Orange E61i no longer on Orange

My company issued E61i was an Orange phone - we have now moved to T-Mobile.
Orange issued phone derestriction codes, and phone works on T-Mobile SIM.
I have a couple of issues ...
I do NOT have T-Mobile voicemail, and also did NOT have Orange voicemail enabled.
Currently I have an icon on the phone 'desktop' showing there is a VM message.
If I press and hold '1' it dials Orange VM ... but I cannot access this as I no longer have an Orange Service, and never had VM set up anyway.
I have spoken to T-Mobile, they say contact Orange as phone is diallling Orange cellular mail box. I did they confirm VM is not active and can offer no further help.
How do I get rid of that icon ?
How can I change the 'cellular VM box' it dials by default.
can I also get rid of other Orange customisation .. i.e on 'desk top' it has menus for Orange World, Orange internet etc.
Is there a way to wipe these ?

Look for the "Call mailbox" icon in your menu. Not sure where it will be on the E61i so look around.
Go into that tool and from there you can change the number dialled when you want to access your mailbox.
As for debranding the phone, the procedure is:
1) Get the phone unlocked (already done if you can use a T-Mobile SIM in the phone).
2) Ask Orange for written permission to remove the Orange-branded software and install generic Nokia software instead.
3) Once you have the written permission from Orange, go with it and the unlocked phone to a Nokia Care Point and ask them to debrand the phone. They will change the phone's product code, install generic firmware and print out a new product label for your battery compartment.
Step 3) is easy. There may be a small charge for the service but it's a quick operation. They'll probably be able to do it while you wait.
Step 2) is similar to "Mission: Impossible". It will cost you a lot of money in phone calls before you're actually put through to someone who knows what you're talking about, and the whole thing will be made even more difficult by the fact that the contract with Orange no longer exists.
Good luck!

    Hello Korawees,
I was researching the issue you are describing and had a recommendation. The device is very simple, so the software troubleshooting for it is pretty limitted so I think you shoud restore the iPod shuffle and re sync the content. That way, if it is a software issue, this will fix it. Here is the article named Restoring iPod shuffle to factory settings found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1481.
    Before Starting
It is important to understand the difference between "update" and "restore." Update does not affect your settings or songs, it simply installs updated software that controls iPod shuffle. Restore erases the disk and restores iPod shuffle to its original factory condition with updated software. If you only need to update iPod shuffle, this should be done on the computer where music is normally synced. Updating on another computer will result in all songs being removed from iPod shuffle.
Warning: Because Restore erases all songs and files on iPod shuffle, make sure to back up any files you've saved on iPod shuffle. Your songs, podcasts, and audiobooks can be synced back to your iPod shuffle if the items are part of your iTunes library.
    How to restore iPod shuffle
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection as new versions of iTunes and iPod Software may need to be downloaded to your computer.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if you do not already have it installed.
Open iTunes, and then connect iPod shuffle to your computer.
After a few moments, iPod shuffle will appear in the Devices section on the left side of the Tunes window.
Select iPod shuffle under Devices and you will see information about it appear in the main iTunes window under the Summary tab/button for iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation) or the Settings tab/button for iPod shuffle (1st or 2nd generation).
The Version section tells you whether iPod shuffle is up to date or needs a newer version of the software.
Click the Restore button. You will be presented with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download the latest iPod Software. The 4-possible restore options are:
Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.
Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.
Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software currently on your computer.
Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores after downloading the latest iPod Software on your computer.
If you are using a Mac, a message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress indicator will appear on the computer screen indicating that the restore process has started. Do not disconnect iPod shuffle during the restore process.
After the restore process is complete, the iPod shuffle's status light will flash orange continuously. The iPod Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences as you did when you connected your iPod shuffle for the first time.
When you come to step 7, I recommend Restore Option 4.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Constantly blinking orange light; no longer recognized by computer

I just purchased my shuffle yesterday, connected it to my MAC, charged it (the light turned green), downloaded podcasts from I Tunes and everything seemed fine. I had to leave for a couple of hours and left the Shuffle in the docking station. I came back and the light has been blinking orange ever since (over 24 hours) and the Shuffle is no longer on my computer or recognized as a Device in I Tunes. I tried all the 5 "r's". Any other suggestions - other than taking it back to the store. I would think the product would have a longer life than 36 hours.

I had the blinking orange light happen to my shuffle today when I connected to my XP machine which holds my iTunes.
I tried uninstalling the device, changing the drive letter, changing the USB port it was connected to, the apple reset tool (garbage...). Nothing could get it to connect, I kept getting the message that the iPod was corrupted.
Eventually I took it to my Apple, plugged it in, got it recognized no problem, synced and erased to that iTunes library then did the factory restore.
Took it back to the PC, and was able to re-sync and rebuild the library on the shuffle from there.
So the answer seems to be find a friend with an Apple or take it to your local Apple Store and have them restore the iPod from a Mac.
It's a ghetto fix but I couldn't find any other way to get it to function on my PC

  • Voicemail Symbol on Orange N70 no longer appears

I used to get a symbol on the screen and a notification message when new voicemail arrived, but this no longer happens. The voicemails are still recorded and I can still listen to them. Any ideas what to do? I have deleted all SMS and voicemails.

