Orange UK - FilmToGo

I was recently delighted to find out about the Orange FilmToGo initiative. How great to be able to rent a film for 30days for the cost of 35p and to be offered a different film each week.
So I duly ordered 3 films between 11th August and 8th September.    There I was with my films planning when to watch them.
But, to my dismay and before my eyes, they were removed from my account long before they had expired.  They had all been removed by 25th September.
Why?

I originally searched here but got no results withthe error code. upon posted this query I got a suggested topis in the More Like This panel to the right. which leads here:

"Error 3001,"  "-42110," or "5103"
This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues.
Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both  can be downloaded free of charge.
If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.
My software is up-to-date, so I followed the insructions here:

Hopefully that will help some others.

  • Orange FilmToGo Download Stuck Error -42110

    Hi Folks
    I have tried the UK's Orange FilmToGo service recently which resulted in the film downloading almost entirely until very close to the end of the file, where it stopped & gave me an error. The error is as follows:
    We could not complete your iTunes store request. An unknown error occurred (-42110)
    The download is now stuck in my Downloads queue & is triggered everytime I start iTunes, so I get the error everytime. Highly annoying!
    It doesn't stop any other downloads, but I can not delete this from my queue.
    Any ideas how I get rid of this?

    I would complete unlocking as is and then
    restore as new once you know the iPhone is unlocked
    Be aware Orange will process the request at their speed
    one of the reasons they usually reside at bottom of User Sat surveys
    will likely take weeks

  • Connecting HDD to Airport Extreme causes orange death light...

    I am in a small office network with mix of pc and mac (7 pc's, 1 iMac, 1 wireless iMac, and 3 wireless macbook pro's). Internet connection comes into building directly to airport. Airport then feeds a couple of systems directly and a Dlink 24port ethernet switch which connects all other hardwired network connections.
    I just purchased a Seagate Freeagent Desk 1.5TB external USB2 drive to be used as a network storage drive (not with time machine just grabbing and dumping files for interoffice sharing). Removed preloaded software and formatted fat32. Disk will be mounted and recognized when connected to any mac directly. When connected to the usb port on the airport extreme it begins to initialize and then bombs. Airport gives the orange death light and there is no connectivity to the router for all (ie internet connection, etc.) When you unglug the HDD the router reboots and then goes back to green light of peacefulness. What am I missing? Setting? Order of connection? Not hitting it hard enough on the ground with a large 10lb sledge hammer? Help me out...

    you may need to restart the AEBSn with the drive plugged in.
    since it might have been long since the AEBSn was restarted and anything else attached to it.
    or a restore to factory settings...
    i know not the best you want to hear, it should just work.
    make sure all the AEBSn updates are there...etcetc
    i was having this problem the past month or so and it started working again flawlessly after a few restarts.

    Right-click the Menu bar ''(File, Edit, etc)'' and click on the Menu bar item in that Context menu, so the check-mark is gone.

    I really don't have an answer for that one. I guess that while trying to get things working correctly, I would use the most basic monitor I had which in your case would be the Eizon using the Thunderbolt port and adaptor.
    When you boot into Safe Mode the startup is quite slow, but you should get the Apple logo and then the spinning gear below it (release the SHIFT key when it appears.) Then after a little more time you should see a gray progress bar appear below the spinning gear. When that disappears the computer will startup to a login screen.

  • Magsafe light flashes orange/green

    I've just bought a used MBP 2.2 MHZ which operates fine except for switching back and forth between charging modes when the battery is around 85% full. The magsafe light stays orange a few seconds, then shows green for a second, then back to orange; the charging indicator on the screen switches at the same time. I swapped to a known working magsafe charger - same result. Operating on battery power is also a bit strange, with the available percentage of battery jerking around. Looking around, I see some 2007 and 2008 threads about this issue, but no final resolution at that time. Is there now a "bottom line" to this problem? Thanks!

    No, it's not a battery calibration issue - but it could be a bad battery. The flashing MagSafe is a hardware issue. Since the SMC is the controller for power systems, resetting it is about all you can do for 'software' type of fix. If that doesn't correct it, the problem is either with the adapter itself (which you apparently ruled out), with the battery, or with an internal component (more likely the left I/O board, but possibly also the logic board itself).
    The fact that your available percentage jumps around points to a deeper problem (time remaining can jump around depending on system load, but % charge should go in only one direction when running on battery).
    Given your symptoms, I'd be inclined to try a replacement battery first, before looking inside the case for a problem.
    If there's an Apple Store near you, make a Genius Bar appointment and let them have a look - they will be able to test the battery as well.
    If you like, post your Full Charge Capacity and Cycle Count (from Apple menu > About this Mac . More Info > Power) for a preliminary diagnosis...

    Why is it when I bought my first generation iPad in October 2010 the sales rep at the Orange County California South Coast Plaza store suggested that I buy Mobile Me service for $99 which he assured me was a one time charge and now, of course, Mobile Me has been discontinued and I've been "forced" to move to the Cloud and I'm being provided with another year of what Apple calls complimentary service with the clear indication that in a year I'm going to be asked to pay again for something I paid a one time charge for two years ago?

