Orange Unlocked iPhone 1.1.3 - No Problems.
Just upgraded my legally unlocked Orange unit.
No problems, device took the update rebooted.
iTunes told me it needed the new version to activate my phone.
Downloaded the new iTunes, installed it, removed the iPhone from the cradle and reinserted it, got iTunes page saying "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked".
Device seems to be working fine, haven't checked for bugs or glitches yet.
Tried the auto-locate in Maps. Decided I was in Brussels. Which was 506km away.

Can you give me any procedure STEP BE STEP ? I am from the Czech Republic, I have unlocked French iPhone and Vodafone SIM Czech card and I don't know, what can I make this . If I will insert to iPhone me Czech SIM, that Iphone wil not working with this, because in iPhone is old FW 1.1.2. What can I make ? Connect to iTunes 7,6 and make update to 1.1.3 first ? And after make unlocking ? Or iTunes unlocked this automatically - after update to 1.1.3 or before update ? And me SIM must be inserted in iPhone ?....Can you write me please exact process of this and what van I make - step be step please. Thanks in advance. Jirka

Warranty and Unlocking... AFAIK... are not related.
It is more likely your Contract with Orange that is getting in the way... in the sense that Orange are not Unlocking the phone.
You can try to contact Apple about this... but Orange control the unlocking.

Buying Factory Unlocked iphone - problems?
I live in the UK and the area I'm in doesn't have a great O2 signal but Orange is fine, I was thinking of buying a factory unlocked iphone 3GS so it'll be totally legal and not jailbroken but will be from like Australia or something, I was wondering before I buy it if someone could tell me if i'm likely to encounter any problems using it on Orange rather than O2 (ie anything that wouldn't work on the phone) also as it won't be from the UK will that make a difference, would anything be different on it? I also read that I'd have to manually setup the SMS settings etc, is this right?

The iPhone handles MMS differently than other phones do. Here in the US, we don't have MMS on the iPhone yet while other ATT phones have MMS. ATT has had to make changes to their network to accommodate MMS on the iPhone and is still in the process of doing so. -

Warranty and support are ONLY valid in the country of origin. The only exception is the EU where the entire EU is treated as one country.
If the device will be used in India, buy it in India.
An unlocked iPhone will work on any supported GSM carrier world wide. The LTE portion of a US purchased, unlocked iPhone is unlikely to work outside North America as it does not support the appropriate bands used in other countries. -

Was it purchased from an official Apple Store, not a reseller? Only Apple Stores sell official factory unlocked phones. The others sell hacked to unlock phones, and the unlocking is unstable.
Try these steps, as needed:
1. Reset phone - press both home and on/off buttons for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
3. Replace SIM card (and reset network settings again)
4. Restore Phone in iTunes using a backup
5. Restore in iTunes as new, without using a backup -

basically with it being powered off hold the home button while plugging it in and keep holding the home button until it shows the iTunes logo with a chord and it will then let you restore the device in iTunes -

Apple do not lock iPhones
Carriers do because they have subsidised the purchase price
and therefore only the carrier can unlock an iPhone
Orange have decided to apply 6 months to protect their revenue

I got a new unlocked iphone 4, and use the straight talk unlimited data plain. But my iphone shows my carrier is AT&T, and I coulden't activate cellular data network. I don't know how to get access to 3G internet.
My iPhone 4s suddenly experienced some Internet problem starting from yesterday too. I got my iPhone 4s when it first came out. No issue at all until this happens. My Internet on"4G" (well it's actually 3G but labeled as 4G) is super slow. I can still call and text but I can't receive any messages from iMessage(which uses Internet), apps store just stay loading forever, and a webpage takes like mins to load. But everything work fine once I connected to wifi. I don't know what going on and I would know is it just me or others are experiencing the same thing?

I got my unlocked iphone 4s from Apple store. It works in most of the countries I travel to, but in some it keeps showing a 'Searching' signal! I had to buy a turbo sim for it to work! Is the problem from my 4s or the sim? an why this is happening?
To my best knowledge turbo sim does not hack a phone. I have not used it to unlock the phone, i have already bought it unlocked. Am pretty sure its not an issue with my iphone, I have been using it normally all around the countires I have been to, till i faced the mentioned problem in one country and they fixed it by using a turbo sim. Now that I have left the country, am back to using my 4s without the turbo sim and it's working perfectly fine.

I live in Mauritius Island. My brother wants to send me an unlocked iphone 5s from CANADA as a gift, but i am unsure if i wil be able to use it here. Can you help? We use Orange here.Not sure that they are selling unlocked phones in Canada. Mostly, the Canadian phones are carrier locked and the Canadian carrier do not offer unlocking, with Bell being the main one.
It might work, but this would only be on 3G because you have to remember the frequency differences and phones built in Canada were designed to work in Canada with the Canadian carriers/networks.
Also be aware that warranty for the iPhone is not international, so if anything goes wrong with the phone and you need help, you'll have to physically go back to Canada or post the phone back to your brother in Canada, but not directly to Apple.