Sound like your voice mail setting have become corrupted at Orange's end.
Get them to deactivate, then reactivate your voicemail, and resend the voicemail SIM update.
If it still fails, get them to move your mailbox to another server.

  • E61i no longer connects successfully

    Hi,
I'm having a very frustrating problem with my E61i, which has worked perfectly with Bluetooth File Exchange, Nokia Multimedia transfer etc., but now fails to connect. It seems something is corrupted on the phone such that this no longer works. Rebooting the phone / Mac achieves nothing. Here are the details:
    - From a clean start (after rebooting both systems), Bluetooth File Exchange successfully connects to the phone, but any attempt to transfer a file leads to a "connection failed or closed" error. It doesn't matter whether the file is on phone memory or the memory card.
    - thereafter, Bluetooth File Exchange is not even able to connect to the phone ... I get this same error message. On the phone screen I see parentheses appear for about a quarter second around the bluetooth symbol (indicating a connection), but then vanish. It is trying, but immediately fails.
    - via USB cable, Nokia Multimedia Transfer has a similar problem. After starting the "connect and transfer" from NMT, I then connect the USB cable from phone to Mac; the Data vs. PC Suite choice is offered to me by the phone; I choose PC Suite, briefly see the PC Suite connection symbol, which immediately vanishes. NMT works for a bit (i.e. NMT icon on the menu bar shows activity for a few seconds) then nothing further happens -- no iPhoto or iTunes launch as would normally be expected. Trying to connect via bluetooth gives the same behavior: a brief flash of the parentheses around the bluetooth symbol on the phone indicating a connection, which immediately vanishes, and NMT acts as if nothing happened (no connection).
    - iSync via bluetooth works just fine at transferring contacts and appointments back and forth between phone and mac.
    - USB data transfer to access files the memory card (E also works just fine. My understanding is that this is just a direct USB access to the memory card, effectively disconnecting the phone from the memory card.
It looks like the functionality on the phone that supports file transfer to outside applications like PC Suite, Bluetooth File Exchange and Nokia Multimedia Transfer has corrupted some of its data files, so that it fails whenever it tries to start. I've searched quite a bit on the web, and lots of people have similar problems with Nokia file transfer, but no solutions that seem relevant.
The problem is that the system is so damn opaque! If only I could see a log file like on linux I could presumably track down the meaning of the error messages and resolve the cause of the problem. But I haven't found any info that would indicate even where to start -- I can't even find out whether there are useful log files, let alone where to look for them.
This problem started after transferring a 7 MB file from phone to Mac via Bluetooth File Exchange: during the transfer a GSM call came in (from a telemarketing idiot!); while I took the call, the transfer continued fine but a bit slower, and completed with no apparent problem. The transferred file seems fine. However, afterwards I'm having all these problems that I never had before.

    Help!
    -- Chris Lee

I think I have solved my problem after a frustrating week. I traveled last week and changed time zones. I then changed the time zones on both my MacBook and E61i. However, once that was done, everytime I tried to synchronize my phone and iCal and Address Book, I kept getting a SYSTEM ERROR message, and the two would not sync.
When I returned to home, and reset the times, I still got the System Error message, and no synchronization. Emailing the help desk here, they just told me to download the plug in! Not very "helpful" as I'd already done that!
This morning then, I deleted all the calendar entries from my phone, and tried to sync again. Finally successes!
Seems there's some kind of glitch if you change the time zone settings. Just delete all the entries on the phone, and then re-sync.

  • If I change my Orange Sim UK to an Orange Sim CH (Switzerland).....

..... when I am in Switzerland, will my Blackberry email still be pushed to my phone if I have set up Data Services with the Swiss Sim?  Will there be any conflicts.
I basically go between UK and Switzerland several times a month and am on a Pay as You Go.  I want to use a Swiss Sim when in Switzerland and a UK Sim when in UK, both on Orange.  Will the PIN and IMEI number change if I change the SIM?
Thanks to whomever knows and can reply.

  • 6680 Orange update didn't kill Orange App

    Hi,
I just got the e-mail from NOKIA club telling me it's now possible to flash your phone at home. So happy to read that !!!
I was finally able to get rid of Orange app with those **bleep**py icons and ....
Anyway, I followed the procedure and it worked fine. HOWEVER, I was so desappointed to see my phone startup as when I first got from Orange store. Meaning standard NOKIA apps for 6680 are not present and worse than that, the Orange theme is there as well. All this even before I restored my previously saved data into my memory card.
This is very annoying. What's wrong here ?
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

When you use NSU, you will get the latest version of your network variant which supplied the handset.

