)
    AMD 64 bit 3500+
    (4) 512 meg sticks pc 3200 underclocked to ddr 333 (mushkin blue)
liteon dvd rom drive (set to master)
liteon dvd burner (set to slave)
    (2) 36 gig raptors in raid 0
    ATI X800 pro
soundblaster live Xgamer (installed on orange PCI slot)
problem im having is when I play everquest or everquest 2 my computer crashes. I run checkit diagnostics that came with norton systemworks 2005 and it says my memory has erros. Ive already sent ram back to newegg bought new ram same problem. at first the motherboard wouldnt install the soundcard I moved it to a diffrent pci slot and it installed. However same problem checkit diagnostics still says I got bad memory and Im pretty sure well im sure that just cant be the case or I have to have the worst luck in the world to get bad ram 2X's in a row.
I did call mushkin today they told me there is problems with this board and soundblaster cards ive been looking for answers on the web and and found none so ive come here in search of some.  Is my soundcard uncompatable with this motherboard? or do I need to set somthing up in the bios to make it compatable (im sure I have latest bios as I bought the board like 2 weeks ago so im sure thats not the problem eather)
    any suggestions?
    thanks.
(note for some reason with only 2 sticks of ram installed everything seems to work fine I told mushkin this they told me it has somthign to do with my soundcard that I need to contact MSI)

I have a Sound Blaster Live! 4.1 (CT-4760), and I do get random crashes. Sometimes I'm stable for days, sometimes it happens more frequently.
Usually happens while playing Enemy Territory. The computer would freeze for about 20 seconds and would resume normally after that. No errors, no reboots, no logs. During those 20 seconds everything would lock, and I would get the sound loop.
But I could blame many things other than my sound card:
    * Enemy Territory has proven to give problems before, like with video drivers, etc.
    * I could blame my PSU only having 16A on the 12V rail (will upgrade soon).
    * Or I could blame my ram not being the best out there.

  • Nokia c3 wifi problem with asda pay as you go sim

    Any advice greatly appreciated.
Bought a brand new nokia c3 on vodafone pay as you go today because I knew that  I would be able to use my Asda pay as you go sim with no problems.
Put my Asda sim straight in and everything seems to be in order except when  I try to browse the internet through my home wifi it keeps saying I need to subscribe to packet data first. No browser opens up at all.
I use the same sim with my n95 and browse through wifi with no problems.
    Am I missing something obvious?

Is your original contract SIM also an Orange SIM? If not, it could be that your premicell is SIM-locked to the original network. If this is the case you'll need to contact the operator with which you have the current contract and ask them for the network unlock code.
I'm not entirely convinced of the 3G vs. 2G argument because I have hade several really old phones (Philips fizz and Xenium 9@9, Alcatel BE4 to name but 3) that dodn't even do GPRS, only CSD, but which did accept my Orange USIM no problem.

Perhaps if you could describe exactly the steps you take and exactly the results you receive, there could be some help. Note that it is always a challenge to get a BB to work on a different carrier than it started it's life on. If Orange directly supports your model BB, then it should be able to work...if they don't, then there will be further challenges ahead. But let's start with what you attempt and what happens.

  • Calling all Orange N70 users ... help testing auto...

Anyone reading some of my posts will know that I currently have a problem with the Orange auto time update ... namely it doesn't work on my Nokia N70.
Now I have "spoken" with another Orange N70 user via these forums and he has successfully tested it and can confirm it works for him - and we are both on the same network and running the same firmware. Yet I have confirmed with Orange Technical that they do not support auto time update on the Nokia N70. I've tested this both @ home and @ work and auto time update doesn't appear to work in both locations.
    There are three options :
    1) I'm lying
    2) The other forum user is lying
    3) Orange support for auto time update depends on which cell you are located in.
Now I know 1 and 2 aren't plausible .. but I'd appreciate your help testing whether number 3 is.
I will not provide instructions on how to do this, as I don't want to be responsible for a sudden influx of calls to Orange relating to problems setting your time (!), but if you are a confident and competent phone user and know how to test/set the auto time update functionality on your phone I'd appreciate it if you could test whether it works for you and whereabouts in the UK you are located. I'm located in West London.
    Many Thanks

Just out of interest, what access points do you have set up on your phone?
    I have 4:
    Orange GPRS WAP
    Orange Internet
    Orange MMS
    Orange Music
I don't know whether the auto time update function would rely on any of the access points that are set up on your phone.

taoryu, Welcome to the discussion area!
First of all how do you post a new topic on Apple Discussions.
    It' very simple:
You go to the Apple.com > Support > Discussions > Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard > Mail and Address Book discussion area.
Click on the link titled "Post New Topic".
I have some friends who have prying eyes. I have some valuable information come through apple mail. They are not on the computer that often, so I'd rather NOT make a separate user account, but for the few times they are, I don't want Apple Mail so easy to access. Is there a way of securing the information like a password. EVERY email application I've seen has this option, Apple Mail must have something similar. Any ideas???
You already know the answer. Create a separate OS X user account and force them to log into that.

  • Mobile Phone Wifi

I have an LG GT505 phone and whilst not the best phone it did get me out of a sticky situation.
Here in the West Country there are many 'dead spots' that don't get a signal from any of the phone networks. However this phone has wifi and it will quickly find any local networks, usually that of the restaurant or pub we're in. On one occasion none of my friends with a variiety of smart phones could get a signal from their networks. However my LG had logged onto the unsecured pub network and allowed my to use the orange network without problem. It is the constant logging on to BTfon and Openzone networks that made me choose BT total broadband.
We've only been connected for a couple of days and the phone had picked up the hub quite naturally. Unfortunatlely although not required at this location, when I start a call on the phone it would be alright for a few seconds, then the hub would disconnect and cut off the call!
I had not deliberatlely connected but had to deliberately disconnect to continue my calls. This had never been a problem before with my previous ISP. It just logged any networks within range.
I have left the IP/DNS settings to dynamic and entered the wireless key that comes with the hub but now I cannot get it to connect. Does anyone have any experience of using their own mobile provider (Orange, G3, T mobile, Virgin etc.) via the BTfon network.
One final question. If using my netbook on the move, is iit just the BT Total Broadband user name and password that I need to carry about with me or will it have remembered those from when last online from the Homehub?
Thanks to anyone willing to try answering this lot.
    Fezworth

Is the hub dropping the wifi or disconnecting from broadband?
Also wifi can be effected by local enviroment i.e other signals, internal walls, if you wander to far from the hub it will drop.
Sounds like you may have to reset the hub and try again to connect handset.
You will need to remember your log in details or have them with you when you are out and about as the BT Fon/Openzone login page will not remember them.