    Mobile Me was the successor to .Mac (dot mac) which was "free" to all users but for a limited time. It included a free email address @mac.com and an amount of what we would now call "cloud" storage that went by the name of iDisk. iDisk worked great but with only dialup service for me it was barely useful.
    So I didn't think much of dot-mac but lots of people thought it was worth paying for, so they did. Apple wanted to make it even more useful and integrate it with their portable devices which we all know as iPads and iPhones, and assembled a team to make it all work. This was to be called Mobile Me.
    They failed miserably. Lots of people including me looked at the final product and said "huh?" Unfortunately for the Mobile Me engineers, one of those people was Steve Jobs. He first humiliated them quite publicly, then disbanded the team, including firing at least one senior manager who shall remain nameless.
    This was the rocky beginning of what is now called iCloud, which is the "free" service I should have explained. iCloud includes an email address @me.com, and the 5 GB of "storage" which aggregates things like iWork documents, your email, calendars, Photostream, and iPhone backups.
    You can buy more storage if you need more than 5 GB, but if you have more than that it's still free through September 2013.
    What happens if you have more than 5 GB stored on iCloud and on September 2013 you don't pay? I'm not sure, but you have a year to think about it.

    Hello, I have a Nokia 6101 and I've twice experienced an incredibly annoying problem with it (to use mild words). I did a good search on the forum but I didn't find anything. First of all, I must say that the phone was originally bought in Italy (from Telecom Italia Mobile) and then moved to England, where I'm using it with Orange UK. I just exchanged the SIMs and it worked fine at once, so I assumed everything was OK. The problem I mentioned is as follows: the phone appears to work normally and reports good strength for the signal BUT if people actually try to call me the phone doesn't ring at all and (so I've been told) is seen as switched off. Furthermore -- even worse -- apparently they are also unable to text me (the text is somehow rejected, I don't know the exact error message other people get). Also, if I try to call or text someone while the phone is in this zombie state it doesn't work (sorry I didn't write down the exact error message I got). In fact trying to use the phone is he only way of knowing that something is wrong. I've been using this phone for about a month and this thing has happened (as far as I know!) twice, once just a few days after I first got the phone, and the second time yesterday (which caused an untold amount of distress as I was waiting for an important call). Switching the phone off and then on again solved the problem in both cases, so I assume is some sort of firmware problem, possibly a minor incompatibility between my phone/firmware and Orange Uk. Has anybody come across a problem like this? What should I do? Any suggestion would be very welcome, because otherwise I'll have to do sample calls every 15 minutes just to check that the phone is working properly!         Hi papaluciano!
    You're working in Luxembourg, but your SIM card is not allowing your phone to work! This must be irritating for you. Because you got your SIM card from Orange, please discuss the issue with them for a resolution. When buying a SIM card internationally, you are using the service of the other carrier. In addition, this is not something that would need an update. Please let me know how this works out for you. Thanks!

  • I am trying to unlock my iphone from Orange to "3".

    I have requested the neccessary details from Orange. And paid for it.
    I have followed the instructions but the phone will NOT activate either by phone itself or iTunes.
    I have tried it with an Orange card in and also a 3 card.
    Its pathetic that something is made so difficult to do.
    I need help with this as it is driving me mad.
    I have also looked all over the internet and this is a very common probem

    Did you follow the steps exactly in the email you got from Orange
    to unlock the iPhone? At the end of those steps, did iTunes give you
    the message 'Congratulations. Your iPhone is now unlocked''?
    If you did not get that message, your iPhone is still locked and only
    Orange can resolve the matter.
    If you did get that message before the update, repeat all the steps again
    to see if it will unlock now - you may have to do this multiple times for
    it to work.
    What does it say when you look at Settings=?General=>About=>Carrier?

  • I got a canon EOS rebel T3 camera yesterday and it flashed orange and I can't take anymore pictures!

    So, yesterday I got a Canon EOS Rebel T3 and it was working perfectly fine and I was just getting the hang of it! But then all of a sudden i don't know/remember pressing anything and it flashed orange when I went to take a picture and it did it again and it wasn't the battery because the batterie was halfway and I don't know what to do...     Hold on don't send it anywhere until you:
    Remove the battery for 30 minutes or so. Make sure it is fully charged and reinsert it.
    Use a known good SD card.  <----very important
    Make sure you go into the menu and set everything back to factory defaults. (Check your manual)
    Make sure the dial on the top is set to the green square.
    Now try it again!

    Hi, I have recently purchased an iPad 2 and only just found out after trying to use a Giffgaff sim card that it is locked to the Orange network in the UK. I don't want to be paying any extra over and above what I have already paid so my question is, is there any way to get the iPad carrier unlocked via apple or orange.  I am waiting a call back from apple today and have read on the web that orange will charge me to unlock it.

    Some iPads which were subsidized by the carriers are locked to the carrier, and in that case only the carrier can authorize an unlock. You'll need to talk to Orange, and pay their fee if necessary. They may well only unlock for the original purchaser, in which case you'll need to contact the person from whom you purchased the iPad. Apple can do nothing directly in the matter, since they can only issue the unlock when the carrier provides authorization.