  • Can i use my 02 iphone sim in an orange mobile on holiday?

not sure i fancy taking my new iphone to the beach on holiday, does the sim card work in other phones? i just want to be able to call and text.
OR... will i bust something trying? cheers

You can use your o2 sim in a orange phone as long as the orange phone is open to other network sims. It's easy to check, if you put the sim in and it says no service then the handset is locked. The internet settings on the phone will still for orange so all you'll be able to do is call and text unless you input the internet settings for o2 unto the phone.
Orange do tend to lock all there handsets.

  • Hi, Does anyone know why my screen apple logo briery flashing orange on boot up?

Just noticed that when ever I boot my MacBook Pro (15 inch retina), the apple logo briefly changes to an orange color and then returns to normal when login box appears. Has anyone seen this before? Does this indicate a problem?, although everything is working fine. Thanks for any info you may have.

taimsesasta, Not positive, but I was using a picture that had orange in it as my login icon, and when I changed it to a pic that was basically gray, the Apple logo no longer flashed orange. Somehow, it seems, that the Apple logo was momentarily picking up the orange color from my login art and then returning to its normal gray. That's all I know at this point.

  • Orange flag not appearing

When I flag a photo, the little orange flag not longer shows in the upper right corner of the thumbnails. I know it is getting flagged, though because under the "Metadata" menu the status is changing. I'm running version 3.5.1.
It was working the last time I used aperture, as far as I know.

OK, another search of the discussions gave me the answer: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2736821

  • ITunes could not copy "Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (from "A Clockwork Orange")" to iPhone "Heywood Floyd's iPhone" because the file could not be read or written

Hello, i am having the following problem...
"iTunes could not copy "Beethoven's Symphony No 9 (from "A Clockwork Orange")" to iPhone "Heywood Floyd's iPhone" because the file could not be read or written" [ ... and yes, Heywood Floyd is an avatar name..]
    With this...
    a. it occurs when I try to synch my iphone with iTunes.
    b. I have tested the "Beethoven's Symphony No 9" files that I have found on my iTunes, and my iPhone, as there is a copy of "Beethoven_ Symphony No. 9, _Choral_" folder that is the concert from Bernard Haitink & London Symphony Orchestra;
    c. This is where is get weird, a sort of Jack Torrance moment, they only file related to "A clock work orange" is 06 A Clockwork Orange - Ode to Joy.m4p...
So what is happening, and how can I resolve this, as I am not able to synch between my mac and my iPhone....

Check the media source drive for errors.
See also Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows. Not sure it is relevant but can't hurt.
If iTunes is confused about what media is and is not on the device take these steps:
    Backup the device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore from the earlier backup.

  • IPhone Signal Issues on Orange UK/Wi-Fi Dropping Out

I have noticed an issue with my iPhone 4 that seems to be unique to Orange/T-Mobile UK customers.
I'm sure you are all aware that Orange and T-Mobile customers in the UK can now share their respective networks which is all fine and dandy until there is an issue with one of their networks. Since November last year the Orange mast where I live has been down so I was told by Orange to manually log my iPhone onto the T-Mobile network as their mast was fine. However my iPhone still tries to pick up the Orange signal which is very weak so I get a lot of calls and connections dropping out.
Orange told me that my iPhone must be faulty so sent me off to my local Apple Store who told me that there was nothing wrong with my iPhone and that how it acted as even if I manually select a network it will carry on picking up any signal it can. Now as much as I love Apple that sounds like a load of bull to me, what's the point of having such an option on my phone if it doesn't actually do anything?!
Can anyone out there help or advise? Software Version is 5.1 (9B176) and Carrier is Orange UK 12.0
Also I have an issue where my iPhone keeps dropping the Wi-Fi connection. It's not a case where the network has been lost as it is still in the network list and I can immediately reselect it. The only way I can stop this from happening is by switching off the 3G and Mobile Data. Again the Apple Store say this is an issue with my Wi-Fi router (I am with Virgin Media and have a N Router) and say I should invest in an AirPort. The fact that i also have an iPad 2 and a PC which do not have these issues seem to have been lost on them. Again any help or advice you Guys can give would be appreciated

    hi banjo72.
as for the first part, there is nothing you can do,until orange sort out there mast, near your location.i know its a pain in the rear,i have low signal where i am and my orange logo, keeps jumping from orange and t-mobile like a yo-yo.once i am near a good signal it stays on orange.
    wi-fi connection issue.
you can try two things, first one is to go into settings-general-scroll down-reset-re-set network settings.
second thing to try is press the wi-fi reset button on your router.
