Orange light cont to blink when charging?

I bought my shuffle today and have installed the software and Itunes...everything that I was supposed to do....
However, I dont know if I am charging it correctly? According to the instructions both on the insert and on the website: when charging, the orange light is supposed to be continuous, not blinking. Well mine is Blinking! It has been hooked up ( with Itunes up and without) for quite a few hours, over 4.
If anyone can give me an idea as to what I am doing wrong I would be so very happy!
Cheers
Holly

ORANGE, whether solid or blinking, indicates that your Shuffle is charging... BLINKING ORANGE, means that it is a) being accessed/updated by iTunes, or b) it's enabled for data and is thus regarded as a storage device by WindowsXP, or c) WindowsXP sees it as a storage device.
IF ejecting it in iTunes doesn't make it stop blinking, then quit iTunes and "Safely remove" it in the System tray.
4 hours to fully charge is actually a lowball estimate, sometimes it takes 6 or more hours, especially if you interrupt the charging cycle by removing and inserting the Shuffle from/in its dock.
Here's hoping yor Shuffle will be green, already. Further caution, DO NOT allow your computer to go to sleep or hibernate with the Shuffle attached ... this will prolong the charging time and may even discharge the Shuffle.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
A green light means that your battery is full or that it can't be detected. If you can't start up the Mac, probably your logic board or battery aren't working.
Take the MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller to get your battery or logic board replaced. If the MacBook is in warranty, this repair will be free

  • Wifi light doesn't blink when in use?

    Hi all, 64bit Win7 X220...
As best as I can tell the little green wifi light just remains solid green -- isn't it supposed to blink when there is wifi network activity? (as my previous X60 did)
I found the blinking useful -- is there something I need to do to turn that back on?

I stand corrected!  That post is about how to turn the blinking off, which most people find really annoying.  But you can use the same info to turn it on if you want.
We had a lot of complaints about the blinking, which is why the default behavior changed sometime around T400.

  • Orange light flashing after shutdown with charger connected.

    Hi there,
    I am new here and have following problem;
Four Months after buying the PC (Satellite Z930-103) I had a bettery problem. Suddenly the orange led was flashing and the notebook couldn't be started anymore. Toshiba service replaced the battery and everything worked well for about two months. Then the same thing happened again. Because I was working in China I opened the notebook and disconnected the battery and could use it with the charger connected.
The PC was sent to a service point when I came home, where they again stated a battery problem and proposed to change the battery. Because the guarantee was expired I had to pay for it. I refused, because the price they were asking was 300 Euro.
Than the big surprise..when I received it back from the service point, they reconnected the battery and the service report stated "no defects found, computer is working well"........
Since than, I started my fight with Toshiba support and tried to find a solution myself. The problem however was not solved until today and still I have to disconnect the battery and reconnect it after waiting a day whenever I forget to disconnect the charger when shutting down or when it goes in sleepmode) I became a real expert in opening and closing the notebook....
Anyway, maybe someone has the same problem and found a solution, I guess it can only be a software problem but Toshiba hasn't solved it until today.
    To describe the problem again:
The orange (power) led starts flashing whenever the computer is turned down (or into sleep mode) with the charger connected.
If it happens I open the laptop and disconnect the battery ( so I can work with power cable pugged in)
Then the next day I open the laptop again and reconnect the battery. It works fine until I again forget to unpug the charger when turning off or restart the laptop.
I'm guessing this is a software problem and by some simple settings or a re-installing of something it can be solved.
Because I'm travelling a lot I love the little thing but I get frustrated at the moment.
It would be great when I am right and someone already had this thing solved!
    Thx upfront for any help!
    Peter

Satellite Z930 is very nice machine designed for mobile usage and I’m really sorry to hear that you have such problems. I presume you didn’t find some identical thread on this forum so I hope it is not some “general problem” with this machine.
I’m not a technician but I cannot imagine that described problem has something to do with software settings. In BIOS you cannot change much and in Windows there are standard Windows power settings and several advanced Toshiba settings.
Power supply electronic placed in the mainboard has some “standard” functions and switch automatically between battery and AC power supply.
I cannot say for sure but I presume there must be the problem with power supply electronic. It is not easy to say what is wrong there and I’m really wondering that Toshiba service provider was not able to identify the reason why all this happen.
Let’s see what the other forum members think about described issue.

  • Blinking orange light

I plugged my ipod in to charge it as i have done before. It does not seem to be charging it has been plugged in for three days and the orange light just keeps blinking. I am clueless on ipods and what to do. All I know is that you are not meant to disconnect it when the light is blinking....what should I do?

