Orange Screen in Motion or FCP

Why do i get orange screens or objects in Motion or FCP
Couldn't find anything in the manual under the word "orange"
does anyone know how to solve this ???

Also i already am updated to 3.0.1 and having orange screens.
Earlier i thought i had the orange screens because footage was too long in frames or too big in pixels
but today in this one shot as soon as i turn on the Key Primatte i get the orange screen.
What's weird is that Primatte worked all morning on other shots and ive already done primatte keys on this exact same footage before. In a pretty tight spots as to how i will get this shot done if motion refuses to cooperate ?

Plugging camera in G5 via firewire showing up in Motion or FCP

I have a camera that I would like to plug into Motion or Final Cut Pro via the Firewire plug in my G5. Is it possible to have this live feed show up in Motion or FCP? I would also like to know if I could put a Green background in back of a subject as it's being fed into Motion or FCp to use a Green Screen?

Motion won't capture for you - FCP will. Neither is a live keyer... Although the talented Peter Wiggins has a plugin that will bring live iSight into the timeline, so I suppose you could use that to key with - I haven't tried it yet... See this thread:

Combing Keynote, Motion and FCP. Best Strategy?

Ok Im trying to do a project where Im using Keynote content, Motion content and FCP content.
My final screen delivery will be on a flat screen plasma monitor with a native resolution of 852 x 480.
I am going to be playing this back as a looping Quicktime movie from a Mac to the plasma screen. The screen will be functioning essentially as a computer monitor.
The piece will only be about 3-4 minutes max run time.
The video I've shot is standard DV resolution: 720 x 480.
I am building the whole project at 852 x 480 so I dont have to scale up the video to fit the final screen size vertically.
I was intending to piece it all together in Motion.
(Exporting Quicktime renderings from Keynote and Final Cut at high resolution and placing them on the timeline in Motion...)
Now, with Motion and FCP's ability to transfer files back and forth, am I using the best strategy? Should the whole thing be assembled in FCP? Or is Motion just as good for assembly.
(I want to use Motion because I find it's interface way easier to push around than FCP and much less cryptic...)
Is there any slicker way to bring in Keynote material than to do the exporting to Quicktime thing?
Any advise I could get from all you motion gurus out there would be greatly appreciated.

Well after actually starting in on the real construction of this project it has become very obvious it must be assembled in FCP.
Now that I have resolved myself to that fact, I have a few issues:
I've exported all my Keynote stuff in Animation Codec.
Is that better than H.264? (Seemed to be slightly sharper on type edges)
I tried setting up the sequence to have H.264 compression but it refused to accept any imports.
I changed it back to NTSC DV Codec and it accepted to imports no prob.
Must all FCP projects use DV codec?
You cant tell them to use a different compression system?
(This is one of those areas of FC that I find utterly mysterious.)
When I bring the Keynote clips into my FCP document, they look crunchy.
And they stumble on playback.
Is that just temporary in the editing environment.
The video plays back pretty clean...
Can I get all the files to play back cleanly in FC as Im working on them?
Will the compression used in my sequence be ignored upon export to the Final Quicktime?
And what's the deal with the frame rates on the Keynote files.
Even though I specified 29.97 on export, when I get info on the files theyre all over the place (20fps, 24fps...)
Is that a problem?

Orange Screen when switching

Hello, I recently bought a 15" mac book pro and partitioned the hard drive and installed 64 bit windows 7 on it, recently when switching from OSX to windows 7 using boot camp a orange screen with a white line will display and the computer is locked up. When turned off and turned back on windows 7 usually starts normally. I hadn't seen a similar topic on a similar problem and was wondering if I should be concerned.

