Hello,
Why can't you simply download and put it on DVDs of your choice of Oracle version

  • Calling Stored procedure in Oracle 11g from Oracle forms developer 6i

We have Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7.0 ) database (64 bit) installed on Windows Server 2008.
In this database, we have stored procedure ABC(arg1) which is accesing a table in another instance through DB LINK. If we EXECUTE this procedure from SQL/TOAD. It runs successfully and generates the desired output.
If we write the contents of the stored procedure in the PROGRAM UNIT / ANY TRIGGER in FORM 6i then also, It runs successfully and generates the desired output.
It is also mentioned, that if we try to use any table in the same instance (and not through DBLINK) then it works fine.
However, if we try to call this stored procedure (which is  accesing a table in another instance through DB LINK) from  ORACLE FORMS  6i  in WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger then the FORM BUILDER gets hanged while compiling the form developed in FORMS 6i.
Please provide a solution to this problem.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE.

    Software development team.

Forms 6i was never meant to run against a 11g database, this was not tested and is also not supported.Well, that is not completely true. Developer 6i is supported against a 11g database, but only for Oracle Apps R11. That means that for most other customers (not Apps) Forms 6i will work against an 11g database. However, only Apps R11 is supported, and patches are only created specifically for Apps. We are also running Forms 6i against an 11g database without (well, minor) problems.
In this case, you need to find a solution. You can try to put the stored procedure in a package. The package body, with the reference to the remote table, will be hidden from Forms this way.

    Hi all,
Please anyone can guide me, from where I can order/buy Oracle EBS 12.1.3 (both fresh and Vision) kit.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Rajiv

Oracle E-Business Suite 12.1.3 is available as a release update pack (RUP) which need to be applied on top of 12.1.x instance.

  • Installing Oracle Database 11g from Oracle download page

Where is the option of selecting the required edition of the Database? It wasn't obvious (to me) and although I wanted the Standard edition, even by de-selecting the Enterprise modules, I seem to have installed the Enterprise edition.
    Thanks,
    Alison

You choose the edition (Enterprise, STandard, STandard 1, Personal) from the one install.
So download THE database, and choose the correct edition during the install

  • Ordered processing required from Oracle 11g on Linux to BizTalk Server

Need a viable solution enabling ordered processing (OP) of messages from Oracle 11g on Linux allowing for ordered delivery to subscribers in BizTalk over MSMQ.
We are currently running BizTalk 2010 (with Adapter Pack 2010) and are using ordered delivery for inbound messages to Oracle (received from msmq) but not for outbound messages since the Wcf-adapters doesn't support Ordered Processing in a receive port/location
(except for msmq). However, we do need to implement ordered processing for outbound messages also. It's a major drawback that the Wcf-adapters does not support ordered processing not even with restricted or limited functionality.
Our current implementation is polling Oracle using the Wcf-adapter calling PLSQL-package functions that handles all logic and returns a pre-built XML in a CLOB/string to BizTalk.
Since Oracle is hosted on Linux we can't switch the PLSQL-logic to use Oracle COM-automation and post XML directly into MSMQ which otherwise would have been a quick solution. Also no WebSphere MQ (MQSeries) exists on the premises ruling out that adapter.
    Preferences:
    - Stable and reliable message transfer with ordered processing from Oracle to BizTalk
    - Messaging only pattern (generic) preferred over custom Orchestations (such as re-sequencing pattern)
    - Products preferred over custom development (within reasonable price limits).
    - Follow Microsoft best practices if possible
In-house development of a custom BizTalk adapter or a nt-service bridging from Oracle to MSMQ could be considered as an option.

Thanks for the reply but it's not that easy I'm afraid, if it had then this post would never have been written.
We're retrieving one message at the time and with pollWhileDataFound=true so that's all good.
The problem is that the inner workings of the wcf-adapters are multithreaded and can not guarantee ordered delivery (which also has proven itself).
The answer why can be found in this post
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/paolos/archive/2009/11/17/customizing-and-extending-the-biztalk-wcf-adapters.aspx
Here's the crucial part: "The WCF Adapters create a separate ServiceHost and singleton service object of this class for each receive location to handle client requests for the lifetime of the BizTalk Host instance running WCF receive locations. The service
object uses multiple threads to process messages concurrently unless the WCF-NetMsmq receive locations are used with the Ordered processing property being selected"
(this is also why I'm wondering why Microsoft doesn't provide the option to run ordered delivery with other wcf-bindings than NetMsmq...)
The search for ordered processing out of Oracle continues...
    regards
    /Henrik