The status light will blink orange as long as your iPod is mounted as a volume on your computer.
Open iTunes and 'eject' the iPod from there. The status light will then stop blinking and turn to either steady orange or steady green.
If you don't use your iPod for data storage, you can set up iTunes to eject it automatically by deselecting the option "Enable disk use" in the iPod settings. However, this will only work when iTunes is running, so make sure that the option "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected" is selected.

  • Only a blinking orange light!!

We can't get our ipod shuffle (2nd gen.) to do anything. We have a nano that works great, have itunes already installed for that. When we plug in the dock for the shuffle, the computer makes a noise to show it's there but nothing happens, the orange light just keeps blinking on the shuffle. We didn't even get the Setup Assistant. We tried reinstalling itunes, we've registered the shuffle, we've tried a different USB port...still the blinking orange light and nothing else. ANY ideas???????

We found an answer. Our Dell - has several drives
and a card reader that assume the first few letters
of the alphabet. In addition we are part of a larger
network that also assigns drive letters for network
shares that are toward the front of the alphabet.
Apparently the I-pod is limited to those same few
    initial letters.
A tech friend of ours some how manually reassigned
the 4 drives associated with the card reader to drive
letters at the end of the alphabet.

  • Orange light

Whenever I plug my ipod shuffle into the computer, the orange light is always blinking. It will blink for five minutes, then it may allow me to upload songs. Once I click autofill, sometimes it loads my music, other times it freezes on me. When the ipod has updated, the orange light remains, even when the battery is fully charged? Isn't the green light supposed to appear? Anyone have any suggestions on what to do, but since I can sometimes load music it's not that bad, but the very first time I used the suffle it worked perfectly. I hadn't touched the program since and now it doesn't work like it should. Wondering if anyone can help with this topic. It would be greatly appreciated!!

I've used my ipod shuffle for six months. I now have the blinking orange light when connecting the device to my XP usb port. Moreover, XP doesn't detect the ipod shuffle.
Here's the tasks thus far to resolve the continuous flashing orange light:
    1. Updated software to latest release (no help)
    2. uninstalled ipod software
    3. rebooted
    4. installed original itunes software from CD and rebooted
    5. opened application-itunes inserted shuffle to USB port(no help)
    6. reboot machine
    7. problem continues
    8. From itunes: edit>preference>ipod>"no ipod detected"
    9. orange blinking light continues
    8. read alot about the problem
    9. no resolution.

  • Steady /constant orange light

I have a 1Gb shuffle. Today, I charged it, when I unplugged it, the orange light stayed lit, and when I turn it off the orange light stays on for a moment or two, and then turns off.
When I turn it back on again the orange light comes on again, and stays on.
The shuffle will not play any music, and is not recognised by OSX or Windows.
    What do I do?
I cant use the iPod reset tool, as its not recognised.

I have the same problem. After charging, light stays orange, even when it it switched to the off position. Light eventually turns off after several minutes. Not recognized when plugged into various USB ports on various machines. I think it may be brick-ed.

  • My MacBook Pro has booting Problems, Light keeps on Blinking. What to do?

My MACBOOK PRO (Early 2011) is having booting problems. It doesnt want to be shut off. If I do shut it off it would take an hour for it to boot. The light keeps on blinking when i push the on button. After a few times of pushing the button and the blinking light the light keeps steady and the MACBOOK PRO seems to be turning on . A Whirring noise/ sound can be heard. I then turn it off and push the ON Button again and the MACBOOK PRO finally boots. The problem repeats again when i turn the unit off.
I already had it checked by APPLE but they said they cannot find anything wrong with it!! Any help will be highly appreciated.

Shut the machine down by holding the power button until the computer is off.
    Release the power button.
Reset the parameter RAM by powering up the machine then holding the key combination:
    <COMMAND> + <OPTION> + p + r   until you hear the restart chime three times
Then perform a SMC Reset by following this procedure from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Lastly,
If you are running 10.5.4 as shown in your details... Boot to the System install disk
and select the language then select the menu item "Utilities > Disk Utilities"
repair permissions and repair the disk using the repair tool

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I'm having the same problem.  I'm using a new shuffle usb cable in my 2nd generation shuffle and nothing shows up on computer.  I'm wondering if the dock for the second gen is different than the new usb cable direct into the 2nd gen shuffle. I don't have a dock for it.  Before I buy one on ebay I hope someone can assist.
