ORAOLEDB:Ora-2005 error with ADO command object

Hello,
I am using adodb.command object
to make few insert queries in database.
Provider is oledbora.oracle.
Something like,
vb sample code:
dim varr(52)
varr(1) = ----
varr(2) = -----
adodb.commandtext = xxxxxx
call adodb.execute(,varr)
I am receiving ora-2005 error.
(implicit (-1) length not allowed)
###**** Interesting fact is, same piece
of code is working with msdaora provider.

Sameer, please direct OLEDB-related issues to the forum for OLEDB.

    Hi,
Typically when you get "Message xxxx not found: ..." error messages when trying to start the listener, it means that your ORACLE_HOME is not properly set.
The walkthrough is to set the ORACLE_HOME at envionment level just before using the command, and maybe also as a system environment parameter.C:\>ECHO %ORACLE_HOME%

The following command is being used:
    expdp system/xxxxxx@ORACLE_SID full=y directory=DUMP_DIR dumpfile=DUMPFILE.PMPlogfile=expdpDUMPFILE.log

  • ORA-22813 error when deleting spatial objects in LIVE

    Hi,
We are getting an ORA-22813 error when attempting to delete a spatial object from a version-enabled table in workspace LIVE. The spatial object to be removed has a SDO type of multipolygon. The geometry information consists of 4 rings with a combined ordinate count of 4120. The statement used to delete the row is:
    delete from tableA where tableA.id in (select tableA.id from tableA where tableA.id = 3);
The error occurs only on a 10g R1 Oracle instance (10.1.0.5.0) with Workspace Manager version 10.1.0.7.1. The delete operation succeeds without problems on a 10g R2 (10.2.0.2.0) instance with Workspace Manager version 10.2.0.3.1. The statement is also executed successfully on the 10g R1 instance if the table is not version-enabled.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I would recommend filing a TAR in this one. The only ora-22813 error involving workspace manager and geometry columns that I know about involves queries that need to sort data for which the size of the geometry column was >30k. Does the execution plan for the delete statement involve any kind of sort? However, this is an old 9.2 bug, that I believe was fixed for all 10.1 and newer releases.
Does the same error happen if you do not use the subquery?
    Regards,
    Ben

Dan Hoover An ORA-12560 WinNT is usually an indication that
the OS system/environment is not set up correctly.
You don't need a listener when you connect locallay without alias
    name (sqlplus scott/tiger@alias).
    Please try the following:
    - start cmd box
    - set ORACLE_HOME = <your home>
    - set ORACLE_SID = <your SID>
    - sqlplus scott/tiger

  • ORA-12154 & ORA-12514 errors with Net8

Can anyone help me with getting Net8 to run?
On 8.0.5 I was able to get my Windows front-ends to run using the "0-Configuration" option for Net8 - using Host Names.
I have been roundly unsuccessful in trying to get this to work with 8i, and now I am deeply embroiled in TNSNAMES configuration with total lack of success and ever increasing frustration.
Has anyone successfully overcome this type of error with 8i to successfully access the database from a Windows client?

    John,
Apologies for the cyber-silence. I only get to work on this stuff evenings and weekends, and this weekend was work instead :-(
As this whole area of network and database configuration is one of ritual and superstition for me, rather than clinical science I decided to go back in time and re-install 8.0.5 - which works fine for the Host Naming approach. I grabbed the listener.ora and tnsnames.ora (yes, I know it doesn't apply - but, as I said, I'm superstitious) and brought them back to the present (changing a couple of things where necessary - e.g. 8.0.5 => 8.1.5).
Unfortunately that didn't work either. Then I recreated my 8i database and made the global db name and instance name exactly the same as the hostname. This time it worked! Not a very general solution (and I have no idea which part of the solution cracked it or me) but I am sticking with it for now!
Just for the record here are the new (old?) configuration files:

  • ORA-06502 error with external table having long records

I'm getting a strange error with the oci driver that I don't get with the thin driver.
The basic situation is that we using external tables and both the oci and thin drivers have been working until we tested with a table that had longer records than the previous tables. The new table has 1800 byte records.
The thin driver still works fine with the new table. However, the oci driver generates the following error with the new table:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
I suspect that with oci driver the oci DLLs are reading the external file and the DLLs can't handle the longer record length.
    Particulars
    - Oracle DB Server is 10.2.0.1 on SunOS 5.9
    - OCI Instant Client instantclient_10_2 on Windows XP
    - OCI client code from DB server installation running on DB server
    - Works with thin driver from Windows XP and on DB server machine for all record lengths
    - Works with both OCI drivers for records < 1800 bytes (don't know actual limit)
    - Fails with both OCI drivers for records = 1800 bytes.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts.
    Thanks in advance.