I know exactly what you mean regarding Orange, ever since they were taken over by France Telecom they have been going downhill.
I ported away all of my Orange contract and PAYG numbers a few months back to o2 and Tesco myself.
I find the Orange branding on my old unlocked 6230 that I gave my mother serves as a reminder that they will never get a penny from me again. The branding does not affect any functionality as far as I can tell on Tesco.
I did have bluetooth issues with mine, so I had it updated at a Nokia service centre to 5.50 which cured most of the problems. If your handset is out of warranty they can charge anything up to around £20 for the firmware to be updated and depending on how you had it unlocked it could come back relocked to Orange, you could also have a word to see if anything can be done about the Orange branding if it still irritates you while you are there.

I just searched the FCPX manual in pdf and there is no mention of side by side or picture in picture. So I created it in iMovie and brought into FCPX and got the inspector info. Guess what, it is now called Crop and Transform. And it works very well. You could have any size video in the frame anywhere you wanted it to be. With key frames you could fly them around, I think.
Hope this helps. I was counting on being able to do this with synced music video takes.

Black Screen in Motion

Motion works fine till I hide it...When I re-open I get a Total Black Screen...have to find area on screen where motion windows absent, click and Motion appears but when I click on any Motion window Black Screen again!

Thanks for info but could not find "plist" for Motion...Also when I try to install Motion302Update.pk....it says that I don't have application installed, Even though I have re-installed...

Media Encoder Orange screen when encoding mts files

I'm trying to convert 1080p files from my Canon Vixia HFM41 to Youtube 720p using the Media encoder, and it typically works for about 20 seconds and then hangs up and I get an orange screen. At that time I can see it dumping RAM and the CPU usage goes down to zero. If I let it continue, sometimes it'll finish, but the video has long sections of orange screen.
I'm using latest versions of Premiere and ME with a Windows 7 machine. i7 2.2 ghz core, 8gigs of RAM, Nvidia cuda core GPU, SSD. Basically, the machine shouldn't be the problem.
BTW, I encode GoPro vids all the time with no issues. It's only these .mts files that are causing this.

It does NOT play back in Premiere in its native format, which is why I started looking into converting it in ME prior to editing in Premiere. It drops frames even on 1/2 resolution in the preview window. I tried to force a timeline render and it hung up and gave me orange frames....even though the yellow line indicated it didn't need to render to play back ok.
I'm sure it's not hardware related, because when I had Premiere 5.5 on a significantly slower computer I routinely edited the same footage without converting.
I suppose I should start a new thread in the Premiere section to figure that out as well, but it still annoys me that ME isn't converting properly.
Any ideas?

Motion to FCP round trip color shift

I've been searching all over the web and have found many posts in various forums about the gamma shift that occurs when Motion projects are imported into FCP and then exported out as an MOV (ProRes or H.264), but have yet to find a suitable solution. All of Apple's documentation seems to indicate that using Motion with FCP should be as easy as importing a Motion project to the timeline. Does anyone know how to prevent the gamma shift that ultimately makes Motion elements in the exported MOV appear washed out?
I know that I can enable FCS color matching in QuickTime to adjust the appearance of the MOV, but I'm sending this file to clients that don't use Final Cut and won't have this option; especially those on PC.

Same problem. No grade or LUT. Mac Pro Quad, BM Intensity Pro, JVC DT-V20L1UA.
My test involved NTSC color bars. I exported 10 sec bars out of FCP to a QT, reimported them and cut them back into my sequence. At that point, the imported bars were identical to the fcp bars I'd started with.
After I'd SENT sequence to Color, the bars changed, mostly in lighter in contrast & brightness plus a little hue shift.
After the scene was rendered in Color and round-tripped to FCP, the new "look" came back to fcp

IMac Boots Directly to Solid Orange Screen

My iMac has been freezing quite a bit lately to the point that only a hard restart helps. I'd been noticing it one evening while trying to play World of Warcraft, so I decided to quit playing the game and try to figure out what's wrong. Verified the disc in disc utility and found it didn't need repair, and then decided to try a virus scan. Since the scan was taking a while, I left my iMac on overnight.
When I woke up this morning, the screen wouldn't completely come back to "awake". I tried to get it to come back with no success, and eventually hard-restarted the computer again. The imac now boots into a solid orange screen. (From startup chime -> screen with apple and loading wheel -> solid orange). I can't find anything about that in the FAQ. Does anyone know what might be wrong?