  • Upgradtion from oracle 8.1.5 to oracle 8.1.7 on win2k server

    hi,
In order to upgrade my database from oracle 8.1.5 to 8.1.7 on same win2k server I performed the following steps but not sure what exactly happened, whether I have upgraded or not:
    1. Installed 8.1.5 in e:\oracle\ora815 and test database on same drive, both working fine means I am able to connect to the instance.
    2. Installed 8.1.7 on same server but different ORACLE HOME.
    3. Ran upgradation script called u0801050.sql from e:\oracle\ora817\RDBMS\Admin. I connected thru connect internal.
    4. After running the script, I de-installed Oracle 8.1.5.
    5. Then when I ran svrmgrl, instead of oracle 8.1.7, it is still showing 8.1.5, moreover when I connect to sql it does get connected but shows some messages , which I am not sure what they are.
    6. In sqlplus, to see which version of oracle is running, I ran select * from v$version;
but there also it is showing, oracle 8.1.5 only.
What I fail to understand is that even after droping 8.1.5, how am I getting 8.1.5 instead of 8.1.7.
below is what I got when I connected to sqlplus:

Upgrading your system to an 8.1.7 patch set from a version earlier than 8.1.6 (for example 8.0.6 or 8.1.5) is not supported. In this case you must either migrate/upgrade to 8.1.7.0 first and then install the patch set, or upgrade/migrate to 8.1.6 and then follow these intructions.

  • Default in "order by" in select query may be different in 11g from 10g

Hi, I am wondering if when you are querying a table in 11g and you use the order by clause and there is more than one occurrences with the same values in the order by, if the 11g default is different than from 10g.  For instance.
    DECLARE MHBulk CURSOR FOR
      select invoice_nbr,
                   customer_nbr,
                    post_century,
                    post_yymmdd,
         from CUSTOMERS
         where customer_nbr = 1234
         order by
               post_century,
               post_yymmdd;
If you have more than one occurrence of the same customer_nbr, post_century, and post_yymmdd it looks like the default order for how 11g retrieves the records is a bit different than the 10g default.   Does anyone know why this is?

    JustinCave wrote:
In any version of Oracle, if your ORDER BY does not specify a completely unique order, the order in which ties are broken is arbitrary.  Realistically, it will depend on things like the specific query plan chosen, the physical order of data on disk, which parallel query slave read the row, etc.  So it is subject to change within the same version of the database when, for example, a query plan changes.  It is entirely plausible that the results would be returned in the same order for years and then suddenly change one day.  If you care about the order of ties, you should add additional logic to the ORDER BY clause that specifies the order you want rather than assuming that there is a "default" order applied.
Upgrading to a new version of Oracle, particularly if that was done via something like exporting and importing the data so that you're changing the Oracle version and the physical order of data and various object statistics, it is not at all unusual that you would get slightly different plans and that ties would be broken differently.  I wouldn't assume that there is a new "default" order, though.  It's entirely possible for the order to change if the query plan changes again.

Well, what happened is we've gotten a few new customers and those customers are on Linux oracle 11g.  All the other customers are on regular unix 10g.  So, it sounds like we've just been lucky with the order until now.  In our system we have a sequence number column which is unique and I solved this by adding that in the ORDER BY clause.  I was just curious as to whether oracle had a default when it found duplicate fields in the ORDER BY clause.  I can't imagine that oracle doesn't have a default like unique_session_id or something like that.

  • Manually Migrating from Oracle 10g to 11g

Hello, I'm currently a student in an Oracle DBA class. I'm totally new to the Oracle world.
One of our final assignments concerns upgrading Oracle instances without the use of DBUA.
I've currently got Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 and am trying to upgrade to 11.1.0.7.0
This is all inside of VirtualBox, running Windows Server 2008. I've been using 10g with absolutely no issues for the duration of this class.
I successfully installed 11g, choosing to install the software only and not use dbua.
I changed my environment variables to point towards the 10g installation; ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID, PATH, and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Then logged into 10g's SQLPlus and ran utlu111i.sql, which ran successfully. I issued a shutdown immediate and exited SQLPlus.
Changed my environment variables to point towards the 11g home and set ORACLE_SID as the 10g database name. I was able to log into 11g's SQL plus, was told I was connected to an idle instance, which I expected. I issued a startup upgrade command, and then attempted to run catupgrd.sql, but got an error stating that I had to run the script from 11g.
If I don't set the environment variables then when I try to log into 11g's sqlplus, I get an ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error... I've tried reinstalling 11g from scratch, but to no avail. My instructor and I have been emailing back and forth frequently over the past few days but we have not been able to reach a solution, so I thought I would see if I could pick your brains.
Here's all of the terminal output from the process:

Your instance is started from the 10g ORACLE_HOME. You mentioned you started it from the 11g ORACLE_HOME but it's not the case.
    Here is an example with a 10gR2 database started from a 11gR2 ORACLE_HOME :

In your case it was Disconnected from Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0
To solve the issue follow the official documentation, you have specific actions with oradim etc. to do (it's always a bit more complicated than with Unix/Linux but it's documented) :

    Hi,
You have to have the report server
    a. Installed and configured
    b. Running.
    See
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_strt001.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_verify004.htm
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_conf003.htm#i1007341
If you are using rwservlet then you will find the name from the Configuration file referred to in the last link.

  • Steps to generate AWR report from Oracle 11g OEM

I have gone through online documentation for generating an AWR report from Oracle 11g OEM but the documentation is more focused on generating the AWR report manually. I would request if there is a link or documentation to go through for generating AWR report from Oracle 11g enterprise manager.
I hope my question is clear.
Please revert with the reply to my query.

  • Error retrieving data in Oracle BI 11g from DB2 AS/400

    Hello everybody,
In my Oracle BI 11g environment I want to have data coming from a DB2 AS/400 database. Retrieving the tables from the database in BI Administration and building the repository works fine. But as soon as I want to see the data (from the BI Administration or BI Answers) I get the following error (in BI Answers):
    +Description: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [08S01] [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver]Communication link failure. comm rc=11004 - CWBCO1011 - Remote port could not be resolved+
I tried some different settings (ODBC Basis, ODBC Advanced and AS/400) as a databasetype and different type of connections (ODBC 2.0 and ODBC 3.5) in the connection pool. But non of the settings seems to solve the problem.
When I try to query the database using another tool, Oracle Interactive Reporting, everything works fine as long as I use ODBC as both database- and connectiontype.
Does anybode got an idea how this can be solved/where to look for a solution?
    Thanks in advance!
    With regards,
    Dennis de Kock

    Hi Dennis,
We have used default ODBC 3.5 to connect DB2 AS400 iseries but we would like to know from Oracle what is the certified client connectivity software to use.
Afte Opening SR with Oracle they have mentioned that Oracle has not tested and it is not a certified database to support as per SRSP document.
Please let me know your feedback if you have contacted Oracle on this ?
    Thanks
    P

I was able to download it from this link:
on the general 11g Fusion download page at:
Although the site does appear to be having problems. I got intermittent errors of the page/server not being available.

  • Porting from Oracle 10g AS to Oracle 11g Weblogic server

    Hi,
I am trying to port J2EE applicatin from Oracle 10g AS to Oracle 11g Weblogic Server. I have jsp files which contains sql code embedded to fetch data from the DB. The components used in this application are Java, JSP, Servlets and Stateless session beans.
I have a commonjar which is used to create DB Connection manager and other common stuff which is present inside web-inf/lib. My application is packaged as an ear and which contains the war and different ejb-project.jar files. When the Stateless bean is trying to call the ConnectionManager class, which is present inside the commonjar inside web-inf/lib, I get InvocationTargetException. When I debugged in Eclipse, I see that that inside ejb the reference ConnectionManager, the variable cannot be resolved. So I guess at runtime, ejb is not able to locate ConnectionManager Class.
I tried to copy this jar to APP-INF/lib and the same jar is present inside web-inf/lib as well. In that case what happens is the jsp fails with the exception ConnectionManager cannot be resolved.
How can I make the ejb work by keeping the commonjar inside web-inf/lib alone.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks
    Raj

The classloader hierarchy in WLS looks like this (arrows denote inheritance direction):
Java bootstrap classloader <- Java CLASSPATH classloader <- WLS $DOMAIN_HOME/lib classloader <- Application (e.g., EAR) classloader <- web app classloader <- single JSP classloader
The Connection Manager is loaded by the web app classloader while the EJBs are loaded by the application classloader so the EJBs have no visibility to the classes loaded by the child (web app) classloader.
The simplest fix might be to move the Connection Manager jar file to the EAR file's APP-INF/lib directory.
One word of caution though, you need to be using WebLogic Server's Data Sources and JDBC connection pooling to make sure that you correct transactional behavior if the application is doing any sort of JTA transaction (regardless of whether the JTA transactions are using XA or not...).
    Hope this helps,
    Robert