Your access parameters are in the wrong order. External tables are a bit fussy like that. Refer to the access_parameters section in the Utilities manual and follow the order there. From memory it will go something like this:
    RECORDS DELIMITED...
    LOG/BAD/DISCARDFILE...
    FIELDS TERMINATED...LDRTRIM
    MISSING FIELD VALUES...
       fields...

  • ORA-4068  errors signaled for valid objects

    hai friends,
    kindly refer this link
Problem we faced is "ora-4068 error:- existing state of package is invalidated" in the client application.initiallly we have migrated from oracle 9i to 10g 10.2.0.4.0
we discussed and got solution as timestamp of objects may differ.( we are waiting for rights to access the table sys.obj$) pls refer the link
    Re: oracle error -4068
But now we are advised from senior as below
    1) ora-4068 error will come only when we recompile the view. is it true?
    2) 6136074 bug is fixed in 10.2.0.4.0. is it?
    Gurus give your valid suggestions

A: ora-4068 error:- existing state of package is invalidated

Packages tend to fail because of their "package state". A package has a "state" when it contains package level variables/constants etc. and the package is called. Upon first calling the package, the "state" is created in memory to hold the values of those variables etc. If an object that the package depends upon e.g. a table is altered in some way e.g. dropped and recreated, then because of the database dependencies, the package takes on an INVALID status. When you next make a call to the package, Oracle looks at the status and sees that it is invalid, then determines that the package has a "state". Because something has altered that the package depended upon, the state is taken as being out of date and is discarded, thus causing the "Package state has been discarded" error message.
If a package does not have package level variables etc. i.e. the "state" then, taking the same example above, the package takes on an INVALID status, but when you next make a call to the package, Oracle sees it as Invalid, but knows that there is no "state" attached to it, and so is able to recompile the package automatically and then carry on execution without causing any error messages. The only exception here is if the thing that the package was dependant on has changes in such a way that the package cannot compile, in which case you'll get an Invalid package type of error.
And if you want to know how to prevent discarded package states....
Move all constants and variables into a stand-alone package spec and reference those from your initial package. Thus when the status of your original package is invlidated for whatever reason, it has no package state and can be recompiled automatically, however the package containing the vars/const will not become invalidated as it has no dependencies, so the state that is in memory for that package will remain and can continue to be used.
As for having package level cursors, you'll need to make these local to the procedures/functions using them as... [Show more]

  • Loadjava ORA-29521 errors with log4j

    Hi,
I've got ORA-29521 errors while loading a Java JAR library. The Java application is using log4j for logging messages.
    The loadjava output is :
    creating : resource log4j-1.2.8.jar
    loading : resource log4j-1.2.8.jar
    errors : class com/blabla/transferservice/TransferService
ORA-29521: impossible de trouver le nom référencé org/apache/log4j/Logger
ORA-29521: impossible de trouver le nom référencé org/apache/log4j/xml/DOMConfigurator
I also tried to include in the JAR the following libraries without resolving the problem :
    mail-1.2.jar, activation-1.0.1.jar, xercesImpl-2.4.0.jar and xerces-2.4.0.jar.
Someone could tell me what's going wrong ?
    Thanks.

    UV,
I believe the problem is due to the fact that you are using the "-resolve" option in your "loadjava" command.
Oracle will eventually "resolve" all loaded classes -- so you don't have to ask it to resolve your classes while they are being loaded. Hence you should be able to issue your "loadjava" command without the "-resolve" option.
Alternatively, (if you need/want to retain the "-resolve" option) you can also supply the "-genmissing" option -- which is designed to overcome the "resolve" problems you are experiencing.
For your information, "loadjava" is documented in the "Oracle 9i Java Developer's Guide" which is available from:
    http://tahiti.oracle.com
    Good Luck,
    Avi.