What are you using as your antivirus software (which btw is a total waste as there are ZERO virus's for Macs.) If the AV software is a Norton product immediately uninstall it using Norton's unistaller. Norton seems to create more issues than it solves.

My iPhone 4S untold amounts of problems it has a constant orange screen

My iPhone 4S has been driving me mad for quite some time it keeps turning on and off by its self. The screen goes black with white writing at the top and now I have an orange screen what could be the issue I have spoken to apple and they said that I have to buy a new phone but this one was a refurb and don't fancy the same thing happening again

Motion to FCP Workflow

I realize this is a quesion for both Motion and FCP, but I need a second opinion, just to be sure:
(1) If I want to use the satin template transition between scenes, how do I do this with a large project in FCP5? Do I do the project in FCP5 and then import all the scenes into Motion, or do I export just the satin transition and put it in place in the FCP5? It's a sophisticated transition that isn't just a simple cut. I'm confused.
(2) In FCP5, my project is 24P Anamorphic, in motion there isn't a 24P Anamorphic setting for the project. How do I set this up for a seemless import/export. IF that's in fact what I'm going to end up doing.

Oh boy, I was up late last night trying to figure this out. I had a little luck, but really no big breakthroughs. I would put the Satin Sheet video on Track 4 (top), the wipe on 3 (with a matte blending setting of alpha-or the other one), the leaving video was on 2, and the coming video was on 1. Still no luck. I was only able to get partial matte through the wipe. The white part was only allowing partial transparency. And the black or transparent part of the wipe was completely blocking out the rest.
I was able to do the whole thing in Motion, but there was no anamorphic setting and the leaving and coming clips where only the length of the transition. I know that that is changable, but it seems to be counter-productive.
I am really confused and exhausted.

Transparency of white gradients: Nesting Motion in FCP

Hi there. If I nest a motion project into FCP that has white gradient transparency and super it onto video, it introduces black into the tranparency. When importing the PSD file that was animated in Motion directly into FCP as a super, the white transparency gradient works perfect. But that defeats the joy of animating elements in Motion for FCP.
I have tried changing the Motion Project background to white transparent (vs default black), but that makes no difference.
Anyone out there knows the solution?

Timac 2009 orange screen on boot

Hello all
Just purchased a 2009 imac for my son, was working fine then went througo some of the updates and the screen went black. Rebooted for is to come up with a orange screen then back to black.

I had the same problem just now. My 15" MBP (6.2). I followed the following steps and it worked for me. I used another Mac in my house to use screen sharing to accomplish these things:
1) access the /private/var/vm/ directory on the nonworking computer from the working computer. This is invisble so you will have to press cmdshiftg in the finder and go to /volumes/YOURHARDDISKNAME/private/var/vm to get there or use an application that lets you view invisble folders like PathFinder.
2) delete the sleepimage file
3) delete the /system/library/extensions.mkext file
4) eject the drive (drag to the trash)
5) press the power button to turn off the non working computer
6) turn the nonworking computer back on normally(cross your fingers) then if it works,
7) open up the the terminal.app in /applications/utilities
8) type sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
9) make sure there is no sleepimage file again
That worked for me...hope it helps for you!

Has anyone seen an "orange" screen?

Has anyone ever had an orange screen? the whole screen goes orangish red - then I ppower down and restart - it is fine. This is the first time this has happened - though I have had grey screen before.

Could be the graphics card causing the orangish red.
Run the Apple Hardware Test to rule out any hardware issues.
If the AHT doesn't report any problems, if you are running v10.4, 10.5, or 10.6: Try here > Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startupI
If you have Lion v10.7 installed, follow the instructions at that link for resetting the PRAM. If that doesn't help, try a Safe Boot.
