Personally I would not use RedHat 9 any more. For 2 reasons:
    1) it is obsolete (and the free WhiteBoxLinux, TaoLinux and CentOS are suitable replacements that are great clones of the supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
    2) there are several versions found in the wild that contain different glibc and gcc, which makes the install of ORacle inconsistent.
In any case, everyone who wants to install Oracle on Linux should review the information at http://www.puschitz.com

  • How to port Personal Profile Application to PalmOS emulator

    Hi Everyone,
I have implemented an application by using Personal Profile API in Linux RedHat9.0. But I don't know how to port the application to a PalmOS emulator.
    Would anyone advice me?
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Paul

Yes, means you cannot currently. There is no Java Virtual Machine and matching Java Class Libraries supporting the Personal Profile which runs on a PalmOS device. Currently there are MIDP 1.0 implementations for Palm OS implemented in 68k. IBM is currently working with PalmOne and together we are developing a native ARM based MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.1 solution for the PalmOS 5+ Tungsten devices.

  • Labview 7 for Linux on Redhat9,NI example Finder not working.

I have Labview7 for Linux on Redhat9, installed at /usr/local/lv71. "NI example Finder" is not working, the function of browser, search, submit, none is working. When I try to close it, the window looks dead, cannot close it. I will force to close it. What is the problem? Where are the examples?
Another question: the simple help text is working, but the details help is not working. I can open the help file by Mozilla. But I want the help could be linked, like what it is in Windows platform.
    Thanks

    Hello
If whenever you type labview at the prompt, LabVIEW 7.1 is launched, it probably means that the paths are setup to launch 7.1 but it doesnt necessarily mean that you do not have LabVIEW 7.0 installed.
If you only installed LabVIEW 7.1 in that computer, it is possible that somebody else had installed LabVIEW 7.0 before.
What I suggest doing is to run the UNINSTALL scripts for both, LabVIEW 7.0 and 7.1, and reinstall LabVIEW 7.1 as root, not as user.
    Hope that helps!

Installing Oracle 9iR2 on Red Hat 9
    by Roko Roic
    09/04/2003
There are an ever-growing number of reasons to run the Oracle database server on a Linux-based OS. The price factor is obvious, as OS licenses can really boost the total price of your multiple workstation or clustered (RAC) server installation. Then there's the stability factor, the possibility of total remote administration, the availability of platform source code, speed, flexible filesystem, the strong Unix legacy .... Heck, even Oracle itself runs its business on what they like to call Unbreakable Linux.

  • Do i need the POST-INSTALLATION configuration for linux+oracle?

    hello
i install the oracle10g on redhat9 box,JUST finish the installation,i open the Terminal windows, type ¨sqlplus¨ command, linux tell me ¨commnd not found¨. i guest the installer don´t set the env variable(in windows operating system, the installer automatically set the path variable during the install procedure).
i can SUCCESSFULLY access the browser console of em and isqlplus.
but after i restart the redhat, the browser can´t access both
em and isqlplus(connection reset).when i telnet the 5500 and 5560 port,i found that they haven´t be open.and i suspect that the oracle database haven´t been automatically started.
question 1:how can i MANUALLY start oracle after i restart the linux?
question 2:how can i config the oracle after the install to make it work perminently?or post-install configuration.
    thank you very much!

Oracle will not start automatically. You have to enter as oracle user and start the listener manually and then the database .
Command are like : lsnrctl start
Then , type svrmgrl ( the server manager console ) , connect internal , and then startup .
Later on you can write scripts for automatic startup of the database and listener .

  • Problem when install oracle9iv2-02 on redhat9

    Hi,
There is an error when I installed oracle 9iV2-02 on redhat9. And the error was at the beginning of the installation.
login the system as the dba:osdba.
    ./runInstaller
Then there show me an error message:
line 58, ./runInstaller cannot execute binary file
And I checked the file in ".../Disk1/linux/install/runInstaller", the owner is dba:osdba and the mod is 755. There is another file named runInstaller?
    How to resolve the problem?
    Thanks a lot

I downloaded the ship_9202_ia64_lnx_Disk1.cpio.gz, Disk2, and Disk3, and install them on the Redhat9.
    Are these right?
And I check the files named "installer", the mod is 755.
    Why failure?

  • Installing Oracle9iAS Release 1 on RedHat9.0

    Hi All,
Is there any step-by-step documentation for installing Oracle9iAS Release 1 on RedHat9.0 Linux machine.

I keep on seeing stuff like this and someone please explain it to me. Why are you using Red Hat 9.0?
    1. It is not supported by Oracle to use that OS.
    2. If you have a problem and need to open a tar, you will not get support.
    3. You will likely run into problems that are unique to the OS.
    4. If/when you actually use a supported OS, you may see different behaviour (like bugs) that you didn't see in Red Hat 9.0.

    Hello,
RedHat9 is not supported for any Oracle database release. Nevertheless you can try the following:
    (in bash:) export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1
    (in tcsh:) setenv LD_ASSUME_KERNEL 2.4.1

I am a new to J2ME.My OS is redhat9.0,and building tools is gcc3.4.3.After having downloaded the cdcfoundation-1_0_1-fcs for linux, I unzip it to /home/cdcfoundation/.Under the directory of /build/linux/,I typed the following command:

You need ksh (korn shell) in order to compile. It is because this shell provides an option (if I remember well -h) which is not present in other shells like bash.
So, download it from http://www.kornshell.com and make it available in a folder present in your PATH.

  • SATA and Linux

I was wondering if anyone could help me with getting SATA support up and running in Linux. I dual boot XP and Linux RH9 and have bought a Maxtor Raptor SATA drive I already have an old and clapped out Seagate. I eventually would like to get a second Raptor and set up a striped RAID array but for now I would just like to be able to get Linux to recognize the drive and to either shift my drive image over to the new drive or reinstall onto the Maxtor.
XP sees the drive if I use the old drive to boot up but if I try to do a fresh install onto the SATA drive with the old IDE disconnected it will not recognise a drive at all. Linux will not detect the SATA drive at all no matter what I do.
I understand I need to have some drivers at install time on floppy disk to do a fresh install?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I can't be any immediate help, I have a similar problem trying to dual boot WinXP and Redhat9
I have WinXP installed on a Intel RAID array and Redhat9 on a separate IDE drive, at the moment Linux can not see Windows
From information I've gathered so far Grub is the boot loader to use, there is a patch released by Intel for earlier versions of Redhat and Grub, not sure if it's of any use yet
